HTML in EMAIL templates

Hi Everyone,
I am trying to embed HTML in an email template. Here is what I am trying to do.
Google
I would like it to appear as Google but it appears as Google <http://www.google.com>
Any ideas?

I just figured out why the text appears that way. It is because the email client was setup to view email in Rich Text instead of HTML

I would like to design my own templates and instantly insert the right tags and so, so that I can import the templates to websites like Campaign Monitor and my clients can open templates when sending new mailsings.
The goal is to have my own designed templates for my clients with their layouts which they can use for their mailings. Also extending the newsletter (adding new article fields) should be possible etc.
Can you tell me what codes I need and what I should pay attention to in order to design nice templates that will appear correctly in nearly each mailbox?

HTML Link in Email template

We are trying to pull the service ID into an existing link in an email template.
We want to include the service ID in an email to an existing link that takes the customer to another place. We want to pull the service.serviceid and place it at the end of the existing link. Has anyone worked with this at all?

Thanks Craig. I can pull the service id into the email template using #Service.ServiceID#, but I can't get it to be at the end of the link to the site I want to send the user to. Example: I want to send someone to http://test.com/test/default.asp?Service = "this is where I need to pull in the service ID, so that it will be part of the link the customer will select.

Problem with links on email templates

We have been having issues with links on our email templates. Some of the links point to the following URL:

Sometimes we get “Unknown internal error” on the web page.
Can anyone help or advise on how to resolve this issue?

Hi Wesley,
This is rather late, but we've seen the same thing frequently (and I believe can replicate it). It's caused when you a creating a new email by copying the content of an existing one with a name space in it.
Upon copying, the link gets scrambled. The approach we use is to copy the email in to a new template, then strip out all of the URL links and add them back in.

Why does my email template appear differently in various email programs?

I have created a CSS-style based email template using Dreamweaver CS6. The template looks great within Dreamweaver, on Internet Explorer and in Outlook 2003. However, when viewed in Outlook 2010, Hotmail and Gmail, the template is distorted. If I set my containers using pixel size, why would it be different when viewed in other email programs?

The boilerplate is good for reference but in my opinion is overkill for most email campaigns. It does a good job of highlighting why they do certain things though.

Email Template

Hi,
I have a new requirement that the standard text mail should be sent out as an HTML Email.
I was thinking of a HTML template which would have "customized tags" which I can replace at run time based on the data from some datasource.
The Email Template should look like:
Dear {FirstName} {LastName},

{Section2}

The tags between '{}' would be replaced dynamically based on the database values. I have the existsing program running within an EJB. I need to store the HTML content in some place [preferablly deployment descriptors] and then lookup at the information at run time, replace and send email. I am not able to have HTML characters within ejb-jar.xml.
This is one idea. I also though of having a properties file or a local system file to get the data. I am not convinced with these ideas.
Are there any other better approach for this situation?

Custom Alert Email Templates Issue - List Alerts emails not using customized XML alert template

I have recently customized the XML alerts template (AlertTemplates.xml) for our site collection in SharePoint 2010 to exclude specific fields in the email when users who have subscribed to a list using the "Alert Me" feature. I
have renamed the custom alerts XML file and loaded the custom template in the following directory (%ProgramFiles%\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web server extensions\14\TEMPLATE\XML) and
restarted IIS. Once users subscribe to the alerts using the list using the "alert me" function they received the customized email as intended.
We needed to auto-subscribe users to the email alerts so what I did was used a powershell script to add users to the alert subscriptions using the script shown in below:

When I ran the script and added the users and restarted the service, all users who were auto-subscribed via this method would get the email without the customizations that were done in the custom template. All users who manually subscribed to the list
using the "Alert Me" function would get the customized email.
Does anyone know why users who manually subscribe would get the custom email alert and why users who were auto-subscribed using the powershell script do not get the custom email alert?

According to your description, my understanding is that users who were auto-subscribed using the PowerShell script do not get the custom email alert.
For your issue, it can be caused by the auto-subscribed alert email which is generated by PowerShell script is using OOTB alert template. You can add the following script into your script for setting
the alerts’ alert email template:

Email bursting send report as HTML in email body

Hello,
I have Oracle BI Publisher 10.1.3.4.1 (build# 1101) version installed as part of Oracle Business Inteligence.
I have question about email bursting. I created simple report and I am bursting it via email. But I would like to send report in HTML as part of email body and not as attachment. I read that it is possible in other versions of BIP (as part of EBS) with using of bursting configuration file. But I can not use this file with my version of BIP, I can configure bursting only vie SQL query.
Is there any solution?

This report when bursted sends an email with the layout template as html body.
The EMAIL configuration is set with a server Port number and its host address.

Email templates using data from iWork Numbers spreadsheet

As a photographer, when I get a call from a client to book a shoot, my first step is to open my bookings spreadsheet in Apple's Numbers and input the client's info into pre-determined columns: name, phone number, job date, job scheduled arrival time, job address, job city, travel distance, details regarding the shoot, and then I have a list of columns that specify costs (cost for work, taxes, travel, etc--automatically calculated via functions in spreadsheet).
Immediately after I insert this information into the bookings spreadsheet, I open another file (a text file)--a text template I created to confirm bookings--and fill in the blanks using the information from the spreadsheet. Once that info has been filled out, I copy and paste the entire text file into an an email and email it to the client for his confirmation/records. The email template text (txt) file I use is included below.
Question: Is it possible to create a script that will read the specified row in my Numbers booking spreadsheet (ie, the row where I input the information in the spreadsheet) and have the information inserted into the separate text confirmation template (apple pages or text or email?) at specified areas within the text? I've tried to change the "Template.txt" file into an rtf so that I can apply bolding and underlining to certain sections (ie, bolding to the entries like client_name, job_date, etc... and underlining to the "Steps"), and I changed the script from Template.txt to Template.rtf to reflect this change... but when I run a script I get a bug... is there any way to use an rtf file in place of the txt?

Then I exported this template to the FIM Portal server, in the "Email Template" administration section on the Portal.
Where must I put the image to allow FIM to link it? Which attribute have I to modify with the correct path (src?)? And how?
Can you provide me some examples of the correct form of the path attribute?

The problem with using "cid" for embedded images is that the email message needs to be formatted differently. You don't have control over the header, mime type and other aspects that need to be defined to include and reference a "cid image" in the message
body.
First, the message header will need to have the following fields:

Since this would already require you to know the underlying mime type of the image, you already need to have the image data converted to Base64 encoding, and you don't have any control over the headers of an email template in FIM... you would need to write

GP: Replacements (parameter) in email templates

Hi,
I have created an email template to send a notification. Into this email I want to add several parameters (which should be done via replacement ?). But neither from the documenation nor by trying I can get these replacements show up. Right now my email template looks like this

The last name shows up, but the reason does not. The collable object of type "Notification" has a input parameter "reason" but it doesn't work. I also tried "writeln (input.reason)" and "writeln (co.reason)" but it didn't work either. How do I have to name the input parameter and the replacements to get this work?

Email Template Help

Hey everyone. I've search for a long while about this topic but didn't find an answer, so here goes:
I'm creating my own custom emai template to be used in Outlook 2003. I've created 3 tables all of the same width. One as a header (with an image centered) another as the body and the last as a footer with a custom signature and 2 graphics linked to my FB & Twitter pages. I'm almost completed but there are two nagging problems:
1. I can't figure out how to format the "body" table with single line spacing. (remember I want this field to be blank until text is added when an email is written). Everytime I save the .html file and open it in Outlook it reverts to double spacing. I know this can be done because all of the standard Outlook stationary html files use single spacing.
2. I'd like the 2 bottom graphics to be immeadiately underneath the signature. As it is the graphics are a few lines below and I can't get them to move up without affecting the signature text.

Add some inline css (style="margin: 0; padding: 0;") to the tag that your images are insert in: (see below)

OIA Email Template

I'm trying to create a custom email in Oracle identity analytics. As far I understand, it seems to be there a restriction in OIA
a) You can't use any variable outside from the pre-defined 35 variables of OIA.
Is my understanding rite?
If so then can we atleast deploy a Java class in OIA, wherein using Java mail i would send a custom email.
The reason I'm asking this is that, i need to send a email to BMC, in turn BMC would read this email and create a ticket.
If anyone has faced this similar kind of situtation or could share you suggestion, it would be really appreciated.

An easy way is to open one of the existing templates from the
Outlook/Stationery folder and modify to your liking and save
as a different
name.
You can easily create your own stationery using standard
HTML. If you use
styles, I find it's best to keep in line. Make all of your
graphics
absolute referenced (
http://www.yoursite.com/imagename.jpg)
and keep the
design simple. Keep in mind, too, not everyone can (or wants)
to receive
HTML email.

From what I know you can not add the information from another relationship other than the parent WorkItem. So the RA is a Relationship to CR - but within CR you have another relationship to the Affected CI and this is from what I know not possible.

Help! InDesign file to HTML for email

Yes, I know, I do everything with InDesign and have successfully for years. When I had to design an email blast, I designed it in InDesign, and sent it to a company to convert it to html for me, and then they sent it out with our list as a blast.
My new company, does everything internally, and wants me to do a email blast, and they're real cheap on sending anything to a vendor for help. I don't work at all in DreamWeaver, and know nothing about html.
Is there any 'easy' way to take a document in Indesign and get it into html, or something suitable for an email blast????? Or save it in such a way, it can be brought into Constant Contact????? Arghhhhhhh......

The best advice I can give you is to use Constant Contacts free HTML email templates: http://www.constantcontact.com/email-marketing/html-email-templates/index.jsp
These templates are easy enough to edit and have a foundation already set for email clients. Typically they will be constructed in tables with inline CSS. Constant Contact also have basic templates without any design: http://www.constantcontact.com/email-marketing/html-email-templates/basic.jsp
Using InDesign for this job is really not the way to go. In fact, using any graphic application other than an HTML editor is only going to give you a headache. If this is going to become a regular thing in your job, start learning HTML and make your life that little bit easier. There are a vast amount of resources available online to help you get the basics down.
