I play music on my hi fi via an airport express attached to my iMac.
Since installing maverick the sound quality is terrible and I get frequent distortion, which never happened before.
I have reset the airport express and reconfigure my wireless settings. I have also used Ethernet on its own but still get the same sound problems.
I would love to turn itunes sound off as you used to be able to do, but this I believe can't be done.
Has anyone else been having the same types of problem, and better still has anyone got the answer?When the AirPort Express Base Station (AX) is connected by Ethernet, you will find an option in the AirPort Utility, labeled: Enable AirTunes over Ethernet on the Music pane. Just select this option to allow streaming iTunes via the AirPort's Ethernet port. You should also be able to disable the AX's wireless so that it shouldn't interfere with the nearby TC.

Since I got the iOS 7 update my safari won't work on my iPad 2
My iPad was completely fine until I got the iOS 7 update and now my safari will only let me go on the suggested sites eg Apple Disney espn and yahoo. I don't know what's wrong it's not my internet or the iPad

Since installing Maverick my HP printer/scanner will not scan documents print or save them, how can I fix this?
this worked for my HP printer/scanner:
Try:
uninstall all printer manufacturer apps and "utilities"
go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners > Print
if your printer is there in the column on the left:
control-click on your printer
select "Reset Printing System..." and "reset" in the dialog that follows
if your printer is not in the column on the left, go to the next step.
do a factory reset on your printer. You'll have to consult the printer manual for how.
if you connect to your printer/scanner via wifi, reset the wifi system:
power down everything: modem, router, computer, and printer
power up each item in turn in the same order: modem, router, computer, and printer. Let each power up completely before moving on to the next
enter your wifi password in your printer so it can connect to the network
if you do not connect via wifi, go to the next step
go back to printers & scanners and it should see your printer and download a driver for it from Apple.If it won't, then try going to the HP website and there may be a new software package for your printer that is compatible with Mavericks. Download and install it. -
mavericks has broken most stock apps, app store ,preview, messages, facetime ect the list goes on they bounce in the menu then nothing its been like that since installing mavericks fixed briefly by reinstalling but then stopped again very quickly
any help ?You most likely ran a defective third-party "utility" such as "CleanMyMac" or "MacCleanse" that purports to "clean up" "junk" files. What it really does is to corrupt the operating system and many applications.
The first thing you need to do is remove that software according to the developer's instructions. Never install it, or anything like it, again. Then see below.
If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data, then reinstall the OS.* You don't need to erase the startup volume, and you won't need the backup unless something goes wrong. If the system was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you may need the Apple ID and password you used.
If you use FileVault 2, then before running the Installer you must launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the FileVault startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) It will be nested below another icon with the same name. Click the Unlock button in the toolbar and enter your login password when prompted. Then quit Disk Utility to be returned to the main Recovery screen.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
If you installed the Java runtime distributed by Apple and still need it, you'll have to reinstall it. The same goes for Xcode. All other data will be preserved.

Can Mavericks be uninstalled? Don't know if the discussion title pulled in all of my problem, so here it is again. Since installing Mavericks, my HP Printer adds an extra page to every print job, and iCal won't synch via iTunes with the Calendar on my iPhone 4s.
And no, I was a bad boy and had not been Time Machining. Guess I will now.

Since I have installed Mavericks the videos that I have in iphoto no longer automatically open with a click in quicktime. I cant seem to get them to play at all. I still have iphoto 08? Any ideas?

Since installing Mavericks some time ago, applications have become slow to open, proccesses have slowed and, well, eveything has slowed down some. Also, almost every day, sometimes more than once, the iMac will freeze for a second, then reboot itself. I've tried searching for similar posts but haven't found an answer yet. I did open the console (which, I confess, I don't understand) and I'm getting lots of messages. But, as I've never checked before, I have no idea whether any of them are normal. Thanks in advance for anyone's insight!Ok, so I think I got rid of everything you suggested, Arthur. No real improvement in speed, but the computer's four and a half years old, so... I should just be satisfied if it doesn't crash every day. That would be an improvement. I'll have to wait a few days to see. Since installing Mavericks on my MacBook Pro, I have many documents, but not all, that cannot be opened in either Pages 5 or in Pages '09. The names show in my document lists, but are greyed out. They do not show any extensions, but I'm sure at seast some of them are PDFs. As I cannot open them, I am unable to try to experiment with any solutions - I am not tech savvy, but can sometimes fix things by trial and error. I have no issues with sharing documents as I have no other devices. I just want to be able to open my saved documents! Also, the documents I can open have to be persistently coaxed to open to a point that it is extremely aggravating. I am not so happy with this recent "upgrade." Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
You use Finder to find stuff. It is what you use to look at where your files are kept and to rename, move or trash them. If you double click on a file in Finder it finds the right software to open it for you.
To open particular files you use the right software for each type. Usually, but not always, the software that made the file.
Pages opens files ending in .pages. Also .txt, .rtf, and doc.
Pages 5 is the latest (but certainly not the greatest) version of Pages. It has trouble opening all sorts of files including the older Pages '09 files but it will still do it.
Unfortunately Apple has chosen for Pages 5 to also save its files as exactly the same file extension .pages despite it being a different format that can not be opened by the older Pages '09.
As we all know Apple is wise and great beyond belief and would not do something that on the face of it looks extraordinarily stupid and shortsighted. Therefore we know that it must be our fault and we are not holding the software right. Because we are bad users, we must be punished, by either having to use Pages 5 or jump through hoops to avoid using Pages 5.
If you have installed Pages 5 any .pages file (old or new) will be opened by Pages 5. If you then save the file, Pages 5 will change the file format. So don't open your files with Pages 5 and don't save them if you do.
To stop Pages 5 opening and resaving your old files, you need to drag it to the trash and empty it.
When it is no longer around to annoy you, you can go back to using Pages 09.

Since installing Maverick, all Adobe CC apps crash when I am trying to save or import.
Since installing Maverick, all Adobe CC apps crash when I am trying to save or import. I might be able to save the file if I do not try to select anything other folder than the current folder that opens (last opened). I do not use the cover view option (I see some have had problems with that), but almost always have it in list view.
Is there some setting I need to set or is there a fix for this somewhere?

Trying to download the latest update for Epson printer/scanner but although it starts (up to about 5KB of 26.8MB) it stops without completing. The download list shows it is installed ( 8 times!) but there is nothing in Finder downloads. What can I do to download this update

Annoying!Regarding time machine, it probably took a full backup after you put mavericks on. To investigate, open Console, select "All Messages" and type "backup" (without the quotes). It will then only show you backup-related messages. If you're not sure how to read those, copy them and paste them into a reply here; we can investigate the situation.

Since installing Mavericks I'm getting a message that Shockwave will not load
Since installing Mavericks yesterday I am now getting a message that apple cannot load Shockwave Flash - cannot play any games on Facebook because Flash will not load - tried disabling the oldest of 2 versions but that made no difference. Any suggestions?
I did a full factory reset on the Apple TV and then set evrything up again. Synced all my stuff from the computer, which seemed to download ok, but still get the "Your Apple TV is not authorized to play this content" message. It's very frustrating. All the content was purchased from the iTumes Canada store, I'm in Canada but can't watch it on the TV. I tried changing to the US store but same message. I think I'll just give up. This is the first time I have ever had a problem with an Apple product and I have never used anyrhing else but Apple. Thanks for your help anyway it's much appreciated.

I have done this on numerous occasions but I think that my Iphone has a defect. After many tries, reinstalls, deletion of content, changing content to be stored on external hard drive, deleting itunes and cleaning computer I managed to get all of the songs on and things seemed okay for a while.
The problem returned about a week ago after downloading a new album from Itunes. I now have 12.5k of songs leaving 10gb spare on Iphone which should be more than enough room to operate properly. Last night it seemed to be dowloading ok (after doing all of the above again for the umpteenth time) this morning it revealed that it had just synched 2.5k of songs and 18gb of "other" on the contents bar. it wont synch now as it says its over capacity. So the 18gb of "other" would probably be corrupted data that means it must corrupt each song as it tries to synch it.
The 2.5k of songs it did synch are working on the Iphone as is every song in the library on Itunes. I did completely delete the new album I bought and redownloaded it from the store then tried to synch just that album and it worked fine.
Just about time to dump apple I think!
