Html App: air.trace() not outputting to console... are Adobe still supporting html apps in AIR?

Hi
Just getting up and running
Mac OS X 10.9. Adoe AIR 3.9. All working fine except air.trace() not outputting anything to the console.
Bit of googling meant I created a mm.config in ~ with the line:
ErrorReportingEnable=1
but still no joy.
Any other tips for getting this to work or is it just now broken and/or unsupported?
Are HTML apps wrapped in AIR now legacy technology?

I have the same question... I've been trying to get an Adobe AIR HTML app going, but there appears to be no IDE that supports debugging an HTML/JS AIR App, and fdb, which is supposed to be able to debug HTML/JS AIR apps, does not.
Is HTML/JS still a supported way of developing Adobe AIR apps?  If so, then why aren't issues like this getting some attention?

    Hmmmm... would appear that you need to be actually logged in to enable the additional menu features.

    After upgrading to OS 10.8, my Mac App Store is not working. It says: Cannot Connect To The App Store. Kindly Help

    Also having that problem - I checked and I am connected to internet (can access other websites or other pages in Apple's website), can login from Snow Leopard (10.6.8) with Mac App Store there, but if I use the (external) drive with ML to start up, no go.
    I can get to the "Featured"/initial MAS page, and tried going to the login from there, but same problem as Mitoshacer.
    In my case, MacBook Pro (2.66GHz, 8GB RAM, 500GB external with ML - vs. 320GB internal drive with 10.6.8), March/April 2009 model. Have done searches for the problem online, but nothing shows up (except some for older OS X versions).

    I hate this bold 9700 series 2 no carrier and find it to be a pathetic product backed up by even more pathetic support so I have decided to use it as a torch. There is an app for this but it requires app world first. Are you trying to say that I MUST have a carrier and they will resolve this issue but otherwise RIM cannot do anything about their own product?
    Hello and Welcome to the Forums!
    We are so sorry that you are having so many difficulties. While many experience the same (a search here will reveal that fact), there are also many who have very positive experiences with their BB. Not every device is suitable for everyone -- which IMHO is why there are so many choices.
    In addition, but for AppWorld, front line support for BB's is, by contract, not provided by RIM. The carriers and authorized resellers are responsible for front line formal support to end users. It is possible to bypass your carrier and seek assistance direct from RIM, but such involves fees since you are bypassing your support agreement with your carrier. The "Support and Services" tab toward the top of these forum pages provide information about that. But, if you do go through your carrier for support, they can escalate into RIM at no fee to you if they so choose to.
    As to AppWorld Support (beyond what we volunteer to provide in these forums), that is available via this portal:
    https://www.blackberry.com/CSOHelp/index.do?ft=generic
    If you choose to submit to them in this manner, then please use, in the "Please select a component:" field, the AppWorld Billing/Payment selection. Any other selection will simply route you back anonymously to these public forums.
    As to your question, RIM and the carriers both participate in AppWorld. My suspicion is that the carriers get a portion of the costs for the apps that are vended via AppWorld -- but that's just my suspicion. Hence, the use of AppWorld indeed requires a carrier (and, indeed, the proper data plan level from them).
    But, AppWorld is merely a portal, vending apps that are (for the most part) developed by others. As such, it is not the only portal in the world for BB apps. There are a few, I think, apps that are exclusively vended via AppWorld...but I think that number is rather small. Consequently, if you desire an app that will allow your BB to function as you desire, you should seek out alternative vending portals. There are plenty.
    Good luck!

    Your apps will only be where you put them.  if you failed to put them on your computer beore updating, then they would certainly be gone.
    You can redownload them:
    Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • Your Device does not meet System requirements that are needed to support BB App World

    Hello,
    My last Torch died with a JVM. Just got it replaced today and I want to get my Downloaded apps back. After I have restored the device from BlackBerry Desktop, none of my downloaded apps are there. I have a brand new 9860 , running Bundle 7.1.  I launch App World. It tells me to upgrade. When I follow  the screen upgrades, I reach an error message : Notice: Sorry your device does not meet the system requirements that are needed to support BB App World. I have a brand new phone so first question...can I upgrade App World over Wi-FI. or do I have to get a Data Plan from my Telco first ? I have been running my old phone fine with no Data plan but enjoying BBM and Cell use. Not happy.

    They don't go into the Trash. Unless you have a backup prior to the deletion time it's gone.

    I'm using FB 4.7 and the latest AIR SDK beta. When I debug on a device, the console window works properly. • Air.trace not tracing anything (HTML/JS)?

    i am starting flash and learning from a tutorial. so i have my HTML like:
    <html>
    <head>
    <script src="AIRAliases.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    <script type="text/javascript">
    function loadHandler() {
        air.trace("Message");
    </script>
    </head>
    <body onload="loadHandler()">
    <p>Hello World</p>
    </body>
    </html>
    the program runs but nothing is traced in the cmd. AIRAliases.js exists btw. i ran
    adl HelloWorld.xml
    my descriptor file

    It works in my end.
    What if you use window.runtime.trace directly, instead of air? Does it work?

  • Air.trace() not working

    Hi all,
    Someone had a similar problem here: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/750219?tstart=0  They managed to solve it, I started adding to post but thought it best to start a brand new post.
    I've tried what they've suggested and made a file called mm.cfg in my %HomeDrive%%HomePath% directory (c:\users\james) the contents of which are:
         ErrorReportingEnable=1
         TraceOutputFileEnable=1
         TraceOutputFileName=c:\logs\flashlogs.txt
         MaxWarnings=50
    but I still don't get a log file from air.trace().  Though in C:\Users\James\AppData\Roaming\Macromedia\Flash Player  there's a file flashlog.txt with:
         Warning: Not a known player download type, app:/HelloWorld.html
    I'm running Vista and I'm using AIRSDK 2.5.  I call my hello world  application from the command prompt with " adl HelloWorld-app.xml "  I  get a window of correct dimensions with " Hello World! " as expected, but  no console message.  What am I doing wrong please?  I've been looking  for about a day now at how to get the air.trace messages but neither  those nor the introspector statements work.
    Thank you!!

  • 2.5 SDK getting started: air.trace() not working

    I don't know where to turn. I´ve followed the steps on this tutorial and air.trace doesn't work.
    I'm using Windows Vista and the command prompt to run the debugger. It starts the app but air.trace sends nothing to the command window.
    I've tried running cmd with admin privileges with no results. If I make a javascript alert {{  alert(air.trace)  }} it correctly says it's a function and testing a basic send-something-to-clipboard snippet works fine.
    Here's my code:
    <html>
    <head>
        <title>Hello World</title>
        <script type="text/javascript" src="air/AIRAliases.js"></script>
        <script type="text/javascript">
            function init(){
              // this works
           var copy = "A string to copy to the system clipboard.";
           air.Clipboard.generalClipboard.clear();
           air.Clipboard.generalClipboard.setData(air.ClipboardFormats.TEXT_FORMAT, copy);
              // this doesn't
              air.trace("anybody there?");
        </script>
    </head>
    <body onLoad="init()">
        <h1>hello world?</h1>

    I continue to receive an App upgrade notice for an App that is not on my computer. After spending several hours with a variety of divisions (Lion,iTunes,iPad,iMac) of Apple Tech Support, none can give me any definitive explanation or solution.  Prior to my recent upgrade to Lion, this did not occur.  Has anyone else had this problem?  If so, how did you resolve the issue?

    You get an update notice for an app that is not installed on your Mac. Is there a stranger's Apple ID also appearing on your Mac related with this update?
    If so, you have a pirated app on your Mac. If not, it should be another issue.

    Press and hold any of the apps and after a couple of seconds or so they should start to shake. Then press the 'x' in the left corner to delete the ones that you don't want, and when you've finished deleting press the home button so as to stop the shaking (you can't delete any of the Apple built-in apps). If you don't get the 'x' on any of the apps that you've downloaded then check that Settings > General > Restrictions > Deleting Apps isn't set 'off'
