HT5934 After doing iOS 7 update on iPad 2 I'm now locked out by a passcode. PLEASE HELP
I did the iOS 7 update on my special needs son's ipad2 which he uses daily, and now its locked the screen with a passcode! I've never had a passcode before so I have noises how to unlock the screen! I have tries generic codes like 0000 & 1234, and even other random numbers just in case, but to no avail (other than to disable the iPad from trying too many passwords!!)
My son uses this every day for practicing his fine motor skills and many other therapies and I need to get this working again ASAP, please help!!
I tried to do a backup, thinking worst case scenario I'll restore to factory settings and then sync it from my latest backup but it wouldn't let me do a backup.
I notice there is now an iOS 7.0.2 update available, my hopes soared when I saw this this morning, thinking it would be a fix for this passcode lock since I've seen online that many people are having the same issue, but it says it fixes the ability for people to BYPASS this passcode lock!!
I only WISH I could bypass the stupid thing!
I can't understand why it would put a passcode lock on a device without letting you know somehow what the passcode IS!

If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. I think this is a Java problem. I went to Firefox and Mozilla home page and checked to see that my plug ins were up to date. Firefox said it had turned off my Java because it was not up to date. When I went to the Java page to update it, it only said Mac has its own Java updates and suggested I update through Apple. Unfortunately, when I checked to see if Apple has any updates for my Java, there weren't any.
After seeing that, I went to the link it had for "upgrade to the latest version" and this is what Java says:

if you go to settings-General
You can select between using the side switch to lock rotation or mute. If you select one mute, then the lock rotation icon will show up in the control center. If you select lock rotation, then the mute will show up. THe side switch is then used for the other option. -
After I tried to update my Ipad mini to the newest update, it kept saying hello on my lock screen in different languages and then when I slide the screen across, it says connected to itunes but it's not doing anything!! I have two rotating arrows at the top of my screen next to the 3G symbol. This happened after the iOS 5 update. Does anyone know what it is and how I get it off, it is draining my battery?
At first read, I also thought it sounded a bit snide. Who here has read the entire manual before going to the web for a quick search? (Not me, and in fact, I found my answer - to this very question, by reading this post WAY faster than if I had read the manual. What is so wrong with that?)
That is the beauty of having support forums. If it is a bother to answer, without being snide, one is not obligated to do so. And my apologies if he was not being snide... but there maybe a better way to point out the manual, such as "I have included a link to the searchable manual which may be of assistance to you next time you are puzzled by your iPhone's behaviour".

Why did iPad 3 did not get airdrop ??? I read somewhere on internet that it does not need hardware upgrade as it's a software... So y is this injustice? The specs of iPad 3 is better thn iPad mini.. Still y did apple not include this in ios 7 update of iPad 3? Disappointed . (Hope they give us an update with airdrop included..)
AirDrop uses special technology that is only available in the newest generation of wifi/bluetooth radio chip in the latest iOS devices. Airdrop can actually connect between devices without technically being logged into a network. Only the latest chips support that tech.

I just now spoke with Apple support as I had a similar issue, where the volume on some apps and games did not work, and what I was told helped me out greatly.
what I was told to do is hold down the power and the home screen button at the same time for about three or four seconds until the device shuts down and you should see it restarting. If the device does not restart on its own hit the power button and it should restart and then you should have no problem at all everything should be as it should be.

my fiance and i share 1 icloud account on 2 iphones, after the ios 7 update he can now see all my text messages that I type on his phone, how can i fix this? I don't see any of his, just the other way around. The icloud account is in my name.

- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
