HTML DB - Print tools

Hi everybody,
Our users want to print the screen application with all the data in pages.
Is it possible to call "Gadwin Print screen" directly by the HTML DB application ?

Hello,
You can not execute a desktop application from a webpage.
If this application somehow connects itself to the standard windows print dialog you could call that but from a brief overview it doesn't look like it does. This is more a question for the developers of that product not HTML DB.

Please do following
(A). If your system is Win 7 SP1 then install a hot fix to correct inetpp.dll version at C:\Windows\System32 folder.After installing the hot fix version will be 6.1.7601.21819 from 6.1.7601.17514.
Note please uninstall CreatePDF Desktop printer then reinstall after applying the hot fix
(B). If you have not installed Adobe Postscript driver yet then please install one as below:
How to Install PS printer:
1. Open Start menu > Devices and Printer ( or from control panel) and select "Add a printer"
2. Select "Add a local printer"
3. Select "Use an existing port: LPT1: (Printer port)
4. Select any company and any PS printer with Adobe PS printer driver(not clone) such as Xerox and Xerox Phaser 6120PS

(C) Go to the printer configure port and verify your Adobe ID and password
1. Goto Start> Devices and Printers > Adobe CreatePDF Desktop Printer
2. Click right mouse to open “Printer properties”.
3. Select “Ports” tab
4. Select ”Internet Port: Adobe CreatePDF Desktop printer”
5. Click “Configure Port…” button at the bottom

Reports 3/6i HTML Output Print problem

Hi!
I am using Reports 3 to generate HTML output but when I print this HTML output, it does not break at Oracle Reports Page break. It looks like the browser takes its default settings for margins. I am using IE 5.5.
I tried the following options
1. Using { page-break-after: always } option in 'After Page Value' of Report Escapes property (Report)
2. Changing margin settings of browser, but was not able to change them to 0.
I want to print the HTML report with page breaks where Oracle marks as Page Break.

When you generate a HTML page in Reports, you are generating a single page document that is then intepretted by the browser. You are correct that when you then print this page from the browser then it will not necessarily break at the same point as the reports page breaks.
The only way to guarantee that you will get the same breaks is to use a different format. Most commonly people use PDF format when they want the printed page to match exactly what's on the screen. Alternatively you could include a link on the HTML rendition of the report that resubmits the report to the server but instructs the server to print the report directly.

Printing tools on Aix server with Forte/Oracle

I asked for it some weeks ago, but i had not enough answers... may be
you were on vacations !!!
I'm looking for a good software for manage print jobs on Aix server with
Oracle rdbms.
Something we cant use to make reports, bills, etc.. and callable with ou
without Forte.
If possible, reports template could be made on NT client (graphical
tools) but the jobs will run on the Aix (to avoid running on a NT client
and take all the network resources...).
What do you use on your site ?

I create many html page is there any tool to create responsive page easilily. Check this sample page of msbte result here i coded manually i not found any buttons or option for it

Contains HTML tags & print

Hi,
Reports6i patch10
Scenario is: I have a column (database colummn text with embedded HTML ) where I set property 'Contains HTML tags'
I get the column incl html rendered find where desformat=html&destype=file&desname=myfile.html '
but when setting
destype=printer&desformat=html&desname=myqueue and sending output straight to printerqueue the html is not being rendered in fact the column is not rendered at all
HAs anyone similar experience ? solutions ?

Hello Per Elmgreen,
When DESTYPE is specified as PRINTER, Reports formats output in PS or PCL format (depending on the printer language understood by the destination printer). Since these formats do not understand HTML tags, any such markup in the output will remain unformatted.
In order to get properly formatted output using HTML tags, you could generate the report to a HTML file (with the 'Contains HTML tags' property set) and then print the file using a browser.

Html and css tools

Is there a program that when you select a certain html markup it highlights the css markup?
That way you can find the css part of it easier if your not that familar with coding.
If so what program and how to do it please.

I find it a bit more comfortable though to use teh W3 Validator and I always access that with the Firefox Browser and the Web Developer plug-in. Another good plug in for FF is Firebug.

Is there an HTML help authoring tool for LV?

Ideally one tool fits all, LabView, C# and MSVC++.

The standard Common User Access (CUA) states that the key F1 will open help. Unfortunatly you cannot associate this key with a help file and topic as you can in other development systems.
On windows systems the behaviour seem to be common with what I have tested with MS Outlook, MS Internet explorer, LV and my favourite Help authouring tool (HAT). All open the default topic of the help file.
On IBMs AS /400, now iSeries, F1 will open a window which depends on the field where the cursor is. On GUI system this is related to the control who has the key focus. If the cursor is outside any field a help window explaining the current screen will be opened.
LV allows you to simulate this using the event structure. Make a event case for "Key up". Look into help for scan codes and how the keys are mapped to the values in this case. This event exists for the VI and for each control/indicator. If you have detected a F1 key you can open the help file with the corresponding topic.
The other way of context sensitiv help is Shift-F1. This works different in different applications. MS Outlook will open a popup window depending on the part where the mouse cursor is. MS IE will open the default topic of the help. My HAT will change the cursor and when you click somewhere you get a corresponding popup window. LV will ignore this key. The best way LV has for that is the "Tip" or "Tip Strip".
I think that NI will not make a new property to VIs and controls containing help file information and to associate the F1 key with that properties because you can connect F1 to a control using Key Navigation. This is another method of providing help. Place a control outside the visible aera and connect it with F1 using key navigation. This way you can open a help file with a topic with the context sensitivity of the window.
Another thing I have to comment is that why will you use HTML files instead of HTML based help (Win98, this is the same help LV uses)? If you have a medium sized application you will have to be careful to deploy a lot of files (more than 30 I would expect, 1 for ech topic and two or three for the frame, navigation and table of contents). You have to take into concern various browsers (4 Versions of MS IE, some versions of Netscape, some versions of Opera) with various versions of JavaScript if you will use a dynamic table of contents. And you will loose such things like Search and Favourites. Win98-Help looks always the same because there is only one viewer installed with every Windows and there are no third party products doing some things different. The only answer I would really accept is you are not on a windows platform.

Formatting html for printing-urgent

I want to print an html/jsp page from the browser by removing unneccessry images and irrelevant information
If the user select print option on the page then the page should be formatted accordingly so that only relevant the data is shown.It should fit on A4 size paper.
Hint: if u have been to developer.java.sun site then there is an option printable page or print view option on the left
On selection of this u get to see a page where unnecessary data is not shown.
if u see the link , then it actually calls printpageservlet .

Do we have a way customer the printout of the report as follow when the user click on the PRINT button?

2- Page number in the middle button of the page.AFAIK, page length is not a concept that the web browser is really aware of. So my guess would be you can't do this for each page.
3- The date on the top right corner of the page.On each page? Perhaps. Maybe with some kind of HTML frames trick. Not sure.
Bottom line: these questions are best addressed by a report writer - which AppEx (f.k.a. HTML DB) is not. And it's not really a short coming of AppEx per se. It's more a problem of the medium used to view the reports, namely the browser. Sorry.

HTML DB Printer options

I work with version 1.6. and I have a navigation bar entry name "Print Version". When I click on this entry because I put on Printer Friendly, a new window appears in front in a printer way. But, If a write on "OnClick Javascript'' window.print() , I want the printer options on this new page which I newly get the focus but the printer options is related to my first window; I do not want this.
Another question, Is it possible to combine many window.xxxxxx on "OnClick Javascript" ?

Sorry, but I really dont understand what you are trying to say.
window.print() invokes your browser's builtin File/Print function, typically that would popup a dialog box with Printer options.
For me (Firefox, Windows 2003), it brings up (see screenshot)

This has nothing to do with HTML DB.
The [Print] navigation bar in HTML DB would just redisplay the same page but pass in YES for the printer friendly mode (9th argument in f?p= syntax). This displays the target page using the "Printer Friendly" page template (if present in the theme you are using)
Another question, Is it possible to combine many window.xxxxxx on "OnClick Javascript" Instead of calling a bunch of Javascript functions inline, you can always put them in a function of your own and call that function. Is that what you mean by "combine"?

Failure saving file .html when printing front panel

Hi,
i´m trying to print the front panel of my VI, selecting HTML file option and it reports an error and doesn´t create the html file. Only if i select black and white on the html printing options i get a file, but i need it in colour. It happneds only with one VI but this failure didn´t use to appeard.
Recently i´ve install labview2011 and this project came from labview2010, which is still on system.

Problems with HP Printing tool "hplip"

Hi !
I recently got a new old printer: A HP Laserjet 5P from Oct. '95.
Installation with cups and printing works fine. It's connected via a "Prolific" Parallel-USB Adapter
Now I want to use the hplip-program to read out the level of the cartridge.
But every hplip program like "hp-levels", "hp-info" and "hp-testpage" shows me a:
error: No device selected/specified or that supports this functionality.
or:
error: No printers found. Please setup a printer and try again.
So I startet "hp-setup" to configure the printer with the hplip-programm.
The terminal output:
error: No devices found on bus: usb
The automatic discovery, nor the manual discovery with the given USB Device and Bus ID are working
I tried for the ID's "002:004" and "067b:2305" but none of them is working.

Perhaps you need cups to provide an interface for printer.
There is also an alternate method to install via hp-setup. It may help in finding the solution..use the command...... hp-setup -i...... and see what interactive install provides.

Robohelp HTML V7 -Printed Documentation Why do I get 2 TOCs?

I'm new to Robohelp using HTML V7 but will be upgrading to V8 shortly. I've created Help Files, but additionally I need to create Word and PDF files from the same source. I am getting two Table of Contents in my Word output...one numbered with Roman numerals and another with regular page numbers. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Can anyone help?

Output view? - Yes, there are some HHC5003 errors for some missing images but nothing related to the topic or image in question that I can see.
Image referenced? - Yes, it's being referenced in the RH html properly. However, the html somehow gets corrupted in the chm file. In the chm file, if I right-click on the file and choose View | Source, there is some odd code though where that image should be (shown in red):
