HTML file and Word Wrap

hi,
i am saving a HTML file (downloaded from the web) ....
i wanna know... how to set a Word Wrap... so it won't scroll to the right hand side....
any ideas

ok i think code will give you a better view of what i am trying to say
try {
URL hostURL = new URL("http://search.lycos.com/main/default.asp?lpv=1&loc=searchhp&query=USA");
HttpURLConnection tc = (HttpURLConnection) hostURL.openConnection();
FileOutputStream fs = new FileOutputStream("results.html");
tc.setDoInput(true);
tc.connect();
String inputLine;
BufferedReader in = new BufferedReader( new InputStreamReader (tc.getInputStream()));
while(( inputLine = in.readLine()) != null )
fs.write( inputLine.getBytes());
fs.close();
in.close();
tc.disconnect();
}catch(Exception e) { System.err.println(e); }
HTML retrieved by this code is saved in a file "abcde.html"
but this code copies whole HTML of the above page in a one line.... i was wondering is there
any way to setWordWrap ( like insert newline char) so "abcde.html" is more readable

  • DataGrid, HTML Text, and WORD WRAPPING

    I have a datagrid, with 2 columns:
    - comment
    - date
    The dataprovider that feeds the datagrid is an array
    collection, with each object containing the following fields:
    - comment
    - date
    - viewed
    What I want to do is BOLD the comment cell if the comment has
    not yet been viewed. What I first tried doing was to just insert
    the <b></b> tags on the server and then feed them up to
    Flex. So here's the code that I had tried to do this with:
    <mx:DataGridColumn>
    <mx:itemRenderer>
    <mx:Component>
    <mx:HBox>
    <mx:Label htmlText="{data.comment}" />
    </mx:HBox>
    </mx:Component>
    </mx:itemRenderer>
    </mx:DataGridColumn>
    This works, but I lose the word wrapping for long comments (I
    have wordwrap="true" defined on my DataGrid).
    Then I tried changing my approach and doing something a
    little more simple to try and preserve the word wrapping, like
    this:
    <mx:DataGridColumn dataField="comment" width="100"
    wordWrap="true" fontWeight="{(data.viewed==0 ? 'bold' : 'normal')}"
    />
    Yet that doesn't seem to work either, it appears to just
    completely ignore everything... no bolding whatsoever.
    So my question is: what's the best to to control the BOLDING
    of a DataGrid cell while at the same time retaining the word wrap
    features?
    Thanks,
    Jacob

    <mx:DataGridColumn>
    <mx:itemRenderer>
    <mx:Component>
    <mx:HBox>
    <mx:Label htmlText="{data.comment}"
    wordWrap="true" height="100%"/>
    </mx:HBox>
    </mx:Component>
    </mx:itemRenderer>
    </mx:DataGridColumn>

  • Read Only TextAreas with Carriage Return, Line Breaks and Word Wrapping

    Hi all,
    I know there are a few posts around this subject but I cannot find the answer to the exact problem I have.
    I have a page that has a 'TextArea with Character Counter' (4000 Chars) that is conditionally read only based on the users credentials (using the 'Read Only' attributes of the TextArea item).
    When the field is editable (not Read Only) everything works fine but when I make the field Read Only I start to have problems:
    The first problem is that the Carriage Return and Line Breaks are ignored and the text becomes one continuos block. I have managed to fix this by adding pre and post element text of pre and /pre tags. This has made the Carriage Return and Line Breaks word nicely and dispaly correctly.
    However, it has introduced a second problem. Long lines, with no Carriage Returns or Line Breaks, now extend to the far right of the page with no word wrapping, making my page potentially 4000+ characters wide.
    How can I get the field to be display only, with recognised Carriage Returns and Line Breaks, and Word Wrapping inside a fixed width of, say, 150 characters?
    Many thanks,
    Martin

    Hi,
    Just a cut and paste of yours with the field name changed:
    htp.p('<script>');
    htp.p('$x("P3_COMMENTS").readonly=true;');
    htp.p('</script>');I also have the following in the page HTML Header, could they be conflicting?
    <script type="text/javascript" language="JavaScript">
    function setReleaseToProd(wpTypeCode){
       //setReleaseToProd($v(this))
      var get = new htmldb_Get(null,$v('pFlowId'),'APPLICATION_PROCESS=set_release_to_prod',0);
      get.addParam('x01',wpTypeCode);
      gReturn = get.get();
      if(gReturn) {
         $s('P3_RELEASE_TO_PROD',gReturn);
      get = null;
    </script>I am a long way from knowing much about Javascript (this page code was written by someone else) so all help is much appreciated.

  • When I try to attach my css style sheet Dreamweaver gives me an error saying that my .css file appears to be an .html file and will not attach. How do I fix this so I can attach my style sheet?

    I have built a css style sheet in Dreamweaver. When I try to attach it to my html website, it prompts me that my "css file appears to be an .html file and cannot attach". I've tried removing the /* */ as suggested by other forums, but this has not resolved the issue. I was using css style sheets with no problem 2 days ago. Now I get that error message. How do I fix this so I can attach my style sheet?

    What does the code of the CSS file look like?
    An external CSS file needs to be written in CSS only (no html tags like <html>, <body>, <head>, etc ).
    It also must have a .css file extension, if yours has a .html extension it won't work.

  • Combining bookmarks .html files, and sorting

    Hi,
    (1) I know how to import bookmarks, but, once I import all of my bookmark .html files, (have 6)... than I go to show all bookmarks, I have 6 "unsorted bookmarks" folder tabs, and one "unsorted bookmarks" tab of my current bookmarks. How do I combine all of these into 1 giant .html file? Or is it automatically combined once I imported, to where I can export and it'll have all 6 old .html files and my current bookmarks?
    (2) I know how to sort bookmarks, and I like sorting by "location", but is there a way to export as .html file so it saves the .html book mark file by "location"?
    (3) In the .html file there is some sub description for each bookmark, such as "Twitter is a social networking site, where users tweet to other users blah blah", is there any way to delete this? I'd like it only to display the bookmark name and the URL (usually I'll have to click on the name and it'll open up the website), but I like the website to be typed out.

    -1- <br />Yes all those bookmarks.html files will be merged into Firefox, and when you 'export' from Firefox those 6 files will be in one html file. No those extra 'unsorted bookmarks' folders won't be automatically combined, you need to do that yourself.
    -2-<br />No, 'location' sorting isn't reflected in an exported bookmarks.html file. That type of 'sort' is temporary in the Library view, and doesn't rearrange bookmarks in the places.sqlite file which is what is exported in html format. <br />
    Save this code as a Bookmarklet and click on it to make an HTML page editable. <pre><nowiki> javascript:document.body.contentEditable='true';%20document.designMode='on';%20void%200</nowiki></pre>
    Once the page is 'editable', you will be able to cut and paste bookmarks from one place on the page to another.
    -3-<br/>This code when run in the URL bar ''(or saved as a bookmarklet)'' while a bookmarks.html file is being displayed in Firefox will strip the extraneous information from that bookmarks file. Just save the bookmarks file when the 'strip' is completed.
    <pre><nowiki>javascript:%20(function(){%20var%20ls=document.getElementsByTagName('*'),%20lsl=ls.length;%20for%20(var%20i=0;%20i<lsl;%20i++)%20{l=ls[i];%20l.removeAttribute('id');%20l.removeAttribute('last_charset');%20l.removeAttribute('icon');%20l.removeAttribute('ICON_URI');l.removeAttribute('last_modified');%20l.removeAttribute('last_visit');%20l.removeAttribute('add_date');%20l.removeAttribute('personal_toolbar_folder');}%20var%20e=document.getElementsByTagName('dd');%20el=e.length;%20for(var%20i=el-1;i>=0;i--)%20e[i].parentNode.removeChild(e[i]);%20alert('Cleanup%20Complete%20-%20Save%20as%20Web%20Page,%20Complete\n'+'('+lsl+'%20bookmarks,%20'+el+'%20descriptions)')})();</nowiki></pre>

    Dear Portal Gurus,
    Using KM API, I am trying to download, documents from KM in my Web Dynpro Application. But .pdf files and word docs with screenshots are not getting retrieved from KM. Word docs opens with no content and Adobe opens with an error saying "Either it is a damaged file or It is not a supported file".
    I am using the following KM service to download the content.
    public byte[] retrieveResourceInBytes(String strRid){

    Hi,
    Which web browser are you using to view the PDF? Safari 5.1.8
    When you open the PDF in Adobe Reader add-in you will either see a floating toolbar
    http://forums.adobe.com/servlet/JiveServlet/downloadImage/2-5224223-317859/430-90/floating +toolbar.JPG
    or a normal toolbar
    http://forums.adobe.com/servlet/JiveServlet/downloadImage/2-5224223-317860/450-11/normalto olbar.JPG
    both the toolbars have save button, use the button to save the file locally. I do not see these toolbars. I do, however see this
    and it works! Thanks
    Hope this will help you.
    Thanks

  • Attaching HTML file and sending through mail

    Hi
    My Requirement is
    I want to attach HTML File and send through mail id's.
    But there are number of html files
    user can select any  one file.
    it has to attach and send to the mail id.

    Hi V,
    check the link:

  • Program to read html file and to open the links in that html file

    program to read html file and to open the links in that html file..
    ex:- to read automatically all next links in the html file and save it hard disk

    Start here;
    http://java.sun.com/products/jfc/tsc/articles/bookmarks/
    It gives you all of the information you need to parse the HTML file using the HTMLEditorKit that is a part of the Java SDK.
    Once you get the links from the file, then you can think about connecting to each.

  • Ingest HTML file and ALL of it's contents

    In hopes of maintaining ALL files in the database, is there a way to ingest an HTML file and all of the corresponding content (gif, jpeg, wav, mp3, mpeg, etc) displayed or referenced by the HTML page.
    All the content referenced by the HTML is in the same directory as the HTML file itself.

    Not sure what you mean, the question is there:
    "...is there a way to ingest an HTML file and all of the corresponding content (gif, jpeg, wav, mp3, mpeg, etc) displayed or referenced by the HTML page"
    I'd like to be able to ingest ALL the content on an HTML page (ie. the images displayed and any audio/video referenced) and when the HTML page is referenced from the database, the images will be displayed on the page and if a user were to click on any audio/video link, the media will be served to the user.
    Apparently, prior versions of the PL/SQL gateway supported this type of functionality (at least the images part), but has since been deprecated.

  • [Solved]Conky and word wrapping - Is there a way?

    So I have a very limited area to work with, something like 176x360 (+/- a few pixels), and I want the ability to show an RSS feed. Well, the feed works of course, but due to the limited width, I'm in great need of word wrapping, and for that problem I have found no solution and going on for 2-3 hours straight, my head hurts
    Anyway, here's my .conkyrc, not that it's needed of course.

    I know this looks confusing and probably is full of critical error, but that simple because I'm a conky noob. I basically just downloaded a profile I liked and completely changed it over the course of a few hours.
    Anyway, I'm rambling again, but if you've got any idea's, please do let me know.
    Best regards.

    Okay, so I've found sort of a solution to part of the problem, so what I have so far look like this:
    wget -quiet -O - archlinux.org/feeds/news/ | fmt -w 25 -g 25
    It works as long as there are no words longer than 25 character, which I should think is rare, even including package names and such.
    However there's still the issue parsing the xml so I get only what I want:
    <item><title>$content</title><link>
    This may be solved using some sort of terminal rss parser, but I would rather prefer not to.
    Then there's the issue with reloading.
    My current conky is set to reload every second, but of course one can't just pull the feed every second and I'm not convinced that conky has any built in solution for that problem. Of course I can always start a cronjob and save it all to a file, but portability would be nice.
    anyway, I'll return later.

  • Open my html file and cannot edit it

    When I open my html file from Flash, in view design all I get is a grey box with the Flash symbol in the middle and no html tools.
    I want to link some of my buttons but if I go into view live I get html tools but I still can't access them to make links.
    How do I get my html page so that I can make my links?
    Forrest

    Your next button can still do that.  But it has to be programmed within Flash.  Flash files are not natively handled by Dreamweaver.  You have to export them in order to place them on a website within Dreamweaver.
    The only way that Dreamweaver can do this for you is if you create a button in Dreamweaver which does this action for you outside of the Flash area.  Then this button can link to another page or Flash file.  But if the button resides within the Flash file then it must be edited with Flash.

  • Text area and Word Wrapping

    I am creating a email form and am having problems with word
    wraping in the text area. You can view the page and the output if
    you put your email address in the form. The problem is the text
    areas word wrap when inputting your information but all formatting
    is lost in the email. Even if I add spacing for paragraphs. All
    data is just a big run on sentence.
    Here is the
    Page.
    I am using Dreamweaver * and php.
    Thanks

    Someone may have tried this because I received this output in
    an email. You can see the formattint is lost.
