Html Widget to compensate for lost Google Maps

The html widget works BUT,   whenever the map is touched to move or view larger = apppearance of full html code over the map . . .
Assistance is appreciated.

Roddy:
I did as you suggested and published the entire site/changes to a desktop folder.
Voila !
I dont' fully understand, but you are absolutely correct and I am grateful in the extreme.
I hope I might be able call upon you for a few questions if they come up and I am unable to research and resolve them myself.  The site will be for my wife - a physician, and so  the site will need to elegant in its simplicity;  no 64pt fonts in bold mixed colors, no wiggles or jiggles, or sound.  Easy on the eyes.  Accessible to the mind.
Kudos to you and many thanks again

  • Issue in Develop mode for embedding google map

    Hello,
I am facing an interesting issue in Develop mode for embedding google map html code (screenshot is attached)
The map rectangle showing almost same size box underneath filled in black, while in preview mode, it is working properly. I could not find the reason, where I am doing something wrong.
    Many thanks .

    Hi Muzeone,
Its a default behavior with every WYSIWYG HTML Designer or editor,
Reason :The black box which is appearing in the design view is because you might have tried increasing the size of the iframe thumbnail.
If you are using Iframe and using Insert HTML feature in MUSE, make sure when you paste the iframe code in MUSE, it creates a thumbnail in design view do not resize it in design view.
Size does not change the height and width of Iframe in MUSE as its being controlled by the codes that you are inserting.
The design view will only show you iframe height which is defined in the codes below that it will show a black box.
    Enjoy working with MUSE !!
    Thanks

Your warranty is for hardware defects and does not apply to your area not being covered fully in the Maps app. Apple reports that they are working on improving their new Maps service, but until it reaches the level of finesse necessary to be fully usable, take a look at some alternatives:
Bing Maps offers a very good maps service with Bird's Eye, a feature similar to Flyover. It's arguably better than Google Maps.

  • Best tutorial for installing Google maps on 10.2.1?

    Hi,
Can anyone recommend a good tutorial for installing Google maps on 10.2.1?
Including where to download the APK (I've looked for a while and it feels like I'm trying to find a TV show for download).  Is there a ways to do this directly grom Google's Android sites?
    Thanks,
    Dave

I don't know why elessar says there is no way to load Google Maps, it does not require Google play services at all. Quite simple.

  • Error "a plugin is needed to display this content" for embedded Google map, but no plugin identified.

When I try to view a page that has a Google map embedded on the page, I get the error message "a plugin is needed to display this content". However, I don't know what plugin, where to get it, etc. I've tried searching for this issue but haven't been able to come up with anyone else experiencing a similar issue, nor does there seem to be a plugin for Google Maps that I can find.
    The page is here:
    http://osiama.org/lodges#
The map displays when one of the links is clicked in the table.

I'm not sure why, but the site uses <embed> for the map instead of <iframe>.
When Firefox wants to render an <embed>, it needs to know what type of object is being embedded, and the site doesn't supply that information, so you see a generic "I don't know how to handle this" error.
Unfortunately, I don't think there is a quick workaround for you as the end user. If you are the type to tinker, you can manually edit the code of the page in the web console as follows:
    * right-click the plugin message and choose Inspect Element (Q) - the web console will open to the Inspector, with the <embed> element selected (screen shot #1)
    * double-click embed and edit it to iframe, then press Enter to finish the edit
    * Firefox will now load the map (screen shot #2)
This isn't a general fix-all for plugin errors, and ultimately the site will need to change this.

  • Sales & Marketing Online MapIt URL Maps feature for Addresses Google Maps

We recently enabled the MapIT URL functionality so our users can see street maps from Yahoo from Sales Online when they click on the Map it icon associated with all addresses in Sales and Marketing Online.
See Metalink 280542.1 for how to enable this in the Ebusiness Suite.
    Two questions:
    1. We would like to use Google Maps; does anyone know how this can be done?
    2. Our business is in Australia. By default we hide Australia as a county on our addresses. This prevents us from seeing maps for addresses in Australia. Any body know a way around this?
Image for clarification can be found here: http://www.orafaq.com/forum/t/90720/0/

Sorry mate looks like it is not straight forward change that you can make to use Google instead of Yahoo.
You may need to use Google Maps APIs and try to build your own URL and update the profile option.
I am hoping in next version of Oracle Apps has out of the box functionality to use Google maps.

  • Adding multiple markers to Google maps 1.0 widget??

Is there any way to have multiple markers on the google maps widget? I've tried add some more markers in the code, but I can't get the name's on the markers to change. They all stay the same as the original marker.
    http://test.netfc.com/svf_dealer_locations.html

Not sure about any "Google Maps Widget".... but Google Maps offers lots of editing options... including pin icons and the content that pops up when when you click the pin....Name, description, links, etc.
Here are the steps I used..
    Create a Google Maps account,
    Log in,
Create a map in "My Places"
    If needed, edit that map.
    For example:
    http://www.exploreolympics.com/map.html
If the "widget" doesn't work... look at the other options available from Google Maps... just Google specifics for more information
    Best wishes,

  • When i try to use my google maps widget i get mobileme is closed...any suggestions?

Can anyone advise how my mobileme account was linked to the iweb "google maps" widget. i get mobileme is closed when trying to use the widget on my new website

The Google Maps widget had "API's" that were hosted on the MobileMe Servers.
You can still use google map however, you will need to get the embed code from google and paste it into a "HTML Snipet" in iWeb
You will want to copy the "<iframe" for the html Snippet

  • Lost my gmail, google maps, ect

    Hi guys,
I recently downloaded an update (1.1.4?) which forced my iPod to be restored because of some error (2nd update in which this has happened!).
I lost all my songs/podcasts/video, ect. Not a big deal since all that stuff is on my Mac anyways. HOWEVER, the $20 update I paid for (gmail, google maps, weather, stocks etc) is not on my iPod.
How do I get it back? Thanks!

Have you done a sync since the restore?

Getting away from google maps has made us stuck with maps functional on iphone4 and ios6.
This is not working well updating ios6 and we are losing biggest use of iphone (Maps)

  • Embedded google maps disappear upon launch

First of all - amazing product! I am still going through the enormous amount of features.
I am now trying to create an ibooks author widget to display an embedded google map in my ibook. I have done it according to the instructions described in your help page, but I must be doing something wrong - when I double click on the widget, the map loads, but inmediately dissapears, showing just the background layer (and there's no turning back). I have not touched any settings, nor added any styles. I have only added the embed code inside the html layer.
Does anyone know what I might be doing wrong? It's probably just a newbie mistake, but I am completely lost. Any ideas will be deeply appreciated.
    Thanks for reading.

Do you have any restrictions on Google's use of cookies or local storage? Do you notice any different logged in vs. logged out of your Google account? Have you tested with your extensions disabled?
I was going to suggest zoom, but it sounds as though you have reset zoom. Note that when Google Maps is framed, the reset might not drill down into the framed page; I should test that.
These threads were along the zoom lines, but not resolved. Might be something here you haven't tried?
    * [https://support.mozilla.org/questions/954901 Google Map photos only show at 100% zoom]
    * [https://support.mozilla.org/questions/956304 Google maps location arrows do not display]
If you are missing pins/icons hosted on a different site, perhaps: [http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=2359775 My own Google Map icons are not visible in Firefox 8 (mozillaZine Forums)].

  • Create .kml based google map in iWeb

Using iWeb 08, I can easily and successfully insert google maps into my pages using the web widget. I am then limited to an address though for the base map.
Does anyone know whether it is possible to insert a google earth based .kml file in iWeb so that when a user opens the page, the desired placemarks etc... are displayed and available?
If so, how might I go about accomplishing this?
any pointers are very much appreciated!

Don't use iweb2 google map widget.
Instead, go to google map, enter the GPS coordinates, then add it using HTML Snippet. See this thread:

  • IWeb Google Maps and Photo Gallery Question

I have a Website I started to create a while back. Is there a way to insert a google map and some type of photo gallery
into my site, now that MobileMe is gone???  I really liked the simplicity of iWeb. Is there anything else out there?
    Thanks, Eric U

You can still insert Google maps into your site - you just need to do it as you did before the Google maps widget arrived.
Go to Google maps and create the map you want and then copy and paste the code and place it in an ordinary html snippet and then click on Apply and the map will appear.
Also, another tip - you could have found all the answers that you were looking for before even posting your question by searching this forum and there have been literally hundreds of posts on the same topics of Google maps and slide shows.
Suggest you search the forum and look for posts by Old Toad and Roddy, who have found alternatives.
You don't need to stop using iWeb - if you have it use it, but just upload to another host/server.
There are plenty of alternative out there - again a forum search would have given you answers.
Take a look at RapidWeaver, Sandvox, Freeway Pro/Express and Flux 4.  You can download free trials of all of these and most are available for purcahse from the Mac App Store.
