HT6208 iOS 7.1.1 reverted answering calls to "slide to answer" instead of the much better "Answer" "Decline" buttons.  Why?

Why did the "Decline" and "Answer" buttons get replaced with the "Slide to answer" feature?  I liked the "decline" button.

User troubleshooting steps as outlined in the manual include restart, reset, restore, restore as new. Have you tried any of these? Restart involves powering off your phone and powering back on. Reset involves the following procedure:
Close all open apps by double-tapping the home button, then swiping up and off the screen with the app window (not the smaller icon).
Reset your device: hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until the screen goes black and you see the Apple, then let go. (No data loss)

Are the contact details in your contacts app, the phone app uses the contact app to put names against telephone numbers.

  • N80 crashes when answering calls using slider.

Have spoken to Orange about this and they are saying (as if they'd say otherwise) that this is a 'new' issue for them. Has anyone else experienced this?
Phone call comes in - open the slider to answer call only to have the phone lock-up. None of the menu buttons or keypad work. The phone keeps ringing with an active display but the only button that works is the power!
Orange have referred this to technical support.

    Thanks,

Well, after another referral to Orange Tech Support, I finally have a new handset.
I started having more 'crashing' events on my phone when using sms, gallery, camera.
Called Cust Service who wanted to do the same stuff all over again...i.e. reset phone but I insisted that they escalate it.
They got back to me within 72 hours and I had a new handset the following week. Upon checking I now have an up-to-date firmware.
As an aside, the new phone actually feels a lot different. The slide is firmer and more stable and the keypad also feels of a better quality. Anyone had similar experiences?
    Cheers,
    Matt

  • Cannot answer calls, cannot slide to answer

I have the i phone 4, it works fine until some calls, the phone rings and when i attempt to answer by sliding to answer, the touch screen doesnt work, i can mute the ring but cannot answer...

  • Since i have downloaded the new IOS 8 my ipod touch 5G has been much slower, is there any way to downgrade and get the MUCH better IOS 7 back?

I have recently downloaded the new IOS 8 and it has made my Ipod much slower.
is there any way to get IOS 7 back or a way to speed up IOS 8?

Downgrading the iOS is not supported by Apple:
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • Does Apple iPhone 4 Dock support answering calls through apple headphone

Does Apple iPhone 4 Dock support answering calls through apple headphone? or is the audio out just a simple audio out that cannot interact with the headphone cable remote control, e.g. answering calls , skipping to next song as we used to as normal?

From my experience, whichever one is connected last reigns supreme and takes over.
When I walk to my car, I have my headphones in, and when I plug it into my car dock (with the headphones still plugged in and music still playing), the music switches from the headphones and pumps through my car stereo.
Then when I get out of the car and plug my headphones in (with the car dock still attached and playing music), the headphones take over.

  • How do I pause book while answering call

When listening to a book on overdrive, how can I pause it to answer call?

    Hi Neophyte30
Try double-clicking the Click Box objects to edit the
properties. After you do this, look to the right of where you
specified the E-Mail address or the URL. See that button with the
down arrow? Click it and you should see some possibilities. If you
are linking to an E-Mail address, all you should see is "Continue
playing project". If you are linking to a URL, you should see
options for "Current, New, Top, Parent" and after choosing either
"New, Parent or Top", you should then be able to click again and
    DE-select the "Continue playing project".
Give that a go and I'm fairly certain you will have exactly
    what you are hoping for.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Answering calls from car no longer works with iOS 8 update

After updating the firmware to iOS8 my iPhone no longer answers calls from my car bluetooth audio. I get the call alert but the car answer button is disabled.. I am using standard bluetooth communication and not the A2DP technology.
Is anyone facing a similar issue?
    I am using iPhone 5s

I know that I had to delete the entry in the car's Bluetooth setup (for Steve's iPhone - replaced and iPhone 5 with 6) and then go through the setup again to get it to work. Perhaps that would solve your issue?

I had to reset my IPhone 5 after the new IOS 7.2 update because phone calls were not coming through. Now I no longer have the microsphone on the bottom of my key pad to do voice texts.

In iOS 7 you can still make calls from the locked screen. Just swipe the missed call numbers to the right. Is this a bug?

How is it a security breach? You're free to turn off lock screen notifications for the phone app so that no one can do that.... even if they can, they can only call the number that called you... nothing else. (well, except for 900 or whatever the emergency services number is where you are, but that's required by law).

  • Ready to throw my iPhone in the bin - answering calls

Hi guys, can anybody help me with how to fix my problem? Basically, I cannot answer my phone properly half the time, because of the "Remind me" and "Respond with message" buttons.
When I take it out of my pocket, these buttons are accidentally activated because the screen rubs against my pocket. It's not rare - it's about half the time. The phone stops ringing and I have to dismiss the screen, its a nightmare. Worse, I have even on several occasions accidentally declined calls with a response, it is so embarrassing to call back and explain the reason is my iPhone. When the other caller uses Android, the laughter back is painful.
I thought that it's common sense and basic design, that when a touch-screen phone is locked, no simple buttons should become active in case they are accidentally pressed in pockets. Isn't this why you have slide to open/answer call/open camera etc?
After so many feedbacks, and so many updates to iOS, I am really annoyed this problem is not addressed.
Perhaps there is some setting or feature I am missing? I just want to remove these buttons or make them sliders. The best I have found at the moment is activate Touch ID or passcode and disable the "respond with message" button, but the problem remains with the "remind me" button??
I have submitted feedback to Apple so many times, to please add a setting to disable BOTH these buttons AND to make sure it works with people who don't want to use Touch ID or passcode. After so many feedbacks and so many iOS updates, I think maybe I am missing something and I am not using my iPhone properly as surely such an essential feature can't be this badly designed. Can anyone help me please?

It's not odd at all. It's called the 'tip of the iceberg' effect.
No-one at the dinner table had reported it on Apple Support Communities either - not even myself ! This does not mean we have not met with this problem, or are liars or fantasists.
There are all kinds of bugs or issues or problems which so few people report. It does not make the problem any less real or popularly encountered or troublesome.
When there are problems that affect a large number of people it is reflected in the forums very quickly. For example:
You will note that it is 2 1/2 MILLION views and almost 13,000 posts. Before the thread was locked 3 years ago. This was an actual bug, and it affected less than 1% of iPhone users, but still got the response you see. And this was a time when there were less than 100 million iPhones in use. Now there are almost 600 million. So if yours was a problem for even a tiny minority you would see lots of posts about it.
You need to change the way you use the phone to avoid the problem. No point in getting a different phone, either, because all smartphones handle this the same way.

  • Dear Apple, unfortunately, I think I have found a bug in ios 7. During an incoming call is no call rejection or selection of the ability to send a text message. I hope it is a bug and there is a solution. Thank you very much.
