Html documents & safari

When opening html documents in safari it just displays all the html code on the screen instead of loading the webpage. I tried opening several different documents thinking one contained an error but they all do the same thing just display the html code instead of loading a webpage. Any ideas?

i found convert to plain text and used that still does the same thing
If you are composing html in textedit, you must first go to the preferences and set "new document" to plain text. Also check the box for "ignore rich text commands in html" under When Opening a File. Then when you Save, add the .html extension manually.

  • Safari won't open webarchives or html documents stored on computer

    I occasionally save a webpage to my computer as a .webarchive for later usage, but anytime I try to open them safari takes me to a completely different page. It brings me to my Top Sites page that shows all of my most frequently visited pages. I don't understand why safari would do this since the way the document is created is by saving the page directly in safari (command + S). I noticed the problem initially when Safari wouldn't open an html document that I had created and stored on my computer. I used the page as my homepage because it had links to all of my most frequent websites and because I liked having my own creation as my home page (that doesn’t really matter, though) and then out of nowhere when I opened safari my homepage had been changed to Yahoo (my default engine) and the html document wouldn’t open at all. I thought that maybe the problem was due to a recent update because I noticed that two new tabs were added to the toolbar (ebay and amazon), but I don’t understand why an update would make it so that .webarchive files, created by safari, wont open. I checked my safari version, it is 7.0.3, and if it helps, the html documents that won't open were made with Adobe Dreamweaver. I would really appreciate if someone could tell me what is happening because I do need to be able to open the .webarchive files I have saved in the past. Thank you.

    Carolyn, I've told you repeatedly, that site's instructions are crap. They absolutely do not fully remove the Genieo adware. In fact, the uninstaller that site refers you to will actually install components of the adware that were not already present! For the same reason, it makes no sense to rely on Genieo's instructions. I am completely mystified as to why you continue to post these suggestions.

  • How to get Safari to open an HTML document created in AIR on iOS

    We have an iOS app that creates a 3-page HTML document on the user's device and then prints it. We were using Darkredz ANE to do this, but the ANE is broken in iOS 8 and the Darkredz website is abandoned.
    As a workaround, we want to use Safari to launch the HTML document, then print from Safari. But Safari won't open a local document that belongs to another app, probably because of the security sandbox. We don't have a network connection, so we can't save the file remotely. Is there a way to get Safari to open a local document?
    If not, does anyone know of a FileManager app that can open files that are located in the "documents" folder of other apps on the device? I've tried several of them, but so far, they only load files from iCloud, Box, etc.
    Thanks for any tips.

    Sorry I didnt think about it needing to print as 3 separate pages at specific points. If you can't get the HTML printing to work then you could keep could this thought in mind. If the height of the, I presume, HTMLLoader object is the right value, you can draw the white-space of the page into the BitmapData and then it might still print at the right location. If it doesn't work immediately and you felt like putting in a little more effort, you might be able to tweak the height of the HTMLLoader objects so that each one represents a single page. Granted this approach would likely only work for one paper size format, such as 8.5x11. Sorry I don't have any easier ideas that work with what you already have done so far

  • When I open a HTML document in Safari all the images change to a ?  How do i stop this and get the images back?

    When I open a HTML document in Safari rather then getting an image, I get a ? in a box.  Why is this and how can I change it to get the images back?

    monkeyde,
    You are getting entagled in the two confusing meanings of the term pixels, namely as a unit identical to points and equalling 1/72 inch, and the basic component of raster images (and effects).
    You can read on in this very recent thread:
    Is there a way to get Illustrator to know how many pixels are in an inch?

  • All my html documents replaced with Safari Icon!

    With 10.6's safari all my html document icons were changed.
    The creator application icon has been changed to Safari and NOW All open in Safari. (I presume because of the .html)
    I want them, LIKE BEFORE to open as text in the _application that created the html document_.
    When I want to view it as a webpage, I will drag it to Safari myself.
    HOW do I fix this so that each Document Opens with the Original APP ??????
    Thanks
    -Sandy

    No luck. It did change back all my APWKS html files to safari Icons which meant changing them again
    So I verified/fixed permissions. Got two suspicious replies (dont know if it means anything)
    Warning: SUID file "System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAg ent" has been modified and will not be repaired.
    Warning: SUID file "System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/DesktopServicesPriv.framework/Versions/A/Reso urces/Locum" has been modified and will not be repaired.
    Here might be a clue. Whenever I had trouble before (10.5) it was either one of the two below that I learned to live with. But nothing like what's happening now.
    1) APLWKS crashed using spell check. (So I saved first) On rebooting APLWKS it worked fine
    2) Font Selection was slow in going down the list.

  • Safari opens an HTML document on startup

    To recover from a hard disc problem and minor crashes I created a clone (with SuperDuper) erased and reinstalled. Everything seems OK except for the minor issue that Safari launches on startup and opens an HTML document. Currently it is (file:///usr/X11R6/lib/X11/doc/html/XtCancelSelectionRequest.3.html) -previously it was a Spanish language file from the Pages application and it changed when I removed the language file. Safari is not set as a startup item in Accounts/Login. This happened on my cloned drive which I then copied back to my main drive. I have cleared Safari histories, caches removed plist and repaired permissions without success
    Any ideas?

    Safari's default open page is set in Safari preferences. Open Safari preferences, click on the General icon in the toolbar. You will see the fields for setting the default page.
    To stop Safari launching on startup verify that it isn't or some other item is included in the Login Items of Accounts preferences. Then also check /Library/StartupItems/ folder to see if a startup item is there that may be launching Safari.

  • .pdfs, .docs and jpegs are downloading as .html through Safari

    When I try downloading .doc, jpegs, and pdfs, they download as html documents. I came across a similiar post and tried the following suggestions:
    I cleared the Safari cache which did not solve the problem
    I trashed the Safari preference file (com.apple.safari.plist), restarted and reentered my personal preferences which did not help the problem
    I then reset Safari which has caused more problems. I now cannot upload nor download any file.
    My mail account is set up through our service provider, COX.net, and I am running OS 10.4.6. I would appreciate any help you can offer in regards to this matter.
    Thank you in advance
    Frank

    The problems did start right after our internet
    provider, COX, upgraded their WebMail. System 10.3.9
    was not affected but Tiger was. I tried asking the
    technicians at COX, but they stated the problem
    rested in the browser.
    OPERA works fine. I can download and upload, access
    and compose mail without any problems.
    Good News: Removing the .html suffix from the file
    that download through Safari (as advised) does work.
    I can now access the files properly with that
    additional step.
    Bad News: I cannot access COX's WebMail address book,
    nor can I compose mail. Clicking on any of these
    functions directs WebMail to the sign-in page.
    I'm getting closer.
    Thanks for all your help.
    There you go. There are two ways to look at it - as a browser problem or as a coding problem with the webmail app they are using. Either one is a valid position really. If Safari has changed the way its done things then yeah its a safari issue... But at the same time the code is probably written in such a way that it invokes this behavior and thus is not competely compatible with your system. Generally its the responsibility of the web developer to ensure that theyve written code that works on the target browsers and OSes in question. At the same time though developers can be expected to support every browser and OS out there 100%.
    Ofcourse if they didnt develop the webmail app themselves then there isnt much they can do.
    Question though... Dont they support POP and/or IMAP access to mail? Why not just use a an email application to access your mail?

  • Preview of HTML document in KM Navigation iView

    Hi all!
    I need your help. I would like to create layout set which would be able to display tree on the left side and preview of HTML document on the right side of content area. If I click on HTML document in the tree I need to see his preview. I thought that I can resolve this by "Explorer and Preview" profile. But unfortunely it doesn't work. Has someone any experience with the profile? Or can someone advice to me how create new layout set?
    I found this links, but they didn't help me much.

    Hi Saurabh,
    Using the presentation settings in Details can sometimes
    be tricky since it remembers the context of which iView
    called it. Make sure you open the details out of the iView
    in which you want the customizations to be in effect.
    Otherwise, changing it in the configuration is a
    bit more straightforward in its effects.

  • Print html document

    Hi, I'm trying to print a html document with this following java code but doesn't works:
      public void onActionPrintEncuestaPDF(com.sap.tc.webdynpro.progmodel.api.IWDCustomEvent wdEvent )
        //@@begin onActionPrintEncuestaPDF(ServerEvent)
         try{
              Robot robot = new Robot();
              // Ctrl+P
              robot.keyPress(KeyEvent.VK_CONTROL );
              robot.keyPress(KeyEvent.VK_P );
              robot.keyRelease(KeyEvent.VK_CONTROL);
              robot.keyRelease(KeyEvent.VK_P );
              Thread.sleep(500);
              //Alt+U
              robot.keyPress(KeyEvent.VK_ALT );
              robot.keyPress(KeyEvent.VK_U );
              robot.keyRelease(KeyEvent.VK_ALT );
              robot.keyRelease(KeyEvent.VK_U );
              Thread.sleep(500);
              //entrée
              robot.keyPress(KeyEvent.VK_ENTER);
              robot.keyRelease(KeyEvent.VK_ENTER );
              Thread.sleep(500);
         catch(Exception e){  }
        //@@end
    This is not working because java.awt.Robot is a part of AWT package and intended for the client site, how I can make an action that when the
    client push the print button. Print the html document automatly.

    I create into KM Content on portal a file called print.html and I put the following code:
    &#65279;<html>
      <head />
      <body onLoad="window.parent.focus(); window.parent.print();">
      </body>
    </html>
    Because window.paren.print(); printed the code of actual iFrame. And into Web Dynpro I created a button that call the following function.
    public void onActionPrintEncuestaPDF(com.sap.tc.webdynpro.progmodel.api.IWDCustomEvent wdEvent )
        //@@begin onActionPrintEncuestaPDF(ServerEvent)     wdContext.currentPrintElement().setAtrURL("/irj/go/km/docs/documents/print/print.html");
       //@@end

  • Print only a specific control or indicator on a front panel to HTML document

    Is there any way to print a specific control or indicator (not the whole front panel) to HTML document? I am trying to print a report that has a graph and some indicator value on it.

    There is a VI called "Append Control Image to Report.vi" which will allow you to do this. It's located in the Functions>>Report Generation pallette. Take a look at this and see if it's what you're looking for.

  • How can I embed a HTML document onto my webpage?

    What I am trying to do: I am trying to make an image that has links to urls from different parts of the image.
    What I have done so far: I have built a photoshop image to embed on my webpage, following the instructions offered by many online forums, but cannot actually embed it as it isn't a url.
    Firstly, I sliced up an image, adding url's and alt tage etc to each slice. Then I did:
    File > Save for web > (Prest: JPEG High) > Save > (entered my file name) Format: HTML and Iamges > Save
    When I locate my file where I saved it, it has been saved as a Chrome HTML Document, but I can't then embed this on my website, using the 'embed code' tool I normally use. I presume this is because it doesn't begin with http:// ?
    Here is the HTML document I have made: file:///C:/Users/Daniel/Desktop/UK%20map%20interactive/Afternoon/UK-map-locations.html
    (If you can see this) This is the image I want and the links are working too but it's getting this onto an existing webpage.
    Other pages I have seen have talked about iamge maps, but I take it using the slice tool is better for what I am trying to acheive?
    Any suggestions/help would be greatly appreciated.

    One: Users can't see links on your local desktop. You would have to upload the files somewhere. Two: Images generally don't contain links. URLs are meta information build around the image in HTML. Three: Because of the previous point, whether you use sliced images or an image map doesn't matter, if you have no way of inserting the information into the native HTML structure of the web pages. If at all, you would open the HTML file in a suitable editor like Dreamweaver (or even a basic text editor) and copy&paste it into the web page sourcve code, but you'd still have to upload the image(s). The rest we can't know. You have not provided any link to the web site or told us which hosting provider you use. From your description it sounds like one of those "free" providers that restrict user's options to customize to the bare minimum and the rest is based on templates and plastered with advertising. In any case, the solution is not in Photoshop and you would have to read up on web design basics, HTML, CSS and al lthat on a more general level or review your hosting provider's guides on how to set all this up.

  • Creation of fillable forms from existing HTML documents

    Hi All,
    I know this is doable, but I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction or perhaps to an existing HowTo.
    I recently started working for a company in which part of my job duties includes the creation of new users and deauthinication of terminated user accounts. The company uses specific forms for accomplishing this that are filled out from templates in Outlook 2010, i.e. New Items-->More Items-->Choose Forms. This provides the users with a list of forms. By clicking on one of these forms it opens an e-mail that the requester populates.
    The issue we are having with this is that sometimes they use the form, and/or don't provide the right information. They will modify the form and delete certain row or columns etc. They also have a tendency to not provide all the mandatory information.
    I can take these forms and save them as HTML document from Outlook. What I would like to do is create them as fillable PDF forms with some fields as drop downs, other as mandatory and once they have completed the form correctly, (at least to the extent I can make it fool proof), then they can click on a button that will allow them to e-mail the completed form to the desired recipient admin group via outlook.
    The current method is the requester fills out the form then e-mails it to say their manager, who then types approved and sends it back, the requester then sends it to the next person until all the needed "approves" are received then it gets forwarded to a group who is basically the clearinghouse for all access requests who then send it to the appropriate systems admin group emails for completion. Once complete the admins do a reply all with users created or deauthinicated etc for systems xxx and xxx as requested at the top of the e-mail.
    I want to make this process more standardized to prevent users from not completing the form correctly or modifying the Outlook form to their own interpretation of how the form should be or leaving out mandatory information.
    I would also like the form to automatically name itself with the employee number of the requestor with the date and time appended, i.e RM74651_10202014_0917 when they go to send it and place a copy of the completed form in a pre-specified network folder.
    Any information, suggestions or HowTo would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Gordon

    Hi Surabh,
    Use HTML codes in notepad. Use the notepad to upload the file and create mail form. You should follow W3C standard. Refer note 1131645.

  • Photosmart C6180 prints too many copies of PDFs and HTML-documents

    Hi,
    My Photosmart C6180 prints multiple copies of documents even if I haven't asked for it. This seems to only apply to PDFs and HTML-documents, I haven't seen it happen with Word/Excel. It's not consistent, it happens most of the time but now always for these documents. When I look at the console, when it has started printing I see shortly the status "Printing - Restarting". That's probably when it starts the 2nd copy. Sometimes it stops by itself, other times it seems to be looping and I have to turn the printer off and delete the document from the queue.
    HP solution center SW is updated, I run Vista with latest service packs on a Thinkpad T400s.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

    My C6180 printed multiple copies of any document from my Vista OS laptop ( wireless connection ), but not from my
    XP OS desktop ( USB connection), even though I selected 1 copy on the print menu. Unchecking "Enable bidirectional support" in the Properties / Ports dialog box solved the problem. Hope this helps someone too.
