Is it recommended to install this update? I'm using a Macbook Pro (late 2011), OS X Lion 10.7.3
I ran software update today and this security update didn't even show up in the items to be installed. Someone (i.e. Bob Harris from another thread) mentioned that "Software Update ONLY downloads and installs the patch if you actually have Java installed; it is not installed by default on 10.7" (see thread: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3853951?tstart=0). Does this mean I don't even have to install this update, since I don't have Java installed? Because I honestly don't know if I have Java installed or not. I'm not exactly a techie.

yes
The update provides a fixed Java. If you do not have Java installed and do not want Java installed, then applying the update would result in installing the Java you did not want nor need, hence Software Update did not try to install the Java update.
There are valid reasons for having Java installed on your system, but only if you have a need. For example, there are some 3rd party utilities that are implemented using Java (a programming language). On rare instances, there are some web sites that use Java (very rare these days) to give you an interactive experience, and you happen to want/need to work with that web site.
But for the most part Java is not needed, which is why Apple no longer installs Java by default.
If you have Java installed, then System Preferences -> Software Update -> Check Now, will offer you the Java update. If it isnot installed, Software Update will not offer the update.

HT5312 Spoke with Apple "support" today about the Security Questions that R blocking us from using i-Tunes. The guy told us to just keep GUESSING his answers. How can U guess answers to Questions that U NEVER answered. Now he's locked out for 8 hrs. :(

We spoke to Customer "support" today, as we can't use i-Tunes for a new i-Pod gift for Christmas. The reason this iPod was bought is because he can no longer upload i-Tunes to his old one because it's a Ver. 3 and it demands you upgrade it (which we tried numerous times before getting into one of these chat rooms and discovering that the iPod 3 is not compatible with the upgrade!! Really makes them all a waste of MONEY. Not happy.
Anyway, the "ADVICE" from the Apple "support" guy was to just keep guessing the answers to the questions. WHAT! He never answered them before, they weren't necessary before, so how can he guess the answers, to questions that were non-existent when he originally created his ID??
Does anyone have any advice regarding this, as I think he has already attached his credit (also a gift) to his ORIGINAL ID, so even if he creates a NEW Apple ID, he will lose that Credit. So furstrated right now!

I assume that you don't have a rescue email address on your account ? How did you contact support ? You should be able to contact them in your country via this link and they should be able to reset the questions : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5699

Relax. This is completely normal and is not unusual at all.
It will be reversed.

I use passcode lock for the security purpose, but when i try to call my friend using siri before enter the passcode. the call is activated i am really shacked, how come the calling is going? if any one use my phone like this who will bare that charges?

I'm not aware of any built in method to accomplish this. You'd have to come up with the custom way of doing it. You could put a web page in front of the main peoplebooks page that asks for login credentials and link that to PS somehow. Maybe use LDAP? In any case, it sounds messy and doesn't really seem like it's worth the investment. -Mike

Could an admin please tell me why the threads about the "undulating waves" visible when the screen is at half-brightness keep getting removed? I'm finding it very frustrating to use this discussion board, and with Apple Genius Bar employees denying the problem exists, it's hard to find support without being able to verify that others are experiencing this issue.

if you are interested in LabVIEW, the graphical programmin environment, keep assured that you can protect the code (=LabVIEW diagram) by protecting it with a password as described in this page of the online help.
On the other hand, this board os dedicated to LabWindows/CVI, which is a completely different programming tool. Questions referred to labVIEW should be posted to the corresponding forum board.

About the new version of Pages in Maverick

With the new version of Pages, in Maverick, I don't find any longer the option that allowed visualization of two pages of one file on screen. Does anybody know how to do or was that option disabled?

Firefox starts with old tabs and windows I had visited ages ago, not a new blank window. It is opening up a tab containing a credit card transaction I had completed last week, so I am worried about the security risks your browser is posing right now.

Few times a week, ff opens after boot with random tabs from history open. But today it kept opening the same set of windows (not tabs) from random points of time from history. It stopped after I closed 4 of them and browsed a bit with the last and closed it with tabs open. Then it resumed opening the previously saved tabs. The usual situation with tabs occurs generally after I close firefox with no tabs and no websites loaded and I shut down the computer.
I do have a large amount of history, I generally clear only sensitive sites from history by searching and clicking forget this site.

So far, I looked at your first solution, Revo Uninstaller and it gives you a 30 free trial. Ergo, it will eventually cost money so I'm leery of using those kinds of programs in general, meaning most "free trials" have unwanted strings attached and often are big probs to get rid of later. Perhaps you can assure me that it is easy and very user friendly, before I proceed. And I already ran malwarebytes and it found nothing tho the program still can't be uninstalled. I downloaded Adw Cleaner and during the install, my Norton's security popped up and warned that there were (low risk) threats with two of their "other offers" and i hadn't even actually clicked to agree either of them. Nonetheless, Norton warned me against the "lyrics finder" and "deal ply." In fact, there was a box already with an x in it, saying that you are accepting deal ply if you x on "next." Well, except I unchecked that box before clicking on next, yet when it went to fully install, it still showed that it was adding itself; so, just before the install was 100% completed, I had to abort the whole thing. I really do hope your other suggestions are programs that you personally know that they don't try and trick you. But right now, I would not suggest Adw Cleaner to anyone. I even read the fine print about what they will try and install and how to decline and it still tried sticking stuff on that i believed I had declined. Anyways, i have to leave now, shall pick up later this evening, if my pc is still functioning.
