If you see Develop in your Safari menu bar, (top of your screen), click Develop. From the drop down menu you'll see: Disable Images. If that's checked, click once to uncheck then quit and relalunch Safari and try the VRBO site.
If that doesn't help, from your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, then quit and relaunch Safari and try that website again.

I cannot view images in emails on multiple accounts from different sites (Gmail, AOL Mail, Hotmail) on Safari and Firefox on my Macbook. When I click "Show Content" on the emails to unblock the spam protection, either all of the images don't show up and instead I get the "?" boxes or only some of the images show up. Can anyone help me out? I have an important email I need to print out but need to see all the images before doing so (plus, it's just plain annoying). Thanks.

I have the same problem. Since a while I can no longer view images in html emails even though it was set to do so in the prefs. I am considering ditching the plist file but am concerned that I will lose more valuable info (like account passwords and such). What does the pref file (plist) hold?

I cannot view images on any website, or buttons only text. I can view youtube videos but none of the video thumbnails on the sidebar. I have never had this problem and have searched the forums for an answer.

The clip is intact and it has video and audio.
I have worked on it before and all was fine until I lost the work when it got frozen!
The issue is:
I have a (MOV.) ready clip that I wanted to edit a bit, hence I have imported the clip (import media) and whenever I try to work on it, the black screen prohibits me from doing anything.
Any ideas please ... It's really strange !

I have just upgraded to the most current version of aperture and when I import images from my qxd card it looks like it is importing but no images show up.

So the images show up in the Import pane of Aperture but after you press the Import button they do not show in the project you are importing into?
Does this happen for both Raw and JPG images?

Help! I cannot view images in Lightroom 4.1

Hello all,
I hope someone can help I need the answer asap so it would be very much appreciated. I am trying to use Lightroom and whilst it imports images successfully, I cannot view them at all. I do not have the '?' so this isn't a problem but I don't know what else it can be. I am using 4.1 but currently downloading 4.2 (very painful, almost impossible in Indonesia), but I would imagine this shouldn't be an issue either.
Any ideas? I am stuck!

If that's also the same if you go into the Develop module, then it's probably a corrupt monitor profile. Try setting the profile to sRGB as a test (not a cure, the cure is to fix the monitor profile).....see these instructions:

Cannot view images using Preview

Happy New Year to all,
I cannot view .jpg files in Preview. I have .jpg files in various folders. If I:
a) Double click the .jpg file in Finder the Preview icon arrives in dock but no image is displayed.
or
b) Right click the .jpg file in Finder and select open with Preview the same as above happens.
If I then right click the Preview icon in dock I can see the image file name with a 'tick' mark next to it but no image is displayed.
The Preview help section in Apple is no help whatsoever. Any ideas ?
I am fairly new to the Mac so do not know if I have had this problem from day one, never tried before.

Cannot view images in emails

8830 phone from Alltel. When I read an email message that contains an image, all I see is the text of the link to the image and not the image itself. Is there a setting I can change that will let me view images in emails?

This depends on two factors. One your device OS need to be 4.5 of higher and second your carrier need to have BIS 2.5 (which can be considered done by now). If you don't have OS 4.5 of higher then consider upgrading your device OS version.

Cannot view images on emails

Sometimes I get emails with images where I could view them ok without a problem. Recently I noticed that I see only a box with a question mark where an image should appear. I turned OFF and ON the "view images" under Mail settings to see if that would help but it didnt. I also repaired permissions on my hard drive but no cigar. I haven't installed anything in a long time so it can't be another software. The only thing I can remember doing is adding another email account to Mail but that was it. It was from a different provider. Can anyone help?

I cannot view images in iphoto - only black screen

I had problems being unable to boot my iMac this week and ended up having to take it to the Apple store where they re-installed the operating system and all seemed fine. Now however, although I can view thumbnails in iPhoto, when I click on them I just get a black screen.
I've checked the images do still exist in the file folders and I had a slideshow running as a screensaver - this still shows the images but I cannot access them through iPhoto.
Can anyone help?

There are several possible causes for the Black Screen issue
1. Permissions in the Library: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to check and repair permissions.
2. Minor Database corruption: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
3. A Damaged Photo: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and right click on it. From the resulting menu select 'Show File (or 'Show Original File' if that's available). (On iPhoto 11 this option is under the File -> Reveal in Finder.) Will the file open in Preview? If not then the file is damaged. Time to restore from your back up.
4. A corrupted iPhoto Cache: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto folder from HD/Users/Your Name/Library/ Caches...
5. A corrupted preference file: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
If none of these help:
As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

Cannot view images in Mail

Hi All
Strange one, but ever since moving to Snow Leopard on the MacBook Pro, images will not load in the viewing screen of Mail. I have fiddled with the 'Display Remote Messages in HTML' preference, and for a second when I tick/un-tick that box I can see the image in Mail, before it disappears again.
I have never had this issue before...and the only new thing is moving to the MacBook Pro (via Time Machine) with Snow Leopard.
Any help on this would be great, as with my business I am unable to view stats in vital emails.

I've been having this issue since Tiger and cannot fix it (unless I reformat my mac and start from scratch). There has to be a corrupt preference file somewhere. Basically, no matter what option I choose in mail (either display remote images or no), the images NEVER display. It's something within my mail files as when I installed 10.6, I went with a fresh install, but manually copied over my mail and prefs.
It's been an issue for 2+ years. I have an old thread on these boards that never got to the bottom of it then, either. Argh.

Cannot view images on the stage in AS3

Hi guys, I've had Flash CS4 for a while but never been able to use Actionscript 3 as any images dragged to the stage just disappear -- but of course are there when you preview the movie. I've reset the program, tried changing all around the views and resetting preferences -- and it works fine with new AS2 documents, but this problem has got me annoyed! I can't see anyone else with this problem while surfing the web, but thought it was time to get proactive and ask for your help and ideas!

First off - thanks so much for taking the time to read this and answer to help me out. It's much appreciated, and better than anything that Adobe have offered (except to host these forums I suppose). I don't want to set myself up for a big fall and say that it can't be something simple as I could well be missing something, but it's definitely not a case of just adding a new layer and importing to the stage again. I've used Flash since way back in version 5, and like I said it works fine for Actionscript 2 documents, just seems a weird issue with (my) Actionscript 3.
I've looked at other suggestions, but as you can see from these screenshots all the layers are visible and not locked. Alpha is 100%, and it doesn't just affect new library objects but al drawing objects on the stage -- they can be drawn, but then quickly disappear. They are still there, and the cursor will change when hovered over the spot where they should be. The paths can also be seen when highlighted by the subselection tool. I've tried using the bring to front etc and anything else I can see. Also, I reinstalled the Flash Pro kit, so it must be something with my default setup.
Image 1 - just about to drag a Facebook gif icon to the stage.
Image 2 (it's different, honest!) - The layer has been filled, but the library item can't be seen. Also makes no difference if the Flash file is saved first or not. The cursor changes to the "move" type graphic when hovered over the invisible graphic too.
Any of you guys have a fix I'll buy you a drink next time you're near Durham (UK)!

Cannot View Images in Bridge, only CR2 icons show

In Bridge,CS3, After I open the folder I want, all I see is the orange colored Icons (CR2)of my raw Images. If I click on a given Icon the image comes up, but it is not possible to review(SEE)all the images at the same time , which I could do in CS2, once I opened a given folder.

The second thing to try isn't "destructive". It is to verify that Photoshop is the application associated with your CR2 files. To do this in MS Windows:
1) Open an Explorer window (My Documents, etc.)
2) Select menu Tools => Folder Options
3) Select the File Types tab.
4) Scroll down to the CR2 file type, and select it. (Is it really .CR2?)
5) In the panel at the bottom should be "Opens with Adobe Photoshop". If not:
5.1) Click the Change button and select Photoshop from the resulting application list.
5.2) If Photoshop isn't listed, click the Browse button and browse to the folder where Photoshop is installed. It may be C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS3.
If the above doesn't help, the third thing to try will remove your Bridge preferences, which obviously deletes any preferences you have set. See the FAQs for specific instructions, which are:
1) Hold down Ctrl+Shift+Alt keys (and keep holding them throughout this process.)
2) Start Bridge. This may not work from QuickLaunch panel or the Recent Application List. It's best to select Start => All Programs => Adobe CS3 => Bridge. (which might vary on your computer)
3) AFTER the 3-option Reset Preferences dialog appears, you can finally release the Ctrl+Shift+Alt keys you've been holding down.
4) There are three options of which preferences to reset. I ALWAYS try the least destructive first (purge all cache), but I have NEVER had satisfactory results without turning on all three checkboxes.

Cannot view image info in iPhoto '11

Pressing the info button once highligts it, and pressing it twice opens the panel with linen background but it's empty. iPhoto also slows down or seems to hang after doing this. Otherwise, iPhoto seems to work properly.
Repairing iPhoto permissions and repairing the iPhoto database do not seem to alleviate the problem.
Is there any file containing chached image info that I can prompt rebuilding of by removing it?

Create a new account (systempreferences -> accounts or Users & Groups on 10.7 and 10.8), make a new Library in that account, import some shots and see if the problem is repeated there. If it is, then a re-install of the app might be indicated. If it's not, then it's likely the app is okay and the problem is something in the main account.

Go to Tools > Options. Click the Content tab.
In the Content section, next to Load images automatically, click the Exceptions button.
Now, find the site you want to re-allow images for, click it and hit the Remove button.
