HT6104 Safari won't launch after 7.1 update
Just did the latest SW update for Safari v 7.1 and now it wont open. (am using Firefox now as a result).
All other SW in Mavericks is up to date
Using MBP retina mid 2012 2,3ghz Interl Core i7
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen. Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then take one of the actions that you're having trouble with. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

Safari won't launch after 3.1.1. download mistake
safari won't launch after download of 3.1.1 by mistake I only have OS 10.3.9.
mail won't relaunch either, i downloaded camino it won't launch either, my fire fox works but i can't get to my mail. How do I clean up this mess.Mail relies on WebKit for rendering, so it may have problems even after you got rid of the old Safari. I would try download the Mac OS X 10.3.9 Combo Update, and that should update WebKit and everything else for you. It's a 117 MB download, including all the extra languages.
As for upgrading to 10.4.11, that's a completely new version of Mac OS X compared to your current version. It's faster, has more features, and you can actually run Safari 3.1.1 on it. It's not sold by Apple anymore, but various retailers have unsold copies still available. You might want to check around locally for a "Retail" (boxed) copy, or even on eBay for the same thing. Don't even think about buying a cheap copy for a laptop, since those are specific to those machines; you always want the full boxed copy.

Safari won't load after latest software update
After the latest software update from Apple, Safari won't load. I've deleted the p.list and run OnyX to clean the system. It still won't load. This is a pain as Safari is my default browser and I have to get into Safari to change that. Has anyone else had this problem and fixed it?
Thanks!
Quicksilver G4 Mac OS X (10.4.5) 1.5Gb RAMWelcome Pauline;
Actually you can change your default browser from within Mail, just go to Mail preferences and set the default browser to whatever you want. Unless you have cloned your system (before the update)which I heartily recommend,
you may have to use Pacifist to extract Safari from
the 10.4 installation package.
Hope this helps,

Safari won't launch after security update. ATSServer issue?
I installed Security Update 2008-007, restarted my machine and went to launch Safari. The icon bounced but the menu bar at the top didn't change to Safari and after a few minutes I got a window appear telling me Safari had quit unexpectedly.
I went through some forums and tried a bunch of fixes: I re-installed, trashed the prefs, history etc, removed all the plug-ins but none of this worked.
In the end I found mention of the ATSServer, which I killed in the terminal. Immediately Safari launched. What's the issue here? Has the latest update caused a problem with ATSServer?
My Mac is:
System Version: Mac OS X 10.5.5 (9F33)
Model Name: Mac mini
Model Identifier: PowerMac10,1
Processor Name: PowerPC G4 (1.1)
Processor Speed: 1.42 GHz
Number Of CPUs: 1
L2 Cache (per CPU): 512 KB
Memory: 1 GB
Bus Speed: 167 MHz
Boot ROM Version: 4.8.9f1I presume when you were doing the Repair function booted from the CD that eventually you said "Repair" and it scanned the drive and said in green, "No problems found" or similar stuff.
Another way to effect repairs is to hold down the Shift key at Startup, which does a Disk Repair as it starts up, so it takes a while longer that usual, then loads the smallest-possible set of extensions and boots into "Safe Mode".
Directory problems like "Keys out of order" or reports that there is a problem, but Disk Utility cannot repair it are a serious concern, and may require industrial-strength disk recovery tools. -
Safari won't launch after upgrade to Leopard
I upgraded from Tiger to Leopard and now when I launch my Safari browser I get an error saying "You cannot use the application "Safari" with this version of Mac OS X. Also when I try to reinstall Safari from Apple.com I get an error saying "...kfjcl5g3.dmg cannot be saved. the source file cannot be read".
Is there an known fix for this problem?Hi
Welcome to Apple Discussions
Go to your Applications folder. Which version of Safari is installed - for Leopard 10.5 or 10.5.1 it ought to be Safari 3.0.4. For 10.5.2, it ought to be either 3.1 or 3.1.1.

Safari won't launch after update
I just did a software update today. I updated iTunes, Safari, Quicktime, and Java. None looked to be "major" updates. Now I cannot launch Safari. A window will open and partially load -- then it just quits. I've restarted my computer twice. No luck.
Any idea which update is causing it? Is there a way I can back down from 2.0.1?Hi Sally,
Welcome to Discussions.
When it crashes, can you click on the (Report...) button, select and copy all the text in the window that appears and post it here? It may take a few posts to get it all on due to the maximum message size that can be posted here.
Alternatively, feel free to mail the text to me (click on my name to the left to get my details). -
Safari won't launch after installing 10.5.1 update
I get a message saying Safari is not supported by that version of MAC OS. As 10.5.1 is the newist version, is there a Safari update I'm missing, or is this a bug in 10.5.1?
I'm having the same problem here. Running safari on 10.5.1. Safari simply wont lunch . It keeps quitting everytime. Is there a patch coming for this bug ?

Powerbook G4 12" 1.5GHz Mac OS X (10.4.5)- FOR OS VERSION UPDATES YOU CAN ROLL THEM BACK
have to trash the UPDATE10.4.?.PKG file that is located in:
Hard drive> Library> recipts folder> ??.pkg file. (check spotlight search if you cant navigate to the Recipts folder for .pkg files to take out the one for the latest update you have done.
Basically the only way to "roll back" any applications or drivers that are updated is to do an entire Archive and Install of your OS (can do preserving user and network settings and WILL NOT LOOSE ANY DATA) see knowlege base article 107120 for A&I how to. You can always do the software updates later after the A&I.
That particular security update may have been faulty so of course, mabye try the DL again to see what happens and by all means CHECK THE SUPPORT TAB of this site for software updates if you want to do them. IF IT AINT BROKE, DONT FIX IT. most software updates do little or nothing for the application and somtimes they could cause problems LIKE loosing your itunes library when going from 5.0 to 6.0 and so on... -
Safari quits on launch after latest Software Update (2011.07.21)
Title basically says it all. I'm still running 10.6.8, but I updated the software this morning and now Safari quits immediately on launch. I have removed all extensions manually, but the problem persists.
Could this be a font issue? Some other conflict?
Any help is appreciated. Thanks,Post a crash log so we can try and help...
If Safari has just crashed, press the Report button on the CrashReporter dialog box to view the crash information.
Copy/paste the entire contents of the Crash Reporter window into your reply. If the crash report dialog does not appear or the crash is hard to reproduce, crash logs can be retrieved from the ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter> folder. -
Sampletank 2.5 won't launch after installing Logic update 9.1.7
After installing 9.1.7 update, my Sampletank 2.5 XL will not launch. Contacted IK Multimedia to troubleshoot, they pointed the finger back at Apple. ????
What OS are you on? I just checked it in SN 10.6.8 and Logic 9.1.7 64 bit and it opened fine in the 32bit bridge.

Safari won't work after 10.5 update
I just updated my Power Mac G5 to leopard. For the most part I love the new features of the system but I have not been able to use Safari since the update. Safari will open and connect to the internet but it will not fully load any web page and basically just locks up. I do not get any warnings or the spinning beach ball of death, it just won't do anything. My wife has complained that she loses the scroll bar on her 12" powerbook but is other wise able to use safari most of the time. Any help?
Also, Mail will just open and close on its own at random intervals. Weird.
Thanks,
ElliottI also deleted Safari and tried to reinstall it from the Apple website but It would not let me install it. I got to "select location" section and it would not allow me to select any of my drives because it said it required10.5.2 or newer. I have 10.5.3. Any Help?

Muse won't launch after 2014.3 update
Since the new update, I've not been able to launch Muse at all. The process bar almost completes and then I get this message:
I have trashed preferences, uninstalled and reinstalled it a few times to no effect. Any ideas?Do you have 1 or more files listed in your Assets panel with file names that are 3 letters and have no file extension? If so, please try renaming (anything other than 3 letters with no extension) and relinking those files. Then retry export/upload/publish.

HT1338 Safari won't open after a system update
I performed an update on Mac OS X Lion and now I can't get Safari to open. The message I get is that Safari quit unexpectedly. The Reopen button does not open it either. What do I do now?
Step one is to log into a newly created admin user account and see if the problem persists.

Applications Won't Launch after installing Quicktime Update
sorry...i put this in the wrong forum
Message was edited by: schleppklangI have now added back all the items which were in my original Logins List except for "Spark Daemon" (a shortcuts manager), which I no longer have on my system. Leopard appears to be running fine now. Perhaps populating the list again was all that was needed.

Safari won't launch, can't send crash report
hi all,
i have a 2009 macbook pro running 10.5.8. for several days now safari crashes out while using it. when it does that, i have to force quit the program and relaunch. very often, the browser won't relaunch at all. if i leave it alone for a while, sometimes it relaunches.
this morning, however, after the browser crashed, the whole system froze. i force quit everything, shut down and restarted, and then shut down normally and restarted again. while the system is fine, safari won't launch at all now. the menu bar comes up, but then times out and i get the pinwheel.
i really like using safari and have all my bookmarks on the browser which i really need on a daily basis.
does anyone have any solutions on what i can do? or how to retrieve the bookmarks and port them to firefox?
thanks.thanks for replying!
here's the report... it's super long. hope it fits.
