  • Exit button not working Captivate 7 output to HTML5 and SWF

    I have several courses developed in Cp 6.5 that do not have this issue and are currently running on Taleo LMS.
    I've built a test course with 6 (mostly blank) slides, including two quiz questions. On the final slide I have placed a Finish Course button with On Success: Exit action. The project end options are set to close project and I've included an On Exit: Exit action on the final slide. The Finish Course button successfully closes the browser window in Preview in Browser (IE9) and Preview HTML5 output modes.
    I then published the course to both HTML5 and SWF output formats with scalable HTML selected. Once I uploaded the course to the LMS and tested it, the Finish Course button does not close the browser window. I've tested in IE9, Firefox, and iPad, and it doesn't work on any of these. I've also tried including the built in exit button on the playbar, and it doesn't close the window either. At the final slide, after clicking the Finish Course button, the slide fades to white and then stops.
    The LMS reports that the course is complete; I thought maybe it was an issue with the settings in the LMS course, however I have several other courses that were developed in Cp 6.5, published to the same LMS with the same "Exit" button on the final slide, and I have mirrored every course setting that has worked in the past.
    Any suggestions as to what could be keeping the window from closing?
    Thanks,
    PV

    Why does there need to be a button used now when in CP 6 and 6.5 it worked seamlessly? Will this be fixed by Adobe and when?

  • CP5 and Continue button on quiz results

    Is there a way to delay the appearance of the continue button?  We have a submit quiz results button on the screen too that they are instructed to select first, but I'm sure some impatient person will hit continue before vCP5 can complete sending the popup for the student to complete to send the results.
    Susan

    The buttons on the Quiz Results slide are on hidden layers that you cannot reorder via the timeline.  These layers are above any other object that you add to the slide (e.g. a highlight box intended to hide the button until you want it seen).
    I often hide the Review Quiz button underneath the Retake Quiz button on my projects so that the user has to pass the quiz before they can Review the Quiz.  This works because the Retake Quiz button seems to be on the very top layer.
    From what I see, the order is:
    Retake Quiz - very top
    Review Quiz - second from top
    Continue - third from top
    Unfortunately this may not help you much unless you want to force all users to Review the Quiz and exit the course another way.
    You cannot add other interactive objects like buttons or clickboxes or interactive widgets to the Quiz Results slide.  But you can add Static Widgets.  So in theory you could make the Continue button invisible by moving it off stage or turning it into a transparent button and then use the Static Widget button that comes with Cp to move beyond the Quiz Results slide.  Even though it's only a Static Widget this button still allows you to execute one of the standard actions normally reserved for Interactive objects.

  • Custom success and failure messages on quiz results slide

    I'm trying to create a custom success and failure message on the quiz results slide, using certain colours in the text caption to reflect our company's brand. So I've added an advanced action on entering the slide so that if the quiz percentage is 80% or more, the success message shows, and the failure message hides. It seems that this should work, but for some reason, only the failure message displays, regardless of whether I fail or pass. Has anyone else tried this with any success?
    Thanks for your help!

    I've changed the retake and continue buttons to image buttons, then added my custom success and failure captions which I've named 'fail_f' and 'pass_f':
    And here is my advanced action on entering the quiz results slide:
    The hide-button, is a white rectangle that I added so that I could place it over the retake button if they passed the quiz successfully.

  • Publishing as HTML5 and SWF loses scaling

    Good day,
    I am having trouble with publishing my Captivate 6 projects to use both the SWF and HTML5. When I just post it as a HTML5, the scaling works fine. However, when I use the multiscreen.html, the HTML5 loses the scaling when it opens on the iPad. Everything else works as it should (correct file type chosen for device, etc.), but the scaling in the HTML5 file fails.
    Any ideas?
    I am posting these files to an LMS if that matters. Otherwise - Cap 6, Windows 7/iPad version 6.0.1.
    Thanks!
    Jenn

    Anybody? Our new LMS went live today and I still haven't found a solution for this.

  • Presenter published to HTML5 and SWF works in Firefox and Chrome but not in IE 11

    I was under the impression the IE 11 could handle HTML 5.

    Could you please let us know the exact issue you are facing while playing the HTML5 content on Internet Explorer 11. Which version of Presenter you are using ?
    To View the HTML5 content on desktops and laptops you need the following browsers.
    • Internet Explorer  10 or later
    • Firefox 4.x or later
    • Chrome latest
    • Safari 6.0 or later

  • Can a regular slide be included in quiz results?

    Hi,
    I am thinking about creating a drag and drop quiz slide. Is this possible? Can you mark a slide as a "quiz" slide, or can I download a drag and drop quiz widget. I want it to be scored and included in the Quiz Results slide. This is probably a stupid question, but thought I'd ask before I tell my client that it can't be done.

    As long as you're not looking for it to be HTML5 compatible, you can use the Infosemantics Drag and Drop Question Widget:
    http://www.infosemantics.com.au/adobe-captivate-widgets/drag-and-drop/question/help
    http://www.infosemantics.com.au/adobe-captivate-widgets/drag-and-drop/examples
    When inserted into a Captivate project it creates a new quiz question slide to which you can then add drag objects and target objects.  It has a very wide range of preference settings to configure the way the interaction works.  It scores just like any other quiz question slide.

  • Capture Trainer in Quiz Results

    We are using Presenter 6.1 and Office 2003. On our shop floor we have trainers that want to lead a trainee through a quiz and then in the Quiz results capture who the trainer was. We are capturing the trainee as that person logs into Connect to access their training and quiz. How do I capture the trainer in the quiz results and for further reporting.

    Thanks for the response.  I have both a pretest and posttest in this project.  I have the pretest score variable set to appear in the results page so the learner can compare pretest and posttest scores.  I would like the post test results to appear on the results page as well, but those are displaying as NaN.
    These are my Advanced Interaction pages. Not sure what I need to change.
    Pretest are slides 10-14.
    This is the quiz properties for one of the pretest questions.
    Posttest Slides are slides 34, 37, 40, 43, and 46.  (I created feedback slides in between.)
    This is quiz poperties for one of the posttest questions:
    What do I need to do fix the NaN?

  • Help in setting up Quiz Results Analyzer

    Newbie here, Captivate 7. I followed directions on http://tv.adobe.com/watch/publish-and-track-results/reporting-using-lms-or-internal-server / except that I placed the internalServerReporting.php and internaserverread.php files in a folder named "cplms" on my web hosting service (linux). Looks like this:
    My experimental courses' quiz results appear to get posted there O.K. and accurately, in the "CaptivateResults folder that was created as you can see. However, when I set the Quiz Results Analyzer preference to http://www.mydfb.com/cplms/internalserverread.php and "get results", I can see it going through the process of "checking companies", etc. but I get this result:
    Note that the source is my "cplms" directory, but I get only 2 dots (parent directory?) in both the Organization and Department pull down lists. And under Course I get a list of all the files and folders in the parent (www) directory.
    Obviously I'm doing something wrong in my setup. I've played around for hours with variations but can't get anything to work. Do I have to 'publish' my Captivate course on the same server as in the Adobe video tutorial?
    I can FTP the "CaptivateResults" data back to my desktop machine and then point the Quiz Results Analyzer to that data and it works fine, but that's a bunch of extra steps.
    Thank you - any help is appreciated.

    Sorry mkjohnson74, but no one seems to want to help us. I don't think the Quiz Result Analyzer is ready for "prime time". It would be very nice if someone had put together a detailed (for newbies) guide on how to use it. In the meantime, I have found Widget that I think does an even better job of reporting than the Quiz Result Analyzer claims to do - and it was easy to set up and REALLY WORKS.
    Download a free copy of Jim Leichliter's Google LMS With Email Reporting at http://captivatedev.com/2012/11/12/adobe-captivate-6-x-widget-google-lms-with-email-report ing-2/ . Install it by following his two excellent videos that are also on that web page. It works so well for me that I'm thinking I can eliminate my current LMS. I did run into one problem (because I didn't follow instructions) but Jim responded immediately and got everything fixed.
    I hope this helps.

  • Different calculation results in toolkit and flash

    Hi,
    I have a PixelBender Kernel where I calculate the temperature of the color to generate a blue/green-screen effect. I noticed now that I get different values in flash and in the toolkit.
    I also noticed that the order of multiply and divide does matter in flash kernel but not in pixelBender toolkit. Now I use higher values for the temperature but still have a very different range in flash compared toolkit. To green-screen I have in toolkit hte values h1=760 to h2=1210 wich look absolut clean and in flash I have to use the values h1=592 and h2=631 wich gives me more diry results (can't get a clean seperation of green and yellow).
    Here are the important code lines of my pixel bender. In the toolkit I get more accurate results and have to use different ranges (h1 = from temperature , h2 = to temperature).
        parameter float h1
         <minValue: 00.0;
       maxValue: 1600.0;
       defaultValue: 760.5;>;
        parameter float h2
       <minValue: 00.0;
       maxValue: 1600.0;
       defaultValue: 1210.5;>;
    r = curColor.r; g = curColor.g; b = curColor.b;
    maxColor = max(max(r,g),b);
    delta = maxColor - minColor;
    // calculate green only
    if (maxColor == g){
        // old routine giving very raw results in flash
         //h = 2.0 + (b-r)/delta;
        //h *= 60.0;//h
        // bigger number to be more acurate
         h = 1200.0 + (b-r)*600.0/delta;
         dst.rgb = center.rgb;
         dst.a = 1.0;
         if (  ((h>= h1) && (h <=h2)) )
               dst.rgba = float4(0);

    I think there are several potential problems with this kernel, but I think some of them are occuring because of the way you've simplified it. In the version you attached to your last message, h and s are not necessarily initialized - since they are then used in the comparison at the end we have no way of predicting how that comparison is going to work out. This is exactly the kind of thing that Flash and the toolkit will handle differently.
    Also, you corrected one place where you were comparing delta to zero, however there's a comparison of maxColor to zero and of maxColor to g. Any equality / inequality comparison between floating point numbers is suspect, you cannot rely on it working at all and you canot rely on it being the same between Flash and the toolkit. Instead of this:
            if (maxColor == g && abs(delta)>0.01 ){
    you should be writing this:
            if (abs(maxColor - g ) < 0.001 && abs(delta)>0.01 ){

  • How to get a question in the course placed anywhere in the course and does not appear in the quiz result or total number of questions. Pretest would work except it can't go anywhere in the course (at least for me it can't)

    How to get a question in the course placed anywhere in the course and does not appear in the quiz result or total number of questions. Pretest would work except it can't go anywhere in the course (at least for me it can't)

    Use a normal question, and do not add the score to the total score. That will give you a correct score at the end. But the total number of questions, that system variable will still take into account all questions. You'll need a user variable, and calculate its value by subtracting 1 from the system variable cpQuizInfoTotalQuestionsPerProject. Same for the progress indicator if you want to show it?
    Customized Progress Indicator - Captivate blog
    If you want to allow Review, you'll have to tweak as well. You didn't specify the version, and all those questions I now mentioned.
    And my approach, since you talk about only one question: create a custom question, because you'll have total control then.

  • Can I allow a user to stop and then resume a quiz while retaining previous results?

    Hi all,
    First post here! I have had a search of the forums and can't find an answer to a) whether I can do this and b) how to!
    I am using Captivate 5.5 with Moodle as my LMS.  I want to create a fairly large project where users work their way around a virtual 'assault course' (represented by images etc) answering questions at various stages. However, they will not complete the whole assault course (and hence the whole quiz) in one go - so I want them to be able to stop and come back to the quiz again several days later and be able to resume from where they left off - INCLUDING retaining the score they have achieved so far (so if they had got 5 points the first time they accessed the project, they would start at 5 points and add to that on their second attempt). I know it's easy to make them resume from the slide they finished on, but is it possible for their score to be resumed as well?
    Thanks for any advice - I don't want to get too deep into building it if I won't be able to use the scores the way I want!
    Cat

    Users sometimes experience issues with Captivate courses in LMS where Resume Data bookmarking is used.  Whether resuming works flawlessly or not seems to depend on the particular LMS to some extent.
    What has happened in some cases is that when the user tries to resume the course after initially closing it down, they get stuck on the loading screen.
    I would recommend you build a quick prototype course with several interactions of different types and test the Resume functionality with your chosen LMS.  If everything works as expected, go for it.
    EDIT: One more thing, make sure you get several different users from your organisation to test it with any different types of web browser that might be used.  Especially things like IE7 to IE9 and Firefox.  Don't assume everyone will have the same experience you do.

  • Issues with reporting and quiz results analyzer

    First issue: If a user skips a question, the question they've skipped doesn't appear in the QRA. It simply replaces the slide with the next one.
    Example: User answers slide 5, skips 6, answers 7.
    When viewing the results, slide 7 becomes slide 6, and all subsquent slides are off by one number.
    Second issue: I am unable to update to the latest quiz results analyzer. I download directly from the Update built in QRA, or from adobe site's directly, both result in a corrupt package error. I've tried downloading and installing on numerous computers, but all of them give an error. Can anyone confirm the package isn't any good coming from Adobe?
    Third: At the end of the quiz the user is asked for their email address. But unless its in the latest QRA there is no place to view their email address they've entered. How can I view the email address they've entered, or simply remove that question from the end of the exam?
    Those are the main issues I've noticed so far when using Captivate. Of course the forum search is down, and has been for some time now so I can't search for these answers, so if anyone has them for me, thanks in advance!

    Hi,
    Thanks for trying out Quiz Results Analyzer!!!
    First issue: If a user skips a question, the question they've skipped doesn't appear in the QRA. It simply replaces the slide with the next one.
    Whenever a user skips a question, the data for that question does not even get added to the final reports. This behavior is same as the behavior of several LMS. And that is the reason, why the reports for a skipped question do not appear in Quiz Results Analyzer.
    Second issue: I am unable to update to the latest quiz results analyzer.
    Yet, there is no update pushed from Adobe for Quiz Results Analyzer. So, you can be sure that you are using the latest version of Quiz Results Analyzer.
    Third: At the end of the quiz the user is asked for their email address. But unless its in the latest QRA there is no place to view their email address they've entered. How can I view the email address they've entered, or simply remove that question from the end of the exam?
    The email-id entered at the end of the quiz is just for distinguishing the results of students. Currently, there is no way to view the email-id of students using Quiz Results Analyzer.
    Hope this helps!!

    [ I believe the code should not pass the compilation ... ]

    Many other people agree with you, including some Sun engineers.
    Perhaps Sun just feels an obligation to continue to allow it for legacy reasons.
    You might also investigate the compiler that comes with Eclipse.
    http://www.eclipse.org/
    It has a more flexible approach: for some cases, it lets you decide what is a warning and what is an error.

  • CP5: Scoring and Quiz Result Slides for Selected Questions

    Hello World,
    I am trying to create a course that has several "knowledge checks" that don't need to be scored or tracked, and then a 10 question quiz at the end that needs to be scored and tracked.
    Does anyone know of a way to separate those two elements so that the Quiz Results slide does not include any of my "knowledge check" data and just gives the user details of the 10 question quiz? I would also like to use the progress bar, but only for the final 10 questions.
    Alternatively, if the quiz result screen separated out the results of the knowledge checks from the quiz, that would work as well.
    Thanks,
    Graham

    Hello,
    If you use the Question slides that come with Captivate, all the slides will be added to the total score because you can only have one Quiz in a CP-file.
    Some ideas: you could set the score of the first (not te be tracked) slides to 0, or if possible change the questions from scored to survey (will not be scored).
    If by Progress you mean the indication 'Question X of Y', there you will need to make your own counters, with user variables and advanced actions. If you want to have total control of your question slides you could create the first bunch of questions yourself and only use the default Question slides for the real last Quiz. Just published a blog post today with some links to articles about customizing Quizzes. Feel free to check it:
