HTC ONE M7 Random Headphone Controls

Developed an issue recently when having headphones connected to it with controls that it would randomly end calls, bring up search, pause videos etc. This is the same occurence with three DIFFERENT headphones. What could be the issue?
These occurrences are random and do not happen at any specific moment or action. If my screen is off an I do not touch it while I am on a call everything is fine. As soon as I start multi-tasking while on a  phone call the phone would end the call as if I long pressed the end call button on my headphones.

I'm having the same problem, I can see that the problem is the size of the EQ, whatever that is. Today I had another one and strangely enough it recovered it's self with the message
[mi] Increasing EQ size to 1024 to prevent dopped events.
[mi] EQ processing has resumed after 17 dropped events
[mi] This may be caused by a misbehaving driver monopolizing the server's resources
I don't know if this helps but I've been "hunting" the reason for the freezes and so far it seems to happen not only in ATI graphics cards, but in Nvidia, VESA and Intel too. The common I found was most of the posts I found on the internet say they were using eather Firefox or watching flash videos or both. So far I desided to test that theory and used Chromium for a few minutes to get the next "freeze" and found that this particular freeze presented the messages mentioned above. So I can figure it may have to do with eather firefox or a plugin, I use a few of them but I think some may cause missbehaviour on firefox and trigger something worst. To complete the test I'm going to use chromium for a while to see if this can be a step in the right direction. The next step will be firefox with clean configs and no addons. If I find out something I'll post it here.

Is the external drive formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled)? Formats such as FAT32 and NTFS will not work properly (if at all) with iMovie. Also, external FireWire drives generally work more efficiently than USB drives when editing in iMovie.
If the drive is not formatted correctly, you will have to backup the files elsewhere, then reformat using Disk Utility.
To check the format, in Finder right-click (or control-click) on the name of the drive (left hand column) and select Get Info. In the panel that opens you will see the format.
Of course, formatting may not be the problem, given that you can at least see the video in the Event, plus get sound and video in the Project (which may be on your internal drive). But worth checking!

  • The HTC One M8 is a lemon and Verizon refuses to work with us.

We are now awaiting shipment of a FOURTH HTC One M8. First purchased on release day and returned within a week per store suggestion due to roaming bug (fixed with software update later). Second phone randomly turns off, restarts, freezes and doesn't respond. Verizon made us warranty replace this one as it was just past the 14 day mark of the initial purchase (we weren't thrilled). Now the third phone exhibits same behavior as second. Was supposed to get call from Verizon support manager yesterday following up on their insisting that an app was causing it, but she never called like she assured she would. We had removed ALL downloaded apps and still had phone turn off randomly. Verizon now refuses to do anything but send us a reconditioned phone as another replacement. This is the first and last HTC device we will ever try and most likely will begin looking for another carrier as Verizon clearly doesn't care about solving it's customers problems. If they expect me to pay full price for a reconditioned phone they're a joke. I'm awaiting a phone call from someone in management within 24-48 hours to discuss this all further.
Do yourself a favor and avoid this garbage phone!

"You have a warranty which states replaced with certified like new and not brand new."
This would be understandable and acceptable if it was for the fact that since day 1 we've been given broken phones.I refuse to pay full price for something that has been broken since the start.
I've spoken with HTC and received the "this issue hasn't been reported" statement and it pretty much went nowhere. One option was to send the device to HTC and wait for them to figure it out and send it back, but with no backup phone (turned in for credits) to use and my wife using this for work that's not a viable option.

  • 2nd defective HTC one. Have to get a refurbished one now. Really?

So, I experience the faint ringing with the first htc one...it also had terrible network connection problems. It had worse reception than my 3 year old Droid X. I took it in, they told me to do a factory reset and bring it back within 30 days if it happened again...it did. I got a replacement and this one has terrible built quality. The white middle section is slightly off making it higher than the metal section on the top. This also makes it so the button is flush with the top, making it difficult to push. The metal hangs over the white section on the bottom making a sharp edge. The glass also sits higher than the metal making both the top and the bottom edges sharp. The sound that comes from the headphone jack is also quite different from the first. It's extremely bass heavy and muddy even with "beats" turned off. Turning "Beats Audio" on makes it completely unacceptable.
I've had the replacement for 2 days (it's day 30 since the original). They are now saying I'll have to use insurance for a refurbished replacement. So, I paid full price, have had two defective units and now my only choice is to get a used one. What kind of garbage system is this.

Why did you even except the second phone with all the imperfections you listed.  From what it sounds like a used one would probably be in better shape than the two you got,  Anything returned after the free return period is replaced with a used phone, which so states in the contract you signed.

  • HTC One M8 software

Why does the manual state the phone has a FM radio feature, yet I cannot locate one on the phone itself?

I think the factory .APK can be downloaded from here:
    Dropbox - FM_Radio.apk
And here are instructions on it's use (you must use a set of headphones, which act as an antenna).

  • Do the Apple Earpods work with the HTC One?

    Hi,
I am just about to upgrade my phone to a HTC One and I just wanted to know if my Apple Earpods will work with that phone.
I think that the actual earpods themselves will work but I just want to know if the inline mic and controls will work with it or they will not function, while letting the earpods still output sound.
    Any response is appreciated,
    Thanks,

there is no std for how to handle mic and buttons on headsets so each make it their own way
if they work nobody will know without trying

  • IPod headphones controls busted?

Hey, I own an iPod Shuffle 3rd generation. It's the one that needs the Apple headphones with the controls. My headphones controls are busted. I can still hear the music smoothly, but without the controls, I can't change the volume or the songs. I'm stuck with it playing song after song with no control over the volume and the song. I hear that the Apple headphones with controls are quite expensive so I'm not so keen to buy a new one just yet. Is there any way to fix the controls? I mean, it's perfectly okay if you just want a pair of headphones, but you know the 3rd generation Shuffle. It needs the ones with controls. If it's any help, the iPod Shuffle itself does a weird thing when I turn it on. The indicator light goes green for about three seconds before blinking orange three times and goes black. That's never happened before when the headphones were still functioning. They always go green for about a second before going black. Please help me.

the problem is that Apple will not send me the replacement earbuds to my address. I live on base in Japan and I have an APO address. Apple doesn't ship to APO addresses so I can't get a replacement.
on a side note. I tried tying a knot into the wire near the earbud, at the connection, and in the middle in a few places and the static is still there. I tried the earbuds in my laptop and they are still staticy. I tried a different set of headphones that work on my laptop and they work fine on the iPod.

  • Need to upgrade my HTC Thunderbolt. Sony Xperia Z3v or HTC One (M8)??

I used to be a photographer since the film days but now that everyone in the world thinks they are "photographer," I gave up. But photos as a hobby is still important to me. I love photo options and high pixels. Sony was nice for that but HTC for affects/ options. Verizon reps knew either nothing or what I already knew. I feel I am teaching them about the Turbo and Xperia Z3. So I need help. I've researched and played with these phones (hated Moto camera interface, LG, Samsung, always hated iPhone): HTC One M8 and Sony Xperia Z3v. Not sure if Sony uploads to my Mac easily from phone either. I would like the best quality in camera, sound, text/calling experience. Who has the best voice recording? Ease of using personal dictionary, select all/copy/paste? Thanks.

I had an m8. The 4mp camera is good, but, when you zoom while recording or with a picture after its taking I noticed extremely soft edges and slight chop in the pixels, the 3d effects are nice although you can only view those from the phone. The sound was amazing and the system ran smooth most of the time. However,  I upgraded to the z3v; I am not disappointed the multiple options inside the camera app are insane and it does take some of the best videos and pics I've ever seen in a phone. But,  it's just that,  a phone,  so the audio isn't great and some other things not worth mentioning. The xperia has 3gb ram which provides a noticeable boost in performance, where the m8 would lag here and there. My last gripe with the xperia is that because of its slight "step-chill" hybrid z2-z3 deal they didn't work out keeping data connection while in a voice call,  not a huge deal for me,  but,  there are those occasions when I'm in a call and need to check to see if an email sent or long into a server for work and I have to call whomever back because I can't do both.
I get almost two days out of a full charge on this (1day with a lot of usage), longer if you enable one of the stamina modes; opposed to the m8 I only got a day or a tad longer(less than a day with a lot of usage), but,  usually both streaming Pandora for a couple hours with screen off,  the usual amount of texts and emails and maybe 45 min of Web browsing with a few 20-35 min phone calls.
Waterproof is my big thing,  the xperia is waterproof to a point,  make sure flaps are closed and I bought some silicone headphone jack port plugs and put a little silicone sealer (let it dry) on them to keep the water from entering the headphone port, salt water would wreak havoc in there; I rinse the whole phone with fresh (bottled) water after. No problems.

  • TS1363 My HTC One no longer connects to Itunes whereas it did previously - any suggestions?

I have previously been able to sync HTC One with iTunes, but it now doesn't appear in the devices list.  Any ideas why this is so?

iTunes only syncs with iOS devices.
There is no support for syncing to any Android device.

  • Help needed with HTC One regarding mic problem with noise cancellation

I picked up an HTC One last week, and so far I am loving the phone.  Great build quality, screen, sound - all as advertised.
However, there is one very annoying problem I am having.  When I am talking to someone, I can gear them great, but they keep telling me I sound muffled or robotic.  I performed some tests, and the problem appears to be something with the dual microphones and the HTC One's noise cancellation features.
Here are the tests I ran:
Typical phone call, with holding the phone as I normally do on the sides and to my ear.  Call result, pretty muffled voice.  I'd give the call quality a 5/10.
Help the phone as I typically do, but covered the mic hole on the back of the phone.  This definatelyimproved call quality.  Was louder and clearer, but not perfect.  I'd rate it at 8/10.
Help the phone towards the bottom, using my hand to kind of cup the bottom directing the sound to the bottom mic.  This was a further improvement in sound quality.  Rating would be 9/10.
Help phone as normal, but covered the bottom mic hole.  Very low volume and muffled sound.  Rating a 4/10.
Talked directly into the bottom of the phone into the bottom mic.  This gave perfect call quality and volume.  Rating a 10/10!
Talked directly into the mic on the back of the phone. Horrible quality, couldn't hear hardly anything. Rating 0/10.
Speaker phone on, held the phone up and moved it around as I would normally use a speaker phone.  Call quality was really nice.  Id give it 9/10.
Speaker phone on, covered back mic hole and used speaker phone as in #7.  Very bad quality, rating 1/10 for call quality.
Speaker phone on, covered bottom mic and help speaker phone in hand.  Really good quality, even an improvement over test #7.  Would give the call quality a 9.5/10.
Speaker phone on, placed face down on table.  Volume a bit low, a little muffled.  Call quality 6/10.
Speaker phone on, place face up on table.  A bit worse than test #10, low volume and a bit muffled.  Call quality is 5/10.
Based on these tests, I know this problem has nothing to do with the network CDMA connection.  It is obvious that the noise cancellation features are a bit too aggressive, or I have some hardware problem with one or both mics.
I question wether its really a hardware mic problem, because on non-speaker phone calls, talking directly into the bottom mic gives great quality.  And on Speaker phone, covering the bottom mic makes the speaker phone sound really good.  That's why I think there's something going on with the "Sense Sound" noise cancellation.
Is anyone else seeing the same issues?  I want to be able to hold the phone normal on a non speaker phone call and get good quality.
Looking for any tips and advice anyone can give.  Is it worth exchanging for a new one, as I am still in my 14 day window.
Thanks in advance for the help!

  • How can I change the default video conversion applied when I copy an AVI file from my PC to my Android HTC One M8 phone?

    Here's the situation...
I have an Android HTC One M8 phone which I connect via USB cable to my PC, then I use Windows Explorer to drag and drop an AVI file from my PC onto a target folder on the phone. When I would do this after I had first purchased my phone a message box
would come up with the heading "Convert and Copy" and ask me  "Do you want to convert <filename> before it's copied to your device?" and give me the options "Yes, convert and copy (recommended)" or "No, just
copy Your file will be copied, but might not play on your device."
If I chose to convert it converted the file to MP4. No problem, that's what I wanted.
The problem I now have is that after doing some work with other video applications a while ago where I was outputting WMV files I now find that the default conversion for the above described copy from PC to Android phone now converts files to WMV.
I simply want it to go back to converting video files copied to my phone as MP4, but I can't seem to find where I can set this!
It appears that the copy/conversion process in Explorer is being handled in the "Portable Devices Shell Extension" dll - WPDSHEXT.DLL
Can anyone tell me what I need to do to set the default video conversion back to MP4 ???
    Thanks

    Thanks Rob.
I actually had no clue what the core problem was caused by. So it's Windows itself...that helps some.
I'll resubmit there. It might actually have saved time for it to simply have been moved to there instead of off-topic, though I suppose you have to follow protocol.

  • Use one fpga vi to control two targets

    Hi,
I have two fpga because I need more than 8 analogue output and analogue input.  I wonder if I can use one fpga vi to control two targets (the two FPGA boards I use are PCI-7833R) so that the outputs can be synchronized.  I think if it's possible it'll be easier to implement the synchronization between while loops, etc.  If it's not possible, how can I interface between between fpga.vi and make the synchronization possible and make two vi's talk to each other?  Thank you very much for your help!
    Thanks,
    Charles

I have successfully ran the same code on two (2) different FPGA boards. The difference being that the host will use different Aliases to control the FPGA boards,
Both FPGA Boards MUST be the same type ( I used PXI-7811s).
My program consisted of 6 individual communication portals and there was NO synchronization between boards

  • TS1389 Hi, I am Natalie Prince and I opened my Itunes account in 2006 when I got my Ipod.  I purchased lots of music.  Over the years I haved changed computers and phones.  I now have an HTC One and I want all the songs from my old account on it.

I think I had an old itunes id.  When I go to Itunes on my program list all of my music comes up, there are probably a hundred or two songs.  But it never let me burn them to anything other than my Ipod.  I changed my password so now when I pull up my account there is no music.  Can anyone tell me how to find my old account and then copy that music to my HTC One.?

    elkelawdog wrote:

Either you did or did not.  Do you not remember?
    elkelawdog wrote:

Media is not burned to iDevices.  Burning an iDevice would destroy it.
Why will iTunes not allow you to sync media to the iDevice?  What happens when trying to sync media to an iDevice?
    elkelawdog wrote:

    Changed password to what?
    Pull up what account?
What does this have to do with iTunes?
One does not pull up an account to access their media, they simply launch iTunes.
Changing a password has nothing to do with accessing the media on the computer when one launches iTunes.
What is the actual issue that is occurring?

iTunes has nothing to do with putting media on a non-Apple device.
