HT6065 I updated my iMac computer to osx version 10.9.1 but now can't retrieve photo's from my lacie portable hard drive .  Also when my computer comes on it does not show the finder bar unless I have another program up like Safari...should I delete my up

I have updated my iMac ot osx 10.9.1 but my screen no longer shows my finder bar unless I activate another program like mail or safari.  also I can't access photos stored on my portable hard drive that was used before the update.  Should I unsubscribe my update?
