HT6114 I hve been trying to upgrade to apple mavericks ...

I hve been trying to upgrade to apple mavericks and the online tech told me to first upgrade to snow leopard then to mavericks...so i bought the disk as it is not available online but now its stuck on updating the combined software...what should I do now?

HI and thanks for responding...
I am trying to finish the uploads now...the disk installed fine but it is the update combined packages that seem to be stuck, it could be a slow connection perhaps...i have to baby the computer it seems, if I leave it for more than an hour or two then it seems to shut off and I have to start over...
the error message is that it has not finished downloading the combined updates...
also when I look at the version of mac os x it says 10.6.3
could it be an issue with the processor?
I have a 2.4 Ghz

Upgrading the iOS "over-the-air" was introduced with iOS 5. If you are currently running an iOS version < 5.0 you can only update through iTunes. Connect your iPad to your PC or Mac. Open iTunes and click on "Check for updates"

  • Trying to upgrade OS X Mavericks for months now.

It seems like I've been trying to upgrade to OS X Mavericks for months now. I keep getting this message -The file couldn’t be saved because you don’t have permission.(513). Why? And what can I do to fix this so that I can upgrade?

Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions - Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Proceed to the following.
Reset User Permissions and ACLs in Lion/Mountain Lion
From the Utilities menu select Terminal. At the Terminal prompt enter: resetpassword. Press RETURN. When the window opens select your startup drive where it says "Select the volume containing the user account:" At the bottom of the window you will see, "Reset Home folder permissions and ACLs." Click on the Reset button.
See if this fixes your problem.

  • I have been trying to change my apple id to my new email address and it says the id egsists what do i do

i have been trying to change my apple id to my new email address and it says i cant as the id is in use what do i do

If your new email address is an Apple-related email account (e.g., Mobileme account), you will get the 'email is already in use' message.  If this is the case, you cannot consolidate your old Apple ID with your new one.  I (and many others) have ran into this same issue.
If this is indeed the cause of your problem, I recommend that you start using your new Apple ID exclusively.  If you made a considerable number of purchases under your old Apple ID (i.e., through iTunes), you will still  have to log in under your old ID for that account.
Hopefully, one day Apple will allow us to consolidate accounts.
    I hope this helps.
    Rex

  • HT201364 I have a 2013 iMac, with OS X version 10.8.5.  Have been trying to download OS X Mavericks without success; error message "we could not complete your purchase, the product distribution file could not be verified, etc".  Please help; TQ

I have a 2013 iMac, with OS X version 10.8.5.  Have been trying to download OS X version 10.9 (OS X Mavericks) without success; error message "we could not complete your purchase, the product distribution file could not be verified, etc".  Please help; TQ

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you boot, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Trying to upgrade to osx mavericks, but keep getting message that apple ID is disabled?

Hi, When I try to download my free upgrade to osx Mavericks, I get a message that "We could not complete your request. there was an error in the App store. Please try again later. (100)". When I click the OK on that message, I get another message that my "apple ID is disabled, and it points me to the itunes support URL." I can't tell you how many times I have resubmitted a new iTunes password.
Is this happening to others? What should I do?
    Appreciate your help.

Sometimes they can disable it due to perceived fraudulent activity. You may need to call AppleCare to determine if that is the case.

  • Have been trying to upgrade my plan for a week now, had it handled but they are now reneging on the agreement they made. Basically happy to see my family leave over a one time $30 charge.

I Went to the store to upgrade phones and get a new plan. They didn't have any of the three phones I was gettin, Tried to sell me a plan for 8 gigabyte, even though we don't even use 1 now. Left mad, manager watched and did nothing. Tried to call, I got mad when the customer service agent chuckled at me. I was pretty well done then. Wife tried, had it all worked, we were getting the arrangements as we wanted them. I even listened since it was on speaker phone, she was still talking as she left the house, the Verizon phone dropped the call, she called back and now they won't us the same deal they already agreed to. I told her I would try one last time. I explai this was my last call, at the end I found that my plan is paid through the 21st. What is really bad is that they don't even care enough to have a supervisor call. They won't even let me speak to one. I was willing to stay with them because in the past I had never had a problem with them, now I can see how they could be any worse.

    Kccustomer wrote:
mrhelper, you sure are knowledgeable about Verizon, the $30 fee is the cost to upgrade one of my phone. I feel that this is unreasonable since I do not have a contract and a new customer does not have to pay that.
The only time you pay the upgrade fee is if you take a subsidized discount on a phone and that does in fact require a contract. new customers have to pay a $35 activation fee.
As far as me being knowledgeable this fee has been in place for 2 1/2 and was announced on every major news source and is CLEARLY labeled on each phone in the stores and online. In fact my local store has a huge sign right at the counter stating that all upgrades are assessed a $30 upgrade fee. So know it doesn't take a lot of knowledge to know this fee exists.

  • I have been trying to upgrade to iOS 5.1 for a while now and cannot find  out how to do it any hintsout hoe

I cannot upgrade my iPad 2 with iOS 5.1 for a while now any hints.?

First thing to try is a reboot of your iPad. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the iPad restart. See if that fixes your problem.
    Try the update again
Settings > General > Software Update
The update servers have been very busy so keep trying.
