HT6030 I no longer have my notes in mail on my MacBook Pro
I no longer have my notes in 'mail' on my MacBook Pro, but they are in my IPhone and IPad. They used to be in my MacBook Pro and they did synch with the other two devices with ICloud. I think that it may have something to do with upgrading Maverick on November 17.
I am running 10.9 and the app "notes" is totally empty.

The question mark means the computer cannot find a bootable volumes so can;t do anything, That, combined with annoying sounds, strongly suggests a failed hard drive.
You can ask a "genius" at an Apple Rtail Store to test it but I'm pretty sure the drive is kaput. I'm hoping you had your data backed up. -

Check that your phone settings are not set to remove messages from your server after downloading.

Today I deleted an email services I no longer need. Now when I go to the notes app I no longer have any notes. Is there any way to get my notes back. I have the first iPad running iOS 5.1.1
Ah, well, then the notes are probably gone. Did you save any of the email from that account on your computer? The notes might be there if you did.

I upgraded to Mavericks from 10.6.8 and I no longer have any of my mail folders in macmail. If I look up an email via spotlight, I can find it, so it's in there. How do I restore my folders?
As an update: I was able to find my archived boxes and emails on my hard drive by doing this:
Open a Finder window.
Select Go | Go to Folder… from the menu.
Type "~/Library/Mail/V2".
Once I was able to get my macmail working properly, most of my mailboxes appeared, however not all and only a few recent emails are in a few of the boxes.
I really need to move the emails from the archive back into my macmail. When I try to import using the mbox method, it doesn't recognize the .mbox even though they are .mbox. Other than re-emailing each individually to myself, I don't know what to do. Does anyone out there have any suggestions as to some easier solution? -

For a long time, years, the old MacBook pro ceased entering the song titles. This is very time consuming for me, so I finally investigated a bit further.
I discovered how to enter the track titles onto my newer MacBook Pro, and was so pleased! But when I tried to do the same with the other laptop, it failed.
What I did, basically, was what the Apple Help suggested--choose iTunes General Preferences, etc.etc. And yes, I did upgrade the old laptop to the newest iTunes version.
Am I just wasting my time here? Is there some reason why an older Mac Pro will not do what the newer one will, with regard to iTunes?
My older laptop is a 2.6 GHz Core Duo; it has 36 GB of "memory available." The newer one a 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7. It has 284 GB of memory available.

I have been editing a document on my MacBook Pro and iPad, which has the newer versions of Pages. Now, I cannot open on My MacBook. It says I need a newer version of OS. However, I'm not showing a newer version being availabe!!! Can anyone help???
That is Pages for iPad v2.0, which Pages '09 v4.3 can't read.
You need to either stick with the older version of Pages on the iPad or get Pages 5 for the Mac which is only available if you are running OSX 10.9 Mavericks.
Unfortunately that is not the end of your woes because Apple has made iCloud convert the files to Pages 5 now, and Pages 5 has over 90 features deleted on top of doing a shocking job of converting older Pages files.

I currently have iPhoto 8.1.2 on my macbook pro and am trying to update to the latest version. I have had to work backward, but I can only get back to 9.1, which will not install because it says I need at least 9.0 to install it. Is 9.0 available? Will I need to go back even further? Thanks
Upgrading from iPhoto 8 to iPhoto 9 requires a purchase. There are two ways to get to iPhoto 9:
1 - purchase a copy of the iLife 11 disk from a 3rd party retailer like Amazon.com or eBay.com.
2 - if your MBP meets the requirements upgrade you system for free to Mavericks. Then you can purchase the latest iPhoto version, 9.5.1, from the App Store.

When I want to change my desktop pattern, I no longer have access to my iPhoto as a choice. I am just given the Apple pictures and colors. I have OS 10.9.4 on a MacBook Pro. Hi! I've got CS3 Design Standard - the actual disks and Software License certificate. It was installed on my laptop which crashed and could therefore not be uninstalled. I have now installed it on my new MacBook Pro, but cannot get it registered with the serial number. Is it because it wasn't uninstalled on the previous laptop? What to do now?? Thx!
Maybe this can help someone else... I simply had to properly uninstall CS3 and reinstall it again after that. I think that sorted it! I also remember having a similar issue with Macs at work a couple of years back. Not sure whether the same applies to CS5/CS6. I have airport express but it is not recognised by either my macbook pro or my ipod on my wireless network. It does not show in airport utility. Might I not have an airport card? How would I know. Airport utility in my mac says no other devices connected.

If both your MacBook Pro and iPod are unable to "see" the Wi-Fi network provided by the AirPort Express, it is most likely NOT that you are missing an "airport card," but the Express may be the issue instead.
One quick test is to see if either device can "see" other Wi-Fi networks. If they can, then you can definately rule both of them out as the issue.
By default, the AirPort Express will broadcast an unsecured Wi-Fi network with a network name of something like: Apple Network NNNNNN. Can either device see this network? If not, then I would recommend that you perform a "factory default" reset on the Express, and then, check again. -
No longer able to open the application on my MacBook Pro since upgrading to FaceTime 1.0.5 (170). The operating system is OSX 10.6.8.
My problem opening FaceTime after the upgrade is now solved. I didn't pay enough attention when prompted to decide where to store the application upgrade and as a consequence the computer created another "Applications" folder within the existing one. When I subsequently clicked on the icon on the dock to open the application the computer couldn't find the software.
