HT5925 Windows 8, Outlook 2010, iCloud Manager problem

My Microsoft Outlook 2010 will not allow me to set up my iCloud account. I have installed the iCloud control panel and it says that there are multiple versions of outlook on my windows 8 computer, but i have uninstalled the one previous version that was on there and can find no others apart from the 2010 version i want to us. Does anyone have a fix?

I think I have figured out a partial sulution....
In both cases I have the iCloud data file set as the default. If I set my Outlook datafile as the default, I am able to send emails from my iCloud account!
The down side to this is that your calander and Contact list etc do not show up anymore in your main screen.
six of one and half a dozen of the other
For me having the calander and contact list ect is more important and if I have to send a lenthy email I will have to switch the default account, but as a work around it really ___ . Hopefully someone else can find a real solution.
BTW the last update from yesterday did not fix anything!
Thank You,
Wøødy

  • Unable to install iCloud on Windows 7 Outlook 2010

Up until recently iCloud calendars were syncing well with Outlook but had for some reason stopped.  2.1 was issued and tried uninstalling and reinstalling the update.
Able to download and install CP2.1.
Able to log onto my iCloud account.
Setting up CP I click "Mail, Contacts, Calendars, etc." and ...
"Your setup couldn't be started because of an unexpected error"
In trying to frame the issue I tried signing out and signing in under a different iCloud account that contains calendar, email and contact information.  It worked fine. Unfortunately this isn't the account I want to use.
    Any ideas?

It is an ongoing issue with installing iTunes 7 on Windows.
What often solve the problem is running installer as Administrator
and the opening iTunes as Administrator
Right click on the installer and "Run As Administrator"
Also as b noir mentioned - can you post the error message?
    This would help.

  • Any App that will bi-directionally sync iPod Touch with Windows Desktop Outlook 2010 Tasks?

    Hi All
    iPod Touch 3rd gen iOS v 5.1.1
    iTunes (for Windows) v 10.7.0.21
Windows 7 32 bit Desktop PC
Outlook 2010 32 bit with POP3 mail server
Appigo ToDo app on iPod Touch
    I reside in Canada
I have been using Appigo's ToDo Task Manager app on my Touch for almost 3 years now. With their Appgio Sync conduit, I have been able to seemlessly bi-directionally sync between the Touch and Outlook Tasks on my Desktop. Now Appigo is no longer going to support Appigo Sync. I can keep using this sync conduit BUT I will no longer be able to update my Touch's ToDo app (eventually that will be a problem).
I DO NOT use iCloud and do NOT wish to use iCloud. I also do not wish to keep my tasks (which do contain confidential information) on anyone else's cloud server. Hence, I need the ability to direct sync between my Touch and my desktop.
I've been searching the web and the App Store looking for either a way to keep using ToDo with another sync method, OR another app that will allow syncing between the it on the Touch and my Desktop.
I don't care about syncing emails since they get downloaded on my Touch regardless. I don't care about syncing Calendars and Contacts since that happens whenever I sync my Touch to iTunes.  Just Outlook Tasks that need to be synced. I also don't care for Reminders - seems like a waste of space IMHO.
I can't be the only person on the planet that doesn't want to use a cloud server, doesn't have an email exchange server and wants to keep tasks in both handheld device and desktop in sync. Please, please, please, any and all suggestions and help will be most appreciated!! IF I need to go to iOS v 6+, then I will need to purchase a new iPod Touch; a huge expense when the Touch I have is still working fine (but if one has to, one has to).
    Thanks a bunch
    barb

I'm in a similar position. Just recently migrated to iPhone from Blackberry (and liking it) but would only do so after confirming that I could sync Outlook tasks to the iPhone. Using ToDo and Appigo sync was the solution and it has worked fine. And I deal with Calendar and Contacts in a similar fashion as you.
I'm not sure I understand the options. I don't have a basic "cloud as a process objection" and cost isn't an issue. But I do want my tasks to end up synced on both my laptop (on the hard drive) and on my iPhone (and soon to come iPad). A variation on your question. Is there no way to do this?

  • Outlook 2010 / iCloud Sync - Outlook crashing while adding address to contact

We have a very odd problem with one client where adding an address to the iCloud contacts field through Outlook 2010 causes outlook to crash. We've tried the following and to no avail:
Made sure Windows 7 has all updates
Made sure Outlook 2010 has all updates
    Create new Outlook profile
    Create new Outlook data file
Uninstall / Reinstall iCloud app and resetup sync
The only problem I've narrowed it down to is that it is related to the Calendar & Tasks syncing in iCloud. When the Contacts sync is on ONLY it is ok; as soon as I turn on the Calendars & Tasks then it causes the crash above.
In the meantime, I've advised the client to update the address field through www.icloud.com or on their iPhone but not through their PC.

Update: I removed all the duplicated lines and other errors (approx. 2000 contacts) and noticed that there were varying extra spaces between city/state and state/zip, which may have caused the different sorts of errors I saw. it's possible that it started with iOS 5/Exchange on the 3GS and I hadn't realized it, my guess is that little errors that iOS4 would overlook, iOS5 and the Exchange process won't.
I believe that the different permutations were due to the variance of the extra spaces between city/state and state/zip which seemed to have been caused by some portion of this error, although because it's pretty subtle, the spaces could have been there before and I didn't notice. I have gone through the approx 2000 contacts and removed the spaces (as well as the extra lines) and although it looks fine at a quick glance, by the time it gets to the iPhone, all of the fields besides the country field are ending up in the address field, not populating to the city, state and zip fields. I also set my MacBook to access Google as a test and as near as I can tell, the Exchange process is not adequately understanding what is a street address, what is a city, state, zip, etc., since Google doesn't have these fields separated out.
I have also sent an email to GSyncIt support for their thoughts. I hope this is clear, I'm a little boggled at this point.

  • Outlook 2010 & iCloud

How can I completely remove iCloud from my Outlook 2010 calendar?

Now we are talking. You didn't say any of that - just wanted to clean icloud out of outlook. With what you really want- none of that is necessary. What you really need is call Apple and ask for someone who knows outlook, to remote in to your computer and fix it. Whoever worked with you had no idea what they were doing. There is no need to "check itunes" when it is icloud. You could probably fix it yourself, if you tech savvy, there is an excellent article on that. I d be happy to do myself, but without remote, I would not bother.
Article is here. Just go through those instructions step by step.
iCloud: Troubleshooting iCloud Calendar - Support - Apple
you need to check under troubleshooting "Microsoft windows -outlook." and then if still a problem under "ios devices". You can also check which one of them replicates to icloud.com and troubleshoot the one that does not replicate. That will cut your work in half.
P.S. my previous answer was more response to the word "completely" which would include all your data gone intentionally. Be careful what you ask for(literally). If none of the above makes sense to you, just call Apple.

  • Outlook 2010/iCloud meeting invites

I have iCloud CP installed on Windows 7 with outlook 2010. When someone sends a meeting invite, it does not show up in the inbox. The meeting shows in the calendar but not in the inbox. This only happens on windows machines with iCloud installed.

We figured this one out. It was because he was using his work email as his Apple ID. We switched which email address was linked to his iCloud account and it started working.

  • Outlook 2010 attachment previewer problem

    Dear All,
I recently upgraded to the office 2010 beta, and have been quite pleased with the new system, until i tried to view an image that was attached to an email. I keep getting on any type of image or pdf that the previewer is not available ad to double click to open the file. I then get photo viewer telling me it can't open the file. So i saved the file to my desktop and try to open the jpg in any program such a photshop, illustrator or fireworks and it tells me there is an unknown or invalid JPEG marker type is found."
I can't open any files that are attached to emails, which is getting really annoying now. I have tried everything i can think of, running outlook as an admin, turning off image previewers, checking image previewers are enabled, i've tried the protection settings, and disabling it for Outlook.
Nothing will work. I've searched google and found a few solutions where they say this is caused by google desktop search causing problems and that uninstalling it solves the issue, however I don't have google desktop search installed, just google toolbar.
Its starting to drive me round the bend, i've even ran and repaired the pst file which didn't make any difference either.
Have reported it as a frown but not holding my breath for a response.
    System:
    Windows 7 64 bit
Office 2010 32 bit beta version
The laptop is 2 weeks old from Dell and all updates are applied.
    Can anyone shed any light?
    Thanks
    Tom

I am having a problem which is a variation on the same theme.  What is even more odd is that I have a laptop and desktop which I installed Outlook 2010 on and they behave very differently.  On my laptop, I can easily view all doc and docx
attachments, while on my desktop, these very same attachments are not recognized or are considered as corrupt documents.  I have been fiddling around with trusted locations on my desktop (e.g., trusting my server folders etc.) but so far no success -
even after reinstallation of 2010 on the desktop.  My laptop's Outlook works fine without having to trust any particular location.  I installed Outlook on my desktop after doing a fresh install of the XP OS while the Outlook installation was an upgrade
of Office 2007 with a fairly weather beaten XP registry.  So currently, I see no rhyme or reason except that it appears that the 2010 installation is highly highly sensitive.  Hopefully there is a quick fix to this or I might also have to roll back
to an earlier version of Outlook.
    Had the same issue.
    Here is the fix
    Hello,
I finally found out what the issue is with this.  It actually isn't a "Protected view" issue, but a DCOM issue.
Somehow the DCOM permission got changed, so it wouldn't allow certain applications access to simple things like Preview mode on Outlook 2010 / 2007, or opening up attachments without it saying file corrupt.  I also was having an issue with Pop ups in
IE8, where javascript messages about security tokens were not authenticated.
The solution is as follows, and then you can turn on your protected mode back on in word, excel, and your "Preview mode" in outlook will start working again.
Go to start, then run.  Type dcomcnfg and push o.k. Component Services should come up.
Expand Component Services, click on Computers, then "Right click" on My Computer and go to "properties".
Click on Default Properties tab, and make sure the following is set:
Default Authentication Level: Should say Connect, not "None"
And Default Impersonation Level: SHould say Identify.
When those are set properly, hit o.k and turn on your protected mode back on your Office applications.  Everything works as expected :)
    Cheers :)

  • Outlook 2010 iCloud Add-In causes emails not to send

I just started using iCloud to migrate my Outlook 2010 contacts and calendar to iCloud and then to my iPhone 5s.
There's an intermittent problem (although I can now make it happen, so not so intermittent anymore) where my emails will not send unless I disable the iCloud Add-In.  They appear as Drafts (not italicized in my Outbox) and will not send until I disable the iCloud Add-In, and go back into them and click 'Send' again.
Disabling my iCloud Add-In means that my Contacts and Calendar do not update to iCloud (and thus not to my phone either), so I have to be careful to remember to enable the iCloud Add-In immediately after getting my emails sent.
Does anyone have this problem and/or a fix for it?

    Thanks all.
Was checking to see if the issue Samorren has discovered in the following post might have been in play for you:
iTunes 11.1.4.62 freezes while syncing with Outlook
(Similar issues can hit iTunes and the iCloud machinery, because they both use files from Apple Application Support ... hence the quick check of your situation over here.)

  • IPhone 4S Outlook 2010 shared Calendar problem

    Hello all,
There problem to see in Outlook 2010 shared calendar in iPhone 4S. In iPhone 4S there is seen owner calendar of added Exchange Server account, but I need to see other one person shared calendar which is impossible to see. I see in iPhone 4S two calendars as added, but when I open calendar I see entries only for one account.
Where is problem and how to solve it?
    Thanks.
    Best Regards,
    Girts

I had the same problem where I could open a shared calendar in OWA but it would not work in Outlook 2010. When I clicked on the shared folder I got the error message 'outlook cannot open this folder'. The problem ended up being that the person
whose calendar was being shared was hidden on the exchange server ('hide from exchange address lists' had been selected). To resolve the issue we had to unhide the user, update the OAB on the server and then update the OAB on the desktop. We could then share
the calendar, accept the share and then hide the user again.
Sounds like I have the same issue too.  Where do I go to do all the resolve part?  Where do I unhide the user?  I am guessing OAB means offline address book.
    Thanks
    Paul

  • Is there an Outlook 2010 vs IPhone4 problem?

I use Outlook 2010 during the day for my work email.  When it is not open my email goes to my phone and then in the mornings everything gets downloaded into Outlook and deleted from my Phone which is fine with me.  The problem I am having the last few days is that the emails are not downloading into Outlook but they are being deleted from my phone.  Have I accidently changed a setting or something?

The iPhone can be configured to sync directly to the Exchange server, no app needed.
Alternatively, via iTunes the device can be synced to Outlook.

  • Outlook 2010 Start-up Problems

I bought a new PC last month with Office 2010 Pro and all was working fine until today.  I am on a business consulting engagement w/a company and tried to set up an Outlook email account to access my new Exchange ID on their corp domain.  Things
didn't go well, and now when I try to open Outlook I can't.  I get the following message:
"Cannot open your default email folders. Outlook cannot start because a dat file to send and receive messages cannot be found. Check your setting in Microsoft Outlook profile. In Microsoft Windows, click the Start button, and then click Control Panel. Click
User Accounts, and then click Mail.  Click Show Profiles, select this profile, and then click properties."
I did all that, ensured that my mail accounts and files were okay (went through "Repair" and all is good), but still can't get in.  I also tried the Office Repair option, but that didn't help either.
My guess is that during the process of trying to set up an Exchange connection something got hosed.  But there is no exchange email account that I can see.
    Any thoughts?

  • Outlook 2010 IMAP connection problem and not work with TLS enabled

    Dear all,
Need your help.  5 users of my customer Outlook 2010 suddenly popped error message "Your IMAP server closed the connection".  We checked that there is no problem in IMAP connection in Exchange 2007 server (SP3) (we tested with setup new
account in another Outlook and able to connect, send and receive email).
We are able to workaround the problem of that 5 users by disabling TLS in account setting for SMTP to Exchange.  The users can then connect and able to send and receive. (however, in our testing above, there is no problem with TLS).
Could you help to enlighten me what may be the cause of this situation?
    Best Regards,
    Rayson Wong

    Hi,
Please click File > Account Settings > Account Settings > Select the IMAP account and click
Change > More Settings button > Advanced tab, and then adjust the
Server Timeouts slider bar to a longer time to check the result.
Also make sure the SMTP server port number is set correctly.
Please let me know the result.

    Please Help!

I had this same problem. The Genius Bar at the Apple store told me the problem was with Outlook. I upgraded my computer with Microsoft Office 2010 and my problem was solved. Fortunately for me I was able to get this upgrade at a steep discount thru an employee discount program. Others won't be so lucky and this "solution" could prove to be rather expensive.
I say this problem was caused by Apple failing to maintain backward compatibility with existing platforms that their IPhone customers are currently using. After all, not all IPhone users ONLY use Apple computers and this problem only occurred after updating the software on my phone to version 4.2.1 and I Tunes to version 10 on my computer.

  • How to export an Address Book group to Windows 7 Outlook 2010?

    Hello.
I have recently installed Windows 7 (64-bit) on VMware Fusion 3.1.3 to my Mac Pro (OS X 10.6.8).
I have a 30-day trial of Outlook 2010 and I'm trying to get my Mac's address book contacts over to to Outlook in an Outlook-digestible form.
Unfortunately, none of the solutions that I've tried (e.g., converting to an Excel spreadsheet or using a 2003 program called ABE) work.
Do any of you have a solution that will definitely work so that all of my contacts will go into Outlook and populate the correct fields on the first go-round?
    Thanks for your help.

Well, I figured out a way to do it.
I used "Automator" and created a workflow to take all the contacts in one of my groups and batch convert them to .vcf files.  THen save them to a folder on my desktop.
I then launched WIndows 7 (via VMware Fusion) and dragged the folder with the .VCF files to the Windows desktop.
    Launched MS Outlook.
    Selected "Contacts."
    Opened the .VCF folder.
Selected all of the .vcf files in the folder.
Dragged the files into Outlooks contacts window. And I was done.
Try it and see how it works for you.
