HTC Incredible: Hearing two tones when placing or answering every call.

I have an HTC Incredible running Android 2.3.4, Build 4.08.  Recently, I started getting two loud tones everytime I answer or make a call.  When answering, the tones occur as soon as I click Answer and before I say hello.  When placing a call, the tones occur right after I click Call and before the phone starts ringing on the other end.  What can these tones signify, why would they have started out of the blue?  I haven't changed any Settings and I do not receive updates directly from HTC.  Frankly, given how prominent they are and they way they just started occurring for no apparent reason, these tones are suspicious to me.  Sure would appreciate hearing from someone else who has heard them and might know what's going on.

Thanks for looking into that for us mg4499! I would like to have you try a master reset of your device http://vz.to/19WXLUi. Since Safe Mode did not resolve the trouble, it may be a setting within your phone that has been altered in some way. Performing a master reset will move all settings in your device back to how they were when you first pulled the phone out of the box.
Please let us know how your experience is after performing the master reset!

Yeah, I know I can restore it, but I might as well go ahead and try. I just finished a backup for icloud and itunes to make sure, I'll go ahead and restore it and set it up as new and see how that works. Seems like I have no other options at this point, I'd still like to know what they did with the Download tab in itunes store, if they removed it or if I'm just overlooking it.

  • My 'slide to unlock' sometimes will not unlock when trying to answer a call. How do I stop that happening?

My 'slide to unlock' sometimes will not unlock when trying to answer a call. How do I stop that happening?

Do a reset (Hold Sleep/Wake and Home buttons about 10 secs or more till Apple logo appears, ignore the Slide to Power Off that appears)
Note: You will not lose any data.

  • Cannot hear when placing or receiving a call.

When I place or receive a call I do not hear anything. When I put it on Speaker mode it works fine. Can anyone help me figure out what is wrong please?

Try resetting your iphone by pressing and holding both your home and power button for about 10 to 15 secs till the apple logo appears :)

  • Prefer Bluetooth when paired and answering a call?

I have a Plantronics Voyager 510 Bluetooth headset (http://www.plantronics.com/northamerica/enUS/products/cat1150057/cat5420035/prod5360004). When the phone rings with the headset already paired, sliding to answer the phone picks up using the built-in earpiece/microphone instead of the headset. Every time I have to go to audio sources and toggle the headset instead, meaning there's always a few seconds of silence in the call in the beginning as I switch sources.
Is it possible to have a Bluetooth headset set as the default source whenever one is paired?

    Hey filburt1,
Have you tried answering the call by pressing the answer button on the bluetooth headset, like you would for the Apple headset?

  • My i phone 5 keeps freezing when i dont answer a call

sometimes when i miss a call a pop-up ( giving me choices of call later, cancel, etc) appears and the phone freezes and i have to shut it down and restart. once it took several minutes  to shut down i run on IOS 7.1.2 please tell me what to do.

Assuming this phone was never jailbroken, try these steps as needed:
    1. Reset the phone (no data loss):  press both the home and lock buttons, releasing when the Apple logo appears.
    2. Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
    3. Back up phone, then restore with iTunes, also restoring the backup
    4. Restore as new, without restoring a backup
Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings

  • Solution for slider sticking when trying to answer a call

I found that when I'm in any program, email, safari etc. and then lock the phone, when I get a call the slider sticks. I'd have to keep pushing the buttons to unlock it.
Then I discovered that if I leave whatever app I was using and go back to the main page (with all the icons) the slider works every single time.
I hope this helps some of you and I'm also interested to see if this works for other people.
    Please post your results.

If you have to keep resetting iphone, and it is not working, you might have to restore the iphone.
Here is an article from the Apple support site that might help.

  • N97 - restarts when trying to answer a call

I have a problem since last update of software. My new N97 automatically restarts every second time I try to answer a incoming phonecall. What to do?

Is it the latest software? Have you tried reinstalling it? It may have been a faulty installation.

  • I don't get tones when a message arrives

For some reason I no longer hear a tone when a message arrives on my iPhone 5.  Occasionally I do get a tone, but usually not - any suggestions?

Check to make sure you do not have the 'Do Not Disturb' feature turned on.  Swipe up from the bottom of the screen and make sure the crescent-shaped moon icon is not highlighted.  If so, turn it off.  Make sure you do not have your phone set to vibrate and that your volume is loud enough to hear the tone alert.

  • HTC Incredible and future 4G network

Does any one know if the HTC Incredible will be compatible when Verizon's network upgrades to 4G?
Verizon has been installing fiber optic equipment in their cell sites, I think 4G is coming soon.

4G won't be for use on phones for 2 more years at the earliest and it won't be practically viable for 3.  It doesn't look like Verizon is going to worry about any intermediary systems like Wimax as Sprint did or HSPA+ like TMobile did (I think AT&T is still considering an HSPA+ system but as far as I know isn't committed to it yet). We would be on a Wimax system if we did go to an intermediary because it is a sort of expanded CDMA.  I imagine that Verizon being fairly comfortable right now on top and not likely to fall too far in the next 2-3 years is pretty comfortable with having a good stable fast 3G network that covers more area than any one else and is going to spend most of their system upgrade money on pushing LTE out here as quickly as possible while everyone else wastes money on intermediary technologies that so far are proving somewhat lackluster.
All that being said no the Incredible will not be able to take advantage of LTE or even Wimax should they for some reason decide to go that route.  3G will be supported probably for atleast another 5 to 10 years after that as probably will 2G.  Considering LTE is a considerably different technology I would wager probably more like 5 than 10 but it will depend on how long it will take for people to get rid of their older tech for newer.  I know people with borderline antique cell phones still operating.  One girl I know has a phone that can't send or recieve texts.  I barely remember the last phone I had that couldn't do that or even when that was last an option.  I felt like asking if she realized how often free phones were available.
So they will keep the system up for a while for late adopters but in all reality by the time you are replacing your incredible you probably still won't have an LTE option.  According to the current official timeline LTE will be available for smartphones first around the end of 2012 and only in major cities.  Late 2013 - Early 2014 for full blanketing.  Expect slightly longer time than that because of equipment shortages, and unexpected pitfalls.  We will all probably have at least one more phone on our new every 2 before whether or not it supports LTE is even a concern.
OK I take it back your next phone will probably be LTE.  By the end of this year they expect to have LTE rolled out to major cities.  The plan is by the end of this year to have modems running LTE on the network.  By early 2012 they plan to have doubled their coverage and start rolling phones out and they will effectively blanket the country by 2013.  So yeah hopefully your next smartphone will be LTE and we will be living it up.  Probably by then X86 chips will be the norm maybe even AMD will get in on the game and we will have 2Ghz phones or so, possibly even multicore.

  • Caller sounds like they are in a tunnel when receiving or making a call.  When using earphones I can hear great.

When placing or receiving a call with new iphone 5 using the earpiece on the phone, the person on the other end sounds very low, like in a tunnel.  Volume is as high as it will go.  Earbuds work great but I can't always use them, I need to be able to do a NORMAL call without earbuds.

Update - made an appointment at Genius bar today (chadstone, Victoria, Australia).
Genius examined phone, replicated the issue and identified a malfunctioning main microphone. He noted that the reason I could still talk to the other party when I activated the 'speakerphone' function is that the speakerphone has a (second) noise cancelling microphone/speaker at the top of the handset. He replaced the phone under warranty, and offered to help me to set up the new phone. In and out in less than 15 minutes, with new phone operational.
Very knowledgable, very polite and just great service.. Thank you Apple team at Chadstone.

  • CAD Application gets Hanged for UCCE 7.5.1 when agent answered the call for particular location

    Hi All,
We have a CAD server installed on ICM PG box.
Two agent location namely X and Y
    Datacenter resided in location X
Users in location X were not facing any issue
Users from location Y facing diificulties and they were using CAD ver 7.5.1.
Randomly for all the users in location Y were reporting CAD application gets Hanged immediately when the agent answer the call.
Location Y is connected via WAN.
Both the location we are using same CAD version, but still issue persist in location Y.
Kindly let me know how to address this issue
If this was a BUG why it was not impacting other location

    Hi,
I found the problem in CAD Troubleshooting guide.
Problem: Agents can’t log into Agent Desktop.
Solution: During Unified ICM installation, an “Agent Login Required for Client Events” check box is displayed. By default this check box is unchecked. It must remain unchecked for agents to be able to log in. If the check box was checked during Unified ICM installation, you must reinstall Unified ICM and make sure the check box remains unchecked.
I reinstalled CTI Server without that checkbox and now the agent is able to login.
    Thanks all for your help.
    Cristian
