HTML pages won't display

I've never used Coldfusion and I'm not a web devleoper, I'm a
server admin but I've been tasked with figuring out our problem.
I've been searching all morning and I can't seem to find anything
so I thougt I would post up. Here's what we have. A windows 2003
server with IIS and Coldfusion MX7. We're hosting several web sites
with no issues. Today, one of the web sites will no longer display
.html pages. I've checked all the other sites and html pages are
fine, just this one site. The web dev guys tell me they installed a
java update yesterday to the server and thought that might be the
problem but I would think it would break all the sites, not just
one. I've clicked on every tab and buttion in IIS and everything I
could in the CF Admin but I can't seem to find anything that will
block / filter HMTL pages for that one site. The sever has been
rebooted several times with no luck.
Any thoughts or suggestions as to where I should go or check?
Thanks

So you are saying that the SWF *WAS* actually displaying but was somehow unable to present the text?
For others that may wonder about what TLF is (as I did) I'll save you the Google step.

  • Photo page won't display properly in safari

    Hi everyone!
I'm completely new to building websites and need some of your expert advice?
For some reason my photo pages won't display properly in Safari but ok in Firefox?
It worked fine a week ago and I can't think what I've done wrong since I republished last night?

    Can anyone help?
    I'll buy you a pint!
    Cheers

    No luck unfortunately.
I changed the background to a solid and made the changes that you suggested roddy, but neither seemed to work. I know I must be doing something wrong? Do the photos appear ok with you roddy? All I see, is half the page i.e nav bar, top image, 'the house & garden etc text and top half of the darker box where the thumbnails should appear. And this happens with all 3 photo pages currently on the site.

I've been clearing my cache in both browsers every time I republish.
I've also tried upgrading to the new 3.0.3 beta Safari? You'd think - out of all the browsers- iWeb would work seamlessly with Safari wouldn't you? - Firefox is fine.
Do you think I should start from scratch?

  • Template page won't display on the web.

One of my web pages was saved as a template and won't display graphics when uploaded, just code.  It has the extension dwt.  I thought probably what I should do is make
an html page copy and use that.  I don't know how that is done, or if that would be the best solution.  Any help would be appreciated.

You should never publish your Template.dwt file to the web except to have as a backup in case your Template ever becomes corrupted or lost.
Templates are a proprietary DW file type used to create the rest of your site pages.  Go to File > New Page from Template.  Select your .dwt file and hit create.   The resulting new page is a child page based on that main template.  Save as index.html (your home page).  Repeat with other site pages.
Add editable content to each of your child pages.  Everything outside Editable Regions in the template will be populated to all child pages -- very handy for site wide menus, headers, footers and sidebars.
When you edit a template, you must re-publish all child pages based on that template to your server.
For more details on the use of DW Templates, use F1 Help in DW.

  • Web page won't display

when i try to connect my laptop running on vista to the home hub 4 wirelessly it says that it is connected but it won't display any web pages saying there is a problem with the router or modem but my other laptop running on windows 7 has no problems please can anybody help??

As Keith has suggested, check that the drivers for the wireless card are up to date via the card manufacturers website, obviously you will need to do this on your other laptop and if need be download them then transfer to the Vista laptop. Also go into the hub management page and change the security from WPA and WPA2 to WPA only and see how you get on.
See link how to change hub security.

  • Html edits won't display

i am maintaining and editing a site that was originally created in iweb. the creator did not know about keeping the "domain" file so that is gone.
using Dreamweaver & BBEdit, i have added some pages to the site and all is fine with that. however, i needed to delete text on 2 html pages i did this using a text editor. when i viewed the updated html page on my hard drive it viewed correctly (removed text is no longer visible). when i load the updated html page back to the server (not mac.com) the deleted copy is still visible even though when you "view source" through the browser, the text is NOT in the html code. so i presume that the browser is not finding an older file to display. i have cleared cache, relaunched browser(s) (safari & firefox) and even rebooted the computer several times each.
    any suggestions?
oh, i also corrected a typo on a 3rd page, changing the word "from" to "form" and that correction displays properly!!
    thanks!
macbook pro   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

well...not to my knowledge. it appeared to be html code that i simply removed the unwanted entry.
what i deleted is the 2nd testimonial at this link titled "toothache" by denise ham young. let me know if you see that entry with 2 paragraphs following it. if you "view source" you will find that text is not in the source code.

  • Converting HTML Pages for Mobile Display

Is it possible to convert current HTML pages that were created in GoLive to be able to be displayed on a Mobile Device without having to start all over?

Nope. You just create a second CSS link to a handheld media type then duplicate your class names, change the properties to reflect how you want it to display on a hand held device and away you go.
So you'll have something like this in your head section...
    < LINK rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" media="handheld" href="handheld.css" >
    < LINK rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" media="print, screen" href="screen.css" >
One controls the look on your handheld one controls print and screen (which can also be separated). You name the classes the same between sheets, and change the properties to reflect how you want them to look between devices.

  • This simple html page won't render properly in Dreamweaver

I'm using DW 5.5 on a Mac (tried DW4 as well).  I have a web page (no attachments here, so I put it at http://dl.dropbox.com/u/23232804/Books.html ) which is simply a list of permanent links to Amazon.com books - I need this for my website. Oddly, I can't load it in DW's preview window to edit it - the top part loads ok but about half-way down the page, it's blank - it's like it gives up on fetching the data from Amazon, so I can't edit it in true WYSIWYG fashion like I can with any other page. What's going on here - how do I fix this?
    thanks in advance

    > Assuming what I see when I go to your link, it's a wonder that DW can display anything there.
    > This is not a valid web page - it's a collection of 520 <iframe> tags placed between two <center> tags.
this is not meant to be a stand-alone page - I was going to import this content into a bigger web page. It was created for me by someone who went through and grabbed all these Amazon links.    Firefox has no problem displaying the code as-is (and correctly); I would have thought that the DW preview could do at least as well - showing me the images and their associated images even if it's not a valid page in itself. Seamonkey displays (and edits it) just fine as well. It has a <head>, <body>, etc. - what is it missing that DW shouldn't be able to display it? All I want for this is to have a page with a bunch of "tiled" rectangles each representing a book and its link at Amazon.
    > DW is not a WYSIWYG editor. There is no such thing as a WYSIWYG HTML authoring system....
I'm not versed enough in the details to understand the distinction you're making, but DW comes pretty close, no?   It shows me how the html code will look in a browser, in a side-by-side preview pane. Clearly it doesn't work 100% of the time (as in this case), but it seems to do pretty well usually.  In any case, I concede the (no doubt subtle) point - all I want is to be able to see the page and edit it as DW allows me to do for any other page I've used with it.
    thank you,
    Mike

  • Basic html page will not display for my client!

I have built a new website for a client, and I have plonked
it in a folder on his server so that he can view it without it
being live, but when he views it from his office, the url (which is
correct) loads a page stating that the page could not be found. I
have loaded a preliminary design on a different server, and he can
see that. (Just to clarify, I have loaded it on his server because
his server will display php, my servers are windows and don't do
php, that's why it's a preliminary design on my server)
Everybody I have sent this url to can see the new site design
in the sub-folder, it even works on my iPhone, but none of his pc's
in his office can get to the page. Any ideas as to why? As a test,
the home page is currently very basic html, it simply says in h1
'Can you see this?' but still no joy.
There must be something he has on his system that stops his
network for accessing new files on his own website, but what?
    Thanks

  • My website page won't display in IE7 and goes wierd in Safari

Hi, I am working on a website( www.katecornish.co.uk ) for somebody.  In Firefox the whole website looks fine.  In IE the 'Attic 09' page (www.katecornish.co.uk/Attic09.html) does not display at all, I just get a blank page.  In Safari this same page displays but the CSS is messed up and the h1 and h2 tags are just big black font rather than the styles I created.
Can anybody help before I give up webdesign forever?
    Thanks in advance!
    Kate.

Start by fixing your code validation errors.  Mostly caused by mismatched code closures and a missing lightbox file.

  • Pages won't display only in Firefox, even in safe mode (I can see requests and replies coming back but it seems like the page rendering cancels).

I have tried safe mode, all the options outlined here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-cant-load-websites-other-browsers-can
This doesn't seem to be related to any particular site. When I try to access a web server running locally on my machine, I can see that the request is sent and the server responds as well. But the page will not render.
    What I'm trying to do:
    1. Open firefox, navigate somewhere (works)
    2. Browse around
    3. Seemingly at random, when clicking a link, it will stay in the state a:active and the new address will be displayed in the address bar, but page content will not be rendered (link still active, as I was holding the mouse button on it)
One site that it happens with, is http://fortumo.com
happens in safe mode, with or without addons and doesn't seem to be affected by the theme either.

Anything unusual if you check the Net log or the Network tab in the Web Console (Firefox/Tools > Web Developer;Ctrl+Shift+K)?

Note that you need to reload the page (F5 or Ctrl+F5) to create/update the log.

  • .cfm pages won't display on CF10 on Windows server 2008

I have a new VPS setup that has CF10 running on a Windows 2008 box.  My site is setup in IIS and I can navigate to any root folder in browser.  That's because the root folder(s) recognizes index.cfm as a default page.  However, any time I click a link or manually enter a URL string that contains ".cfm" (even on index.cfm pages that display without the actual full path written out) it throws a 404 error.  Has anyone else run into this?  I know the site is running correctly because like I said, if you enter the following URL: http://www.kyndoutdoors.com/ it will display correctly.  However, if you enter http://www.kyndoutdoors.com/index.cfm it will error.  HELP!

The wildcard handler handles urls without filenames (http://www.kyndoutdoors.com/), and that appears to be working.  However, the specific IIS handler mappings for "*.cfm" does not appear to be.  You might try using the ColdFusion Web Server Configuration Tool (WSConfig) to remove the IIS connectors (then restart IIS), and then re-add the connectors.
Another thought: were your IIS sites added to IIS after ColdFusion was installed and configured for IIS?  If so, the connectors appear to not be propogating forward for new sites.  I've seen this behavior before with ColdFusion 9 and IIS 7.5, but CF10 seems to handle this better.  Again, removing and re-adding the connectors seems to resolve these situations for me.
    EDIT:
Hmmm. 404 errror actually makes me think this may be a file permissions issue.  What account is the ColdFusion service running as?  Make sure that account has permissions to the folder containing your website(s).
