HT6400 10.9.5 update defected my MacBookPro8,1 SATA controller

Dear all,
I have a MacBookPro8,1 with an Sandisk 256G Ultra SSD instead the HDD (the HDD is moved to the DVD bay).
It worked nice for a half a year, but after this update on friday I could not access the SSD. DiskUtility sees only the HDD.
SSD via external USB case is ok. Other HDD cannot be detected neither by the builtin controlled.
I already tried all resets SMC & co. and I also checked that the firmware (SSD, boot ROM and SMC) are up to date.
The funny thing is that the second SATA controller channel is working nicely with the original HDD.
Any ideas are welcome? What else can it be rather than a bug in the new apple firmware?

Asmedia SATA Controller Update Problem

I have the Z77A- GD65 Gaming board which has two Intel SATA 6 GB/s ports and two Asmedia 6 GB/s ports. I have two mechanical drives in a RAID 0 array connected to the Intel ports and my Samsung SSD. which is also the OS drive, is connected to one of the Asmedia ports. Everything was working fine until today when I installed an updated driver for the Asmedia controller from the download site for my board. After I did that the Samsung software for the SSD indicated that AHCI had been disabled, and when I checked HWiNFO it also did not appear to be reading the drive info correctly.
There is no doubt the drive is running in AHCI mode. It isn't compatible with any other mode and there are no problems in terms of the drive's operation.I tried rolling back to the previous version and the problem went away. When I looked in Device Manager I discovered that the previous driver, when installed, is listed under IDE ATA/ATAPI, but when I install the updated driver it's listed under Storage Controllers and there is no longer any listing for IDE ATA/ATAPI devices. So it appears to be a fundamentally different type of driver.
I'm wondering if anyone has encountered a problem like this before and knows how to fix it so the new driver gets listed as an IDE ATA/ATAPI device and not a storage controller ? Thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks for the reply, the problem is that previously Asmedia installed a driver called asachi64.sys. Now the install package contains that driver and another driver, asstor.sys. With asahci64 installed the system recognizes it as an IDE ATA/ATAPI device, with asstor.sys, the system recognizes it as a generic controller, as indicated in your screenshot. Although there's an updated version of the asachi driver in the new install package it doesn't work. And because the new driver is a generic controller the system does not recognize the drive as having achi enabled, although it is.
The SSD software is Samsung Magician.http://www.samsung.com/global/business/semiconductor/samsungssd/downloads.html. In order for it to work properly the drive has to have ahci enabled, and that means having an achi driver installed, not a generic controller. Although the new Asmedia package contains an updated achi driver there's no way to install it. The package has two entirely different drivers but installs one by default and has no explanation how you install and enable the other one.

After Win 8.1 update - Lenovo System Update defective (doesn't find updates any more)

Lenovo System Update tells me that all is up to date!
I searched at Lenovo for new drivers for windows 8.1
They asked me exactly what notebook I use. For the x1 carbone 3460-4LG (checked 3 times because I couldn't believe it) they discribed my computer as:
i7-3667U(3.2GHz), 4GB RAM, 256GB Solid State Drive, 14in 1600x900 LCD, Intel HD Graphics, Intel 802.11agn wireless, WWAN, 1Gb Ethernet, UltraNav, Secure Chip, 4c Li-Ion, Win8 Pro 64.
My notebook has 8GB RAM, 180GB SSD and (as I believe) no carbone x1 has 1GB Ethernet, because it has no network connector at all!
So first question: can I believe the suggestions of lenovo for new drivers?
There are several drivers released in October 2013 that I surely do not have already installed.
That means, Lenovo System Update doesn't work any more, without error message!
Question two: Has Lenovo a solution to repair their defective updater? Or will they release a solution?

Another Workaroung wich could help is the Tool DriverEasy. It does scan yours system and shows you all missing Driver. The missing driver can be downloaded or directly installed.
For me it found every missing Driver on different Lenovo Modells. The only thing to use it as Full Service, is you have to buy it for i think about 30 $.

Can no longer burn audio cd's -- urgent -- is iTunes update defective?

I'm a composer-- we're getting ready to record another cd and I desparately need help here!!
I can no longer burn an audio cd from a play list! It burns but not as an audio. I also looked on directions and I'm supposed to be able to do this.
These are my tunes that I wrote and uploaded into the library and then moved to a play list
When trying to figure out what happened, I noticed that itunes had been automatically updated to the most current version on my computer --
I was still on 10.3 which doesn't support it -- I've since downloaded the 10.3.9 (plus checked other required software that's supposed to be updatyed) and still cannot burn the cd's

HT6400 screen choppy after update of Mavericks 10.9.5

I had no problems whatsoever with my macbook Air until now. i am really ******. Now even using the Apple TV viewing my home videos are getting all messed up because of it too. Not to mention all the choppy movements on my computer while working.
Apple, what is wrong with you? so many glitches on my phone, and now on my computer and apple tv? should I be worried? tell me how to fix this.
Ive rebooted several times. Ive checked for more updates incase I can have it fixed but to no avail. How how how do I fix this? ARrrrgh. Even writing this is a nuisance.

Nokia C3 V08.70 firmware update defective.

I recently updated my c3's firmware to the new V08.70 via Nokia Suite but now i have an extra communities icon and my Opera Mini 6 & several other apps wont run(pre-loaded ones still work) it gives a a ClassNotFound error, i tried re-installing it and uninstalling Nokia Suite, re-installing it but i still have the same problem. I also Reset my factory settings but i still have the same problem.

ClassNotFound refers to a Java error, so there must be something botched with the installation of the firmware update. as you have already tried re-installing the firmware, unfortunately your only option now is to take your phone to your local Nokia Care point for them to inspect: http://nokia.com/support

10.5.2 Update Defective?

I downloaded the new 10.5.2 update to my desktop from http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosx1052comboupdate.html When I click on it I get the following warning:
"The following disk images failed to mount...
Reason: not recognized"
I've tried it several times with the same results. The first or second time I tried it, it downloaded TWO files, the dmg and a QuickTime file. I've experienced the same thing with other downloads. I now know that if I see a QuickTime file, my download won't be any good.
So does anyone know how I can install the 10.5.2 update?
On another note, what's the problem with QuickTime, anyway? I just finished wrestling with a "Setup Assistant Loop" bug which many people blame on a QuickTime update. If I uninstall or delete QuickTime, will it automatically cancel QuickTime updates?

How to get my custom controller updated with the global custom controller?

I'm new to CRM Web UI and need some advice from the expert. Currently I'm working on component ICCMP_BT_DATES and noticed something weird with this component. When this component is first launch it display the dates of a service ticket correctly. However when I navigate to another screen, save a new ticket and back, the dates are not reflected. When I went in and debug the component, I noticed that the context is still tied to the previous ticket. I think the custom controller is not updated with the latest from the global custom controller.
My question is how do I get my custom controller updated with the latest.

You have to bind your custom controllers context node to the event NEW_FOCUS of the collection wrapper on the global custom controller.
Best place to do this might be the CONNECT_NODES of the context of your custom controller.
Get the global CuCo with GET_CUSTOM_CONTROLLER() and then the appropriate context node. Now:
SET HANDLER yourMethod for lr_global_cuco->typed_context->thecontextnode->collection_wrapper activation iv_activate.
Of course you have to implement a method similar to ON_NEW_FOCUS as it is on many other nodes.

How to install Windows Updates on a 2012 Domain Controller w/Group Policy Settings

Hello All,
I'm having an issue installing Windows Updates on my Windows Server 2012 Standard with AD DS role, acting as a backup DC.
I have Group Policies setup for the Domain Controllers to download updates from my WSUS server but not to install them. When I go to my Windows Server 2003 R2 Domain Controller, I can install updates via the "Install Updates and Shutdown". That
option doesn't show up on the 2012 server. I can see from my WSUS server and the event viewer that the updates are being downloaded to the 2012 server........just no option for me to install the updates.
Am I just missing something or will I need to change the way my Group Policy is setup to allow installs and/or downloads? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

So I've totally removed the GPO settings for configuring updates on the Default Domain Controllers OU and I can get the Windows Server 2003 Server to get updates from Windows Updates, but the 2012 Server still won't show me how to download or install any
updates. It just states on the log-in screen that there are "Windows Updates Sign in and install important updates".
Well guess what Microsoft! I've signed in and still don't see where I can install updates!!!
I guess because you've set AU=3.
There doesn't seem to be much documented in depth about AU/WUAgent (not in the history of forever), but Lawrence and others in the WSUS forum do cover a lot of related question about the agent and also GP settings.
Lawrence has blogged a lot of detail about the registry settings which are available for AU/WU, and how some of those settings are not practically of any use since WinXP.
So, even though your question isn't about WSUS, the WSUS forum is a great place to visit for help for WUAgent etc.

Update methode in model-view-controller-pattern doesn't work!

I'm writing a program in Java which contains several classes. It must be possible to produce an array random which contains Human-objects and the Humans all have a date. In the program it must be possible to set the length of the array (the number of humans to be produced) and the age of the humans. In Dutch you can see this where is written: Aantal mensen (amount of humans) and 'Maximum leeftijd' (Maximum age). The problem I get is that use the model-view-controller-pattern. So I have a model which contains several methodes and this is written in a class which inherits form Observable. One methode is observed and this method is called 'produceerRandomArray()' (This means: produce random array). This method contains the following code:

Notice the methods setChanged() and notifyObservers. In the MVC-patterns, these methods are used because they keep an eye on what's happening in this class. If this method is called, the Observers will notice it.
So I have a button with the text 'Genereer' as you can see on the image. If you click on the button it should generate at random an array. I wrote a controller with the following code:

StraighSelectionModel is of course my model class. Nevermind the methods setAantalMensen and setOuderdom. They are used to set the length of the array of human-objects and their age.
Okay. If I click the button my observers will notice it because of the setChanged and notifyObservers-methods. An update-methode in a class which implements Observer.
This method contains the follow code:

This method should get the method out of the model-class, because the produceerRandomArray()-methode which has been called by clicking on the button will save the produce array in the model-class. The method getMensArray will put it back here in the object named temp which is an array of Mens-objects (Human-objects). Then aftwards the array should be put in the textarea of the unsorted list as you could see left on the screen on the image.
Notice that in the beginning of this method there is a System.out.println-command to print to the screen as a test that the update-method has been called.
The problem is that this update method won't work. My Observable class should notice that something happened with the setChanged() and notifyObservers()-methods, and after this the update class in the classes which implement Observer should me executed. But nothing happenens. My controllers works, the method in the model (produceerRandomArray() -- produce random array) has been executed, but my update-method won't work.
Does anyone has an explanation for this? I have to get this done for my exam an the 5th of january, so everything that could help me would be nice.

This was driving me nuts, I put in a larger SSD today going from a 120GB to a 240GB and blew away my Windows Partition to make the process easier to expand OS X, etc. After installing windows again the only thing in device manager that wouldn't load was the Bluetooh USB Host Controller. Tried every package in Bootcamp for version 4.0.4033 and 5.0.5033 and no luck.
Finally came across this site:

1) Basically Right click the Device in Device manager, Go to Properties, Select Details tab, Choose Hardware ids from Property Drop down.   Copy the shortest Value, his was USB\VID_05AC&PID_8218
2) Find your bootcamp drivers and under bootcamp/drivers/apple/x64 copy AppleBluetoothInstaller64 to a folder on your desktop and unzip it. I use winrar to Extract to the same folder.
3) Find the files that got extracted/unzipped and open the file with notepad called AppleBT64.inf
4) Look for the following lines:
; for Windows 7 only
[Apple.NTamd64.6.1]
; No action
; OS will load in-box driver.
Get rid of the last two lines the following:
; No action
; OS will load in-box driver.
And add this line, paste your numbers in you got earlier for USB\VID_05ac&PID_8218:
Apple Built-in Bluetooth=AppleBt, USB\VID_05ac&PID_8218
So in the end it should look like the following:
; for Windows 7 only
[Apple.NTamd64.6.1]
Apple Built-in Bluetooth=AppleBt, USB\VID_05ac&PID_8218
5) Save the changes
6) Select Update the driver for the Bluetooth device in device manager and point it to the folder with the extracted/unzipped files and it should install the Bluetooth drivers then.

KT4 Ultra (6590) need update of the Promise SATA RAID Controller PDC20376

The last Bios update AMI 1.4 for the KT4 Ultra (6590) have built in the bios version 1.00.0.18 for the PDC20376 (Promise 376).
I can configure 2 maxtor (6E040T0) sata1 in a raid0 array and it works under WinXP SP3,
but the 2 drives are working in UDMA5 according to the FastBuild Utility when the motherboard specifications talks about 150Mb (SATA1).
It's not an OS problem because the FastBuild Utility at Bios startup show the UDMA5 mode for HDD.
It's not a Maxtor 6E040T0 (SATA1) problem because have no jumper to set.
The Promise support center don't provide support for built in raid controller but the responce was that it's related to a known bios issue of the controller, so i have to update.
For the last Bios version for the S150 TX4 controller look at:

It's impossible to update the bios with the promise tool because the controller is integrated in the motherboard.
I read for example than on the motherboard K7N2 Delta-ILSR the bios version of the Promise 376 controller is 1.00.0.21:

I think the only solution is a modding bios, where i have to replace only the Promise controller bios but:
1) The tool amibcp.exe can't open the A6590VMS.140 AMI bios (renamed .rom), i don't know why!!!
2) What promise controller bios rom file is good?

This is my results compared to my other UDMA6 HDD on IDE1, HDTach long bench stop with "Read Error" and only quick bench works.
The version of the Controller driver under WinXP-SP3 is 1.0.1.29 and I configured the driver in the PAM Utility with:
"Driver Write Cache" enabled and "Write Back" as cache settings (The 2 Maxtor SATA1 in RAID have 2MB of cache, but i don't know How many cache have the controller!!).
The Burst Speed is too strange!!! quick bench error?

I assume you use a wrong graphic driver or a wrong graphic card driver update procedure.
Toshiba recommend to use the own graphic drivers. The all drivers for European Toshiba notebooks you will find on this website:

After successfully downloading please unpack the driver. There you should find a setup.exe. Please install it.
Well, if this procedure doesnt work so please go to device manager and select the graphic card and right click. Then you can select the option update driver. The driver source is the driver download place.

10.5.5 update and on board SATA

Does anybody know whether the 10.5.5 Leoopard update has addressed the issue of the on board SATA headers not working under Bootcamp. I have checked through the update specifications but cant find anything relating to either Bootcamp or SATA suport.

Addonics SATA Controller / KP Update

A while back I posted regarding the Addonics ADSA3GPX1-2EM SATA controller card causing an immediate KP whenever I powered on the attached "SataVault" 2 drive enclosure. I also have an EP2 card from Sonnet that I was going to try. However while reading the documentation, I noticed the statement that the card needed to be in a "1 lane" PCI slot. Checking using the Expansion Slot Utility revealed that the ADSA3GPX1-2EM was installed in an "8 lane" slot. So, before changing the card, I checked out the online documentation for the ADSA3GPX1-2EM and found that it too is a "single lane" card. I don't remember seeing anything about this in the installation instructions and it is pretty deeply burried in the documentation. At any rate, I moved the card to a slot indicated as being a "1 lane" slot and rebooted the computer. So far I have been able to power on the drive enclousure without getting a KP. I have done so several times now just to be sure and all seems good. I thought this might be a useful "heads up" for others with similar problems with PCI SATA controllers. I really don't completely understand this "lane" thing so if anyone wanted to shed some light.....

PS Do I remember reading somewhere that drives connected to a Sonnet E2P controller are not bootable?
That is correct. The Sonnet and the Addonics cards do NOT provide boot capability on the Mac Pro. The FirmTek 2-port SeriTek/2SE2-E SATA PCIe host adapter provides boot capability with the PCIe PowerMac G5 but not the Mac Pro.
The ONLY Mac Pro PCIe controllers that I have tested that provide boot capability are made by Areca. The ARC-1221x eight channel host adapter can boot the Mac Pro with RAID 0, 1, 3, 5, 6, 10 or JBOD configurations.
AMUG installed the new Areca firmware that supports EFI booting and started up a RAID 6 eight drive boot drive on the Mac Pro. Xbench disk scores went through the roof
