HTC one wifi issue!

Surprise,
once again, I updated my HTC one, this time to Kit Kat and lost any way of connecting to my home WIFI. I have had this issue before, however I am not remembering how to fix this.  I have done everything from rebooting my router, computer, and phone.  I even did a factory reset on my phone after the upgrade.  I have been working on this for HOURS, and am ready to launch my phone into the wall.  It recognizes my home wifi network and says secured with WPA/WPA2, it lets choose to connect, but it won't actually connect to everything.  It also does not let me "forget" my network... I have tried changing my wireless router to no passcode, and that has failed too. Someone please HELP!

Go into your router settings and make sure your router has the lastest drivers.  If it does then change the channel number and change the frequency, set them to some other number and dont use auto setting.  Save the changes, then reboot the modem, then reboot the router, then reboot the phone in that order.   Even though you have other devices that connect to your wifi, Kit Kat might not be compatable with your current router settings.

Android 4.4.2 - HTC Sense 6.0 (Stock ROM)
Carrier - EE, handset is locked to the network.
    Skype version 4.7.0.43514
I have found a number of issues when using Skype on the HTC One M8. If you are playing Music on the device and someone calls you, for about 2 seconds into the ring Skype will make the Music you are playing quiet whilst the Ring Tone takes the higher volume. After this 2 second period the Music will continue to play at the same volume as the Ring Tone is playing at until you either hang up or answer. If you hang up/don't answer the call and continue to play music, after around 2-5 minutes the top speaker on the HTC One will stop working. The only way to fix this is by signing out of Skype and closing the application, then signing back in. The top speaker will not work for ALL applications, so even if you stop playing Music from the applcation you were using and switch to another, the issue will still persist.
Another issue I am having, is trying to send files. Whenever I try to send a file from my device, when the reciptent accepts it my phone will still show "Waiting to accept", but it gets worse. I have only been able to send a file when clicking "Take Picture", otherwise if I try to select a local document or picture to send to a contact I get an error message saying "File must be saved on device" when it clearly is saved on the device, otherwise I would not be able to select it.
I have tried this on multiple HTC One M8 handsets, and have been able to reproduce on all.
Another minor issue, though I believe this to be releated to the background task killing in the M8 software, is that sometimes if I am logged into Skype on my phone (I have the notification enabled on constand) sometimes it will disconnect, and so all messages/calls will not be recieved until I manually open the application. Note that the status in the top left of my notification bar does not change, it shows me as logged in. But when I scroll the bar down and click on Skype to go to the application the application will flash and log me back in and then all my messages will come through at once.
I hope you are able to fix these issues ASAP.

My Skype acts very weird. When in use it would allow about 10 to 15 seconds working " normal " and then it restarts bidding anything that you've been doing until then, can't text, can't call. I've tried removing it, re installed it, rebooting, nothing works. I use my Skype for work, all my customers use Skype, HTC and Skype need to fix this

  • HTC Rhyme Wifi Issues

About a month or go I was having issues with my Rhyme connecting (or not connecting) to wifi.  Now it only works if its connected to wifi - otherwise it says no network or not connected.  Does anyone know how I can fix this?
    Thanks.

I appreciate you bringing this to the attention of the forum. Let's work towards a solution so that you are able to enjoy the freedom of mobile data network and Wi-FI connection.
Let's ensure that the data function is turned on with the device. The data function may be reached by heading into Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Network. Check box to turn on data.
We're happy to assist. Let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.

  • When I open firefox android, my wifi and mobile data switch off on HTC one M7

I cannot surf the net with firefox on my HTC one M7 as of this week.
Every time I open the browser, it closes my wifi and mobile data, meaning I get the error 'server not found'
i tried removing it and all its add ons, then re-installing...
    Just the same.
    Anyone help please?

    Hi RichyRiches
    # I have an HTC One M7 running Firefox for Android 35 with Android 4.4.3. Is that what you are using?
    # "Every time I open the browser, it closes my wifi and mobile data, meaning I get the error 'server not found' " - Strange I have no such issue. Any websites in particular? Or is all of them? Do other web browers work?
    # I don't think this is a Firefox for Android problem. In the past problems like that have been because of WiFi issues caused by firewalls. Please check with your ISP and check your firewall.
    Cheers!

The HTC hotspot works fine with everything else I connect to it.
Also - ipad will not connect to my HTC via bluetooth. Again, I can connect to everything else with my HTC other than my ipad.
I have to say this is my first venture into Apple products and I have always wanted to get away from my windows based laptop to get a MacBook, the problems I have had (flash player etc) & continue to have (as above) are putting me right off swapping over. I HATE technology that doesn't work and my ipad has been hard work!

I stated my ipad as being an ipad2, but I now think it is a 3??? It was new Jan this year and is the 64gb retina display version.
I really would like to get to the bottom on this problem wit mobile hotspots as it is sitting on my desk next to me now and I cannot get it to connect to my HTC mobile hotspot!!!! It might be taking a flying lesson soon at this rate!!! Grrrrrrr...........

  • HTC One M8 call history timestamp issue

I have waited patiently for several months through a couple firmware updates, expecting to see this issue addressed. However, it seems to have received very little attention or recognition.
Using the stock phone app, any calls prior to the current day do not display the timestamp. Only calls made or received during the current day display the time of the call. Any calls received/made prior to the current day only display the date. Any calls placed yesterday only display simply "yesterday." Long-pressing any entries without a timestamp to select "view history" only displays the call "duration."
A few friends have the same phone on another carrier and their devices display the name, phone number, date and timestamp in the "Call History" and "Phone" logs, even without the need to long press and "View History." They are also using the same stock Phone application. It is quite frustrating to not see the timestamps of missed calls.
The few references online regarding this issue seem to have concluded this is a carrier programming issue, as those on Verizon have the same issue and those on another carrier do not.
Does anyone using a Verizon HTC One M8 not have this issue using the stock Phone app?
Does anyone know of a fix or workaround to address this without installing 3rd-party apps?
Is Verizon planning to address this issue? Have they already?
Whom shall I contact to raise this issue?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Pamela,
    Here's how things look.
I can't remember it being any other way on my handset.
Would appreciate anyone kindly confirming (or denying) this is how entries look on their Verizon HTC M8.

On my iphone 5 , i m facing slow wifi issue. Ios 6.0.2 didnt resloved it.any one please told me ios 6.1 fixed this issue or not b/c i m right now not in a mood to install the ios 6 .

It seems that people experience slow wifi on iphone with IOS 6 under slightly different circumstances.
Some have slow/choppy video streaming, some have problems with large dropbox files, some with app store and some with podcasts.
    Which is your problem AdeelRasheed?
Me personally, I have download speed when on wifi.
    But only when downloading podcasts...
    Running 6.0.1 or 6.1 on iPhone 5, iPhone 4 and iPad 2.
On WIFI I can download a 45 mb app from the appstore in less than a minute. I can stream Youtube and Netflix with no problems. Internet browsing - no problems.
But downloading podcasts with Instacast 3, Downcast or the Apple Podcast app happens at a rate of 20-80 kb/s when on WIFI. As soon as I switch to 3g ( 4g/LTE is not yet available from my local provider) my download speed goes to between 300kb/s and 2 mb/s.
    Anyone else have this problem?

  • Why doesn't the Verizon Version of the HTC ONE (M9) have Wifi Calling?

I have been with sprint for 11 years and recently upgraded my HTC One (M7) to the HTC One (M9). went to jamaica and was able to keep in touch with everyone free of charge with wifi calling. Once i returned i decided to leave sprint and come to Verizon. I realized today they dont have wifi calling on this phone. Why is that. isn't it CDMA like sprint

They're planning on releasing it in mid-2015:
Verizon Wireless (NYSE: VZ) plans to introduce Wi-Fi calling in the middle of next year but does not see an urgent need for it, according to Verizon Communications CFO Fran Shammo.
Speaking at the Bank of America Merrill Lynch Media, Communications and Entertainment Conference, Shammo noted that Apple's (NASDAQ: AAPL) new iPhone 6 and 6 Plus support Wi-Fi calling. He said Verizon needs to do "some technological work in our network to make it available," and it should come around the middle of next year.
However, he said Wi-Fi calling was "never a top priority" for Verizon. "We built our voice platform so extensively [that] there was never a need for us to tell our customers, 'Oh, our network is not good enough so you need to go on Wi-Fi to complete your call.'"
He noted that when a call goes onto a Wi-Fi network, it's difficult for Verizon to guarantee the quality of service on that call, which is what Verizon has built its brand reputation on. That's a major reason Verizon waited so long to launch Voice over LTE service--it wanted to make sure it had adequate coverage that could replicate the voice experience of calls on its 3G CDMA network. Verizon has just started rolling out VoLTE service.
Other carriers are moving ahead with Wi-Fi calling plans. Ralph de la Vega, CEO of AT&T's Mobile & Business Solutions Group,  said last week that AT&T will launch Wi-Fi calling in 2015 but that the carrier will use it only as a complement to Voice over LTE or 3G-based calling. "We don't have this burning desire" to use it to enhance coverage, he said.
The comments were notable in light of T-Mobile US' (NYSE:TMUS) announcement this week that heavily emphasized Wi-Fi calling and using personal routers to create Wi-Fi coverage areas in subscribers' homes. T-Mobile is the first and only U.S. carrier to support Wi-Fi calling on the new iPhone. Sprint (NYSE: S) also launched a Wi-Fi calling service for its Android smartphones this past February.
In terms of other hot topics, Shammo said Verizon would not be leasing phones, as Sprint is doing with its "iPhone for life" offering with the new iPhones. Under that program, individual customers will pay $20 a month for a 16 GB iPhone 6, instead of $30 under normal financing. At the end of 24 months, they can trade in their iPhone for a new iPhone. The iPhone 6 Plus will cost $25 per month under this program instead of $35 under normal financing. If a customer wants an iPhone with more internal storage they will pay more per month. The leasing program applies to families as well.
Shammo said Verizon offers its Edge handset-financing and early-upgrade program but that the "majority" of Verizon customers are still choosing subsidized handsets paired with two-year contracts. In contrast, AT&T said sales through its similar Next program represented around 50 percent of all smartphone sales in the second quarter.
Shammo also touched on whether Verizon might sell its wireless-tower assets, saying the company remains open to it. In the past, doing a deal "always came down to price and terms and conditions," which he said have become more favorable. He said that Verizon's network is experiencing high demand and that the company would like to retain the flexibility to add towers or add network gear to existing towers. "It's an option for us," he said. "We continue to look at it, and we'll see what happens."
Last week at a separate investor conference, Verizon Communciations CEO Lowell McAdam also said the company would be open to selling some of its towers if the price was right. "Those deals are coming to us a little more now, and if an opportunity presented itself to increase shareholder value" Verizon would be interested in pursuing it, McAdam said, according to Reuters. McAdam said Verizon received interest in its towers two years ago, but the bids weren't high enough.

  • HTC One Stock Browser - address bar and Flash player issues

Couple of issues here -- please let me know if I'm missing something obvious.  First of all, since the HTC One only has the Home and Back buttons, I count on the application to know when to open a Settings screen or even an address bar.  Point that browser at YoutTube or Google+ and tell me how you get back to the address bar.  I've found that hitting Back may bring up the address bar, but you'd better be quick about it.
Second, the Flash player doesn't seem to work with some sites.  I can play a YouTube video with the stock browser, but it won't play an NPR sound clip.  Thoughts?  Ideas?  What obvious thing am I missing?

First, Flash Player isn't supported anymore. If you have it installed through sideloading, it isn't guaranteed to work all the time.
As for the stock browser, have you tried scrolling to the top of the website to get the address bar to show. I don't have any other ideas since I purposely disabled the stock browser and use Chrome instead. Perhaps you should consider the same.

I had the same problem.  Here is what worked for me.  Open the mail app and delete your exchange account (Settings > Delete Account).  Then re-add your Exchange account.  After this my Exchange contacts showed up again.

  • HTC One Wi-Fi Connection Issues - Please help!

    I need major help!
I am currently on my third HTC One, after two attempts at a solution, and I am still having the same problem. Here it is: I will connect to my Wi-Fi at home, successfully browse a few pages online, press the power button to put it to sleep, press the power button again to turn it back on, then see (in the status bar) the Wi-Fi disconnect then reconnect, try to browse more pages online with no luck because the connection does not work. The only way I can consistently get Wi-Fi to work on this phone is after waking up my phone from sleep I have to turn Wi-Fi off then back on to re-establish the connection.
I've check my settings extensively and changed a few defaults in an attempt to get this to work. Here are my settings currently: "Keep Wi-fi on during sleep" - Always; "Wi-fi Frequency band" - 5 Ghz only; "Wi-Fi optimization" is checked; "Best Wi-Fi perfomance" is checked. My Wi-Fi password was entered correctly and I am currently writing this on a laptop connected to the same home network.
I am at my wit's end. I just want this beautiful phone to work properly. Are there any suggestions as to what might be causing this and how to fix this situation? Or am I doomed to an endless cycle of HTC One exchanges until I find one that works? Please help! Thanks.

It seems that rebooting worked for you.  That's great!
    Here's what happened to me:
I purchased two HTC One phones, one for me, one for my wife.  Both could not connect to my 2.4GHz wifi router.  I did all the usual steps, reboot router, change password and reboot, switch from 128-bit encryption to 64-bit encryption and reboot, etc.  Nothing worked.
    The problem:  Android 4.2.2
The solution:  Upgrade to Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) via the [Settings] - [Software Update] - [Check New] menu
But how to upgrade when you cannot access WiFi?  Call Verizon.  They will either temporarily extend your data plan to allow you to download the massive 500MB installation package or work with you to put the update on a laptop where you can then transfer it to your SmartPhone via the memory card, or over USB.
This is not meant as a plug for Verizon, but I must say the technical folks are pleasant, patient, and very capable.  And now my HTC One, and my wife's, are happily communicating with many different WiFi routers both 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz.  (Notice picture of two smiling people riding horses into the sunset)
Hope this is helpful to the next HTC One customer.

  • HTC one (m8) sd card issue

i have a 64gb sc card that i got just for my htc one (m8). card worked great and now all the sudden after i took pictures of my daughter getting married it now says the card is unmounted and unreadable. the card never got took out of the phone. what can i do to get the pictures back? any ideas.

This is what I'd suggest as well if you have not Formatted the card pull the card install it in a Reader and pull your pictures off onto your computer then once that is completed reinstall your card into your phone Format it see if will then allow your to take pictures and store,  if it won't then the card has went bad..
Just for the asking what kind of Card is it.?  Sandisk, or Another..  The card should have Limited lifetime Warranty you might call the Manufacture see if they'll replace it for you..
    Hope that Helps b33

  • TS4268 Wife changed over to HTC one from IPhone but now she can't receive my messages.  I have already turned off her I message on her iPad

I have transferred my phone service to HTC one and now I cannot receive messages on my phone just on my iPad.

    1. Messages on the iPad can only be sent to other iDevices and Mac Computers running Mountain Lion.
    2. They must also be registered with iMessage
Note: The two above conditions must be met.

  • The HTC One M8 is a lemon and Verizon refuses to work with us.

We are now awaiting shipment of a FOURTH HTC One M8. First purchased on release day and returned within a week per store suggestion due to roaming bug (fixed with software update later). Second phone randomly turns off, restarts, freezes and doesn't respond. Verizon made us warranty replace this one as it was just past the 14 day mark of the initial purchase (we weren't thrilled). Now the third phone exhibits same behavior as second. Was supposed to get call from Verizon support manager yesterday following up on their insisting that an app was causing it, but she never called like she assured she would. We had removed ALL downloaded apps and still had phone turn off randomly. Verizon now refuses to do anything but send us a reconditioned phone as another replacement. This is the first and last HTC device we will ever try and most likely will begin looking for another carrier as Verizon clearly doesn't care about solving it's customers problems. If they expect me to pay full price for a reconditioned phone they're a joke. I'm awaiting a phone call from someone in management within 24-48 hours to discuss this all further.
Do yourself a favor and avoid this garbage phone!

"You have a warranty which states replaced with certified like new and not brand new."
This would be understandable and acceptable if it was for the fact that since day 1 we've been given broken phones.I refuse to pay full price for something that has been broken since the start.
I've spoken with HTC and received the "this issue hasn't been reported" statement and it pretty much went nowhere. One option was to send the device to HTC and wait for them to figure it out and send it back, but with no backup phone (turned in for credits) to use and my wife using this for work that's not a viable option.

  • Wifi issues after Android 4.4.2 update (specifically WEP issue with 2.4GHz router)

I have an old Westell 2.4Ghz Wifi router which is using 128-bit WEP security (13 character password).
When I bought my HTC One it came with Android 4.2.2 and could not connect to my home Wifi.  After rebooting, changing passwords, using 2.4GHz network freq on the phone, and trying the mystical power-down, volume-down, special-screen trick ... nothing worked. However, Verizon was kind enough to extend my data plan for free so I could download the massive 4.3 update over 4G network.  Android 4.3 fixed my WEP / Wifi issue.
Early this morning (Feb 18, 2014), Android 4.4.2 was downloaded and installed on my HTC One.  Guess what?  No wifi connection after restarting the phone, rebooting the wifi, etc.  Isn't that nice?
Android developers, I plead for your mercy.  Please stop making x.x.2 releases!
And also, please fix the WEP issue in 4.4.3.

    Upgrade == $$$
No thanks.  I'll spend my money on more important things, like little gifts for my wife.
I have several devices connected to my home WiFi that work just fine (printer, laptops, flat-screen tv, etc).  It is just these Android 4.4.2 devices that fail (yes, I have two HTC One phones, both with the same problem).
Reading the posts on forums.androidcentral.com , it looks like lots of folks are having the same issue.
