hello, i need help.. i have a problem with using handoff, if i open any app from my mac it doesn't show on my iPhone but if i opened anything from my iPhone it appears on the mac's docks! so whats wrong with it? knowing that my bluetooth is turned on both devices and its the same Wi-fi and the same iCloud account.

Sorry about lack of info it wont boot up at all they logged on to my computer to try and fix it but everthing they tried failed ,they formatted did something with java and changed some setting i was thinking maybe it has to with the my Mac for some help

Go into iMessage preferences, and then accounts and add your Apple ID email address into both your phone and your Mac. This should then sync them all up.

And the worst of all is that on my iPhone I have the same FaceTime and iCloud accounts and on my Macbook also. I can receive calls from my mac but I cannot make calls.

Why can't I hand off a call from my iPhone to my mac using continuity? Am I missing something? Does't seem to allow me to do this, just the other way around. Any suggestions?

When the call is already in progress it doesn't allow you to do that; just the other way around.

my home sharing continually fails between mac and apple tv 2, even during watching a movie. I go to the mac to re-turn on home sharing but it is still on. Any tips? I also have to turn off and back on at the mac every time i switch on my apple tv.

5. Check Firewall Settings
If you have a firewall enabled in your router or computer, make sure that the firewall is not blocking communication between your computers. Home Sharing uses TCP port 3689 and UDP port 5353 to communicate with shared iTunes libraries.
In addition, Apple TV and Mac computers will use port 123 to set the time automatically. Incorrect date and time on either the computer or Apple TV can cause errors for Home Sharing and connections in general.
If you are unsure whether your router has a firewall or the required ports open, test additional devices or another network to help isolate the issue. If the devices tested work on another home network, it is your router or network configuration.
For Mac OS X, you don't have to edit the port addresses, but make sure the firewall in Apple () menu > System Preferences > Security > Firewall are not set to:
Block all incoming connections
Allow only essential services
If you use another security/firewall software on your computer or router, follow this article or contact the manufacturer or check the documentation on how to open TCP ports 123 and 3689 as well as UDP ports 123 and 5353.
It made sense to me, but its still puzzling me after restarting a router would (in my first attempt) resolve the issue for a day. This this time I applied the port forwarding TCP and UDP ports and saved the settings in the DLink DIR-655 and both my iPad2 and iPhone 3GS were now again finding the share. My ATV2 is also now accepting the Share.
Tommorrow will be the true test.

Troubleshooting Address Book issues using Palm Desktop for Mac (v. 4.2.1) and a T3?

Can someone please make suggestions which would correct the following issues?
1) When printing an Address Book from my Mac, the information in the "title" field prints twice. (I have checked my Preferences settings & reviewed how I have entered the information, etc. and everything is in order; also, an Address CARD DOES print correctly --- and --- after syncing to my T3 and then to my husband's PC, an Address Book prints correctly from the PC.)
2) After I have synced the Address Book from my Mac to my T3, the "zip code" entries appear BEFORE the "city" entries on the T3. (The zip codes appear correctly on my Mac and print out correctly.)
3) After I have synced the Address Book from my Mac to my T3, the "contacts" all appear in BLACK on my T3. Is there any way to show the different "contact categories" in COLOR on the T3 as they were originally entered in my Palm Desktop for Mac?

Continuity only works mac to iPhone not the other way round

I have a 2011 macbook pro and iphone 5. Continuity works perfectly from my mac to iPhone 5 but not the other way round. This did work for a short time then just stopped without me changing any settings. Does anyone have any ideas?

What aspect of Continuity are you having issues with? Your 2011 MacBook Pro does not meet the requirements to use Handoff and Instant Hotspot between a Mac and iOS device. Macs can access and use Windows formatted iPods just fine. So if you prefer to use the iPod as is on the new Mac, you can plug it in and use it Windows formatted if you like. You will get a message about the iPod being synced to a different computer though, and do you want to erase the iPod and sync it with the Mac's iTunes library.

No. You need to buy it for your Apple ID and for the other. You will have problems with updates

Is it possible to set up Time Capsule on one network and then access its stored data (movies) using Back to My Mac from another network that also has Apple TV to play them?

I recently purchased a Time Capsule to store data at my office. I have an Apple TV at my home that I would like to start using to play my movies. With the storage of the new Time Capsule, I am curious if I can somehow store my iTunes movies on the Time Capsule at my office and then use Back to My Mac to access the TC from my home and then play them via Apple TV. Does this sound possible? We have an iMac at the office that remains on 24/7 connected to the TC.

ATV cannot play movies from the TC, even if it is on your home network.. ATV is a streamer.. it is not a media player.. and the TC is a dumb as a board hard disk in a router.. so it has nothing in it either.
You cannot play movies from ATV without itunes, which streams to the ATV.
If the iMac is running 24/7 then you should be able to connect to the iMac remotely and run from iTunes on that, which could then play movies stored on the TC.. with the following issues.. if you use wireless on the iMac forget it. The iMac has to be ethernet connected as it has to pick up the movie on the library and play it back to the TC to network to your home.
The next issues is speed of slowest connection.
Your download to your home maybe great.. what is the upload speed from your office like??
If you pay for uploads and downloads you will pay for the movie 3x.. first to download it.. second to upload it.. office to net.. and third to download it again.. net to home.. Sorry but it is better to play the movie directly from online itunes store.
If you plan to try and play non-itunes movies over the connection, it won't work.. ATV as stated is linked to itunes and cannot play movie files.
Overall this sounds like you need to think it out a bit more.

There are ThunderBolt to FireWire adapters.
As far as I know there are no FireWire to USB 3 adapters.

How can I use Back to My Mac using my Apple ID

I'm having problems accessing my other computers using Back to My Mac. I've gone into System Prefference>iCloud and turn on Back to My Mac on all mey devices. I've have also gone into my router settings and opened the appropriate ports. I can see my other divices in Finder. When I go to connect I am given a choice of "As a registered user" which works sometimes and not others and also "Using an Apple ID" when I choose this option my Apple ID appears in the drop down box (and is the only option in the drop down box). Howevere, when I click "Connect" it comes up with Authentication failed to JQ MacBook Air.
Any Ideas

How do I use Back to My Mac with a new Time Capsule if I don't have a MobileMe account?

I just got a new time capsule and I'm trying to set it up so that I can remotely access the files when I'm at work/on the go etc. Now I have an iCloud account, but I don't have a MobileMe account. I do have an @me.com address because I enabled Mail thru the iCloud pref pane and I setup the @me.com email address but I'm still not able to use back to my mac.
I am running the latest fully updated version of lion on the latest model air, working with a 2TB 4th gen time capsule
