HT6058 Anyone having trouble updating to iOS 7.0.4 on 2nd gen iPad?

We are trying to use a flipped classroom and need to update to iOS 7.0.4 on the 2nd generation iPad.  It will not download.  Can anyone enlighten us on this matter?

Try connecting the iPad to your computer to update.
To upgrade using iTunes:
First, connect your iPad to your PC or Mac using the cable provided when you purchased your device. This will allow iTunes to communicate with your iPad.
You will also need the latest version of iTunes. Don't worry, you will be prompted to download the latest version when you launch iTunes. Once it installs, you may be asked to setup iCloud by logging into your iTunes account. If you have a Mac, you may be prompted on whether or not you want to enable the Find my Mac feature.
Now you are ready to begin the process:
    1.    If you upgraded iTunes earlier, go ahead and launch it. (For many, it will launch automatically when you plug in your iPad.)
    2.    Once iTunes is launched, it should automatically detect that a new version of the operating system exists and prompt you to upgrade to it. Choose Cancel. Before updating, you will want to manually sync your iPad to make sure everything is up to date.
    3.    After canceling the dialog box, iTunes should automatically sync with your iPad.
    4.    If iTunes doesn't automatically sync, you can manually do it by selecting your iPad within iTunes, clicking on the File menu and choosing Sync iPad from the list.
    5.    After your iPad has been synced to iTunes, select your iPad within iTunes. You can find it on the left side menu under Devices.
    6.    From the iPad screen, click on the Update button.
    7.    After verifying that you want to update your iPad, the process will begin. It takes a few minutes to update the operating system during which time your iPad may reboot a few times.
    8.    After updating, you may be asked a few questions when your device finally boots back up. This is to account for new settings and features.

  • Having trouble updating to iOS 5.1

Hello. I've been trying to update my iPod Touch 4G to iOS 5.1 during the past two days. Unfortunately, I keep getting the "Unable to Check for update: An error occurred while trying to check for a software update" message. I've tried two different WiFi networks. Anyone know how to fix this? Thanks!

    - Likely a Apple server problem.
    - I would try reseting the iPod and try again . It may help and nothing is lost.
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

  • Anyone having trouble updating and loading apps after updating ipad software?

I have an ipad(1st gen).  Updated to the latest software a few weeks ago.   Shows apps available for update, but wont download and load the app now.  Anyone else having this issue?  Also, safari frequently wont open a link and says safari is not connect to the network.  Have to close the browser and reopen it to get it working sometimes.  Frustrating!!! Help!!

My iPad 1 won't update either- it says if I continue I will lose all information on the iPad.  I use it for my home business and can't lose all my data, contacts, and calendar items! HELP!
It is crashing in the middle of app use, something is not right!

  • I'm having trouble updating to iOS 7 on my iPhone

I continue to get messages stating that i don't have enough storage.  When I have increased the storage size, it still contines to give me this error.

You need to delete content from the device and/or run the update from iTunes on a computer. Buying more iCloud storage won't help with this.

  • I'm having trouble updating to IOS 5 with my 3rd generation I touch.

It won't even ask me if I want to update to the nnext version of sofware, I tried to check for updates myself by clicking the button in my Ipod section but it says instantly that 4.2.1. is the latest version. I've tried restoring my Ipod and restarsting my computer but that doesn't make any difference. Sometimes it will come up with a loading bar that says it's checking for an update and it will load for a abit but then it comes up with an error message that says "The Ipod software update server could not be contacted" and it tells me to make sure my network settings are connected and active. Does anybody have any help or a solution to my issue?

That information is incorrect.  Apple did in fact make an 8GB iPod Touch 3rd Gen.  They eliminated the 16GB from the lineup that generation, but not the 8GB.
Proof, unless CNET reviewed a one-off unit: http://reviews.cnet.com/mp3-players/apple-ipod-touch-third/4505-6490_7-33770781. html
And the dozens of sites selling refurbed and used units are incorrect too.
EDIT: Looking into it, the 8GB was marketed as a 3rd Gen, but didn't have the upgrades of the higher capacities.

  • Anyone having trouble with the recording function on the rear camera on iPad ios7?

The rear camera shows while I'm recording video but I'm just getting sound when I play it back.

Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPad?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after It shuts down, press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds).

  • Having trouble updating to latest Mavericks update

Is anyone having trouble updating their older iMac to the latest Software Update? I am getting a hanging "Preparing OS X Update" screen that goes nowhere after much waiting. Tried downloading again and still not installing.

    Hello TripletDad
If the update is not taking, then reinstall OS X Mavericks. As a precautionary, I recommend backing up before you go through with that reinstallation, even though it will not erase anything.

  • Having trouble updating to 9.1.1

Is anyone having trouble updating iTunes? It says there's a new version available (9.1.1) but I can't update it(iTunes notification pops up and tells me this.) Even using Apple Software Update doesn't work. I know this because when I try to update iTunes, it (ASU) tells me all my software is up to date which isn't true. My version is 9.0.3.

When trying to use Apple Software Update, no update for iTunes+Quicktime shows up. It just says "All your software is up-to-date". When trying to check for an update through iTunes, I get the prompt to update: A new version of iTunes (9.1.1) is available. Would you like to download it now? Then there's the 2 'radio' buttons that say "Download iTunes" and "Don't Download". If I click the "Download iTunes" button, nothing happens(meaning no browser window opens up to the iTunes download page)

If your problem persists get yourself a micro USB cable (sold separately), you can restore your Apple TV from iTunes:
Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
    Open iTunes.
Select your Apple TV in the Source list, and then click Restore.

  • Anyone having trouble with the new update for 2010 mac book air 10.8.2?

Anyone having trouble with the new update for 2010 mac book air 10.8.2 ? My 2010 Macbook Air has crashed 15times since the 10.8.2 update. Have only once since owning it.

Turned out the hardware was bad.  Apple exchanged it for a new Mac Air and the new trackpad works great.  Thank goodness it was a defect.  If the trackpads all worked like that I would have been bummed.

  • HT4623 Anyone having trouble with App Store install and cloud store buttons not working after 6.1 update?

Anyone having trouble with App Store install and cloud store buttons not working after 6.1 update? I go to install an app. I hit install and nothing happens. About a minute later it asks me for my password and then it does nothing. The install button goes back to saying install. However the app shows up in my installed list and in cloud but no app installed.

OK - I found a helpful post - closed app store app and under Settings/General/Date and Time I reset the date and time by switching off "Set Automatically" and then switching it on again. Went back to App Store, launched it and Updatesseems to be working again.
    Go figure? Logical, No!

  • Is anyone having problems with the iOS 6 update? Random, unknown people are involved in my text messages!

Is anyone having a problem with iOS 6 update? Random, unknown people are involved in my text messages!

I noticed that after I linked Facebook to my iphone, I had tons of new entries in my Contacts. I found a way to turn that feature off. Perhaps that's your problem with randoms joining in on your convos.
Yep, follow the instructions listed by the guy above me. I also did this: Settings ---> Facebook ---> Contacts: Off (allow these apps to use ur account). That cleared out all my Facebook friend phone numbers from my Contact list on my phone. Hope this helps. Updating an os should not require oodles of work on our end.

Having trouble with the iOS 8.1.1 download.  Very slow. Just keeps saying preparing update for about 4 hours now. Help

    Hello there, Cmm405.
If you're updating your iPad with an over-the-air iOS update, the following Knowledge Base article offers up some practical steps for troubleshooting some of the issues that can arise:
Resolve issues with an over-the-air iOS update - Apple Support
In your instance, these sections may prove particularly useful:
Download takes a long time, or you can't reach update server
iOS updates require a persistent Internet connection, and the time it takes to download the update will vary according to the size of the update and your Internet speed. You can use your device normally while downloading the iOS update, and iOS will notify you when you can install the update. To improve the speed of the download, avoid downloading other content.
If you get a message that "an error occurred downloading iOS," try again later. If the issue persists, try updating your device in another network or use iTunes to update your device. Learn more about iOS updates.
    Update does not complete
If you're installing the update and the progress bar appears to move slowly, be patient. The time an update takes depends on the size of the update and the number of files on the device.
When you're updating over the air, keep your device connected to a power source so that it doesn't run out of power. If your device does run out of power, connect it to a power source and turn on the device to let the update or restore complete.
If the update never completes and the progress bar hasn't moved for an extended time, try restarting your device. If you still see the issue after you restart, see what to do if your device appears frozen or won't start.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro.
