HTML output with CrystalReports Server 2008

Hi there,
I am thinking of evaluating the Crytsal Reports Server 2008. But basically, I just have one question about it:
- How does the HTML output of the Crystal Reports Server look like? Can it be directly shown in a browser window?
- Does the Crystal Reports Server offer a viewer such as the JRC? Does ther viewer also only run in a servlet or can it also be included in a web service?

With the Web Service SDK, you will need to have Crystal Reports Server running to use it.
Both the JRC and the Web Service SDK allow you to render reports in HTML; the JRC uses a built in viewer object to render the report in a web browser, whereas with the WS SDK you need to create your own viewer.
In terms of the functionality they both employ, the Web Service SDK is very similar in nature to the Enterprise SDK and in fact uses the Enterprise SDK to perform many of its tasks, the difference being of course that requests are passed in the form of a web service to the server. Enterprise SDK uses "managed reporting" (opens reports from the CMS database), and the JRC uses unmanaged reporting (opens reports from the file system).
The [Developer Library|https://boc.sdn.sap.com/developer/library] is a good resource for finding tutorials and information about the SDK's available with Business Objects products.

RH Server 9 compatibility with Windows Server 2008 SP2/SQL Server

Our tech support people are preparing for a first install of RH Server 9. They have asked me to find out whether there is a recent patch that would enable it to work with Windows Server 2008 SP2 64 bit and MS SQL Server 2008.
If there is not yet a patch, will there be one for this OS/DB combination in the future, and when?
This is in reference to the knowledgebase article at http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/884/cpsid_88483.html which gives a "not recommended" status to this combination.
Our infrastructure team would prefer to use this combination if it is possible.
Second question from the tech team: Do we need to separate the RoboHelp application from the database or can they both reside on the same server?

To answer your first question, no there is no patch to allow SQL Server 2008 to run on a 64 bit server. To answer your second question, I don't know. This is a user to user forum and therefore we are not party to any discussions on when or if a patch will be released. Crystal Reports 10 Compatibility with Windows Server 2008 R2

Hello I'm a developer and I'm in the process of migrating my ASP.NET application that uses crystal reports 10 from a win2k3 server to a win2k8 R2 server.
First of all, is CR 10 compatible with windows server 2008 R2?
The application is up and running on the new server, the only thing that fails is the reports. I get the following error message:
Error in file ....c:\windows\temp\{TEMP_FILE_NAME}.rtp
Failed to create the Crystal Query Engine.
This occurs at report.load(..)
I did already grant NETWORK SERVICE access to Temp and ran the CR redistribute msi that came with Visual Studio 2008 - CRRedist2008_x64.msi.

YESSSS!!!! IT WORKS!!
Finally, after days of installing, uninstalling, setting permissions, crawling through process monitor output.. I finally have it working.
For anyone with the same problem, here's what worked for me:
I had to use the 32-bit runtime
set application pool to 32-bit
grant the following permissions based on the different errors listed below:
Error in File UNKNOWN.RPT
- Give NETWORK SERVICE list permission on C: Drive, run a report, then remove NETWORK SERVICE from the list (weird, but works, and I had to do this every single time I setup Crystal Reports on a new computer so far).
- You might also have to set correct permission on 'Temp' if u get still get this error.
Error in file ....c:\windows\temp.rtp
Failed to create the Crystal Query Engine
- Grant correct permission to C:\Program Files (x86)\Business Objects (your path may vary)
(For me it was giving Users Modify permission to Business Objects folder)
Unknown Query Engine ErrorError in File C:\Windows\TEMP\.rpt:
Unknown Query Engine Error
- Switch application pool to 32-bit.
- Make sure Crystal Reports Runtime is 32-bit (CRRedist2008_x86.msi)

DI Server with SQL Server 2008

Hello.
In the company where I work we develop an application that uses B1WS.
In the development environment had the following characteristics:
SAP Business One 2007 SP01, PL 09
SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition
Windows XP Professional SP 3
SAP Business One Web Services 1.0
At the time we applied to the deploying the SAP Business One version 8.8, but I had a serious problem. The test environment has the following characteristics:
SQL Server 2008 Enterprise Edition
SAP Busines One 8.8 * PL 10
Windows Server 2008
The problem is that when trying to connect to the DI Server generates the following messages:
The TAO NT Naming Service has stopped. (WithOut DBUser and DBPassword)
Unable to access SBO-Common database Login (With DBUser and DBPassword)
I tested the connection directly to the DI Server disponbile by example in the SDK and it generates the same error. For the SAP interface is connected correctly.

Had the same error
'The TAO NT Naming Service has stopped.'
Was using the external IP address for the LicenceServer - which is on the same server as SAP DIserver and B1WS.
I changed to using localhost:30000 and that solved the issue.
I suspect if I had used the internal IP it would have worked as well (ie the one you get from ipconfig) but as it works I'm not going to test that.

Steps to reproduce the crash: compile program with Visual Studio 2010 as 64-bit console application; run it and select a 64-bit SQL Server DSN.
If the crash does not occur, try using the "AllocationPreference" registry entry set to 0x100000 (see https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/Dn613975%28v=vs.85%29.aspx for details); don't forget to reboot Windows. This registry

Personally, I don’t believe SQL 2008 R2 with ADMT 3.2 is supported. From the guidelines of install the Active Directory Migration Tool (ADMT), ADMT v3.2 requires a preconfigured instance of SQL Server for its underlying data store. We
should use SQL Server Express and install ADMT v3.2 on a member server. ADMT installation enforces the following service pack requirements:
• SQL Server 2005 Express must be installed with Service Pack 3 (SP3) or later.
• SQL Server 2008 Express must be installed with Service Pack 1 (SP1) or later.
If you use full versions of SQL Server 2005 or SQL Server 2008. In this case, you need to install and run the ADMT console on a remote computer, and you can run multiple ADMT consoles on different remote computers. If
you use a full version of SQL Server, ADMT installation does not enforce any service pack requirements.

DeadLocks on Query Notifications with SQL Server 2008 SP3

according to this article https://support.microsoft.com/kb/975090 the issue with deadlocks on query notifications should be fixed with SQL Server 2008 SP3 (10.0.5500.0). But we still get deadlocks in the following manner:

SQL Server 2008 SP4 and all cumulative updates of SP3 do not have fixes related to deadlocks.
Maybe the following workarounds and solutions can help in your scenario.

Deadlock Prevention. In case you need to lock multiple conversation groups in a transaction, you need to take the same order to lock the different conversation groups in all transactions, otherwise you will have a deadlock issues.

Add does not run with sql server 2008

Hi all,
My add on in the development environment does not run with SQL SERVER 2008. It ran well with SQL Server 2005 and sap b1 2207 B.
On executing the project file system throws an error "YOU ARE NOT CONNECTED TO THE COMPANY"
we are trying this scenario on a test machine where SAP B1 2007B with temporary license for one month and SQL server 2008
is installed.
Help needed.

This is not the issue at all. I can open the management studio by the same login id and password and also i can make the database jdbc connection from plain java file.
It does not give me any problem by them.
I'm unable to find the actual problem. May be i'm missing something in connection pooling.

Don't forget that ODI 10g has a bug in predefined connection string for SQL Server, and you'll need to check\correct it. We use ODI with SQL Server 2008, and everything is ok.

BI 7.3 delta extraction with SQL Server 2008

Hi experts,
I'm trying to extract data with delta update from a SQL Server with UD Connect, i test this ways:
Field DateTime in SQL Server: The problem is I only can delta within a day, no changes detected in the same day because SAP detects two fields here date and time, and can only can reference date field as a delta field.
Field TimesTamp in SQL Server: The problem seems the same, SAP recognize this as a date and time field.
Can any explain here the correct way for a delta implementation with SQL Server 2008? I would be very grateful.

That is what I need to do.
Create a Model from an existing SQL Server database with the Import data Dictionary option , be able to modify tables structures, extended properties in the model, and then sync those changes with the database.
So far I can't import the extended properties with DM 3.1.1. If you find a way , please let me know.

The version of Report Builder on SQL Server Reporting Service (SSRS) 2012 is Report Builder 3.0. The Report Builder 3.0 manufactures 2010 RDL reports, so it only works with the version of SQL Server 2008 R2 or later. So in your scenario, we can no connect
to SQL Server 2008 Server using Report Builder that on SSRS 2012.

I disagree. Visual FoxPro 9.0 is compatible
withWindowsServer
2008R2. VFP datafiles can sit on WS2008R2 and VFP 9 itself can run on the server.

Dear Folks,
I would like to ask you about this thing. I'm working for IT department for bank in Myanmar. Our bank have up to 96 branches across all of Myanmar including H.O. We are using Microsoft SQL Server 2005 with Windows Server 2008 for our banking
information system. My main problem is having to backup and restore the database backup files every time the servers in branches goes down for whatever reasons. I want to deploy this feature of high availability and failover cluster using Windows Server 2008
and SQL Server 2005. Our branches have 2 Servers. One is for Primary and other is for Backup. What I want to do is that, I want to change Backup Server to Primary Server whenever the Primary Server goes down for whatever reasons. All the working data and databases
from Primary will immediately replicated into Backup Server along with all the IP information of Primary Server. Please give me step by step guide for this process.

I will recommend you to upgrade SQL server to newer version for support as well as flexibility.

here in sp 2013 i upgraded sp 2010 BI site and when i open dashboard pages they not display the pointers.
and when i open dashboard designer i was unable to connect Analysis server 2008 R2 where data source exists

1) here i migrated a Publishing web applications and bi sites to 2013 sucessfully, this site is enable anonymous access
2) Installed SQLSERVER2008_ASADOMD10
3) added performance point service application pool account as a db_owner and data read access permission to content database and added permission to unattended service account to SSAS server .
3) and after i was able to connect to SSAS data soruces.
here when i open dashboards with administrator user , this user able to view dashboards
but when external user able to view dashboards it asking authentication and throws error.
