HTML format only for websites, mountain lion

I recently upgraded my girlfriends MacBook Pro 13 inch Early 2011 to mountain lion. Upon the update, everything works except the browsers and the app store. No thumbnails or icons of any sort can be displayed. Websites are displayed in HTML. And when i try to update from the app store, which also looks crazy, i have the attached error returned to me:

Well,
Solution found. My apologies to Apple. The problem of failing httpd was due to the fact that I had changed the SSH default port from 22 to 443. This was not done in a brutal way, but as recommended in the relevant posts that can be easily googled (New .plist file, new service in /etc/services launchctl load etc).
The fact that SSH was listening to the 443 port caused apparently a conflict with Apple's server httpd implementation.
There is a router in between that can forward ports. This router was re-programmed to forward port 443 from the internet to port 22. After a few restarts the SSH and Websites seem to function flawlessly.
Just for info, this is our second router used mostly for testing and back office development. Our productive router is directly connected to the internet, running firewall etc.
My advice is the following: Apple servers work! Just install a router that does the correct port forwarding according to your needs and leave the server alone, as designed by Apple.
Thanks for viewing the issue so far.
D.
P.S. The SSH port conflict with SSL was suspected from the beginning. It's because apache ctl -k start worked (in the wrong directory) that made things complex.

  • Idea for a Mountain Lion poster.

I have just finished a very detailed painting of a mountain lion and, although it was not originally intended for the purpose, I was wondering if it could be used for a promotional poster for the Mountain Lion operating system. It is just a thought but It works great with the OS X Mountain Lion logo superimposed on it and it looks as if it was designed specifically as a poster.
How would one present such an idea to Apple?
I have attached a small copy of the art as I see it with the logo included.Of course I could also sell it just as a poster without the logo too if this idea is not the way to go.

Nice, but Apple will not accept unsolicited ideas, not for products nor for marketing ideas.

  • HT204266 I need a receipt for OS Mountain Lion. I can't find the email thats supposed to be sent automatically

I need a receipt for OS Mountain Lion for my workplace. I can't find the email that's supposed to be sent automatically. Any suggestions ?

If you just purchased Mountain Lion, wait a couple of days. It sometimes takes that long for the receipt to arrive. Also check any anti-spam filters on your email application or email account to make sure that messages from Apple aren't being blocked.
If no receipt shows up within a couple of days, you can ask your company if a screen print of the order information from the Purchase History, which should be available through iTunes by viewing your account, would be sufficient. If not, you can contact Mac App Store Customer Service and ask if they can resend the receipt.
    Regards.

  • Apple makes you WORK HARD for your Mountain Lion upgrade

Mountain Lion was launched on 25th July. I bought a new Macbook Air on 11th July, with the promised upgrade. I did not realise that Apple was going to make me work so hard to get the upgrade, which I still don't have up till now. Lesson learnt - next time, I should wait till the launch of a new OS to get the new OS rather than wait for an upgrade.
The waiting time would mean I'll get a new computer with the OS installed at the same time as I would have if I had ordered it on 25th July, without the work.
My note to Apple feedback below posted for everyone's benefit, seeing that Apple states they don't respond to the feedback they receive.
---- Note to Apple feedback ---
I had to use my Apple ID to create an account and order a new MacBook Air, which I did on 11th July. I received the item and waited for the Mountain Lion upgrade which is promised as free.
I did not realise that Apple was going to make me work to get the upgrade. It would have been easier to just wait for the upgrade before buying your product.
Why is it necessary to go through such a convulated application process to get the mountain lion upgrade?
Why is Apple asking for information such as what I ordered (which qualifies for the upgrade), if it is in my Apple ID account and you already knew that 10.8 would be available on 25th July?
Why do I need to re-submit my hardcopy order chit (which by the way, was disposed upon receipt of the Macbook)and other documentation to prove my purchase?
This has inconveinced me greatly as I had to find a scanner to scan the document for submission.
This seems a rather antiquated and bureaucractic process for a company which is supposed to be on the technological edge, and which is delivering the OS to me using MY DATA PLAN and not providing me any hardcopies to justify the additional work required on my part.
So far, I have wasted 1 hour to make the claim ... and now I am told I have to wait at least 72hours to get the key, at which point it will probably take me another few hours to install the OS.
Which also means that I will also be receiving the new OSX at least 5 days after its launch - as late as it would have been if I had just waited till 25th July to order the mac.
    Kindly review your processes.

I decided to make a second application last night with the invoice printed from the online store just in-case the first set was rejected.
Well, this morning - both claims came back rejected. The first one on the basis the scan was not clear (huh ?) ... and the second because my mid-2012 (july) Macbook 13" air does not qualify for the upgrade. huh ??
I called the help line and they are as puzzled ... so they said they will escalate it. From what they can see in the system, it should have gone through. Given its now the weekend, it will be another 3 days of delay at the least.
It's almost as if they have created mounds of bureaucracy for nothing, to make their customers jump through hoops.
I really should have stuck to ordering it with 10.8 installed... it was just waiting another week. Big regret.
Now I am stuck in an endless array of form submissions, online forms, talking to Apple support ... waiting ... waiting ... waiting. ..

I have paid for the Mountain Lion. But for some reason, I cannot seem to download it, despite software being upgraded. Anyone facing this problem where the download does not begin? How can I solve this?

Make sure your Mac qualifies to run Mountain Lion >  Apple - Upgrade your Mac to OS X Mountain Lion.
Try disabling anti virus software and turn off the Firewall in System Preferencs > Security & Privacy
Apps such as Little Snitch and Net Nanny can prevent apps from downloading from the App store including Mountain Lion.
Third party download managers are not compatible with the App Store.
Keep in mind, for downloading Mountain Lion from the App Store, a high speed (broadband) internet connection is strongly recommended by Apple as noted here > iTUNES STORE - MAC APP STORE - TERMS AND CONDITIONS
If you need to reinstall OS X or repair the the startup disk using Mountain Lion Recovery, that requires broadband access to the internet via Wi-Fi or an Ethernet connection. OS X is downloaded over the internet form Apple when OS X Recovery is used for reinstallation.

  • HTML not reading correctly after Mountain Lion Update

Since I updated to Mountain Lion I am getting a consistent symbol in place of HTML on Safari and Mail ( the 'A' in a box. see the attached image). Firefox works much better than Safari but it still appears, although a lot less.  I haven't found anything about this anywhere I've looked. Anyone have an idea on a fix?

Hi no real idea on this, but many Network connectivity issues have been solved by this...
Make a New Location, Using network locations in Mac OS X ...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2712
    10.7…
System Preferences>Network, top of window>Locations>Edit Locations, little plus icon, give it a name.
    10.5.x/10.6.x/10.7.x instructions...
System Preferences>Network, click on the little gear at the bottom next to the + & - icons, (unlock lock first if locked), choose Set Service Order.
The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.
Instead of joining your Network from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed.
For 10.5/10.6, System Preferences>Network, unlock the lock if need be, highlight the Interface you use to connect to Internet, click on the advanced button, click on the DNS tab, click on the little plus icon, then add these numbers...
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
    Click OK.
    Also, turn off IPv6:
    System Preferences » Network » AirPort » TCP/IP tab » Configure IPv6
    Or whatever Interface you use.

  • HT1822 I don't find any application för Server Admin for my Mountain Lion at Mac app store as stated in the information. Where can I find it?

Where can I find Server Admin after installing Mountain Lion? I can not find it on the store or anywhere? Please help, I need it to connect to my server from my other mac's, in order to administrate without logging in to the server.

If you want the new OS X Server (Mountain Lion) look for "OS X Server" in the App Store.
Server Admin no longer exists for OS X Server - the main functionality like Mail service and Open Directory has been simplified and integrated within the new server app.
The optional Server Admin add-on for Lion was only available from the Apple support site, not from the App store.

  • Is there anywhere I can still get a copy of Final Cut X for OS Mountain Lion?

I have an early 2008 Mac Pro.
Since I upgraded to Maverick's, my computer has become painfully slow and started randomly restarting.
I rolled back to Mountain Lion but when I tried to Download FCX from the app store, it would only let me download a version for Mavericks.
Is it possible to still get a Mountain Lion version of FCX somewhere?

Lion won't work but Mountain Lion should give you access to 10.0.9 on the App Store.

  • HT3669 Phaser Tektronix/Xerox 780 - Does anyone know of any drivers for mac mountain lion?

I have updated to mountain lion and the Phaser 780 no longer works? It just says timed ou, can any one help?
    Thanks.

As far as I can tell, that printer uses postscript. The only piece of a driver you need is the PPD file that tells the printing system about the specs of the printer.
You should be able to print by selecting Generic postscript as driver. Try that for troubleshooting.
Lots of people find that they need to delete and re-add the printer, or Reset Printing System, to get printing to work after upgrading.

  • Internet Recovery - can only recover to Mountain Lion?

I'm trying to re-install OS X onto my MacBook Pro, but I'm currently in somewhat of a catch-22 situation.
I've used Internet Recovery to bring up a recovery-console type thing which has an option to install OS-X - great, the trouble is that it wants to install OS X 10.8 - Mountain Lion, and, since I haven't bought that version, I don't have a licence so it correctly realises this, and stops me trying to install it.
Now, the catch 22 appears. I can't purchase Mountain Lion, since the only way to do this appears to be from the App store, and I don't have a working Mac. I don't have a working Mac since I can't install Mountain Lion!
So, is there a way to use Intenet Recovery to install Lion (which I *do* have a licence for), or to purchase Mountain Lion without using the app-store?
[For the purposes of this discussion, assume that I don't have access to another OS X computer, or my original install DVDs (they're about 150 km away!). I also rather install Lion for the moment if possible, rather than paying for the upgrade.]

    NeoAnjou wrote:
Thank you, but I'm not a fool - when you choose the install option you get an image of a mountain lion, it says 'Installing 10.8 Montain Lion', and when I have entered my apple-account details it says 'the account was not used to purchase Montain Lion' ... so that seems pretty conclusive to me!
I'm not entirely sure what version of the MacBook I have since I bought it reconditioned, but it pre-dates Lion, and I upgraded to that version after release. It's probably an early 2011 model.
You bought it Reconditioned from where? From Apple or from some other Mac sales farm?
If it Pre-Dates Lion then it should of come with 2 Reinstall DVDs, one for the OS (Snow Leopard) and one for the included iLife Applications. Did it come with those DVDs?
What version of OS X was installed on it when you got it? Was it Snow Leopard?
Why are you trying to use Internet Recovery? Actually Internet Recovery is for Mac's that originally came with one of the 2 Download Only version of OS X, Lion and Mt Lion, even though some older models, early 2011 and some 2010 models, can access it.
You can always use the Built in Recovery HD partition, that is if you still have one on your internal drive, to Reinstall the current version of the download only version of OS X. In your case that would be Lion.
If your Mac Pre-Dates Lion and you don't have the original reinstall DVDs then you need to contact Apple and get them. As if and when you ever want to sell or give that Mac away you MUST reinstall that version of OS X on that Mac. You can not sell or give it away with one of the download only version of OS X as those would be tied to YOUR Apple ID.
I have a Mac that came with Lion Pre-Installed and have upgraded to Mt Lion. I am going to do a check on my system to see what version of OS X is installed using Internet Recovery. For my system it should be Lion even though I have upgraded to ML.
For you and your system to reinstall Lion you would need to use the built in Recovery HD partition or use a USB thumb drive that you created with Lion or that you used the Lion Recovery Disk Asssistant program to copy the Lion Recovery HD partition to.
Or first reinstall Snow Leopard, the original OS that came on your Mac, and then use the Mac App Store to upgrade to Lion again.

  • Bought iMovie '11 for a Mountain Lion iMac and want iMovie '11 for snow Leopard MacBook but it won't download for Macbook?

    Hello:
I have an iMac that I recently upgraded to Mountain Lion.  I bought iMovie '11 after upgrading to Mountain Lion.  I also have a MacBook Pro but don't want to upgrade to Mountian Lion 'cause I don't want to loose Front Row.  So I tried to buy and install iMovie from the App Store on the MacBook Pro (Snow Leopard) but when I try to buy it it says that I can't buy it or run on on Snow Leopard it must be on Mountain Lion?  Is there any way to get the down version of iMovie '11 for Snow Leopard from the App Store?  I already paid for this version online.
    Thanks,
    mn3

My guess is that you are out of luck. The latest requirements for iMovie '11, as listed on the App Store, are "OS X 10.7.4 or later". In other words, iMovie '11 (in it's latest iteration) will work only on Lion or Mountain Lion (or later).
My wife's iMac is on Snow Leopard OS X 10.6.8 and is running iMovie '11 version 9.0.4. Checking for updates returns the message that iMovie is up to date. So it appears that the last version to run on Snow Leopard is 9.0.4 - hence why you can't download 9.0.8 to Snow Leopard from the App Store. Perhaps you can purchase a boxed version of iLife '11 somewhere (possibly eBay) that has an earlier version of iMovie '11.

  • What to do if you lost apple claim reference number for downloading Mountain Lion

Okay, So I just registered my Macbook pro for Apple's Up-to-date program that lets you upgrade to mountain lion if you bought a Mac starting june 11.. So i registered my macbook pro and i forgot to copy the Claim reference number that they give you.. What do you all suggest i do?

Been waiting 6 hours now, still no email after submitting the form for my retina MBP.  You'd think at least the MBP with retina would be a quick confirmation, since they didn't exist before the eligibility period for getting a free Mountain Lion update....
Getting rather frustrated here.  I took today off to deal with the upgrade and potential clean install so I'd have it up and running before returning to work tomorrow.  And I've had absolutely NOTHING from apple yet...
