By now, I suppose the thief has tried 10 times unsuccessfully and the iPad has been restored.
If your iPad had iOS 7 before it was stolen, then the thief would not be able to restore it!
It would have been Activation Locked, as described here:

Here is what to do when your iPad is stolen:

go to iCloud.com and sign in and track your iPad on there.

I have one apple ID for both my Iphone 4S and Ipad. My Ipad was stolen from me and when I checked the iCloud, it can only locate the Iphone 4S. How can I locate the Ipad device?
Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can only locate your device when it is logged into iCloud and 'Find My Phone' is enabled, additionally the device will need to be switched on and connected to a wifi or cellular network.
Unfortunately, you cannot activate iCloud or 'Find My Phone' remotely. -
My iPad was stolen last week while we were moving. No 3G, just wi-fi. Is there any way to locate it? Also, will all my apps work on the iPad 2 and will I be able to transfer everything with a sync?
Was you iPad setup with "Find My iPad"? If not, there is no way to locate it. If you have set it up to use "Find My iPad", you can locate it as long as the iPad is connected to wifi, if not, your out of luck. That is, you can only locate it, if the person who found it connects to wifi.
And yes, all the apps you bought for your iPad, will work with a iPad 2, and you can restore to your new iPad 2 using the latest backup from your computer. -

HT4890 My ipad was stolen. How can I activate the location device using my computer ?
My ipad was stolen today.
How can I switch on the location device from a remote location such as my computer, to help me locate where it is ?
Im also trying to view my 'Notes' which I made on the ipad, but I cant get to them online.
Ive locked it from my computer - what does this mean ?
Can the person that stole it still turn it on with no apps or programs working ?
What if he guesses the 4 digit passcode which I created, can I change it ?
Any help would be appreciated.

You can only locate your device if Find my iPhone was set up prior to the device being stolen.

my iPad was stolen in brazil. i cannot get the manufacturer id number from my iPhone or my macbook air....they are all linked together though. any suggestions on how and if i can possibly retrieve this and thus locate the device? thanks julie
Launch iTunes, go to the Preferences, select Devices, and hover your cursor over the backup file for the iPod. That should show you the serial number, IMEI, and possibly the MEID.
The manufacturer ID will not help you locate the iPad, though. If you set up the Find My iPad service in the Settings prior to the iPad going missing, then there is a chance that can be tracked, though it depends on a number of factors (the iPad is turned on, connected to a WiFi or 3G network, and has not had the Find My iPad service disabled or the iPad been completely restored).
If you did not set up Find My iPad, then there is no way to track it. Contact the police and change any passwords for any online accounts you may have used from your iPad (the iTunes Store, for instance).

My ipad was stolen 2 weeks ago but can't be located since is off line. Please help.
my ipad was stolen 2 weeks ago but can't be located since is off line. Please help.
It's gone.
The downside of the 'find my' app is that your device needs to be online, and it is an app that can be defeated within minutes by any thief that knows what they're doing.
Hopefully you've already protected your data, changed passwords etc.
Chances are your iPad has been wiped and sold and it's gone.
You can or should have reported the theft to the police. You might get lucky. -
My ipad was stolen but i dont have icloud open on my ipad. Is there anything else i can do to either locate my ipad or lock it up so that my personal information is not available.
Unfortunately not, you can only try to locate it if Find My iPad was enabled on it and the iPad is currently connected to a network and the device hasn't already been wiped and/or Find My iPad disabled on it.
If it was stolen then you should report it to the police, and if it was a cellular model you should also contact your carrier. You should also change your iTunes account password, your email account passwords, and any passwords that you'd stored on websites/emails/notes etc. -
My Ipad was stolen - how do I get my serial number so I can lock it.
My Ipad was stolen, how do I get my serial number so I can lock it?
The serial number will be located in the box the device came in.
However, having the serial number will not help you lock it.
The only way to lock it would have been if you set up Find My iPad on iCloud.com and the iPad.
you could then go to iCloud.com and lock it from the "Find my iPhone" section of the website. -
I am wondering if Apple can help me in case my iPad was stolen?
Two weeks ago my iPad was stolen from my appartment. I try to block it using Find my iPhone service but it is useless because they switched off the geolocation service. I only got the message today that my iPad was eventually blocked but still do not know the location...
Apple can't do anything to help you, I'm afraid. All you can do is report it to the police, though I'm afraid the chances of recovery are likely to be low.
