HT6058 Having trouble with an IPhone 4 - Please help!
Hello, All. I recently inherited an iPhone 4. I attempted to download an app and was told that I needed to update the software first. As there was a software update available, I installed it. Now, the phone won't work or restore. The screen is fixed on an image of the iTunes logo and picture of the iTunes USB. I have no idea what to do. Please help.

Terminal -> Shell -> New Command... ->
copy and paste this command into the new command dialog box and look at the results
/bin/ls -l .bash_profile .bash_login .profile .bashrc
You may get output such as:
-ls: .bash_login: No such file or directory
-ls: .profile: No such file or directory
-rw-r--r-- 1 raharris staff 31561 Sep 5 18:13 .bash_profile
-rw-r--r-- 1 raharris staff 58026 Nov 17 11:39 .bashrc
If all 4 files come up No Such File or Directory, it is not a bad shell initialization file
If you do have one of these files, such as my example .bash_profile, then you need to move it out of the way
Terminal -> Shell -> New Command... ->
copy and paste one of the following commands into the new command dialog box to move the selected shell initialization script out of the way
/bin/rm .bash_profile saved.bash_profile
/bin/rm .bash_login saved.bash_login
/bin/rm .profile saved.profile
/bin/rm .bashrc saved.bashrc
repeat for each script was found the above 'ls' command -
Having trouble with I-Tunes, Please Help!!!!!!!! New User
Hi, im having continous problems with i tunes im a new user and im finding very hard to work out how me and my girlfriend can use i tunes with different i pods. Im sure their is a way we can use the same program without having to keep deleting each others music and adding it all over again. Can someone please advise how we can both use i tunes from the same program/computer and have our own library of music without the others music be downloading onto the wrong i pods.

a) Sharing a single iTunes library and user account.
b) Creating multiple user accounts and having separate libraries.
Sharing a Library
If you want to share the one library, you can set either or all of the iPods so that they only get updated with only certain playlists (you can update from more than one if you wish):

Choosing the update option "Sync Music - Selected playlists" allows you to create a playlist specifically for the iPod and drag the tracks you want into it. If you tire of the list and want to change it, you just add or remove the songs you don't want. The ones you take out out remain in the library to be used some other time if you choose. Or you can choose to update any or all of the iPods manually and just drag whatever content you want to them: Managing content manually on iPod
Loading the iPod shuffle differs slightly but it can still be used with the others, for details have a look at this page:

Separate User Accounts
Another option is to create a separate User account for each person on your PC or Mac. Different accounts by definition would give you completely separate libraries. Each account has it's own iTunes folder, Library and iTunes Music folder and you load it with CDs etc just as you did with your original one. The iPod can be set to update however the owner chooses, sync all, manual or sync specific playlists -

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Has any of this been tried?

I have been having trouble with my iphone 4 for the past day . i tried to update it to 7.0.4 then the screen went blank and it keeps telling me to connect to itunes . I have connected it to 2 computers , using different cords and it doesnt recognize it . It says it is in recovery mode and i need to restore . after clicking restore it says that my iphone cannot be restored . I am very frustrated because i have been online searching for solutions all day and nothing seems to work . As soon as i turn on my phone it goes to the apple logo for about 2 seconds then the connect to itunes screen . SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP ! my phone is my life and i need it back on .
Connect the device to iTunes and restore from the most current backup.
If the issue continues, restore as new. -
I am having trouble with my iphone, I updated it and when I turned on the screen the ituns and USB icon appear. I've tried to restore it but it sends me to the ituns icon right away and I dont know what to do.

Won't like to what? Are you saying you can't access your camera roll from the Instagram app? Check Settings>Privacy>Photos and make sure Instagram is set to "On". You can't use the share button from a photo in your camera roll to post a picture to Instagram if that's what you're trying to do. That's not a feature of iOS.

I'm still having problems with XUL Runner - please help am getting desperate!
I recently sought help over a problem I am having with FF. When I try and load it, I get a message telling me that XUL runner 1.9.2.11 is not compatible with 1.9.2.12. The advice I received was to do a clean install. I have done this a number of times - using the Uninstall option in Control Panel as well as running the uninstall utility in the Firefox program folder. Each time I reinstall, and get the same problem. The only difference is that a few days ago I was installing FF 3.6.10, and that gave the error message that XUL runner 1.9.2.11 was not compatible with 1.9.2.10.
I have FF set as my default browser, so when I click on links in e-mails, etc. I get the same failure to load symptoms. However, I found by chance that FF works OK in conjunction with System Mechanic 10 - a maintenance utility I have on my machine. If I select the on-line help option from that Menu, FF loads and runs OK. I can open new tabs and have no problem loading other pages. However, even with FF open, if I click a link in an e-mail, I get the XUL Runner error message.
Although not all symptoms are the same, I am also having problems with IE8. When I run the program it loads, shows a 'connecting' message in the tab header, then closes. If I uninstall FF, then System Mechanic selects IE8 as the default browser, and as with FF, loads OK.
Chrome and Safari both run OK (thankfully). there must be someone out there who knows what this all points to - is that person you?!
Note: Trouble shooting information retrieved using FF when opened with System Mechanic.If you have such problems then you need remove the Firefox program folder before installing a new copy of the full Firefox installer.
It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling. -
contacted att about the issue, so I figured I would try here again. When I contacted ATT about it, and the person I talked to claimed that my service was not compatable with the phone. It is the 50 data package so I don't think that is the issue. Please help if you can.
No I haven´t take it to Apple Store, i think I will actually. My iphone was jailbroken and ulocked with gevey sim, but when this failures began i decided to restore it, and I did preserve the baseband, but when I took it into one of these "Places" they told me it would be a good idea to do a clean restore and see if this fixed the problem so I upgraded my baseband, and right now my iphone is freshly restore, no jailbreak no nothing.
Btw yes something like a year ago my screen was replaces by others not by apple, but I didnt had any issues after this.. until today (a little more than a year later). -
Having problems with USB cable, please HELP!
While trying to download aim/aol I was having problems with my USB cable and my phone being connected, it was like they were showing they were conneted but when I tried to download aim it said no drivers were recognised. My phone was giving me the option when the USB cable was plugged in asking me if I wantd to do something to do with the media mass storage.
Anyway, once the drivers were downloaded to my comp and I plugged USB cable into my phone and comp i'm no longer being asked on my blackberry about the mass storage, my phone doesn't seem to be recogniaing tht it's linked up to my computer at all even though it's showing the little plug thing in my blackberry and coming up on the computer.
Is there anybody out there who can help me?!
