HTML DB Adoption Rate

I came across this Post today from August 2005: Re: BEST HTMLDB WESITE COMPETITION
Basically, when John Googled "inurl:pls/htmldb", he got 3,8000 hits.
I tried the same query today, which yielded 17,800 hits!
Thus, in just under 6 months, HTML DB presence on the public Internet according to Google has increased almost by a factor of 5!!! Not bad at all, considering that the majority of HTML DB applications are likely deployed behind corporate firewalls.
Of course, this is by no means a scientific study - just an observation...
Thanks,

Changed 17,8000 to 17,800

What type of project did you see the most often used? Which one did you see the greatest demand for? So, basically I am trying to figure out what to focus on and how to market myself. Usually I choose the markets where there is high demand or where the customer experiences great pain (like Oracle Portal ;) and I can add a significant value.
Quite honestly, I've seen a good mix of things - from migrations to training - from simple, to complex.
Over the next 4-5 years or so, I see a lot of people wanting to get off of Forms, and HTML DB is a good place for them to go in most cases. Focusing on that wouldn't be a bad idea. Also, MS Access replacements are quite popular these days. It's really hard to say which area you should focus on, as you don't want to pick one and forego other opportunities for the sake of being focused...
Thanks,

  • 11i to R12 Upgrade -  Adoption Rate

Is there any publicly available information on the number of existing 11i customers that have upgraded to R12?
The management at my company was told (by an Oracle rep) that the R12 adoption rate is pretty low. Because of this information our management is considering putting our R12 project on hold until next year. I would like to provide them with some real data that they can use as they are making their decision.
It would be helpful to know the following:
1.) Number of new R12 customers
2.) Number of 11i customers who have upgraded to R12
3.) Number of 11i customers who are in the process of upgrading to R12
Please let me know if this information is available.
    Thanks.

There is no publicly available information about the number of existing 11i customers that have upgraded to R12 because it is just too many customers to manage and organizations upgrade and go live many times without telling Oracle because the implementation has gone so smoothly.
Having said that, I do track many of our customers who have approval from their management to publicly tell their upgrade story. Here is just a small sample of these customers who have upgraded and gone live on Release 12 and Release 12.1. • Jabber usage report

    Experts,
I was wondering if anyone here know how to generate report on number of users within the system launched and using their Jabber for whatever purposes? The reason for this is the I am interested to know the adoption rate of the new system we recently deployed.
    Thank you,
    Lim

    Hi Lim,
You can use RTMT to view the number of users logged in at a particular point.
Another way is to use PCP which provides these data by pulling them from the presence server. More information in the link below
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/net_mgmt/prime/collaboration/9-0/network/monitoring/diagnostics/guide/monitor/monucphone.html#wp1095300
Jabber 10.5 will have a analytics feature to address this issue.
    Regards,
    Swathi

  • Good Job Verizon Way to Get Greedy

so i hadnt noticed until today that they got rid of the unlimited data.... way to sell out like at&t verizon i just upgraded in feb but as soon as my next upgrade comes we will be taking our 6 lines to sprint a less greedy carrier with better customer service enjoy being the 2nd or 3rd largest carrier verizon... remember when at&t was #1 **bleep**ty decisions like that are why they aren't anymore

By the time you are able to switch without an ETF, Sprint will no longer have unlimited data
Incorrect. Sprint has not confirmed that they will be getting rid of unlimited data. Sprint has assured customers that they will retain their unlimited data for the foreseeable future.
    http://www.cnet.com/8301-17918_1-20111753-85/sprint-confirms-it-will-stick-with-unlimited-data-plans/
    http://www.mobileburn.com/news.jsp?Id=16762
In fact, Sprint has been shuffling and axing a lot of their customer incentive programs, such as the Premier program, early upgrade program, unlimited hotspot data and others to ensure customers will be able to keep their handset unlimited data plans even if they have to pay for the tethering beyond a certain monthly GB limit.
Until Sprint officially axes their unlimited data plan, everything is speculation.
If AT&T and Verizon were smart, they would've went the route T-Mobile went. Instead, they're greedy. Not only are they forcing tiered data limits that are realistic as more applications and devices use more data but they both have the ability to slow a users speed after they reach a certain threshold and they chose not to do so. Verizon recently has said they will begin to throttle their "unlimited" data customers who are on the 3G EVDO network.
    http://support.vzw.com/information/data_disclosure.html
    http://www.droid-life.com/2011/09/16/as-of-yesterday-verizon-started-throttling-its-top-5-data-hogs-doesnt-affect-4g-lte-or-tiered-data-customers/
It remains to be seen if the throttling will occur only to customers who are tethering their device or customers who are using data entirely from the handset. In either case, unlimited truly isn't unlimited and if Verizon had the capabilities to "throttle" data, they should have taken that approach before enforcing tiered data. At the end of the day, it all amounts to being greedy. Verizon's LTE network hasn't had the adoption rate they desired and thus they want to force customers into choosing LTE, which the throttling does not apply but tired data does, which ultimately means customers will use more data and be forced into higher tiers or pay overages. It's a cat and mouse game, which the typical customer may not realize until it begins to hit them in the wallet.
We understand Verizon is a business and their main objective is to make money but there is something to be said about a company that in the midst of a recession, side with the consumer (throttling vs. tiers), as it builds a relationship with the customer that when things begin to turn around the customer will be more tolerable of rate increases.
How can someone recommend Verizon based on price when one day a customer could sign up for a $29.99 unlimited data plan and the next day that option is no longer available and for $29.99 you get 2GB of data.
I don't tether my device at all and 10 days into my billing cycle i'm at 1.109GB according to the meter on my Bionic and that's despite the fact I use WiFi whenever possible. I would think i'm a light data user compared to others. To think 2GB will suffice in the days of streaming EVERYTHING is ludicrous. $50 for 5GB of data is price gouging. Is it fair for your parents or grandparents who may use 500MB of data per month to pay $30? There has to be a better way of handling data while reining in those who abuse the network. Those that abuse the network account for a tiny percentage but as the old adage goes, "the good must suffer with the bad".
I love how people who can't even use correct Englsh think they know how to manage one of the largest corporations in the US.

  • 10Gb-10Gb cross-device compatibility questions (PHY-connectors)...

Hi, all, in general, I'm a little surprised at all the PHYsical layer standards running 10Gb Ethernet. This seems to have hindered adoption rate substantially. I have been recently getting questions like can I connect this server chassis to this switch device. or can I connect future-proof the switch deployment now so that it will handle 10Gb firewalls when we buy those. And we have some older 6509e chassis with SUP-720, which don't seem to be able to support SFP+ linecards easily. this is pretty confusing, so just wondering if someone has found a document covering all the PHY-layer interoperability gotcha's.
I found this link, which shows the different 10Gb cards/modules for the switches:
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/interfaces_modules/transceiver_modules/compatibility/matrix/OL_6974.html
And this link, which explains the different L2 connector types
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/10-gigabit_Ethernet
    Questions:
    1. What is required for 6509e with VS-SUP720-10G to support SFP+ 10Gb connectors? looks like I need a WS-X6708-10G-3C with a special convertor: CVR-X2-SFP10G? will this WS-X6708-10G-3C run with VS-SUP720-10G?
    2. In general, can I always adapt a XenPak/X2 connector to a SFP+ connector somehow with a special dual-end cable?
    3. Are there any connector types that will not be compatible with each other? Such as Xenpack wont connect to X2. I could read the matrix, but wondering if anyone ran across any that stick out for them?
    4. If I have a cable such as this SFP-H10GB-CU5M=  (SFP+ twinax), will that work to connect up a typical server such as HP proliant with an SFP+ NIC, in almost all cases? one reason I ask is that I see the server guys bringing in their SFP+ Direct Copper cables with premade SFP+ ends, and wondering if those will be fine in most cases connecting up to cisco switch side. Or vice versa, if I use the pre-made cisco cable, will it connect to a server NIC? historically, different vendors didn't play nice with regard to these SFP standards. Does this relegate me to pretty much buying cisco SFP+ connectors in some version of fiber, and connect them to the HP-branded SFP+ fiber connectors?
    5. what are the future adoption plans for 10GBASE-T (8P8C). It seems like cisco makes a connector (X2-10GB-T), which looks promising. Is anyone using those? Does anyone think that will become the predominate standard in time, like it has for 1GB connections?

X2-10GB-T is end of life soon.
There is a SFP+ version like

  • Multiple gateways for different Traffic on ASA 5510 firewall

    Hello,
My network atthe moment is set up as:
    WAN, with three sites
    Site 1
    Site 2
    Site 3
Site 1 is behind a non-Cisco firewall, which is connected to the internet via a Frame Relay link (using a Cisco 1721 router). We host a number of servers on the Internal network and DMZ's.
All sites connect to the WAN using Cisco routers or switches.
All internet traffic (IN and OUT) for all sites goes via the non-Cisco firewall.
I am interested in the ASA 5510 with six interfaces.
Using the ASA 5510 is it possible to set up two (2) internet connections, one via the Frame Relay and a second internet connection via an ADSL connection?
Then, is it possible to direct the outward-bound traffic via specific gateways based upon either:
    (a) the type of traffic, say HTTP from users behind the firewall; or
    (b) the IP addresses of the host (i.e. users' PC versus the servers)
    Any assistance is welcome.
    Kind regards,
    IT@C

yes you can do this with policy routing on the internet router in front of the firewall assuming that you are connecting both ISPs to that router. Also, remember that you can do vlans on the ASA. This may cut down on the # of interfaces that you use in your config.

  • A useful story for you, will hope

Today I upgraded to CS6, both Design/Web Premium and Audition.
After really being attracted, and thinking a lot about it, I didn't do so via Creative Cloud. I think you might like to consider why, and things that can be good to do about it.
I'm a long-time customer and adept with the tools, but it's important to know that what I do with them is to the side rather than in the center of my endeavors. In that, I suspect I'm like very many of your customers besides those directly in design shops.
Probably many of us have also been the every-other-release updaters, which rather than 'avoiding paying up' put our income stream for you in a balance with value received. I might add that I've been an consultant executive starting new media business within a big name, and fully understand the draw that subscription business models can have, if you can subtly choose and thus successfully manage them.
Here are the deepest problems Creative Cloud showed to me at present:
Apart from the first year offer, Creative Cloud would be more expensive to me. Yes, you added the extra apps, but not in proportion to their use value for me. Maybe the 'new apps' really will help me keep up with things like eBook and Html5 developments successfully, but that's an open question, isn't it, given history?
Once on this gravy train of subscription to you, I would be committed_forever_ to keep paying, if you look at your offer practically, and with the idea of needing to use the tools. That is not something my gut would let me do. Paths can change, and particularly will on the mature side of the ledger and with the kinds of creative things those of our weight can very usefully offer, which often need to be done on a stringent budget until they can flower.
Tools. The very point in having tools is that they are there when you need them to be, both in moments where learning takes place, and in intervals of creating deliverables. That's an emotional matter, surely, and you should know strongly at the heart of any purchase of the kinds of things you make, especially by individuals or individual decision-makers, who in principle I am going to presume are in fact a significant proportion of your buyers.
What can you do about this? And maximize your profits?
Primarily, I think you should modify the Creative Cloud exit terms. Instead of reverting to whatever products we had going in, which would then be obsolete, we should revert to the recent version of those products. Thus if I had come in at CS5.5 Design Premium, I might exit when CS8 was current, and in my CC use: that CS8, now stand-alone, is what I should go forward licensed to use. Now my investment is covered, and you get all the subscription business you can receive from me, while keeping the incentives to keep me going forward, whether CC or standard licensed. I now would be free to be in or out as suited my own situation -- an immense and proper comfort.
I also feel it would do very much for Adobe customers in daily use and in their perceptions that you use the relaxation a more committed revenue stream gives you to fully share any application fixes and upgrades as soon as they are ready. It should be a privilege of all who support you, not just those who can reasonably choose to do it in the subscription way. What's begun in a much better sharing by certain courageous managers on the forums would blossom, with the turnaround on fixes and improvements available most fairly.
Can you improve the way the rates work? An elephant in the room is surely that you can always raise the rate charged. But also, there can be times surely for many where the rates just go over what the current use of the subscription will bear. I would think there's a place for the 29.95 rate to be always available, below a certain time-percentage use level per month of the tools. Now you have something a customer can stick with -- through life changes, illness, investment in new venue, and so forth. You also have an entry available for all those who need to learn them, your future customers, and I don't have to mention what alternative method enough of them use when you don't have this. So, a flat rate, for maintenance and for the new?
Let me return to the thought of tools. A person's paintbrushes ought to be always there; we don't rent them, even if in some production of art we may pay for materials including brushes at a stream. Inspiration asks that those brushes be there every time needed, to express what may become value (which will be shared with you), even or especially when we are not in such a stream. Especially in a picture like this, a satisfied and secure customer is a much better customer, don't you think?
The short of it is, subscriptions give Adobe a kind of security. Any but the most corporate of your customers need their own security in return. By improving the terms of the Creative Cloud, you will improve our ability to support you in it. Removing the threat of what happens when circumstances indicate we leave, and during periods it doesn't make individual sense to participate, would create the real virtuous circle here.
Thanks for considering this, as well as you've considered some other things and made appropriate changes, which we notice in recent times. Appreciated.

Better exit strategy? Agreed. I get the impression that Adobe's still mulling that one over and we may see more mutually beneficial terms emerge in future.
Don't know that anyone other than Adobe is happy with the current all-or-nothing terms.
Mid-cycle feature updates for perpetual customers? Won't happen other than the 0.5 releases (wonder how much longer they'll be around?). That's one of the UPSes (Unique Selling Propositions) of the Cloud.
Clearly, Adobe eventually wants to deliver all its software via subscription. They are going in the same direction as mobile (cell) phone carriers and utilities (gas/water/electricity) providers.
2010/2011's subscription model offered little value to most and got a muted response. The 2012/2013 Cloud model is much closer to the mark and the adoption rate is much higher but still being tweaked (e.g. Lightroom just arrived).
The Cloud's value obviously tempts you (so you're obviously on the fringe of the target market)- but not quite enough yet to sign up. I'm sure the balance will tip soon and tempt you again.
I'm sure the Cloud offerings will improve over time.

  • Several problems after updating to 10.4.9

    Hi all,
my powerbook G4 1.33 was running prefrectly well for the last years using 10.3.9.
I bought v 10.4.9 and installed it on a brand new internal disk. then imported prefs, apllications, files and folders from the original disk they were installed on, using the istaller option to do so.
Ever since updating I have encountered several probs:
    1) display problems: mangled icons, text being partially displayed until I resize the window, half coloured window buttons etc...
    2) crashes due (apparently) to new windows opening (like an accept /do not accept window on an installer, password window on a program...)
    3) frequent crashes when using mail (this problem did not appear right off the bat after the update
    4) Never could fax using the internal modem ever since updating. I even updated my version of Fax stf pro to the latest one. Seems my modem is permanently in idle mode
I do not have the option to revert to 10.3.9.
I tried an archive and install without succes
I killed mail prefs without succes
I ran disk warrior and techtools and all is hunky dory. I can watch 2 dvds with no crashes, surf the net for hours with no crashes, then when I want to open a text document my laptop crashes.
I am at my wits end and ask for help here before reinstalling everything or throwing it out the window.
    thanks
    Patrice

Not reinstalling isn't an option. Sounds like serious coruuption. Try this:
Get Carbon Copy Cloner, SuperDuper!, etc., boot with the disk containing 10.3.9, and use it to erase, reformat, and the zero out data security option, and put a bootable backup/clone onto the new HD. Then, boot with Panther installation on the new HD. If that looks and acts like the original, reboot with the Tiger install disk and use the upgrade previous version option. That will bypass the Migration Assistant and ensure that it'll be successful upgrade.
Finally, get a bootable, external FireWire HD, and make a bootable backup/clone before updating anything else. That allows you to revert to the previous good state without having to reinstall everything. Then, peruse these

  • I am new to ios development and would like to know if I have to make my app compatible with iphone 4, 4S and 5 then which ios version i should choose?

I have started ios development few weeks back but I am not sure on which version of ios I should develop my apps. People are having different iphone (3g, 4, 4s, 5) and I am not sure that all of them have upgraded themselves to latest  version of ios or not.
Would anyone please suggest here which verion of ios is more in use and if i develop my app on lower verion of ios then will that run on higher version or not?
    Thanks.

I would target the latest version.
Adoption rate of iOS updates is high.
Since you're just beginning development, trying to support older versions of iOS adds unneeded complexity to an already difficult task.

  • Looking for crm software for mac

I am trying to figure out which crm software is the market leader for mac? Which offers ease of use for new users?

The best suggestion I could give you wouldn't be necessarily a Mac app, but its a cloud CRM written in HTML5 and CSS 3, so it's accessible from any browser and they have native mobile and desktop apps coming soon.
It's JobNimbus. By far the easiest CRM software to use, which is something you really have to look for. Everyone CRM says they're easy to use, but the industry in general just drowns in bad adoption rate (see here) because of the terrible software they make, so you have to get in and try it out.
JobNimbus has a free 30-day trial of their Pro version, but you can still use it after that as a Basic version with less features. It's also not just CRM, but also project management, so it makes it even easier to streamline your workflow.
Go ahead and check it out, maybe try it for a couple days and see what you think: http://www.jobnimbus.com. Their customer service rocks too. I'm using it and can tell you, you won't be disappointed.

  • Possible to change sidebar div from left to right?

I'm just starting to design completely using CSS...very tough to change. I have a home page roughed out with a sidbar nav on the left BUT I'm thinking it may be a bit more mobile friendly if I move it to the right and allow the content to be all the way to the left. Here is my initial design: http://www.duenorthdesign.com/pcm
Then I switched a float left for the sidebar to float right. Then deleted the large left margin of my content div so it went to the left. Here is what I have: http://www.duenorthdesign.com/pcm/index-rightnav.html
From here, I just don't know what to do! I'm sure there are other things to change, but it's just not very obvious to me. Tables seemed so much more designer-friendly   Thanks in advance.

  • SQLSRV Driver vs PDO_SQLSRV. What would you suggest, and why?

    Hi all,
My team and I are working on a mobile XMPP/Jabber instant messaging application, aimed at iOS, Android and Windows 8 phones. The back-end XMPP Server is
OpenFire and this OpenFire Server works together with a SQL Server 2014 Database to store users, offline messages, etc. We also want to do some stuff to the database, which OpenFire does not
do by itself. For this, I have opted to use PHP on the server and call it via jQuery Ajax on the front-end. Anyway, what I am wondering is, which of the two PHP Drivers for SQL Server I should use in this case. There seem to be two drivers provided by Microsoft:
    A) SQLSRV Driver (procedural)
    and
    B) PDO_SQLSRV (Object oriented).
I am currently reading the documentation at Accessing SQL Server Databases from PHP to get some insight into these two options,
but I am wondering if anyone has any preference for any driver, and why?
Ideally, I would like a driver that is fault-tolerant in an environment where many quasi-simultaneous read/write operations are made to the database, as we are hoping for a high adoption rate for this application, meaning lots of users -> Lots of SQL
    Queries.
Thanks for all help and suggestions,
    best regards,
    Chris
Edit: Also, I am running PHP 5.5.15, however the download package at http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=20098 only includes drivers for php 5.3 and 5.4. Will these also work for PHP 5.5.15 (running XAMPP)

Hi, first I am not criticizing the Microsoft and liguagem.net is very good. depends on the sitauo of its company. you must lead in consideration you will be that valley the penalty to migrar? you find that this taking care of the necessities of the company continues working with Asp.net! here in Brazil he would be for account of the money lack that great companies want to have its applications how much good, pretty and cheap... it could until saying makes in JSP 2,0 and good IDE and eclipse 3,0, I loved:) it would advise to think a little on the situation of migrar its applications! but it thinks... migration, has much the one that to plan! it studies and it thinks very!
    my opinion this
    success

    Hi xzwsun.
Where did you put your class taxrate.TaxRate ?
In which folder? is it in \WEB-INF\classes ?
    so that you have \WEB-INF\classes\taxrate\TaxRate.class

  • CallManager 7.02 Maximum Number of Registered Devices

We are currently running CallManager version 7.02 with the following configurations:
    One Publisher and two Subscribers
    CM Groups - 2
      Sub1-CMG (used by 9000 devices)
        Sub1
        Sub2
        Pub
      Sub2-CMG (used by 4475 devices)
        Sub2
        Sub1
        Pub
Maximum Number of Registered Devices - 10000
    1) We just added some more devices that changed to number of devices to:
     Sub1-CMG (used by 10050 devices)
     Sub2-CMG (used by 4475 devices)
So, some of the new devices did not get registered with CallManager.
    2) We changed the Maximum Number of Registered Devices to 12000
When we checked the new devices, there were still some that were not registered.
    3) If we move the new devices to Sub2-CMG they register with CallManager.
    Any thoughts here?

Since you are on CUCM 7, this means your cluster is running on MCS servers, from memory I think the top level MCS server in CUCM appliance mode supported upto 7500 phones per server. So you may be running into a hardware limit. Although you can configure I guess upto 15000 phones in the CUCM service parameter but still the MCS appliance mode had the 7500 phone/server limit with a max of 30,000 phones per cluster.
So either you have a MCS 7845 I2 or H2 the limit is 7500 per server (I am guessing you have top model of the MCS from number of phones you have otherwise limit will be further lower):
