HTML printing in Labview running Sun Solaris

We are creating html test data files in labview and would like to print them on the Sun Solaris. Labview for Solaris can print the files but just prints the source code (doesn't format the code into nice tables, etc). You can also print the front panel but it resizes all the data to one page (very small and not easily modified). Currently we have to manually open a browser (i.e. hotjava) and then print the files.

First the disclaimer...My knowledge of the Sun environment is very limited. Given that; it may be possible to use launch your browser with LabVIEW and pass it a comman line argument to print the desired HTML file.

we want to install Oracle 9i Enterprise Edition in combination with Oracle Real Application Cluster-Option on 2 Nodes. Every node (12-CPU-SMP-Machine) should running Sun Solaris 8 and Sun Cluster 3 Service.
Does this configuration work with ORAC? I found nowhere informations about. Is there anything I have to pay special attention for during installation?

I have to use solaris 8 with netscape like forms clients
and I wasn't able to make it work with java plugins.

The foregoing list shows that I do not have sufficient disk space. Oracle Install documentation says I should have 3GB for a full install. My second hard disk should be able to handle this, but I do not know yet how I can add more disk space to the file system. Can you please tell me how I can do this?
Meanwhile I am deleting the 13 files 9iAS10220_part1 through 9iAS10220_part13 to free up some disk space. Having extracted files and created Disk1 through Disk5, I do not think I will need these 13 files anymore.
I am still trying to understand what runInstaller script is trying to do.

Forms Server Not Running On Sun Solaris

Hi,
Now I am developing an developer 6i on sun solaris. I am using Oracle 8i, Forms server 6i, reports server 6i and OAS 4.0.8.2.
I install database on oracle user. And forms dan reports on other user. I start forms server on port 9000 by running the forms60_server script. But when I call the test.fmx from http://xxx/dev60html/runform
there is an error message can't connect to forms server on port 9000.
Can any body help me.

How to make WebLogic run as a service in Sun Solaris

I have a WebLogic Server 10.3.1 run on Solaris 10. I use oracle user to start WebLogic. But when I logout, the server also down. How to make it still run when user oracle logout the server or the session is disconected automaticly?

you can put the same command in .profile file (hidden file) .. when the user logs in .profile will be executed and so do your startup sommand.

Ipod Touch On Amazon says it runs on Sun Solaris?!

When I clicked for the Ipod Touch 4th Generation it says its a Apple iPod touch 8 GB (4th Generation) - NEWEST MODEL. But what I don't understand is why when I scroll down under Product Specifications it says Sun Solaris after Operating System. Does that mean its a fake? When I click the white Ipod that info goes away. When reading reviews I don't see any comments about getting a fake Ipod under the reviews. Why would it say Sun Solaris? Isn't it supposed to be iOS?

They don't work in *NIX.

How to install Apache Web Server with PHP on Sun Solaris Sparc machine

Hi,
We are trying to install the Apache Web Server and the PHP package on a Sun Solaris Sparc machine running on SunOS 5.8. We are having compilation problems with the source code of both these packages.
Does anybody know if there are ready solaris packages for Apache and PHP available from where we can download and install instead of source code compilation?
Or any instructions / things to watch for when installing Apache with PHP (if anybody has tried installing Apache with PHP on Sun Solaris earlier) is most welcome.

Apache should be bundled along with Solaris check in "/var/apache" in Solaris 8 and Solaris 9
php is available at www.php.net

You should have Apache installed before trying to install PHP.
If you want to use PHP with MySQL then you must install MySQL first.
Before we Begin
1. These instructions assume that you have Apache installed according to instructions.
Getting PHP
1. You must be logged in as root to perform this installation.
su root
2. I save all my downloads in:
/usr/local/dist
If you don't already have one, you may need to create that directory now:
mkdir /usr/local/dist
3. You can get PHP 3.0.14 from here(www.php.net).

Installing PHP
1. We will install PHP in /usr/local/build, but use a tricky tar command
to do it in on hit from the download directory:

Compiling PHP
1. First let's get where the action is:
cd /usr/local/build/php-3.0.14
2. You now have 3 options:
* Simple PHP install without MySQL - goto step 3
* Simple PHP install with MySQL - goto step 4
* Custom PHP install - goto step 5
3. Simple PHP install without MySQL. Next, jump to step 6.
./configure --with-apache=../apache_1.3.12
4. Simple PHP install with MySQL. MySQL must be installed before you can configure PHP to use it. I recommend that MySQL should always be reachable with /usr/local/mysql. Even if you install it else where you
should create a symbolic link from /usr/local/mysql. Otherwise the compiler can have problems finding the mysqlclient library. The command
should look like this:
./configure with-mysql=/usr/local/mysql with-apache=../apache_1.3.12
Next, jump to step 6.
5. Custom PHP install. Take a look at the available configuration directives by using this command:
./configure --help
6. Now we can make the PHP executable. This may take a while.
make
7. Now we install the PHP module with:
make install
Adding the PHP Module to Apache
1. Now we have to setup Apache to include the PHP module:
cd ../apache_1.3.12
2. Re-configure Apache to use the PHP module. You should use your previous Apache configure command along with the PHP activate module directive.
You can see your previous Apache configure command by doing:
cat config.status
You can configure Apache using the previous command with the added PHP module by doing:
./config.status --activate-module=src/modules/php3/libphp3.a
If you used the simple Apache install from instructions the command will look like this:
./configure prefix=/usr/local/apache activate-module=src/modules/php3/libphp3.a
3. Make and install Apache with PHP enabled:
make
4. We need to stop the server before installing the files:
/usr/local/apache/bin/apachectl stop
5. Now we can install the new binaries:
make install
6. Start apache again (now running the new php enabled version):
/usr/local/apache/bin/apachectl start
Setting Up PHP
1. We have to tell Apache to pass certain file extensions to PHP. We do this in Apache's httpd.conf file.
cd /usr/local/apache/conf
2. Edit the httpd.conf file. If you do a search for php you will find a couple of commented out lines telling Apache to use the PHP module. You should uncomment them to look like this.
AddType application/x-httpd-php3 .php3
AddType application/x-httpd-php3-source .phps
3. I prefer to use the extension .phtml, you can use whatever extension you like (even .html) by adding lines to httpd.conf like this:
AddType application/x-httpd-php3 .phtml
Check that it Works
1. We have to restart Apache to make these changes take effect on the running server.
cd /usr/local/apache/bin
./apachectl restart
2. Apache should now be running with PHP enabled. The server version should include PHP/3.0b2.

3. Now it is time to test PHP with a page. The simplest thing to do is create a page called test.php3. My file is here. This file contains the

Sun Solaris 10,Upgrade 8 or higher,having issues with VxFS,for Oracle 11gr2

A while ago, we tried doing a prototype upgrade of our main Oracle 10g db to Oracle 11gr2.
The OS on which our Oracle 10g is running is Sun Solaris 10, upgrade 4.
According to Oracle 11gr2 documentation, we need Sun Solaris 10, upgrade 6 or higher for Oracle 11g2.
The filesystem we are using is VxFS, Veritas File System.
According to our system administrator, we had issues , making Sun Solar 10, upgrade 8 , work with the VxFS filesystem.
I was wondering if anybody is running Oracle 11g2 on Sun Solaris 10 upgrade 6 or higher with VxFS file system.
At present, our Oracle db upgrade project is on a hold, because of the above issue. So your help on this , can really help us in figuring out if there is an issue between VxFS filesystem and Sun Solaris 10 OS.

We are not running Veritas Cluster file system.
We tried moving our Oracle 10g r2 db on ZFS ,before doing the upgrade and performance on ZFS was worst.
ZFS has certain memory parameter setting. If you did not configure that then ZFS will eat your complete system memory.
My system administrator, has gotten a copy of Solaris 10 upgrade 9 and will try that with VxFS.
I was curious to find out if folks are running Oracle 11g on Sun Solaris 10 with VxFS file system and if they had experienced any issue.If you can Install Vxfs on Oracle Soalris 10 U9, then according to me there sholudn't be any limitations for an oracle database.
Recently i installed Oracle database 11.2.0.2 on one of my test server. I have created two databases - one on ZFS and another on ASM.

We dont have any performance issues. We are testing it for the performance benchmarks on both of the filesystem.

What CDE parameters must be set for LabVIEW 6i Sun?

We are running LabVIEW 6i Sun using the Common Desktop Environment (CDE). We are unable to bring windows to front reliably, either through LabVIEW property nodes, the "Window" front panel pulldown menu, or by clicking an inactive window with the mouse. We suspect a CDE windowing parameter is not set properly. Any suggestions?

CDE is a window manager that runs on top of X. X is dumb and requires a Window Manager such as CDE (others include tvm, olvm, olwm, fvwm, and many more) - maybe you can try another window manager? I think Sun used to allow you to change the window manager, but I have not used it for a while.
Can you reproduce this problem on multiple machines with a fixed pattern that always produces the error? If so, we would look at it ([email protected]) if you get all the version numbers (Solaris, CDE, X, and so forth), attach the VI and any instructions to reproduce this issue. The more details the better, it makes it easier for us to reproduce.

ZFS Snapshots/ZFS Clones of Database on sun/solaris

Our production database is on Sun/Solaris 10 (SunOS odin 5.10 Generic_127127-11 sun4u sparc SUNW,SPARC-Enterprise) with oracle 10.1.0 . It is about 1TB in size. We have also created our MOCK and DEVELOPMENT databases from the Production database. To save disk space, we created these databases as ZFS Snapshots/ZFS Clones at the OS level and are using less than 10GB each being clones as on now. Now I want to upgrade the production database from oracle 10.1 to 11.2 but I don't want to upgrade the MOCK and DEVELOPMENT databases for the time being and want them to continue to run as clones on 10.1. After upgrade, Prod will run from 11g oracle tree one one machine and MOCK/DEVL on 10g tree on another machine. Will the upgrade of Production from 10.1 to 11.2 INVALIDATE the cloned MOCK and DEVELOPMENT databases?? There might be data types/features in 11g which do not exist in 10g.

I would suggest u to raise an Official S.R. with http://support.oracle.com prior upgrading your database.
Also you can try this out with 10g db installation on TEST machine and create databases as ZFS Snapshots/ZFS Clones at the OS level for MOCK. Then upgrade the 10g database and test it.

Help needed on installation of Oracle 9i on Sun Solaris 8

Hey,
Help needed on installation of Oracle 9i EE on Sun Solaris 8. The problem I met was: we followed the installation guide from the documentation. And we selected the choice "install software only". After it was done successfully, we run Database Configuration Assistant utility to create a database instance. But finally it always tried to create the instance at the root directory ( / ) which doesn't have enough space and then failed. The case was that we have set the enviroment parameters: $ORACLE_BASE = /export/mydata, $ORACLE_HOME = /export/apps/oracle9i. That means it should be installed at /export/mydata, but it didn't. Any help or advice are welcome. Thanks.

I have downloaded Oracle 11G R2 version from Windows and extracted it in Windows and copied it into DVD after extraction in two folders. Now I am mounting that DVD in Solaris 10 installed in my VMware . I made a new directory named as 'installation ' under /export/home/oracle and copied the folders from DVD to 'installation' folder. Now I am entering installation folder and try to do ./runInstaller as 'oracle ' user and getting the error mentioned before.
