HTC One M8 Weekly Deal

Hey All, so I am interested in getting the HTC One M8 phone using AT&T next.  On the weekly deal ad I noticed that you can either get the phone for $49.99 with a two year deal or for $0 with a $150 gift card with AT&T Next.  When I add the phone to my cart and I am ready to check out there is no mention of the gift card.  Am I missing something or did I read the ad wrong?
Thanks,

Hi bdematteo,
Welcome to the Best Buy forum, and thank you for posting!
After doing a bit of research, I found out that the HTC One (M8) 4G LTE is currently on sale for $49.99 with a 2-year contract.  That is a savings of $150.  The $150 Best Buy gift card is only available in-store and only if you decide to utilize one of the mobile payment options, such as Verizon Edge or Spring Easy Pay.  If you are interested in the $150 Best Buy gift card, then I would encourage you to visit a Best Buy store and speak with one of the mobile associates.
Warmest Regards,

  • Help needed with HTC One regarding mic problem with noise cancellation

I picked up an HTC One last week, and so far I am loving the phone.  Great build quality, screen, sound - all as advertised.
However, there is one very annoying problem I am having.  When I am talking to someone, I can gear them great, but they keep telling me I sound muffled or robotic.  I performed some tests, and the problem appears to be something with the dual microphones and the HTC One's noise cancellation features.
Here are the tests I ran:
Typical phone call, with holding the phone as I normally do on the sides and to my ear.  Call result, pretty muffled voice.  I'd give the call quality a 5/10.
Help the phone as I typically do, but covered the mic hole on the back of the phone.  This definatelyimproved call quality.  Was louder and clearer, but not perfect.  I'd rate it at 8/10.
Help the phone towards the bottom, using my hand to kind of cup the bottom directing the sound to the bottom mic.  This was a further improvement in sound quality.  Rating would be 9/10.
Help phone as normal, but covered the bottom mic hole.  Very low volume and muffled sound.  Rating a 4/10.
Talked directly into the bottom of the phone into the bottom mic.  This gave perfect call quality and volume.  Rating a 10/10!
Talked directly into the mic on the back of the phone. Horrible quality, couldn't hear hardly anything. Rating 0/10.
Speaker phone on, held the phone up and moved it around as I would normally use a speaker phone.  Call quality was really nice.  Id give it 9/10.
Speaker phone on, covered back mic hole and used speaker phone as in #7.  Very bad quality, rating 1/10 for call quality.
Speaker phone on, covered bottom mic and help speaker phone in hand.  Really good quality, even an improvement over test #7.  Would give the call quality a 9.5/10.
Speaker phone on, placed face down on table.  Volume a bit low, a little muffled.  Call quality 6/10.
Speaker phone on, place face up on table.  A bit worse than test #10, low volume and a bit muffled.  Call quality is 5/10.
Based on these tests, I know this problem has nothing to do with the network CDMA connection.  It is obvious that the noise cancellation features are a bit too aggressive, or I have some hardware problem with one or both mics.
I question wether its really a hardware mic problem, because on non-speaker phone calls, talking directly into the bottom mic gives great quality.  And on Speaker phone, covering the bottom mic makes the speaker phone sound really good.  That's why I think there's something going on with the "Sense Sound" noise cancellation.
Is anyone else seeing the same issues?  I want to be able to hold the phone normal on a non speaker phone call and get good quality.
Looking for any tips and advice anyone can give.  Is it worth exchanging for a new one, as I am still in my 14 day window.
Thanks in advance for the help!

  • Why is it that the Verizon version of the new HTC One M8 has no battery saver extreme ? Its been on Sprint for over two weeks now !

The Battery Saver Extreme for the new HTC One Mi8 was announced by both Verizon and HTC, yet it is still not available on Verizon, has been on Sprint phones for over two weeks. According to HTC , Verizon has simply not released the necessary software update.
Not at all good public relations when many people bought this phone with this feature being one of main reasons for the purchase !

And a disabled download booster also. And the FM Radio is disabled. Just google for research.
T-Mobile has the options. from what I am reading.
    Good Luck

  • IPhone 5 preorder 2 colors HTC One 1 color weeks later

Verizon, it's not fair that you are offering the iPhone 5 in two colors (black or white) in pre-order.
Yet the HTC One that comes in (Silver, Black, Blue & Red) in only offered in one color, silver.
When will you offer more color options?

    Spiral wrote:
Sounds like a supplier issue to me.  HTC can't supply the units in multiple colors (poor planning on HTC's part) at launch whereas Apple can.
Bottom line, life is not fair.
I really don't think it's HTC lack of supplying colors to every carrier that's the cause of Verizon not carrying the full color line up.
I wrote to HTC and was answered within an hour (now that's awesome customer service since I wrote to them around midnight).

  • Why doesn't the Verizon Version of the HTC ONE (M9) have Wifi Calling?

I have been with sprint for 11 years and recently upgraded my HTC One (M7) to the HTC One (M9). went to jamaica and was able to keep in touch with everyone free of charge with wifi calling. Once i returned i decided to leave sprint and come to Verizon. I realized today they dont have wifi calling on this phone. Why is that. isn't it CDMA like sprint

They're planning on releasing it in mid-2015:
Verizon Wireless (NYSE: VZ) plans to introduce Wi-Fi calling in the middle of next year but does not see an urgent need for it, according to Verizon Communications CFO Fran Shammo.
Speaking at the Bank of America Merrill Lynch Media, Communications and Entertainment Conference, Shammo noted that Apple's (NASDAQ: AAPL) new iPhone 6 and 6 Plus support Wi-Fi calling. He said Verizon needs to do "some technological work in our network to make it available," and it should come around the middle of next year.
However, he said Wi-Fi calling was "never a top priority" for Verizon. "We built our voice platform so extensively [that] there was never a need for us to tell our customers, 'Oh, our network is not good enough so you need to go on Wi-Fi to complete your call.'"
He noted that when a call goes onto a Wi-Fi network, it's difficult for Verizon to guarantee the quality of service on that call, which is what Verizon has built its brand reputation on. That's a major reason Verizon waited so long to launch Voice over LTE service--it wanted to make sure it had adequate coverage that could replicate the voice experience of calls on its 3G CDMA network. Verizon has just started rolling out VoLTE service.
Other carriers are moving ahead with Wi-Fi calling plans. Ralph de la Vega, CEO of AT&T's Mobile & Business Solutions Group,  said last week that AT&T will launch Wi-Fi calling in 2015 but that the carrier will use it only as a complement to Voice over LTE or 3G-based calling. "We don't have this burning desire" to use it to enhance coverage, he said.
The comments were notable in light of T-Mobile US' (NYSE:TMUS) announcement this week that heavily emphasized Wi-Fi calling and using personal routers to create Wi-Fi coverage areas in subscribers' homes. T-Mobile is the first and only U.S. carrier to support Wi-Fi calling on the new iPhone. Sprint (NYSE: S) also launched a Wi-Fi calling service for its Android smartphones this past February.
In terms of other hot topics, Shammo said Verizon would not be leasing phones, as Sprint is doing with its "iPhone for life" offering with the new iPhones. Under that program, individual customers will pay $20 a month for a 16 GB iPhone 6, instead of $30 under normal financing. At the end of 24 months, they can trade in their iPhone for a new iPhone. The iPhone 6 Plus will cost $25 per month under this program instead of $35 under normal financing. If a customer wants an iPhone with more internal storage they will pay more per month. The leasing program applies to families as well.
Shammo said Verizon offers its Edge handset-financing and early-upgrade program but that the "majority" of Verizon customers are still choosing subsidized handsets paired with two-year contracts. In contrast, AT&T said sales through its similar Next program represented around 50 percent of all smartphone sales in the second quarter.
Shammo also touched on whether Verizon might sell its wireless-tower assets, saying the company remains open to it. In the past, doing a deal "always came down to price and terms and conditions," which he said have become more favorable. He said that Verizon's network is experiencing high demand and that the company would like to retain the flexibility to add towers or add network gear to existing towers. "It's an option for us," he said. "We continue to look at it, and we'll see what happens."
Last week at a separate investor conference, Verizon Communciations CEO Lowell McAdam also said the company would be open to selling some of its towers if the price was right. "Those deals are coming to us a little more now, and if an opportunity presented itself to increase shareholder value" Verizon would be interested in pursuing it, McAdam said, according to Reuters. McAdam said Verizon received interest in its towers two years ago, but the bids weren't high enough.

  • Recently started not receiving texts from one person - AT&T user, also HTC One

I recently started not receiving texts from one person. He also has an HTC One (older model) but has AT&T as his provider. We were texting back and forth last Friday morning (11/8) and then he called me and ever since then I have not received a single text he has sent. He is receiving all of mine and we can receive phone calls back and forth, but his text messages are not coming through. We have both tried restarting our phones and I have also tried deleting him as a contact and recreating it however nothing works. I checked to make sure he was not blocked (which I knew wasn't the case since I could receive phone calls from him as well), and even tried turning the "block contact" on and back off. Any solutions would be greatly appreciated. Right now we are using work arounds with google-talk and facebook messenger but it's very frustrated for me to not receive any of the texts that his phone is saying I am receiving.
It had started sporadically over the past few weeks where I would miss a text from him every once in awhile, but now I am receiving nothing. He is the only one that I am having this issue with as I have texted back and forth with multiple others the past few days with no issues.
Thanks in advance for the help!

Hi!  I'm also having the same problem.  I have an iphone 5 & one person (who also has an iphone 5 but has AT&T as a provider).  We had been able to send & receive phone calls & texts until mid-November.  Now, we can both give & receive phone calls from each other and she receives my texts, however, I DON"T receive hers. In fact, if I'm in a group text message with her,  I don't receive any of the texts  that include her, even though I can give/receive texts individually from the others in the group message. The other two in the group message CAN receive both her texts & mine. This is so strange - I was left out of a whole thread of text messages & none of us knew it.  They thought they were including me (nothing bounced back) & I didn't know I wasn't receiving them. Since her texting works with both of the others, I'm concluding the problem must be with my phone.  Do I have an incorrect setting?  I'm not sure what could have happened.  PLEASE help!

  • The HTC One M8 is a lemon and Verizon refuses to work with us.

We are now awaiting shipment of a FOURTH HTC One M8. First purchased on release day and returned within a week per store suggestion due to roaming bug (fixed with software update later). Second phone randomly turns off, restarts, freezes and doesn't respond. Verizon made us warranty replace this one as it was just past the 14 day mark of the initial purchase (we weren't thrilled). Now the third phone exhibits same behavior as second. Was supposed to get call from Verizon support manager yesterday following up on their insisting that an app was causing it, but she never called like she assured she would. We had removed ALL downloaded apps and still had phone turn off randomly. Verizon now refuses to do anything but send us a reconditioned phone as another replacement. This is the first and last HTC device we will ever try and most likely will begin looking for another carrier as Verizon clearly doesn't care about solving it's customers problems. If they expect me to pay full price for a reconditioned phone they're a joke. I'm awaiting a phone call from someone in management within 24-48 hours to discuss this all further.
Do yourself a favor and avoid this garbage phone!

"You have a warranty which states replaced with certified like new and not brand new."
This would be understandable and acceptable if it was for the fact that since day 1 we've been given broken phones.I refuse to pay full price for something that has been broken since the start.
I've spoken with HTC and received the "this issue hasn't been reported" statement and it pretty much went nowhere. One option was to send the device to HTC and wait for them to figure it out and send it back, but with no backup phone (turned in for credits) to use and my wife using this for work that's not a viable option.

  • HTC One M8 - screen won't turn on, still vibrates

I've had my HTC One M8 for less than two weeks now. The last action I performed on it was to take a picture and upload it to Facebook. Shortly after, I went to turn my phone on and nothing happened. No screen appeared. The green indicator light is still on, and when I touch the screen or adjust the volume or receive notifications, the phone vibrates. The screen, however, remains completely black.
It was not low on battery, though I've tried charging it to no avail.
Any suggestions for restoring my screen? Thank you!

Sometimes things can lockup the screen/phone to where it appears to be black , but is actually extremely dimmed. Try the following to reboot your phone:
Press and hold the POWER and VOLUME UP buttons for at least 10 seconds. The HTC One should then restart. Many people don't hold the power+volume up combination nearly long enough. Look at the seconds of a watch or similar time keeping piece while doing it - what feels like 30 seconds holding it down to you may only be 10 seconds.

  • HTC One M8 Lollipop Problems

Hello, I recently updated to Lollipop (so software is Android 5.0.2, HTC Sense 6.0) on my HTC One M8, and I've been having a number of problems with the messaging app. Basically, messaging has become a complete mess/hassle. It takes up to 5 or 6 seconds every time to bring up conversations, and when it does to, the app often crashes ("Unfortunately, Messages has stopped"). I think I've counted a total of 30 crashes or so in the past week were I to guess. Generally the crashing occurs when attempting to type a message (that is to say that it doesn't happen often with inactivity or just reading messages, though that has happened I think). Additionally, I've noticed significant lag when typing messages of almost any length (so not correlated to long or large messages or anything). Only recent change has been the upgrade to Lollipop and a theme change to Cascadia. Has anyone had any similar problems? Any known solutions or anything I can try? Thanks.

You need to do a factory reset on the phone.  You have an app that did not like the conversion to lollipop.  Back up all your data and factory reset the phone.   Then clear your cache. To wipe the cache partition, follow these steps: If the phone is not working correctly, you may need to master reset it and also clear the cache partition. These two resets clear different parts of the phone storage. Unlike a master reset, wiping the cache partition does not delete your personal data. To wipe the cache partition, follow these steps: Turn off the device.Press and hold the Volume Down key.Press and release the Power key to turn the phone on.Continue holding the Volume Down.Release the Volume Down key when the three Android images appear on the bottom of the screen.Press the Volume Down key once to move the cursor from FASTBOOT to RECOVERY.Press the Power key to begin the wipe. The device displays the bootup screen followed by a phone with a red triangle.
Press the Up Volume key and Power key at the same time.Press the Down Volume key three times to select Wipe cache partition.Press the Power key to initiate the wipe.Wait until the phone displays Cache wipe complete.Press the Power key to select Reboot system now.If this does not resolve your issue, the next step a master reset

So, how long will EE take to release this much needed software update? http://www.androidcentral.com/european-htc-one-m9-update-brings-camera-battery-and-charging-improvements

  • When will Kit Kat be available for my HTC One?

I still don't have Kit Kat available for download on my HTC One. Any idea when that will happen?  I was told by Verizon support a few weeks ago that March 7, 2014 was the release date for the "pull".
    Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the info Erik2013. Here are some steps to assist with making sure that update has fully been pushed to your device http://vz.to/1fYqhsJ If you are still having issues, you might need to master reset the phone to see if that can help push the update http://vz.to/OqXUHP Please keep us posted on the results. Before performing a hard reset, try to power the device off and pull the SIM card out for 5-10 minutes. Thanks again for your patience Erik2013.

  • Poor signal htc one m8

Very poor signal Htc one M8. started about 3 weeks ago. per customer service at Verizon a tree or bird is the cause of my issue. Not the only one with this issue in my area. Any thoughts or suggestions. Thinking of leaving Verizon wireless to another carrier.

I apologize for the issues, tecanic1. However, being in a pocket of an extended network can be why the data and service can fluctuate. Have you tried removing and reinserting the sim card to reset your connection? If not, just that a try and also confirm the exact zip could of where you're located besides the 01520.

His camera the coloring is off we have reset his phone as well and his does not work either. Does anyone else have this problem with their camera?

I'd be happy to look into this issue for you ailahamya! Are you and your husband using any sort of third party camera app? Does it happen every single time you post a picture? Please let us know, so we can help resolve this matter.

  • HTC One lens cover is thin, fragile glass

On the 15th day of ownership, I discovered that the HTC One build quality isn't all that great when I discovered that the camera lens cover is very thin, extremely fragile and cheap glass that cracks very, very easily.  Neither VZ or HTC will fix it without making you give up your phone for weeks on end and paying a huge fee (more than the cost of the phone). BEWARE.

No, not correct.  Not even close to being correct. Thinness doesn't necessarily mean better clarity.  HTC could have used thicker material that would have been much more durable without compromising clarity.  And, as I have discovered, it's not even glass.  It's plastic, which easily scratches and cracks.
Also, as I stated, it won't be easy to replace because the HTC One glass cover is not easy to find.  I'd have to resort to one that is the right diameter,  but thicker (the HTC One X), and would not sit flush with the phone case.
Ferraris and Lambos don't fall apart during the ordinary course of normal use.  This phone does, apparently, since it is in a case, I have never dropped it and I handle it with care (though not enough, apparently, since it's fragile like an eggshell) and it is still falling apart after less than 3 weeks.

  • When I open firefox android, my wifi and mobile data switch off on HTC one M7

I cannot surf the net with firefox on my HTC one M7 as of this week.
Every time I open the browser, it closes my wifi and mobile data, meaning I get the error 'server not found'
i tried removing it and all its add ons, then re-installing...
    Just the same.
    Anyone help please?

    Hi RichyRiches
    # I have an HTC One M7 running Firefox for Android 35 with Android 4.4.3. Is that what you are using?
    # "Every time I open the browser, it closes my wifi and mobile data, meaning I get the error 'server not found' " - Strange I have no such issue. Any websites in particular? Or is all of them? Do other web browers work?
    # I don't think this is a Firefox for Android problem. In the past problems like that have been because of WiFi issues caused by firewalls. Please check with your ISP and check your firewall.
    Cheers!
