  • I have Quicken for mac 2005, can I upgrade to Maverick from OS X 10.6.8?

I have Quicken for mac 2005, can I upgrade to Maverick from OS X 10.6.8 and not keep all data?

I am new to the Apple Support community but am hopeful that you can help me!!  I have just bought a MacBook Air, migrated my stuff and found that my Quicken for Mac 2005 is no longer supported. (I still have my Quicken 2005 working on my Mac OS X - Version 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard?)  I saw a thread of communications back in 2012/13 where you helped a lot of people find ways to get their 2005 data into new versions - something about a $15 purchase.  However, I can't find those discussions again.  AND I don't know if they are 'relevant' because I'm now using the latest Yosemite, which someone just told me to upgrade for free....But this same person told me to switch to iBank, which others who have used Quicken for years didn't like.  I'd just as soon stay with Quicken but it seems like they have less support for Mac users.  Do you think I can move my data successfully still?  I live and work overseas and leave the USA on Monday and am trying to leave my older MacBook Air (the one with my 2005 Quicken on it) here....
    Thanks for any advice.

  • How can I upgrade to Maverick from 10.6.8? I cannot seem to find it in the Apple Store.

How can I upgrade to Mavericks from 10.6.8? I cannot find in in the Apple Store. Thanks.

As of now you can upgrade to Yosemite, but not to Mavericks, at the App Store.
    Upgrading to Mavericks
You can upgrade to Mavericks from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mavericks can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for FREE.
    Upgrading to Mavericks
To upgrade to Mavericks you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Download Mavericks from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mavericks is free. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.

  • HT6114 Looking To Upgrade To Mavericks From Snow Leopard....

I own a black Macbook Pro and am currently running Snow Leopard. I've maxed my RAM to 4 GB and processing to 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, but when I went to install Mavericks from this website, it said that it can't be installed on this computer.  Does anyone know why?  Is my computer too old?

I think mine is called the early 2009 Mini, a similar generation, and I'm running latest and greatest Mavericks:
    Model Name:          Mac mini
    Model Identifier:          Macmini3,1
Processor Name:          Intel Core 2 Duo
    Processor Speed:          2.26 GHz
    Number of Processors:          1
    Total Number of Cores:          2
    L2 Cache:          3 MB
    Memory:          4 GB
The first thing that came to my mind was that I also might have seen that message but proceeded anyway because I could. Today blocks are set up to warn consumers off because they'll think features like ThunderBolt and LIghtfoot are available on their machines just because they saw it on TV. I'd be disappointed too if it turns out I could upgrade everything I needed but there was some system gestalt thingy that wouldn't let the installer proceed.
So what was a black MacBook Pro originally? Wiki says they started as Core Duo and moved up to Core 2 Duo and 8GB RAM OEM, only addressing 4GB, so I imagine there's trouble with Mavericks trying more addresses on machines that don't have them available?
I would expect to move from Snow Leopard, to Lion (to Mountain Lion), and to Mavericks out of hand, because they shipped that way new before the air style took over. Do you have 160GB boot drive, at least room enough to copy the whole thing down? Also, something in the middle was a paid upgrade, so is the Mavericks blocked by the fact nobody is allowed to jump that far ahead past a paid jump?

  • Can I upgrade to Maverick from OSX 10.7?

I havent upgraded to Mountain Lion
Will I be able to upgrade to Mavericks - i.e. skip Mountain
    Thanks
    Omar

You probably will, but it'll also depend on the hardware requirements of Mavericks. And we don't know those until Apple announces them.

  • Can you upgrade to mavericks from older versions besides Mountain Lion?

Previously, since they were paid, you had to pay your way up to the second-most recent one to upgrade to the most recent one.
However, since Mavericks is free, are you allowed to go from say 10.6 to 10.9, skipping the fee for 10.8 and 10.7?
EDIT: I now know you can jump from 10.7 to 10.9. Can you jump from 10.6 to 10.9?

    yes.

  • Can't upgrade to Mavericks from 10.7.5 (Mid-09 MBP)

    Hey all,
Having a bit of a debacle here.
My MBP had the hard drive cable go kaputz, so I replaced it, then reloaded 10.6 back onto it. I was running Mavericks beforehand.
Well, I had my old HDD ghosted and all of my content is on my new drive, including my apps that are now set to 10.9, so I went to the app store, downloaded 10.9, tried installing it, and now it says "Mavericks cannot be installed on this computer."
Thought it was a Snow Leopard issue so I went to my previous purchases, installed Lion, and now it's giving me the exact same message.
I know my MBP can run it. ****, I had it as my OS for 4 months. What gives?
    Thanks in advance.

Instead of downloading from the App Store, try OS X Recovery.
Startup your Mac while holding down the Command + R keys.
From there you should be able to access the built in utilities to reinstall OS X.

  • I can not upgrade to Maverick from the App store

Though it is available for me to download.  My specs are: MacBook c. 2010, OS X Lion 10.7.5, 2GB 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM and 48GB free.  Is there aay for me to know what I am missing? Why it won't install?

That could be one of two models with that designation. Neither of which will accept Mavericks.

  • I upgraded to Mavericks from 10.6.8 and I no longer have any of my mail folders in macmail. If I look up an email via spotlight, I can find it, so it's in there. How do I restore my folders?

I upgraded to Mavericks from 10.6.8 and I no longer have any of my mail folders in macmail. If I look up an email via spotlight, I can find it, so it's in there. How do I restore my folders?

As an update: I was able to find my archived boxes and emails on my hard drive by doing this:
    Open a Finder window.
Select Go | Go to Folder… from the menu.
    Type "~/Library/Mail/V2".
Once I was able to get my macmail working properly, most of my mailboxes appeared, however not all and only a few recent emails are in a few of the boxes.
I really need to move the emails from the archive back into my macmail. When I try to import using the mbox method, it doesn't recognize the .mbox even though they are .mbox. Other than re-emailing each individually to myself, I don't know what to do. Does anyone out there have any suggestions as to some easier solution?

  • Recently upgraded to Mavericks from 10.6.8. Now I can't access Segoe UI Light when in any Microsoft 2011 Office for Mac app.

I recently upgraded to Mavericks from 10.6.8. Now I can't access Segoe UI Light when in any Microsoft 2011 Office for Mac app. When I open files using Segoe UI Light created before the OS upgrade, another font shows up on the page, yet checking the ribbon, it lists the font as Segoe UI Light. Only Light ( Regular, SemiLight, Semibold, Bold, etc. are all accessible) and only Microsoft apps (works fine in Adobe suite). The Segoe UI family is enabled in Font Book. This font is used extensively in company presentations and documents, so I absolutely need access to it. Anyone have any suggestions?

I am trying to upgrade to Mavericks from 10.6.8.  It tells me to close all open applications.  However, Safari will not close and the installation cannot proceed.  Any suggestions?

Either try to force quit Safari (press Command + Option + Escape keys and then choose force quit in the pop up window), or, you can also shut down the computer. Then boot up and open the app store application to download Mavericks - you don't need Safari for it.

The v10.9.2 link you posted from is not an upgrade. It's an update for Mavericks only.

  • How can I upgrade to Maverick 10.7?

One week ago I purchased Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.3 (upon the recommendation of a Genius).  Now I discover that I require a higher version.  How can I upgrade to Maverick 10.9 at no additional cost?

Update to 10.6.8 to get the latest version of the App Store.
Once there you can purchase and download Mavericks from the App Store.
