HTC 8x win 8.1 update fails

I have tried twice to update my HTC 8x to windows 8.1.  On both occassions the download was successful and the phone went through one restart, then the graphic of the two gears ran for a couple of minutes, then a message was displayed saying that the update was unsuccessful try again later. My current versions are:OS version: 8.0.10532.166Firmware revision number: 3030.0.41601.841Hardware revision number: 0002 Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Hey, even I am experiencing a similar difficulty. My phone is locked to Telstra carrier and has the firmware version accordingly. I receive an update available notification but it is for a HTC update over Developer's Preview (& not  a windows phone update).
I guess it is for the next firmware version but the problem occuring is the same. Download completes and prepares for installation succesfully but it completes abruptly and resets mid way during installation cog screen, displaying an error (0x8007000d) which I think is related to firmware/hardware of the phone and not the update (according to Microsoft Support service person)
I had a talk with microsoft support regarding the same and they suggested using the 'Windows Phone Recovery Tool'When I did so, it detected my phone as C625b but it showed Firmware : Unknown, whereas my firmware version is clearly displayed in the About section under Settings.Firmware revision number: 3030.0.41601.841Hardware revision number: 0002This is the same as you guys, so I would suggest you to try the tool mentioned above, and check if you get the same results (that is firmware version unknown) so that we might get to know more about whether it's the problem with the firmware version or anything as such because of which the update is not successfully installed. Because, quite a bunch of HTC 8Xs in other countries and over other carriers have this new firmware update where the HTC Hub also works properly (It had issues with the clock updating etc.) along with windows phone 8.1 update.

  • MS homeserver 2011 connector error in Win 8.1 Update 1

Had dificulty in installing win 8.1 Update 1, which required the OS rebuild.  The Win Homerserver 2011 connect program fails to install.  Error message includes “…either another software installation is in progress, or, the computer has a restart pending.”  I have been checking all possible Microsoft solutions without finding any that worked.
I have just searched the registry for RebootRequired and found the following location: \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Lenovo\Lenovo Settings Installer Manager, which has a RebootRequired listed.  The system has been rebooted a large number of times.
    RebootRequired        REG_DWORD        0x00000000 (0)
There is a sub-key \Common that has the following

This T440s is the only Lenovo system (out of 4) that has these keys.  Is this the source of my problem and can I safely remove them from the registry?  Thanks

  • Photoshop cs4 11.0.2 update fails windows 7 64 bit

    Hello..
I finally got upgraded to windows 7 64 bit and and installed the cs4 download I got awhile back and it installed cs4 11.0 no problems. I got every update to install but the 11.0.2 update fails and I get this message
    "Adobe Setup has stopped working"
I have tried every thing I read, run as admin, move stuff out of appdat folder, reinstall.... reboot 39 times , I have no windowd defender or AV running at all everything I can find on here does not work and I get this error..... I read everyone gets this error except a darn few lucky souls..... so I tried compatibilty modes, it does the same error from win 98 all the way to win 7, xp same error vista same error it don't matter what version of windows this update seems to just stop working, so I did a troubleshooter on it and it determined that this program is incompatible with windows... I tried downloading it from Adobe and tried that... same error everytime.... don't matter if its through adobe updater or direct download this update fails and I decided to try 11.0.1 and it does the same so I guess PS CS4 11.0 is really not updatable to 11.0.2. and adobe suggests you to go cs5 to solve this problem. Except their updates fail to it looks like on this forum....
This is the problem details I get if it helps, because it does not leave a log for some reason.
    Problem signature:
    Problem Event Name:     APPCRASH
    Application Name:     Setup.exe_Adobe Update Installer

I have tried run as admin, same error pops up, I tried giving myself ownership and special permissions and everything to the PS folder since the exe is read only thinking thats why it wont update... I ran the clean script and reinstalled and tried every trick known to man ( well this forum and several others found on google) and nothing seems to work, the 11.0.2 update itself crashes, so I am just going to assume its windows fault because it does seem to work for other people....but it does seem to crash on mac I have read too... I have UAC disabled and no AV installed trying this so I installed my trend micro AV and checked and the puter is virus free so am not sure why I can not use the update but here is the screen shots I get....
I run setup.exe as admin I get this
then when I click on next, with 2 seconds I get this popping up, count 1,2 bam their it is..
so no matter what I do I get this error on 11.0.1 or 11.0.2 updates in every mode or permissions you can give...

  • Pixel Bender Update fails

The Adobe Application Manager ran about a week ago and updated my CS5 Master Ed to 12.0.3 however Pixel Bender Toolkit 2.5 update failed to install in AE and Fl Pro. Every time the manager runs with an update it won't install PB 2.5. I have turned of my AV and tried, no luck. If I go into AE, PB works no problem. It just won't take the update. I have PB in my Adobe collection but it's version 2.1. Any ideas what the problem might be? Will I have to do a complete reinstall? That is a last option if possible. I have tried to download PB 2.5 from the PB site but it won't install either. Here is the error:

  • Enter Machine Password DNS Update Failed on Mac Pro 10.6.6

Windows 2008 R2 Active Directory with several PCs and 3 MACs, all three at 10.6.6.
Only one, the Mac Pro, is slow to access network resources, gets Enter Machine Password: DNS Update Failed on Console, and is much slower to open webpages than the other 2 MACs; they work fine. I know that AD is configured right since I have no network errors on them.
Can bind and unbind as expected, can access Mac from AD Server as well as other PC/Macs, so this issue is not like most all other posts in that everything works except slow network (opening a network share gets the spinning wait cursor).
    Any Ideas?
    TIA

On the offending Mac open System Preferences->Network pane and highlight the port that you are connecting to the domain. Then in the right side of the pane click on the word "Advanced". In that drop-down select the DNS tab and make sure it has the same DNS that the domain uses. You can use thew + button to add the correct DNS servers. Also while in the Network pane, Advanced, select the WINS tab and fill it the appropriate settings for the Windows Domain.
Also on the offending Mac open System Preferences->Date & Time and make sure the Map Location is correct and also you are using the same Time server that the Domain uses (you can type in the Time Server address in the Time Server field.
Lastly are you using DHCP or Static in your Domain?

Itunes update failed to install and now Itunes  won't run

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features(Later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
See also HT1925: Removing and Reinstalling iTunes for Windows XP or HT1923: Removing and reinstalling iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
Should you get the error iTunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found after the above reinstall then copy QTMovieWin.dll from:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
    and paste into:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
The above paths would be for a 64-bit machine. Hopefully the same fix with the " (x86)" omitted would work on 32-bit systems with the same error.
