HTML signature appears different in email body

I attached an HTML signature in the Thunderbird preferences but it appears different when I send an email to myself. I understand that formatting can change between different email clients but I assumed it would appear the same in Thunderbird mail as it does in the settings. Any feedback is greatly appreciated, thanks!

Thanks for your response! The signature was created in Word and is basic with no graphics. I exported the file from Word as HTML then used the select HTML file option for signature in Thunderbird settings. I also have copy and pasted the raw code. Either way it looks correct in the preview in settings but the font doesn't stay when I send an email to myself and receive within Thunderbird. Perhaps the preview will show any HTML correctly even if Thunderbird can't receive it that way? Thanks again!

• How to remove the bar above the email body in inbox

How do I remove the Information / toolbar? (not sure what it is called) that appears above the email body under the list of incoming emails in the inbox. It is the bar the has info about the email and buttons like reply, delete, etc. It is redundant and just takes up space.

You cannot remove it. It is part of the message pane and will display when the message pane turned on.
You can make it smaller with this add on.

• What settings need to be changed so logos (.png or .jpg) and other objects in the email (body_part_0.html or body_part_1.vcf) appear in the email in lieu of att

We have several computers that receive email via Thunderbird. Two individuals received that exact same email. On one of the emails, the attachments are shown correctly (PDF file and a ZIP file). On the other computer, the attachments are also shown but any company logos (.png or .jpg) and other objects in the email (body_part_0.html or body_part_1.vcf) do not appear correctly in the body of the email but appear at the bottom of the email as attachments. I can send PDF files of these (2) different emails if it would be helpful.

Matt: Thanks for the quick reply... both computers have the identical antivirus software package. I'm thinking that there has to be something in the configuration of Thunderbird that is slightly different that is giving the different results.

• Old html signature keeps appearing

Hi,
I created an html signature for my mail account. It has worked fine. Very simple. Just a link to an image (png) on my server.
The thing is, yesterday I altered the image slightly, saved, uploaded to server (overwrote the original), created the new webarchive, replaced the existing webarchive file in the Home--> Library --> Mail --> Sig folder. Renamed new webarchive file to match previous. When I compose new mail, the old signature appears. This happens even though it doesn't exist anymore in the Sig folder. And the image doesn't exist anymore on my server.
So, I decided to trash everything and start again. In Mail prefs, created the default sig in order to generate/establish the file in the Sig folder. Then created the html doc (with correct link to png file on my server), opened in Safari, saved as webarchive to my desktop. Opened that webarchive just to check that the sig appeared correctly. It did. Then, replaced the existing webarchive file (showing default sig created 5 minutes earlier within Mail Prefs) with this new one. Renamed it with the just replaced file's name. Dragged the sig from the middle pane of the Prefs window over to the account I wanted it for, opened new message window. And . . . .
The OLD signature (the previous image, that is, that I overwrote on my server) still keeps appearing! But as with the first example above, it doesn't exist anywhere!
Anyone have any ideas why this is happening and what to do about it? Is it just some lag on cached images maybe? It's gone on for a day or two.
One other thing I noticed completely by accident: I open a new message window, the old sig appears. I move cursor to the drop down menu above the window to the right to check the signature selected. It's the right one. I click to select it again (even though it's already selected) and then the newer sig appears, replacing the older one. However, when I send the email to myself, no sig appears in the mail I receive.
Go figure! But again, any thoughts?
Many thanks.

• Image in html signature doesn't appear

I've tried this tutorial to put together an html signature including images.
http://allforces.com/2006/04/14/css-signatures/
As you can see at Step 6, the image shows when the signature is selected. When I compose an email however, I always get a 'blue question mark icon' as if the link to the image can't be found. I'm using images which are online, saved the html file as a webarchive file in safari etc. When I send the email anyway to for example my gmail address, the signature is ok and the image shows in the signature.
Why does the image doesn't show when I am writing the email and include the signature? Why do I get a blue question mark icon when writing the email? Perhaps I should point out that we're using IMAP should that matter.
The image should appear as it does in Step 6 in that tutorial. What could be wrong?

Hi there,
I had a similar problem with my .mac (mobileme) mail account. Followed basically same approach: I created the html signature in TextEdit and saved as a webarchive when opened in Safari. Then renamed it to have same name as existing non-html signature file in Home > Library > Signatures
(So, for those who are new to this, it basically replaces the one your mac created when you create a signature within Mail Prefs > Signatures; but even though you replace it, it needs to have the same name so it knows which mail account it applies to; I have 4 mail accounts in my program, with 4 sigs I created via the Prefs, so there were 4 of those sig files in Library).
Then I uploaded the image to an external server. Made sure I reselected the signature in the middle pane of the Prefs > Signatures area and dragged it over to the mail account.
Composed mail using .mac account, new signature DID appear (but it doesn't when looking at Prefs > Sig pane; that shows the ? mark because it doesn't go get the image at the external server, I guess). *Problem: when I sent mail as a test, it wouldn't show up in the mail that I sent.*
I just figured that Apple was stripping out the html sig. But today I tested again and it's there.
Somewhere in this thread, one of the guys mentioned giving it some time. That seems to have worked for me.
Just wanted to share because more and more people are starting to add html sigs.
(P.S. Also created these html sigs for my other, non-mobileme mail accounts and they appeared in the sent mail as soon as I sent the mail. No delay.)

• Email bursting send report as HTML in email body

Hello,
I have Oracle BI Publisher 10.1.3.4.1 (build# 1101) version installed as part of Oracle Business Inteligence.
I have question about email bursting. I created simple report and I am bursting it via email. But I would like to send report in HTML as part of email body and not as attachment. I read that it is possible in other versions of BIP (as part of EBS) with using of bursting configuration file. But I can not use this file with my version of BIP, I can configure bursting only vie SQL query.
Is there any solution?
Thank you

The graphic HTML signature panel does not appear in my Mac mail. I have inserted the signature after reading on the forum. But the images do not download - the rest of the text in the signature is in place - just the logo and the baseline which is a graphic file does not download. Please help.

Hi, are the pics at a remote location, or on your Mac?
Have you tried drag & dropping the graphics on the signature window?

• From:, To: and Subject: end up in email body - html email using sendmail

To the experts and the experienced:
I am trying to send email in html format from a Korn shell script on Solaris 10. The
email does get delivered and is displayed html-formatted, except that the From:, To: and
Subject: lines are displayed in the email body, rather than in the email header. I
would appreciate it very much if experts and the experienced could shed some light.
I use this command line to send the email:
sendmail -t [email protected] < testmail
The content of the testmail file is as follows:
MIME-Version: 1.0
Content-Type: multipart/alternative; boundary="frontier"
--frontier
Content-Type: text/plain
From: [email protected]
To: [email protected]
Subject: test html email
This is a plain-text email.
Newman
--frontier
Content-Type: text/html
From: [email protected]<br/>
To: [email protected]<br/>
Subject: test html email<br/>
<h3 align="center">This is a html email</h3>
<p>This is the paragraph.</p>
<p>Newman</p>
frontier\
The email received in Microsoft Outlook (html-formatted), looks like this:
From: [email protected]
To:
Subject:
From: [email protected]
To: [email protected]
Subject: test html email

This is a html email

This is the paragraph.

Newman
Two things in the email need fixing:
1. All the From:, To: and Subject: lines are treated as part of the email body and are
displayed in the email body, rather than in the header as I wanted them to.
2. The From: line in the email header is the actual sender, not the Bursar.Office as I
put in the testmail file. This can be easily done when using SMTP (telnet to port 25)
or mailx.
How do I tell sendmail/the email client to display in the intended places the From:,
To: and Subject: information that I specified in the testmail file?
Many thanks!
Newman

I searched in google and found a solution:
mailx -r [email protected] -s "test html email
content-type: text/html" john.doe < testmail
The testmail file is a pure html file with one

element. The content embedded in this element is the body of the email, with all the usual tags you would like to use:
, , <h3>, <p>, <ul>, etc.
The trick is piggy-backing a content-type with the subject. It seems to me this it to get the content-type into the email header rather than into the body. And that was exactly the problem I had.
The command lines was executed on Solaris 10. It works.
Hope this could be useful to someone who would encounter the same problem.

• Signature in Mail inserts above email body

I use the signature function constantly but half of the time it inserts itself above the email body rather than at the cursor point at the end of it. This is an intermittent problem that seems to have no discernible patterns - just sometimes goes in the right place and others it inserts at the top.
I am always diligent to ensure that the cursor is where I want the signature to be (at the end of the email). I have recently udated via auto updates and it still occurs.
Has anyone else had to endure this ??

Not sure what you are experiencing. For a New message, you only need to begin typing above the Signature. For replies, with quoted text, the position is controlled by a box in the Preferences for Signatures.
More info, please.

• How do I set up different signatures for my 2 email accounts?

I have 2 email accounts coming into my iPad - one work and one personal. I want to set up a signature on the work email that is different than my personal signature. Is this possible?

I use an app called Quick Signature. It works great for this exact purpose. It brings up a mail composition window for new emails and you just change the default account to the mail account you want to use.
http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/quick-signature/id525393558?mt=8
It's not possible to reply to an email currently as Apple has that functionality locked down from 3rd party apps. The Quick Signature app has gesture based cut and paste which works well in these situations.
