HTC one max not charging.

The charging port is getting very hot and wont charge.  Seems to be an occuring problem.  Anyone else has this problem?  Asurion won't replace it because it's the 3rd phone.  @

loveleilani, I want to make sure you have a good working device. Is there any kind of physical/liquid damage to this device? Did you get this device from Asurion? Also, how long have you had this device? Please keep me posted.

  • HTC One - Camera Not Focusing

My camera is not focusing and when I push on the screen, it says "AUTO EXPOSURE/AUTO FOCUS LOCKED".  With that, the screen does not move around as you move the phone around and you can't see what your taking a picture of.  When I switch to video, it does move as you move the phone and is fine..but camera is not.  ANY IDEA WHAT IS GOING ON?

Let's make sure we get your camera focused, lala1229! How long has this been going on? Is your software up to date? Do you have any casing or protection that may be blocking your camera? Please share details.

  • Can i download iTunes to HTC One cell phone

I bought HTC ONE MAX, can I transfer itunes to this cell phone?

No.  iTunes runs on Windows XP SP3, Vista, 7 and 8, but not on Windows Phone or RT.  You can copy music from your iTunes library to a Windows phone, but will have to use other software to do so - iTunes only works with iPod and iOS devices.

  • What to Do When Your iPad is Not Charging?

When you first bought your iPad, did you plug it into your PC and become frustrated when you discovered that it wouldn’t take a charge? Were you disappointed to discover that the iPad doesn’t charge through PCs and you have to plug it into the wall to get it to work? Most newer Mac computers (2008 and later) will charge the iPad. However, those of us who have a Mac are not immune to the trials and tribulations of the “Not Charging” message that can appear without warning. For anyone who has experienced, or will experience the “Not Charging” message on their iPad, we have a couple of suggestions.
A couple of weeks ago, I got a “Not Charging” message on my iPad when I plugged it into the 10 watt USB 2.0 power adapter that was plugged into my wall. Surprised by this development, I assumed there was something wrong with my plug and took my third-generation iPad to my office, where I plugged it into my computer and got the same message. “Oh, no,” I thought. Something is wrong. If this has happened to you, don’t worry. Nine times out of 10, there is nothing wrong. You just need to do a little trouble-shooting.
First of all, only plug your iPad into a PC if it is absolutely necessary. It will take hours to fill the battery up and you have to leave it in sleep mode (the iPad, that is). You see, even though your iPad may have a “Not Charging” message, it is charging. It is just doing it very slowly. In a pinch, leave your iPad plugged in, even if you don’t think it is getting a charge. You’ll at least increase the percentage a little.
If you have plugged your iPad into something that has previously worked to charge it, there are a few things to check out before making your Genius Bar appointment. The first, and most obvious is to make sure the power adapter is a 10 watt charger. The iPad, especially the third-generation one, will not charge with anything less than 10 watts. Next, make sure the iPad is properly plugged in (I know it sounds patronizing, but you’d be surprised at how often the problem is just an unplugged power source). Check the connection from the wall to the plug and the plug to the iPad. If you are sure that everything is as it should be, try another socket, and then try another cord. Lastly, plug another Apple device into the same cord. If you’re iPhone charges, but your iPad doesn’t, there may be a problem.
Once you’ve determined that it is not your power adapter, try turning your iPad on and off again. To shut your iPad down, hold the “Home” button and “Sleep” button at the same time for a couple of seconds. When the slider bar appears, slide to shut down the iPad. Wait 30 seconds and turn it back on by holding the Home and Sleep buttons at the same time. When the iPad is back online, plug it in again to see if that fixed the problem.
If you have been able to charge your iPad from your Mac previously, but are suddenly faced with the “Not Charging” message, when you plug it into the computer, check your connection first. Then, make sure the USB cord that you are trying to charge your iPad with is plugged directly into the Mac. Don’t plug the cord into a multi-cord hub that is plugged into the computer or the USB port on the keyboard. The iPad needs a lot of juice. If it is plugged into some third-party source, it may not send the amount of juice needed to charge the device.
If your USB cord is plugged directly into the computer and you still see the message, try blowing air into the iPad’s dock connector. You could also use a folded piece of paper to loosen dust particles. You should also make sure that none of the docking pins are broken. Those tiny little pieces of metal can be snapped off very easily.
There have also been some known issues with external 30-pin devices being plugged into the iPad that cause it to malfunction for a short period of time. For example, if you have recently used the iPad camera adapter, it may cause the device to charge improperly. The best way to remedy that is turning your iPad on and off again. However, sometimes, you just have to wait for it to clear out.
Just to summarize, here are some of the things that may be causing your iPad to show a “Not Charging” message:
    Wall socket is bad
Not using a 10-watt power adapter
    10-watt power adapter is bad
    USB 2.0 cord is bad
Device is plugged into a PC
Device is plugged into a multi-port USB hub or instead of directly into the Mac
    Dock connector is dusty
    Docking pin is broken
Device was recently used in conjunction with camera adapter.

    Thanks for sharing it! great!

I have just installed a new Battery after the old one showed (Not Charging) and when you clicked on this icon the dropdown"condition replace now". Problem now is the computer still shows the same message in the top bar (Not Charging) and the dropdown also shows "condition relace now". the magsafe show the greem LED i.e not charging, but providing power. If you disconnect the magsafe the computer powers off instantly confirming we have power. I have carried out resetting the SMC controller and still no change. Tested the standby voltage on the magsafe pins etc, all in spec. What should I do now, as I don't want to keep spending more and more. Bellow is the info from the system profiler.

  • HTC One M8 call history timestamp issue

I have waited patiently for several months through a couple firmware updates, expecting to see this issue addressed. However, it seems to have received very little attention or recognition.
Using the stock phone app, any calls prior to the current day do not display the timestamp. Only calls made or received during the current day display the time of the call. Any calls received/made prior to the current day only display the date. Any calls placed yesterday only display simply "yesterday." Long-pressing any entries without a timestamp to select "view history" only displays the call "duration."
A few friends have the same phone on another carrier and their devices display the name, phone number, date and timestamp in the "Call History" and "Phone" logs, even without the need to long press and "View History." They are also using the same stock Phone application. It is quite frustrating to not see the timestamps of missed calls.
The few references online regarding this issue seem to have concluded this is a carrier programming issue, as those on Verizon have the same issue and those on another carrier do not.
Does anyone using a Verizon HTC One M8 not have this issue using the stock Phone app?
Does anyone know of a fix or workaround to address this without installing 3rd-party apps?
Is Verizon planning to address this issue? Have they already?
Whom shall I contact to raise this issue?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Pamela,
    Here's how things look.
I can't remember it being any other way on my handset.
Would appreciate anyone kindly confirming (or denying) this is how entries look on their Verizon HTC M8.

  • My brand new PB will not charge when in standby or when on

I played with a number of PB's so far and finally have my own but... My brand new PB will not charge when in standby or when on; as soon as I plug the charger into the USB port it detects it and brings the screen up (if in standby) showing the lighting bolt on the battery but it does not charge; the lighting bolt stays but the % charge does not change (or hopefully increase) at all; it will actually decrease (??); the only way I can charge it is when I attach the charger and the PB is powered off… the PB brings the red (or green can't remember) LED on and starts to flash it on off and charges; tried the hard reset with no change; I am running the latest OS release 1.0.8.6067. Has anyone seen this? Is it h/w or f/w? Any Fix?

Here's a final update on this... the units goes back to its maker or the store sometimes tomorrow... Why? First I tried to understand if this was s/w or h/w related or maybe both before calling support which in the end I did; so I did try a different charger, hard resetting the unit, discharging and recharging etc; nothing helped or fixed the charging in standby; the unit continued to charge only after being turned off and then plugged into the charger. Here's what I learned:
    1. Going through the initial setup and OS update it is quite possible for the unit to NOT load the OS image correctly i.e.  it appears that it loaded the OS and displays the OS version as if it loaded properly when in fact it did not and the image loaded is corrupt. I found this out during a live session with support when they were looking at my PC screen while the PB was connected to the PC only to point out that the Desktop Manager was showing a s/w update being available (1.0.8 bundle 6067) while the unit was reporting 1.0.0 bundle 0. Strange, I thought I already had 1.0.8.6067... after accepting the update, which takes a bit to load, I started more testing, charging, discharging, hard reset (i.e. Volume Up + Power) etc with no positive results to report. This also proved that the USB port is working, both data (PC to PB communication alright) and power (PB displays the plug over the battery bar when the power contact work)
    2. The charger I have works and it is the correct one: P/N PSM09A-050RIM; make sure it is not one of the incorrectly rated chargers some received.
    3. In order to reduce the amount of current the unit consumes when on, you have to run the Video Chat app at least once and acknowledge the (c) page; otherwise this remains as a background app that take more CPU cycles on the battery. After doing this I did notice a slight improvement in the sense that PB did charge some instead of discharging. The problem is that it only charged to about 60% and did not move higher no matter how long I waited (yes I did reset just to make sure it is not the s/w acting up and deciding to not update the power bar)
    4. The way the RIM RMA works is like this: they start the process for you to return the unit back for repair which I understand may take 10 days; you may get a unit to use for this time if so desired, it will be charged to your CC; your unit may get repaired if possible; if not possible to repair, your new unit will be replaced with a refurbished unit; once you get some unit back you need to send the “10 day replacement unit” to RIM to get your CC charge cleared. I find that this program is good for when you can not return the unit to the place you purchased it from. Otherwise it is not good as I do not like getting a refurb for something I consider brand new (not to mention that you may get a unit with a few bright or dark pixels)
    5. Throughout this process I looked at three (3) Playbooks: 2 had bright pixels and were returned immediately; this last one does not charge correctly. No win for me!
    6. The battery lasts approx 4 hours with the unit playing a video clip in a loop and WiFi on with a WEB pulled stop watch running as well (had to allow multi tasking in setup/general).
Finally, my theory about this problem is that it is h/w related and that it is caused by the noise the board or the display is making when the unit is either on or in standby; a component not soldered properly (cold joint) or out of spec may be the culprit; for example a resistor in resistor divider monitoring the battery voltage or a decoupling capacitor missing or not soldered...

  • T23 Battery not charging, strange battery/charger behavior

I have an old T23. Two months ago it suddenly stopped charging the battery. It seems as an IC problem. Therefore, I decided to buy an external battery charger (ThinkPad Multiple Battery Charger II, P/N: 22P9040), and a new battery, since the old one could drive the T23 for less than, say, 15 minutes.
After receiving the charger and a new battery (from two different suppliers in USA), I found a strange problem: the old battery is charging normally, but operates for 15 minutes, or less, and the new one is not charging - the orange light flashes permanently.
After that, I decided to buy another new battery, this time from Hong Kong, but the whole story repeated.
    Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

  • Why wont my htc one connect to my macbook pro

I have been trying to connect my HTC One to my macbook pro, when i plug in my phone it doesnt have anything pop-up. I have tried restarting both the laptop and the phone. I have used differert USB cords, different USB ports, nothing has worked. I tried using HTC Sync Manager so i could transfer my iTunes music to my phone like I did when I first got my phone. That ended up not working, and so I tried doubletwist and that didn't work. The next thing I thought of was using bluetooth to just share the music files. I paired my phone and my macbook, but when I go to share a file it says that the device (my HTC One) would not accept the file. When I go to the bluetooth settings on my laptop, it just says the Bluetooth PAN is not connected and it won't connect.
All I am trying to do is transfer some iTunes songs from my MacBook Pro to my HTC One phone, which I have done once before but I cannot rememeber how I did it the first time. I don't know what the problem is but if I took a guess I would say that for some reason my phone just isn't connecting to the MacBook Pro when I plug it in. Please help!

I, too, am having the same problem, although with different circumstances. I just recently switched over from PC to Mac, but after installing the HTC Sync Manager, it does not recognize my phone. I also just want to add music to my phone, so I'm eager to hear if anyone knows what the problem is...

  • Batteries are working fine, but powercord will not charge them!

Hi i have 2 powerbooks, and one is not charging the batteries. I know for a fact that both batteries are fine because 1 PB charges them successfully, anyone got any idea what i could do to fix this? thx in advance.

    Welcome to the Apple discussions.
There are 3 components to charging: Power adapter, battery, and logic board (and within that the dc-in card). If the adapters and batteries are good, then the dc-in card may have failed, which would be the next component in the chain. The dc-in card contains the jacks that the power adapter plugs into on the side of the Powerbook. You can see a picture of it at http://www.pbparts.com/shop//a15dlsdpsb.html
You can try the Apple hardware test, however, I don't recall it being particularly good at pointing out charging issues. It would be on the first OS X DVD that came with your system (should say 'AHT Vx.x' in small print on the DVD). Insert it, and reboot holding the option key down, follow directions and choose the extended test.

  • Presario 4000 hi cap battery not charging

I have a Presario V4000 about 4 yrs old - The original battery Code HSTNN-LB09 still works and charges but is on its way out after 4 years and I wanted more power so I have bought an aftermarket Hi Cap battery Code is PB995A (replacement for).
The first one would not charge - resolutely remains on 0% after three days. So I returned it as a dud and got a replacement.
The second one is exactly the same 0% charge and no lightning bolt on the led display.
Putting the old battery back in is fine - charges ok (subject to limited life).
I am on XP home sp3
Have reviewed web and there are suggestions that charging is to do with software, capacitors need discharging, Bios needs to be sorted somehow but sofar.
    1) I have removed battery and AC - pressed power button for 2 mins (discharge capacitor)
    2) booted into Bios to find battery management stuff (none)
    3) booted into safemode (no battery management available)
    4) switched batteries while on AC power. Old battery recognised OK and charges, new battery 0% no charge etc..
    5) Checked out Battery compatibility chart and it all looks jake.
I am not convinced that this second battery is a dud and as the charging works fine for the old battery I believe the charging hardware is Ok on the laptop.
Somehow the laptop needs to be presuaded to recognise and charge the Hi Cap battery.
Any ideas would be much appreciated --

  • New battery will not charge

Had Genius Bar install a new battery as the old one was not charging. New Apple installed battery will not charge either. Light on T-connector always shows green even after SMC reset and battery will not charge. Any ideas?

Bring it back to Apple, they may have not seated the cable/connector correctly, or the cableconnector has an issue, or there is a problem with the charging circuit. Bring in your power adaoter with you as well. Apple repairs come with 30 day warranty

  • Satellite A100- New or Old Battery is not charging

    Hi,
    I have a Satellite A100-543 (PSAARE).
The original battery was not charging so I purchased a new one. Now the new one is not charging either. I then ordered a new charger before coming to this forum so Ill test that when it arrives but I think the problem will not be solved.
With the new Battery the Icon says "10% Usable, connected, charging". The Icon, when the laptop is first switched on, shows the charge bar moving (charging) but after a few moments stops.
With the old Battery the Icon says " connected, charging". It shows empty.
In both cases the Battery Green LED is on.
If I pull out the charger from the laptop the computer stops immediately.
Trawling the forums I see one proposed solution is a BIOS upgrade. I have BIOS version 5.80
    See: http://www.laptoprepair101.com/laptop/2006/05/23/toshiba-satellite-a105-battery-charging-problem/comment-page-19/#comment-151154
However I cannot find my model (as above) on Toshiba's list! It was purchased in France and is out of warranty.
Again I am dubious than this will solve the problem.
Others point to the motherboard. How can I know this? If it is does anybody have an idea of cost?
I do hope that someone can help.
    Henry

I'm not going to immediately help but I think I have the same problem on my A200 Equium model 1V0, running Vista.
Existing battery has gone down to 5% power and of course I get warnings so I run on mains but I can run the laptop on the battery for a few minutes.
The charging light comes on for about 9 seconds and then goes out. The charging status changes from "on mains power, charging 5%" to "on mains power, not charging".
It's odd that I can flip the battery out while the mains is attached and when I re-insert it, there's a charging light and charging status is ok for 9 seconds. If I do this often enough I can boost the battery to 10% but then the charging light only flickers on for a moment and there's no further actual charging. I think the main board charging circuit can't handle any more than a small feedback charge.
I bought a new battery - the laptop won't run on this without mains power (in fact the charging light now only appears for a moment and no charging at all takes place).
I uninstalled and re-installed the power ACPI from device manager - no change.
I turned off laptop, removed battery and mains power and held down the power button for 15 seconds - no change.
I checked my mains adapter using a circuit tester - OK.
Oh, and I updated the BIOS to the latest version 2.5 - no change.
It looks like the main board charging circuit has a fault which is uneconomical to repair.
Unless someone out there knows differently??
