HTML Report Results

8.2.0 new reporting feature includes the ability to get more detail. I am unable to expand the 'Warning' pages and have to rerun the test in order to determine what the different elements or different images are. I thought with the new reporting feature I would be able to open up the area from the report. Any ideas?

Hello,
I was running into a similar issue until I realized that I had active content disabled on my report . Once I enabled active content (by following link at the top of the Web browser report), I was able to easily navigate and open up areas like rendered HTML page, source HTML code, differences, missing scripts, etc.
Maybe you are running into a similar issue?

Print HTML Report.vi doesn't scale properly.

LV 8.5.1, Report Generation Toolkit, XP. Our application uses the Print HTML Report.vi to print an HTML report.
We found that on some installations the resulting page does not scale properly. Instead of being one page wide,
the printout is about 1.5 pages wide (and proportionately longer), leading to our report being truncated.
Tried different printers, different print drivers, no difference.
Finally we noticed that the affected computers all had Internet Explorer 6 installed. Updating to Internet
Explorer 7 fixed the problem. Don't know about IE8, I expect that will work as well.
Hopefully this will help someone else who runs across this problem. I couldn't find any reference to
an IE > 6 dependency in the Report Generation Toolkit readme system requirement.

Hi Charlie,
The layout option is not wired to anything in the Standard, HTML, Excel and Word Report, but it is used in the Quick Print default case. The Help document for this VI mentions that the layout option is ignored on Standard and HTML Reports but does not mention the Excel or Word Reports.
This was discovered a little while ago in this discussion forum. And a report has be filed to R&D by Ben.

Print HTML Report Automatically after Each UUT

I saw the document on NI site called "Print HTML Report Automatically after Each UUT". That's exactly what I want to do with XML files. So I put it in my sequence file and it works fine, but when it opens the xml file at the first step, there's a pop-up from IE who say that "Scripts are generally safe, do you want to authorise this script" (This message is also displayed when I open my file in files explorer).
So, the print is not automatically anymore as I must answer to this pop-up. does anybody has a solution to bypass this pop-up ?
I tried to use the property silent on the class IWebBrowser2. Inded, the pop-up doesn't appear anymore, but my XML file isn't correctly printed. I supposed the default response of the pop-up (which is no) is applied. So the script isn't executed.
I also tried to configure IE to not display this pop-up : No result

Apply a border to the chart in HTML report

Hi,
I am generating an html report as the final output for my LV program. I have a few graphs that i have added to the report using the append control image to report tool. I have set the image on the control panel to be transperent so that it is printer friendly when i print out the html report. Everything works fine but there is no border around the axis, i.e. there is no solid line that defines x axis and y axis for the graphs. Is there is a property tool that can be used to set this?

I have used this trick alot. One thing that I found is that if you make the color inside the graph white instead of transparent you will get the results that you are looking for. I usually make the outside of my graph transparent and the inside of my graph white and it looks good.

How to print a html report?

I have LV 6.1 pro and I want after succesfull generate of html report
print them. How?

If you want to print the HTML report, you'll have to use ActiveX to open the resulting report with your web browser and then tell the browser to print it. Of course if you are wanting to print it, why are you using HTML? Why not generate it as a standard report? Or do both--one for printing and one for online publication.

Gpresult html report creation not working for computer settings

When I try and run a gpresult. all I get is this at the command prompt (as administrator).
gpresult /h c:\report.html
ERROR:
The error is particulary helpful ;-)
I can successfully create a xml file with /x report.xml . Its a pain to read though.
Also group policy results is also broken. I get the message:
An error occurred while generating report:
An unknown error occurred while the HTML report was being created.
I have read the fixes involving editing install.ins to remove the imported zones. This doesn't fix the issue.
It only occurs when I want the results from the computer settings. User settings work fine.
The environment is Windows 7 with Server 2008 R2 DCs. We have 3 2012 servers where gpresult works when processing computer settings.

Before going further, can we run
gpresult/r, gpresult/v or gpresult/z
to see whether we can collect computer settings? Besides, we can go to Event Viewer to see whether some error events were logged and keep us posted.

HTML report refuses to be opened

When I'm under "User" or "Guest" login
on WinXP sp2 (FAT32), HTML report refuses to be opened with "Open HTML Report in browser.vi" in IE (the same story with the OPERA, forinst).
When I'm under "Administrator", it's OK.
How can I work it out?

Have you tried sharing the National Instruments folder under Program Files? The Open HTML Report in browser.vi uses a core function whose block diagram cannot be viewd (it is password protected), but it probably calls a dll which non-administrators don't have access to. If this doesn't work, I'll play more on my machine as well, but I am having problems creating new users at the moment so I can't try this before posting Let me know the results, and we'll keep searching for an answer!

HTML Report with images in LabVIEW 6.1

I am generating an HTML report in LabVIEW 6.1 with an image. When I
save the html file to disk, two files are saved, the report and the
image. The report has the name I specified but the image does not.
It is not readily apparent that the two are related. As a result,
when I try and e-mail or move the report, the image gets left behind.
Is there a way to embed the image file in the report? Or what is the
best way to associate these two files so they can be e-mailed
together?

Tim,
Unfortunately, HTML does not include images.
A suggestion would be to create a GIF image, or to put everything in a zip file, or something to that effect.
I had to work with HTML documentation for LabVIEW, and actually used LabVIEW to substitute the images for control types with words, such that images were not required. You can try this if your images are nothing more than representations for which text can be substituted.
Alternatively, if your image is something like a graph, or the front panel, I might suggest creating a .gif or .jpg image out of it. This has to be done manually, but will make the page one single file.

HTML report bugs to report?

I did experience two problem with the HTML report in LV6, LV8.0, LV8.5 and LV8.6.
1: When images are placed in the report these are generated in the temp folder. When the report is disposed, these files are not deleted. This will cause the temp folder to fill. I have modified my dispose report.vi file in vi.lib to solve this problem.
2: The append control image uses a millisecond timestamp to create a unique filename. When this function is called more then once in a millisecond the unqiue naam is not unique. Again, i have modified my dispose report.vi file in vi.lib to solve this problem.
Is this a worthy bug report so this fix can be included in the new LV version?

Bug: Found in LV 8.5, generation of unique number of image is based on 1msec timer. When function is called more then once in a msec this results in a not unique number.

How to search a string in all opened html report ?

Hey people .. Sorry to bother U again.. I have a problem again.. and thanks to solve my previous problems...
I want to make an application in which I want to search a result string
in all opened Html reports... If I don't want to go to the all
desination and search one by one.. Is there any method to search the
result in all opened reports at that time..

I have a spreadsheet data which has 286*516 Pixels data. Data is 16bit
(from which only 12bit is usefull). Each data is a Level of a Pixel. I
want to Display Grayscale Image.
I have used 3D Graph to display it and projection XY selected . I am
getting My image as grayscale Image but somewhat slow display if I
continously run it.
Second Method I tried is Directly "some 2D Graph" ( Sorry I forgot the
Name.. I will get it next time) which directly display that 16 bit
spreadsheet file. But it has only 255 levels so it didn't utilized my
data and resolution is poor.
My doubts are..
1. Is 3D graph method I am using is Actually displaying my 16 bit image.
2. In 3D graph method : Because of that 12 bit format of my data and I
had to convert it in 16 bit I am loosing any levels or
Resolution ?
3. Is there any way of increasing 255 level to 16bit level 2D Graph method.
4. Is there any method that can display my 16bit information as a image utilizing all my levels.

I had no problem running this VI. Since I didn't have the VI you are using with Append Front Panel Image to Report (your VI is called X crossing3.vi), I used my own VI with a chart on its panel...when I generated the report, it came out fine. Do you have the X crossing3.vi open when you run the HTML Report Generation.vi? Since you are using the VI name as a string (as opposed to a path), the VI must be open when you run the report generation VI, otherwise no front panel will be appended. If your X crossing3.vi is not open for whatever reason, you can wire a path to Append Front Panel Image to Report instead of a string.
I hope this makes sense. If you're still having trouble, please attach any additional VIs to your response that I would need to reproduce the problem. Also, give me the exact steps to what you're doing, and the resulting problem you're seeing.

Up to now no problem: I use an own class which inherits from cl_rsr_xls_grid, take the p_string (the query result as html formatted string) and concatenate all the other Information like documents or formulas html-formatted to that string. From this string I can generate a file or can countinue processing.
But here is my problem: We need a link from the key figures in the result table to the documents or formulas of the key figures.
please take a look to the example document:

I have tried using the following in a decode statement of a Region report (type is SQL Query), and all it seems to do is form the HTML text as expected, but does not actually do what I want (i.e. display the field as red):-
SELECT a_code, a_status, decode(a_fld,a_fld,'&ltfont color=&quotFF0000&quot&gt'||a_fld||'&lt/font&gt','other') "CA" from a_table
What appears in the report is literally (I've put in single quotes in case this line is interpretted in the forum):
'1234'
I'm missing something - to force the HTML to be rendered as such. The field is displayed as a Standard Report Column, but it's just taking the decode search field as an ordinary piece of text. There's something that needs setting, but I can't find it - does anyone know?
