HTML Files Displaying Differently In Safari?

I've got several HTML pages that I've created from Excel files. I've noted some differences in the way these pages display in Safari (I'm running version 2.0.3 of Safari on OS 10.4.5).
First, there's a line of text in these files displaying in the wrong font. The text is in "Denmark" but it's displayed in "Helvetica".
Second, the frame borders I've put in the Excel files aren't displaying in the web pages.
I've opened these files in Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Opera and in all three, they look just fine. Why the differences with Safari? How can I get these pages to display as I intended?
Thanks.
PowerBook G4 Titanium 550 MHz   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

Its not a web-safe font and may be substituted when your site is viewed on a PC. This will look weird and may screw up your layout.
If you really must use a non web safe font you need to convert it to an image but this increases page download time and the search engine spiders can't "read" it.
The iWeb help file will give you info on converting font to image. Also turn on the imagining indicator in iWeb prefs.

    I have noticed that web page images display differently in Safari than in Explorer on a PC. On a PC, the web page may display three images side by side. In Safari, I might get two images side by side and the theid image below. Is there any correction for this? Thanks.

  • How to generate & publish  webhelp html files in different folder than default folder

    Hi All,
    I am new to robo help. I have a requirement to generate & publish webhelp html files in a different folder than default folder.
    Could anyone please tell me the steps to change the folder
    Thanks
    Rashmi

    You change the generate folder and filename in the first field on the first page of the wizard. It must be a folder on your hard disk.
    You change the publish folder in the last page of the wizard. Anywhere you like.

  • PDF file displays different number of text blocks in Acrobat Pro CC 2014 and CS6 versions

    Hi,
    I've inherited a file at work that displays different numbers of text blocks, depending on the version of Acrobat Pro used to view the file. Here's the specific issue:
    As viewed in CC 2014:
    "Chapter 1 - Chapter One Title": Appears as two text blocks -- one for "Chapter 1 - " and one for "Chapter One Title"
    As viewed in CS 6:
    "Chapter 1 - Chapter One Title": Appears as a single text block -- "Chapter 1 - Chapter One Title"
    This occurs only with regard to single-digit chapter numbers that are whole numbers. So:
    Chapter 1, Chapter 5, and Chapter 7 entries appear as two blocks in CC 2014, one block in CS6.
    Chapter 2.0, Chapter 6.1, Chapter 10, entries appear in single blocks in both CC 2014 and CS6.
    The PDF file was created -- I believe -- through the save-to-PDF feature in Word 2010.
    Any idea what's happening here?
    Thanks.
    David

    First of all, there is no such thing as Acrobat CS6 or Acrobat CC 2014. We assume you are referring to Acrobat X and Acrobat XI respectively.
    Secondly, how are you determining how many text blocks are in the PDF file? By use of the text touchup/edit function in Acrobat? If so, how this edit function displays text doesn't necessarily correspond to the actually underlying text fragments in the PDF file. In fact, sometimes it combines fragments based on heuristics. Those heuristics have varied with different version of Acrobat.
    PDF as a file format doesn't know the context of the graphical objects such as text. There is no concept of a line, a sentence, a paragraph, a column, etc. in terms of text. Runs of text are context-insensitive. You will get “breaks” when switching between regular and italics or when unusual paragraph justification is involved.
    Is the actual problem in trying to edit the text or something else?
    If you post a file, and indicate what text we should look at, we can confirm what is actually going on in your file.

  • File displaying different from Photoshop to Illustrator

    I have a simple chalkboard background I made in Photoshop and I'm importing into Illustrator. My issue is the file displays completely different from Photoshop to Illustrator. See image below.
    I've had this happen to other files but this one is so incredibly different, I can't understand what's happening and I can't manage the design with it being this different. Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance for your help!
    Rachel

    Thanks again Monika. I can't figure this out. The color management is all synchronized among all my Adobe applications. Yes the file is in layers and when I view the JPG in Photoshop, it looks as it should. It's only when I bring it into Illustrator does it look like that. I opened up a new Illustrator doc and placed the same JPG (as well as dragged the PSD file directly from the Photoshop window into Illustrator) and it looks better and more like it should. My other doc was a new doc too so I'm not sure what happened. At any rate, I can't explain what happened and I'm just hoping it doesn't happen again.
    Thanks for your help!

  • Why are jpg files displayed different in Lightroom 4 then in f.e. Apple Quicktime? How to make it similar?

    I use  Lightroom 4 for organizing and processing my photo's on my Sony Vaio VPCF11C5E (Windows 7, 64bit). When I import (no presets applied) the jpg files of my canon 6d (camera setting sRGB) in Lightroom 4, the pictures are displayed differently (less colorful) then  when displayed in f.e. the slideshow mode of Windows Photo Viewer or in Apple's Quicktime. Which settings do I need to change to display the photo's in Lightroom in the same way as in f.e. Apple's Quicktime?

    If there's a mismatch from LR, that's likely due to the other application not being color managed which is what I suspect is the case with the version of Windows Photo Viewer. LR is correct.

  • Saving jpeg and html file into different folders

    Hi, all.
    I developed a VI that generates, on a timely basis, reports (HTML format) that contain some text, numerical values and graph images (jpeg). The problem is that when it saves a HTML file to a folder, JPEG files are also saved into the same folder.
    Is there any way I can save these html and jpeg into different folders?
    Or is it even possible to generate html report with some graph images without having to have save jpeg files? (this would be even better).
    I included a screen shot of the VI.
    Thanks in advance for your help.

    There is currently no way, with the Report Generation VIs, to save the image files for an HTML report to a separate folder.  If you think this would be a helpful feature, please submit your request to the Product Suggestion Center, and we will look into possibly including this feature in a future release.  For now, the only workaround I can think of would be for you to use the File I/O VIs to manually create another folder and move the image files to it, then use the string manipulation functions to edit the contents of the HTML file to point all image file references to the new location.
    As for not generating images, I don't know of an easy way to have an HTML page with images where there are not corresponding image files.

    Palo Alto Joins the Ban Against
             Non-Recyclable Materials
           This Spring, Palo Alto joined the list of more than 30 cities and counties in California who are making good on their efforts toward reducing their greenhouse gas emissions
           by enacting partial or comprehensive bans on polystyrene (PS) foam and/or non-recyclable disposable foodservice containers. Around the same time, a California statewide ban on the use of PS containers was tabled before reaching the State Assembly floor. Representative
           Jerry Hill, one of AB 1358’s sponsors, pulled the bill due
           to concerns addressed in the Appropriations committee hearing of the bill, regarding the fiscal impacts which
           were not addressed in bill’s contents.
           Largely represented by the California Restaurant Association, opponents of AB 1358 lobbied legislative representatives and argued there would be a negative fiscal impact on struggling restaurant owners and their customers in order to accommodate the more expensive alternatives to PS containers.     There are the unquantifiable and “hidden” costs of contaminating our bodies and environment which would far surpass the fiscal impact on the plastics, restaurants and consumer industries. Studies published by the Foundation for Advancements in Science and Education have indicated that varying levels of styrene residues
             are present in 100% of all human fat tissue in the
             United States, as PS products are found to lose weight after in contact with hot or fatty/acidic foods and liquids, causing migration of the styrene into the food or fluid, ending up in the human body. On the high end, the levels were “one third of levels known to cause neurotoxic symptoms”. In the environment,
             PS is rarely recycled and does not biodegrade.     Supporting safer alternatives to polystyrene, in addition to the collection infrastructure and processing mechanisms for the compostable and recyclable products would help create more green jobs in the long run and would be a move in the right direction away from unnecessary harm

  • Webpage displays differently in safari

    Hi,
    I'm having some trouble getting my website to display correctly in safari. It's fine in chrome and firefox but for some reason not safari. Thi is how  it is supposed to look:
    whereas this is how it displays in safari:
    the site is located at http://www.shanghainightsbristol.co.uk/shanghai-new/
    any help would be muc appreciated!
    thanks,
    Chris.

    WTF? I'm confused - why are you using the image below to get a white background in the .middlecontent-back <div>?????
    http://www.shanghainightsbristol.co.uk/shanghai-new/whiteback.png
    If you want a white back just add background-color: #FFF; (as below) and comment out the background image as shown:
    .middlecontent-back {
        width: 1020px;
        height: 777px;
        float: left;
        /* background: url(http://www.shanghainightsbristol.co.uk/shanghai-new/whiteback.png) repeat-x #FFF;*/
        background-color: #FFF;
        margin-top:25px;

  • HTML table display issues in Safari and Firefox

    Hey,
    A few days ago, in both firefox and safari, i noticed that whenever i go to certain sites with (i'm assuming) what are HTML tables, they aren't displaying properly. The tables are going way bigger than they should.
    ex. When i go to craigslist.org and click on any link, each item on the page has way more space between lines than it should. To see what i mean check out these screen capture.

    Also, perhaps a related issue, in Firefox, the page scrolling isn't smooth anymore when i use my trackpad.
    I tried trashing the preferences for each browser in my library, to no avail. Any help would be awesome. thanks

    hey thanks. The links in the orgininal post are fixed. To view the difference, look at the captures, then type in the url that appears in the captures to see what it should look like.

  • Why won't my attached index.html file display properly?

    Hi
    It's taken me months to get my head around DW CS5 and I have finally started to produce the first few pages of my site!
    My problem now is that I need to send the unpublished pages to my client for review but simply attaching the files to an email is obviously not enough! I have a horrible feeling it's something to do with browser compatibility and I'll have to re-do what's taken me an age to do in order to get them to display correctly? When I send the page as an attachment, it opens as a blank green page with just the alt text boxes displayed and nothing else.
    Or is it because my image refs are not absolute urls? Which leads me to my next question... how do I know the urls without signing up to a host and publishing the site?
    Thanks in advance to anyone who can help..... I'm tearing my hair out as it's already way overdue, so I'd really appreciate any help you can offer....
    Many thanks, guys!

    When I send the page as an attachment, it opens as a blank green page with just the alt text boxes displayed and nothing else.
    A basic understanding of HTML would tell you that the files which appear in your "preview" such as images, and then only appear as "alt text" when you send this page to someone else cannot be solved by using an absolute URL since the absolute ULR is something like  C:\Documents and Settings\You\Documents\Site Folder\Root folder\Images\image.jpg and there is no way the recipient of the email can view pictures in a folder on your system from their system unless they can connect to your system by VPN.
    If you're just running a layout by them, you should send a screen capture of the page opened in a browser. There's no need for full functionality until they are ready to go live with it and that usually would entail a face to face or putting the files to a server if you cannot sit down with them.

  • CSS for links display differently in Safari and Firefox

    Hello all,
    I am having some link display problems. The CSS code for my link display is as follows:
    #sidebar_1 a{
    text-decoration: none;
    font-weight: bold;
    #sidebar_1 a:link{
    color: #CCC;
    #sidebar_1 a:visited{
    color: #000;
    #sidebar_1 a:hover, #sidebar_1 a:active, #sidebar_1 a:focus{
    color: #000;
    Unfortunately, the website is not live yet so I can't direct you to it.
    What happens: in Firefox, mousing over a link causes it to go black; but when the link is clicked and the new page has loaded, the link goes back to being gray even though the linked page is active. However, in Safari the links for visited pages stay black. Any ideas on why this is happening?
    Thanks in advance for all your help.

    #sidebar_1 a:vistied {
    color:#000;
    is stating that all visited links in the #sidebar_1 div to be black. Are you saying that all visited links are black, outside the sidebar_1 div?

  • Uploaded CS5 swf/html files not accessable on Safari or FireFox.

    I posed the following prob. on Flash Player Forum and got the response to move it here, so here goes.
    Problem: uploaded a revised website from CS5. Orig. site was created in CS3, revised in CS4, AS2 (working on updating to AS3- but not in this revision.)
    When go to site: "Flash Player is required;" just to be safe I downloaded the most recent 10.1 "again", installed, no luck. Tried FF and Safari- same results. (History had been cleared.)
    Checked my publish requirements and tried again: no luck.
    Dropped the Player back to 9: no luck, dropped the Player back to 8: no luck.
    Pulled the revised website and installed the old one: works like a charm.
    Checked internet plugins to make sure current player is installed: it is.
    !?!?!?! What am I missing?
    I am on MacPro, 64 bit. Flash CS5- AS2. Flash Player 10.1              Thanks!

    My workaround to upload revised file....
    Opened CS5 file and saved back to CS4.
    Opened CS4 and saved back to CS3.
    Opened CS3 and published file.
    Uploaded to server and....All works!
    Don't think this is a good answer but it is the one that worked!!!!! Any suggestions?

  • Portal - Change name on a HTML file

    Hello,
    I have been asked to change the name of a HTML file displayed on the portal.  I went to 'content admin' - 'km content' - 'documents' right clicked on the content menu for the file and selected rename.  I changed the name, but it did not update on the portal.  I am assuming I need to change it somewhere else, but I am not sure where.  Please advise where to change the name

    I can't rename my printer either.
    In the case of my printer (and I suspect yours) when installing the printer as a LAN device, the printer is assigned a static IP address during the configuration process.  This is different than letting the router assign an IP and then checking the "Static Lease Type" in the router's advanced setup.
    I have a couple of other devices, a PC, a WAP, etc., where I've manually assigned them their own IP addresses.  I can't rename those devices in the router's setup either.
    Bottom line:  It seems that if a device has a static IP that is assigned to manually and outside of the Actiontec's setup, that device can't be renamed.
    If your printer was actually assigned its IP address by the router's DHCP, I'm stumped.

  • Bookmarks.html Renders Very Differently in FireFox 4

    For years, I have been using and loving Firefox (including 4.0).
    For years, I have also exported my bookmarks out of Firefox and use the resulting bookmarks.html file as my home page.
    Now Firefox 4 renders the bookmarks.html file very differently from previous versions of Firefox and also differently from other browsers (eg, IE).
    The indentations have disappeared when viewing bookmarks.html in Firefox 4. Unfortunately, it's not really easy to show you this inside this forum text box, but I will try.
    Firefox 4 shows something like this:
    '''Bookmarks Menu'''
    '''General Interest'''
    Markham Weather Forecast - Environment Canada
    The Weather Network - Markham
    The Weather Channel - Markham
    AccuWeather.com - Canadian Forecast Center
    ... etc
    Firefox 3.6, IE, and other browsers show something like this (note the indentations which greatly improve readability):
    '''Bookmarks Menu'''
    '''General Interest'''
    Markham Weather Forecast - Environment Canada
    The Weather Network - Markham
    The Weather Channel - Markham
    AccuWeather.com - Canadian Forecast Center
    ... etc
    Is this a bug in Firefox 4?? I would really like to see bookmarks.html rendered with the indentations.
    Am I missing something?
    Thanks.

    '''Cor-el''' - is there a way that can be added to the bookmarks.html file, instead of having to click on a bookmarklet each time the page is opened?
