Ever since I upgrade to the 7.1.1 software many of the tools I used to use I can no longer use. I used to be able to download pictures from Iphone to my laptop- now the laptop does not recognize the iphone as having any pictures on it.
I keep losing internet whereas I can even Google Maps.
I keep getting "TRUST THIS COMPUTER" whenever I plug into the USB port- I answer yes- and it keeps comming up
Any one out there in Iphone world that has fixed a simular issue- I hate going to the Apple store- it takes too many hours- even with an appointment- there must be a friendlier way. I will try this and see

But a great hint is- Always click on the [Create a Saved Book] button, early in your new book design.
Then you have a permanent link to the book in the Collections panel. (In addition to the standard collection of your selected images)
Note: a Book Collection shows an icon that looks like a book.
Every time you come back to edit the book, open the Book Module by clicking on the white arrow that appears on the end of your Book Collection title. (The title as saved)
Re-opening a book without using the "Saved Book" option can have unpredictable results.
A "Book" Collection is like a "Smart Collection" because anything you do to the book design, change pages, change images, etc, is automatically updated in the Saved Book collection.

I can not view pdf's in safari but I use to be able to.

I can not view a pdf in safari and I used to be able to. I can view pdfs in preview but i often click on pdf links and it takes me to a blank page. I have looked into it and I found that adobe acorbat is the recomended viewer for safari. I have tried to find out if i have still got it and I have found a few acrobat plug-ins. Does anybody know how to fix this problem? Thanks

Back up all data.
Quit Safari. In the Finder, select Go ▹ Go to Folder... from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Copy the line of text below into the box that opens, and press return:
/Library/Internet Plug-ins
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then launch Safari and test.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

The nice thing about owning this overpriced POS is that Apple not only doesn't support it, but also doesn't want to hear about anything negative regarding it. So you have business contacts that were lost... do you not have these on a Database in some shape or form? Sounds like you need to invest in a RAID1 backup setup for your computer so you dont have this issue in the future.
As for repairing your problem, sounds like you are going to need to start from scratch at this point or if the data is still on your phone look into a program that can take the information from the phone onto iTunes.

Try deleting iTunes from your computer. Do not delete your iTunes library. Then download and install a fresh copy if iTunes. Reboot your computer after installation of iTunes.
Then reboot your phone. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart.
Reconnect the phone to your computer running iTunes and see if the sync process will go through.

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Has any of this been tried?

Turn your phone off and connect your cable to the computer, but not the device just yet. Start up iTunes. Now, hold down the home button on your phone and plug it in to the cable - don't let go of the button until iTunes tells you it's detected a phone in recovery mode. Now you can restore to factory settings.
Unfortunately, the data on your phone is already gone if you're seeing the connect to iTunes logo.

If you're on a mac, close iPhoto if it is open. In Finder open Pictures and right-click on iPhoto Library. Select Show Package Contents. Right-click the iPod Photo Cache folder, select Move to Trash. Now sync and the "this iphone can not be synced. The required file is missing" error should be fixed.

Hi folks. Am REALLY struggling here and hoping for some help. I too am constantly getting the 'iPhone can not be synced' message since upgrading to a new MacBook and trying to sync my iPhone 3GS. Have tried updating to latest iPhone software and hasn't helped. Have tried all the stuff mentioned above (dumping that file etc) and no luck. When I go to my sync page for photos, even if i un-tick the sync photos option altogether, this error keeps appearing. Very odd and very frustrating. Can't sync - seems to stall at last step of the process every time.
I'm guessing it is photo related as the pics on my iPhone are now all lowres and blurry, and it is asking for sync to iTunes to get high res images onto the phone.
Also have problem going the 'other way'! WHen I go to iPhoto on Mac and try to download new photos taken on iPhone.. I keep getting the message 'The following file could not be imported. The file is an unrecognized format."

yes did you buy it of somebody or a well known company such as apple or carphone warehouse?
and i mean the phone would have been activated in the first place with the sim card you get given when you first get the phone.
trying to activate the phone with another sim card that you did not get when you brought the phone may result in you not being able to activate it
