HTC eris issues

Just wanted to know if anyone else is having issues with the eris..... Mine all of the sudden stopped vibrating when I get text messages, I have checked all the settings and everything is checked. Also, every since my phone did a system upgrade in may, I can not get back the clock that was on the phone when I got it. Its the clock that's in all the pictures.. If anyone can help, let me know. It would be greatly appreciated.

I had the same issue. And i can bet that when he pushes the + and then HTC widgets, there is not a listing for "Clocks." I had to go to the Market to purchase mine for 1.99. I was a little upset. I also lost my favorite contacts that is factory on the home screen to the right. I had a bad update in May. My husbands was fine and mine stunk! Go figure! anyway, i am happy with the clock that i purchased. it looks almost exactly the same as the the factory flip clock. Good luck!

Transfer Footprints from HTC Eris to HTC Incredible 2

I switched from HTC Eris to HTC Incredible 2. I want to transfer my Footprints thumbnails and data to HTC Incredible 2. On the HTC Eris there is a folder on the SD card called .footprint that contains the footnotes.db file and folders for thumbnails and voices. The thumbnails for the footprints I have created are in the proper folder.
On the HTC Incredible 2, the footprints folder is on the SDcard as a subfolder of the .data folder. That folder has a footprints.db file and footprints.db-shm and a footprints.db-shm files in it. It also has "thumbnails" and "voices" folderswhere the pictures and dictated audio that are created with the app reside.
I have copied the HTC Eris .footnote folder over to the HTC Incredible 2 SDcard. The footprints application has a menu item to import pictures and data. The pictures have to be imported individually. While the pictures import and retain the address and GPS information, they display the current date and time, not the date and time when the footprint was orginally created. When you try to import a database, it says no database found.
I tried copying all of the Eris thumbnails into the Incredible 2's thumbnails folder and replacing the footprints.db on the Incredible 2 with the one from the Eris but the app would not display the existing footprint pictures and the app would no longer save and display footprints created even though the pictures taken were in the correct folder. I restored the Incredible 2's footprints.db and solved that problem.
If anyone has ideas, I would be interested to know. My guess is the Footnotes app on the Eris is a different version so the data is not transferable.

If I had to guess I would say that the issue is because of the different versions of Sense, I have noticed that some of the old files stored from a HTC Sense application doesnt always work on the updated version..

HTC ERIS randomly Drops data connectivity after 2.1 OTA

I am about to receive my 3rd HTC Eris under warrany that I am told will help my problem, before the 2.1 upgrade I no problems with data connectivity dropping. My 1st phone randomly displayed message saying "The MObile network setting needs to be turned on. The 2nd replacement phone does the same thing at random all over Phoenix.
Verizon said they have never heard of this problem and there have been no issues with the 2.1 upgrade..so far that is the story from 2 reps. My 3rd replacement phone is on its way...will it fix my problem?? Tried to get them to replace the phone with a nother model but they would only do it at full retail price....wow I use this for business and it is costing me money......If this doesn't fix it I guess I'll keep asking for replacement phones till it finally works properly again......

Hi. I am sorry you are having issues with your HTC Eris and I will be happy to look into this for you. When did you get the 2.1 update? Try to dial *228 option 2 to update your roaming to see if that helps. If it does not, we may need to reset your entire device to see if that works.

Dropped LD Calls on HTC Eris

I had a Samsung a couple of years ago. Every time I'd call my family in Illinois (from Texas), I'd get my calls dropped after 3-5 minutes. Verizon technicians said it was with the landline carrier in Illinois. They said it was with Verizon.
I switched to a Blackberry 8330. Never a problem.
Now I got an HTC Eris. Out of three conversations, I've had to re-dial seven times. I was only on the calls for a maximum of 15-min.
Anyone have any thoughts, or suggestions?

I have had the blackberry 8530 well two of those. DROPPED CALLS Then I switched to the droid eris to no avail. DROPPED CALLS I have had service with Verizon since March 5 and regardless of the phone, dropped calls are a fact of life for me I hit ### which is what customer service told me to do. I changed my phone number because customer service told me that because I ported my number something just wasn't right. I have a minimum of 5 dropped calls a day. (on a good day) Verizon has told me that I can discontinue my service twice. I am currently looking for another cell phone company that I can actually make a phone call on. The last conversation the rep told me that my area had bad service I should switch to a non pda then the call dropped. Not that the service would be any better.
LOL I have had service tickets "RESOLVED" but not for me still have the same issues that I have had since day 1 DROPPED CALLS.
SO again I am trying to decide where I am going too before they decide that I have to stay with a phone company where the phones are not reliable to make a phone call. I tried talking tonight and it called someone else..Oh yeah I had to input all of my numbers again because it was suppose to fix the stranger call issue. SMH

HTC Eris Bootup Freeze

Hi so recently my HTC Eris has been freezing on bootup. Lastnight it ran out of battery so i plugged it into the charger and left it, I comeback and as soon as remove it from the charger the phone shut off. I figure its just a little buggy so i turn it back on and it doesnt go past the little android guys on the skateboards. I waited about 10 minutes and it still didnt boot up. So I did a data reset with vol down send and end buttons and nothing. I tried a recovery boot with send and end buttons and nothing. There is no water damage to the phone. The indicators have a little water showing but its very apparent that its just a very tiny drop of water (only the corner of the indicator is pink/red) and the battery has no water damage indication either.
So what should i do next to fix my phone. Or if necesary who should i send my phone back to and will it be covered by HTC warranty (if one exists?)

I guess I never noticed it before.
As for doing a hardboot or working through the recovery menu, I am not familiar with the steps. If you haven't looked yet you can search the forums at www.androidcentral.com or xda developers. They should have more detailed steps of what to do next.

HTC Eris--Camera & Picture Issues?

I'll preface this by saying that I'm expecting my second replacement Eris on Monday because of all the issues since the update. I'm not confident that the next one will be any better. Since the update, I noticed that my camera delays when I take a picture...I take a picture, it appears but then it's like it takes another picture which 9 times out of 10 doesn't turn out. This did not happen before the update. I haven't seen this particular issue on the forums and am wondering if anyone else is having that problem. Also, I have recently noticed that when I go to share a picture via Messages, it pops up as a slide show rather than just a picture where you can easily type in the name/number of the recipient. Now there are added steps to get it to send. I think they're going through but it seems cumbersome. Anyone else?

I'm reporting the same problem with the newest update, and what a hassle it's been trying to get support! It's more than cumbersome--now every picture message I receive comes in as a sldieshow with a 5 second duration, instead of as a regular .jpg with no duration, and the same with sending picture messages. It's a major nuisance, and additionally, one of my friends has a phone that can't receive slideshows, so I can no longer send him pictures.
HTC support has been saying that the phone has always done this, that it's intentional, that it's perfectly normal. Even though that's obviously false--I took a picture of my phone showing a picture message coming in as a .jpg from before the update, and a new one as a slideshow after; didn't matter, they kept insisting this was the way it's always been.
I went to two local Verizon stores, and their tech reps told me that if HTC says it's normal, there's nothing they can do--they also wouldn't exchange the phone for another because they're all preloaded with the new update causing this problem.
Sigh. I am very unsatisfied.

HTC Rezound issues

I got an HTC rezound replacement after having to replace BOTH the old phone and the battery.
Now the new one, can not get a charge, or come back on. The phone's screen was already bad when I got it, I know it's not a battery issue, but I am getting a little frustrated that this new one will keep a 7hour battery life, but then shut off randomly and not come on at all, even when I try the take out everything including the SIM card and just plugging in the phone itself method. I can't seem to get it to factory reset, I've tried. I've switched the network, turned off fast boot and sleep mode.
The thing is--it will turn on four hours after I've toyed with it and even then turn on with less that 30% battery. I do not know if to call Verizon technical support and just get them to send me another replacement for this one that I haven't even had for two full weeks.

I have been having a similar problem with my Rezound where it will not turn on after a random shut down. Received some advice from a family member working for a company that does some kind of testing for Google Inc.
She explained to me if the phone is still stock "NOT ROOTED" more than likely one of the user apps from the Google Play Market that was released from a private developer/themer may have a issue with it. If it remains running in the background after closing the app, it could be accessing certain device functions such as internal/external sdcard and or one or more of the system partitions on the phone. She told me to unplug the phone from the A/C charger, pull battery external sdcard and sim card. Then use your computer or laptop to check the external sdcard from phone, for errors, then do a Disk Defrag if not for anything to clean up the card by straitening out all the data, "You know what I mean".... After that, re-insert the sdcard, sim card and battery "but DO NOT plug in the charger" Let phone sit for a few seconds then push the power button. She told me not to hold the power button down till phone boots, but to just press it and let go. Phone should boot up in a a few seconds. When the lock screen appears let the phone settle for a minute or two before heading to your home screen. Then atempt to do a Factory Data Reset. Once phone re-boots back up, again let it settle first. Start from scratch downloading your apps from the market "NOT BACKED UP APPS" and only trusted apps you know are safe and bug free. If you use a app backup program ie: Titanium Backup or one of the non rooted apps, re do the backup app process again to. Some people say they still get some lag of performance and experience random shut downs if they don't wait first at the lock screen for a minute or two allowing startup apps to finish loading and settle. My self, that was only true if my phone was rooted and flashing a new rom and/or kernel.

A few Eris issues

On my second Eris. Love the droid format, usability but as I said I'm on my second. Previous one couldn't hold a call in my home - 38 day owned so I got the "like new replacement". Replacement seems faster, but dropped a few calls again. I'm trying to find all the clitches prior to the 30 day return of this baby before I get stuck again. Along with the phone call issues the last one kept forgetting the defaut home, kept asking me what I wanted to do when I pushed the home key (so annoying), kept dropping "favoirite" people and lost pictures. This one seems to delay calling people.... I push, I wait, sometimes connects, sometimes doesn't and I hold the phone up to my ear and then wonder why it's not going through then realize I didn't feel the vibrate. And here's another odd thing - went to download FB for android and it says FB for nexus one? Is this one bad too or are there just things on the Eris that need to be lived with?
I went with Verizon because we do live in an area that reception has always been a bit of an issue. None of the phone we currently own, except my Eris, has an trouble now. I previously had an LG Dare that worked like a charm, but thought I needed to upgrade. Would the LG Ally get better service? Was going BlackBerry, but was talked into the droid format ("much better 3G experience"). They made offer at Verizon that if I was still having problems to swap me out to a different device. I like the Verizon network - won't leave, but also don't want to be stuck with a phone that can't be used as a phone.
Any suggestions?

"Much better 3G experience" sounds like a salesman trying to make a sale. I had one salesman in a store tell me that a certain Verizon phone didn't have 3G but this other (more expensive) one would.... Verizon customer support on the phone was very upset about that. The Android Ally is comparable to the IPhone and is generally a good phone, but it has some bugs to work out.
You won't know what your experience is until you try it and then make a decision within the return policy about whether it works or not. I'm having trouble with dropped calls, there is a trouble ticket out to see if there is a specific reason for it. My personal preference is Blackberry all the way, but I don't like the new Blackberry models on the Verizon market - particularly the Bold. For one reason, I have difficulty seeing the red numbers and my husband is color blind and cannot see the numbers at all.
I'm on my second new phone too (previous Bold) so I have to decide this week if I am going to stick with it or not.

HTC Eris - Bluetooth in my Car paired to my Eris

Before the upgrade to Android 2 happened, I was able to play music from my phone to the car's music system. After the upgrade, it seems like the songs tend to play faster (I am not sure if i have used the correct word here). When I connect to the Aux device using a cable without blue tooth seems to play fine.
The calls coming through are normal. No issues there.
Any idea what could be going wrong here?

It seems like this is just a software issue. I would perform a hard reset then try to reconnect your device to your car. Here are the steps for performing the hard reset:
Resetting the phone deletes all data, including downloaded
applications, and resets the phone back to its initial state—the state
before you turned on the phone for the first time.
Important Make sure to back up important data you have on the phone
before you reset your phone.
To reset the phone
1. Press HOME > MENU, then tap Settings > Security > Factory data
reset.
2. On the Factory data reset screen, tap Reset phone and then tap
Erase everything.
To reset the phone using phone buttons
1. With the phone turned off, press and hold the VOLUME DOWN
and SEND buttons
2. Press the END/POWER button. You will see a screen with 3
Android images at the bottom of the screen.
3. Follow the instructions onscreen to reset your phone.
Tip If your phone hangs or freezes, remove the battery then wait for a few seconds, and then re-install it. After re-installing the battery, turn on the phone.

Eris Issues!

I've had it with this phone! Ever since the 2.1 update, my phone has gone down hill. My battery life is terrible, I'm having trouble hearing people on the other line, vice versa, I'm not recieving texts, my phone rings for 2 seconds, then says I have a missed call, my camera hardley ever opens, I've had audio problems, and this is new: when I select "New Message" when I want to text, it doesn't pull up any names or anything and I have to physically go find the number and type it in! Also, I'm just now getting the "Full Memory" messages, even though I've deleted almost every app and now I can't recieve texts until its clear apparently!! One more thing, when I try to delete a thread in texts, it pops back up like I never deleted it, or it just doesn't delete at all!
I'm just wondering what I exactly should do about this... Any suggestions? Thanks.

I have those particular problems, too--the listing of an unread e-mail after I've read it is annoying. The only way I've found to get rid of it is to remove the icon from my home screen, then put it back there again. It's really annoying!
I've also noticed the same thing with the screen not activating itself--I hate the proximity sensor! The screen will randomly decided it doesn't want to come on, so I hit the end button to activate it...and...oops! Call canceled.
Lately, I'm more annoyed by the fact that the MR4 update broke picture messaging in the stock app. And no, neither Verizon nor HTC is listening--I've been trying to get picture messages fixed and HTC is stonewalling me with lies and excuses, and Verizon is taking the stance that, "if HTC says there's nothing to fix, then there's nothing for us to fix, either."
Yeah. Amazing customer service. I'm not surprised HTC has a BBB rating of D-. I hope my complaint will finally get me the tech support I've been trying to get since July 23rd.

DROID DNA By HTC "Messaging issue" How do I turn off "reply all"

I just bought a DROID DNA By HTC & can't seem to find where to turn off "reply all" when a friend messages me & I replay to him all the other people HE sent the same message to get MY reply also.

Hey, go to your <Messages>, then hit on <Menu> at tight top corner, then go to <Settings>, then go to <Multimedia messages (MMS)> then un-check where it says <Group Conversations>

HTC DNA issues since the update

I am still having issues with my DNA since the update. It takes a few seconds to show that a text has actually been sent and the mail server for Yahoo through the phone and not a Yahoo app now is a joke. Mail now is not pushed even though it is selected to push. I can update the mail several times and nothing will show up even though I know that I have mail. It will show up (maybe) a few minutes later. However, if I don't update the mail manually, it will never notify me of new mail. Useless.
Yes, I had to do a hard reset after the update because of text/sms issues. These should have been taken care of then.
Please advise.

Thanks for posting. If the issue is resolved by moving the cable around it might point to the problem being with the cable socket on the TV. Have you checked that? What were you syncing your Droid with?
Usually it's Outlook on a PC or Address Book on a Mac, so you just sync your contacts from either of those to the iPhone using iTunes.

HTC Eris suddenly started to download updates for HUGE number of apps

This started this week. the phone is 2 yrs old.
Currently, Ongoing says "Skype, Skype, and 56 more ..."
I have gone to Adao file manager ->Applications and I don't see Skype.
I uninstalled it from the phone yesterday in response to a notification similar to the
one quoted above.
My phone is constantly trying to download lots of apps every time I turn on WiFi.
What can I do to kill the sorceror's apprentice?

Problem was solved with help from Verizon customer support. Powered down, removed battery, restarted and the symptom is no longer present.

Transferring HTC Eris google contacts to my soon to be iphone 4s ?

My contacts have been saved to my google account and not my phone. Will that be a problem wihen I transfer my contacts to the new iphone. Is there something special I need to do like download the contacts from my google account to my phone in anticipationg to transfer over to the iphone ??
