HTML5 export

Hi there,
We've got an question regarding Indesign CS6 an the ability to export your interactive document to HTML5 through the 'Preview HTML5 in Browser' option.
In the following video you'll clearly see this option although it isn't available in Indesign CS6.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bzOjbGx5kwc (at 9:20)
Can somebody elaborate on this?
Does anyone knows something about this feature?
We love to hear your response!
Kind regards from the Netherlands.

Hi,
We've got a Kickstarter project to build an HTML5 exporter (which will also work on older versions of InDesign). You can learn more here:

  • CP8 - Replay slide on HTML5 export

    Hi,
Is there an issue to replay a screen in an HTML5 export ?
I have a widget that works in SWF export but not HTML5...
    thanks

Do you mean a slide Replay button? It depends: do you have an On Enter action or not? If not, create a button with this one-line advanced or shared action:
Expression cpCmndGotoSlide with cpInfoCurrentSlide - 1
It depends on the set up of the slide, maybe you'll have to add a statement Continue.

  • Flash CC update: HTML5 export = jay! Some tips?

    Hi,
It's really great that we finally saw the long awaited Flash CC update in which icons didn't get overwritten.
A big surprise is the new ability to create html5 content from within flash (flash creating the canvas element and even converts actionscript 3 code!)
In another thread Colin Holgate offered to give some tips about this.
So Colin, we would really appreciate it!
For example: is it possible to convert external actionscript files (.as)? Or does the actionscript export only work for actionscript that is on the timeline within the .fla?
    Thanks!

Some things changed over time, even since Paul did his videos.
The WebGL, and some other features, are still at the experimental stage, and so they decided to remove the option for now, rather than have it not work quite right. Hopefully that will show up in the next update, whenever that is.
You do your HTML5 Canvas coding by using Javascript in the timeline. At one point that worked by putting the Javascript into a comment block, so that the ActionScript compiler didn’t get confused. With this new update you are working in a dedicated HTML5 Canvas FLA, and so you don’t need to use comment blocks.
I don’t believe there is any automatic conversion of AS3 to Javascript.

  • HTML5 export (first page)

    Hi gang,
Just a really quick question but in my exported to HTML5 project, there is always a first screen that pops up with a play button.  I've tried to figure out a way to not have that there (which it isn't in the exe export version) but I can't seem to figure it out.
Any ideas?  Does it have to be there for the HTML5 version?
    thanks!

    Hi again,
my answer was already answered correctly in the following thread...

  • HTML5 export (Ogg, WebM)

Just wondering if I have overlooked a solution to export videos for html5 pages with the "other" web codecs, e.g. at least Ogg Theora and possibly WebM. They appear to be still needed for widest browser support (while the world converges).
Is there a chance to support these codes in compressor? If no, how do you create such versions for your web pages (what is your work flow, tools)?
    Thanks in advance!

Have a look at this: http://daringfireball.net/2009/07/ffmpeg2theora
Maybe you can use Quicktime with the Xiph QuickTime Components for Theora conversion. AFAIK Miro can do WebM. Sorenson Squeeze can do both but is $$$.

  • Feature request: BitmapText in HTML5 export.

It would be great to have option of exporting to html5 with textfields converted to JS BitmapTextfields instead of "cjs.TextField":
    CreateJs Bitmap Text | vikram
Currently I'm editing generated js files manually and it looks like this:
    http://prntscr.com/5ww8qw
I find the above library being the best solution for textfields.

    Hi Victoria
Thanks for your support and advice on this matter. I've posted the suggestion on the Suggestions section of the page you provided and look forward to hearing other peoples views on it - and hopefully its addition at some point in the future .
    Rikk
Thanks for your view on my suggestion. I appreciate that there are many different workflows out there but I'm heartened to hear that you'd still be willing to lend your support even though it might not suit your own current workflow.

  • Is it possible to pull a variable from an embedded html5 page into captivate [6.0]?

So.  I'm attempting to replicate the functionality of the drag-and-drop quiz question widget in an html5 elearn.  A colleague of mine who is a jquery whiz was able to create the drag-and-drop questions as html pages, and I used this third-party widget to embed them in my elearn.  There's a variable in the html that tests whether the answer has been dropped in the right box, and I'm hoping to use a button to evaluate this and add (or not) the result to the quiz score.  Is this possible?  I've discovered that there's this handy library, but I have no idea how to go about using it. Can anyone give me any pointers as to doing this, or let me kow if I'm attempting to do the impossible?
I've also heard that drag and drop is natively html compliant in Captivate 6.1, but is a Creative Cloud license the only solution available to someone with little programming experience?

I don't know if Philip has updated this for CP6?
Ooh, good point. I will try to contact him.
The other thing is, last I checked, Infosemantics's widgets aren't supported in html5 exports, which is where this whole dilemma comes from.
    Also,
not in the Creative Cloud, but only available to subscription users (or ASA) not to boxed license users. Captivate is not part of the Creative cloud
That explains why I'm having so much trouble finding anything about it there.  Thank you!

  • Audio & rewind in HTML5, Captivate 6

This is the situation. I start playing the project. The audio for the slide commences. Then hitting the Rewind button, the project navigates back to the first slide. However, the audio does not rewind. The audio starts playing where it left off.
Does anyone know a cure for this? (The audio works fine with the Play/Pause button; the problem only happens with Rewind.)

Didn't try it out, but is my workaround on slides where the Interaction widgets pause the audio. Since you talk about HTML5 export, it is not possible to use Object audio, but I think the new commands Play audio and Stop triggered audio will do well:
Identify the audio clips in the Library
Set up an (advanced) action to play that clip On Enter for the slide
    Delete the slide audio
Try to find a way to stop the audio (if the playhead reaches the last frame of the slide, you can use the On Exit event of the slide, if you have a Next button, use that one to stop the audio clip

  • HTML5 Xtra?

I haven't seen any new Xtras for Director lately. I think it would be financially attractive for a programmer to develop an Xtra to export simple projects as HTML5. It would revitalize Director.

It's time for Adobe to abandon the Shockwave plugin and concentrate on an HTML5 exporter with WebGL 3D capabilities. See what WebGL can do:

  • ? about SWF and HTML5

    Hi All,
Thanks for looking in. I just created my first FLA file and exported to SWF with a hyperlink, music and a few effects in it. Pretty nice. 750kb for a 40 seecond loaded movie.
I was checking out these links and tutorials:
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/createjs/articles/using-flash-pro-toolkit-createjs.html
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/createjs/articles/getting-started.html
I absorbed 70% of it on the first read and will play with the example tomorrow. I just want a better grasp of the firing order of this please.
From what I gather, and this is where my question's are.
Do I need to upload the assets (exported assets & Jsfile) from my HTML5 export from that FLA movie to a / my server, (if I do not use an SWF container) This is how a browser can aquire it and run it? Then I need to paste the JS code into my HTML page so a Browser will have the instructions? I am a bit confused on this HTML5.
That SWF movie I just created (mentioned above) in Flash Pro will need to be placed in a player & skin, right? Or I can use an outlet like Youtube and embed a player. As I have been doing in the past with my .264. / .mov files. However to get graphics like Yahoo is using on their splash pages. Like onclick(); mouse over, etc. So that the images play on top of the page and not in a confined player. Almost as though they are transparent on the page. I need to Export HTML5, upload assets to a server and create my HTML page for the layout. Right?
Sorry if I am a bit incoherent on my questions, but I am a bit confused. I was under the impression ( at least that is what Adobe's promo video's appear to do) that I can create a flash movie, export to HTML5  upload the folder, paste the JS code on the html landing page a viola' . I am a bit hazy on the js code for the html landing page. However I did get the CS6 Master suite which has DreamWeaver. If I recall, when I used it when it was DreamWeaver 5 that should help with the specific paths.. Please advise
    Thank you,

yes, but createJS will create an html file for you.  so, you could start with that.
I am a bit confused on this HTML5.
That SWF movie I just created (mentioned above) in Flash Pro will need to be placed in a player & skin, right?
no, it will be displayed like any other html page with javascript.  ie, in the user's browser window.  there is no flash player involved.
Or I can use an outlet like Youtube and embed a player. As I have been doing in the past with my .264. / .mov files.
no, you will not be creating a video (flv/f4v) with createJS.

this doesn't make sense to me.

  • Captivate 8 wants to use Media Encoder CC as a default and I only have Media Encoder CS6

    Hi!
Yesterday I switched from Captivate 7 to 8.
Usually I'm using FLV's which get converted to MP4 on HTML5 Export.
Captivate 8 tries to start Media Encoder CC, which I don't have and then crashes. Except for Captivate I've got the CS6 Master Collection installed.
There don't seem to be an option in the preferences to change which program should be used to convert.
    Any tips?

I just tried this and updates for CS6 and CC were downloaded and installed.
Captivate still tries to start CC and failes, but now I can lock into the error report:
    Dyld Error Message:
      Library not loaded: /usr/lib/libcurl.4.dylib
Referenced from: /Applications/Adobe Media Encoder CC/Adobe Media Encoder CC.app/Contents/MacOS/../Frameworks/dvacaptioning.framework/Versions/A/dvacaptioning
Reason: Incompatible library version: dvacaptioning requires version 7.0.0 or later, but libcurl.4.dylib provides version 6.0.0
So if I get this right, my MacPro is finally too old, as I can't install a newer OS on this

  • ID CS6 questions - TOC

I had a word doc which I needed to convert to epub. I first went from word to Sigil and it looked pretty good as Sigil retained all the styles, then I went to validate  and I saw the TONS of errors. I had just finished a .id to .interactive .pdf and remembered I had the Kindle plug in for ID, so I selected ALL the text in the word doc ( I had converted it to html first) and started pasting the text on each page as I made 20 pages and command clicked to load the cursor. A bit of work but when it was done I added the cover and did a guided export. The first time I did I got a warning about the cover being too small. Once I corrected and exported again I never got any warning or confirmation message that the file was done. So I opened and checked in EPub Checker and I got no errors. Opened in Kindle Fire and it looks stunning! So before I start dancing around I need some info here first,
is it normal when exporting using the Kindle plug in if there are no errors that No warning comes up?
second, is there an easier way to select all the text from the word doc while using the loaded cursor and automatically copying the text into the linked text boxes?
    thx

There was an Adobe tech demo some time ago showing an export to HTML5 which dynamically retains liquid layout capabilities in the browser. The demo was pre-CS6, so I'm guessing they didn't get the feature ready in time for the initial release or even reserved it for a Creative Cloud update to ID CS6 on purpose.
Here is a video recording demonstrating liquid layout (which has since shipped) and then the HTML5 export:

  • Adobe released Captivate 6.1 update

Hello everybody, can I ask Captivate product managers, or others, about new Captivate 6.1 update? Today my CP 6 (monthly subscription) updated by automatic updater to version 6.1. Problem is, I cannot find some more information about this news yet. But I can see inside Captivate, for example, in Interactions there are some new cool interactions thats look and works fine. I found also new panel Drag and drop, wich is perfect!!! There are also some new support for HTML5 export.
When Adobe will release more  information about this update? Is this update only for subscription or single product? This wuestion is because I have also electronic license of eLearning Suite 6, and CP6 inside eLS6 was not updated. I hope, Adobe will provide update for all Captivate 6  (single or include in eLS), so we can works in team on the same version CP.
    Jarik

Captivate 6.1 update is only for subscription product...
This strategy make me so crazy!!! What can I do now, when our team want to work on the same version of Captivate 6 (subscription CP6.1 single product and e-licensed CP6 inside eLS6)?
    What are my options?
Can I upgrade from elicense eLS6 to subsription eLS 6.1? And, if possible, how much would I pay for this scam in one same version 6?
    OR:
Can I return to Adobe my elicense eLS6 and take subscription to eLS 6.1?
Can I return my box product Design Standard CS6 and take subscription edition DSG 6 so I will have for example Illustrator CS6 package functionality?
Generally. Is my money, what I paid for box and elicense product, less, than money from people who have the same version products, but in subscription editions, and have small but interesting updates gratis?
Perhapse, I guess what this strategy Adobe wants to reach , but it is totally unfair for box and elicensed users. Of course, the world does not fall without small updates. But it is unfair. Especially, when these updates fix some bugs and issues -:(

  • Workaround for mouse over

    Hi,
is there a workaround for mouseover ?
We have a few buttons with mouseover and when mouseover is triggered, a textbox shows the desired text.
We now learned that the mouseover is not supported in HTML5 export.
So, question is clear, is there a workaround ?
    Joep.

    Dag Joep (Nederlandstaling, niet?)
No rollovers are supported for HTML5 output, you'll have to replace them by showing on click (tap).

  • Edge Animate - future perspective

I'm using Edge since beta versions etc. and as an internet user and developer with over 17 years doing web stuff I have few comments to share about Edge Animate.
In short I don't like it, I don't see any purpose of it.
First of all we have Flash that can do ALL that and beyond that, what Adobe should have done is implement better export options for Flash and problem solved.
Edge Animate 1.5 has so many issues that i don't know where to start, from GUI (user interface) to all those functions, bugs and problems...
To consider there are much more Flash developers, designers, animators than for Edge Animate, so you would think that it would better to make it similar to Flash for those devs to better understand its functionality.
I don't know who works at the Adobe, but I could write like 30 maybe even 40 pages just explaining what is wrong and how it can be better, and you have people on salary there perhaps 50 of them working on Edge Animate who couldn't figure out all the issues...
I truly don't know where to start Flash's timeline is waaay better, much more advanced, much more flexible etc..
Simply you can't compare Edge Animate with anything, except with Flash version 2 or maybe 3.0 from the 90's, I've red few articles online already about that, offered coding option is so much similar to ooold Flash 3.0.
I have no idea why the waste of time and money developing something new from scratch, when you already have top notch professional tool that should have been upgraded for better HTML5 export or JS.
TIP for Adobe: If you really want to continue working on Edge Animate and not make same mistake as LiveMotion, get proper expert for positions of project manager or product manager, because current one(s) don't see the obvious mistakes in first version, and I do belive that with those salary some folks do have some experience that are hired to work on such product...

    Hi Mari,
Edge Animate Product Manager here. If you're coming to Animate from a Flash background yes, there is a magnitude of difference. When authoring in Flash Pro you have the advantage of targeting the Flash Player - since Adobe owns both, we were able to accelerate the creative capabilities of FP since we owned the player it targets. Animate targets the web and we rely on the browser to play content. The gotcha is Adobe doesn't own a browser so the creative content is dependant on the capabilities of HTML. Also keep in mind FP has had decades of development while Animate is about two years old.
I understand there can be some challenges in learning something new. We have the advantage of starting anew and took a solid look at some of the ways we can innovate on the content creation process. Personal anecdote; before I joined Adobe I was working as a graphic designer, web developer and Flash animator. I have a hard time going back to FP authoring because of the intuitive improvements we've made in Animate. If you have a desire to learn Animate for the sake of deploying content on desktop AND mobile I suggest approaching the tool with an open mind instead of perceiving flaws which are merely differences between the two tools.
If your only concern is targeting the Flash player then by all means remain within FP. Animate is for creating content to be viewed all across the modern web - which means targeting places the Flash player can't reach. You also might be interested in Toolkit for CreateJS, which converts your Flash content to HTML5 canvas. Caveat emptor; Toolkit is again bound to the restraints of HTML so you have to be mindful of the content you create since not everything available in FP is available on export. The advantage you get with working inside a tool like Animate is you're working on a Webkit based stage so everything available to you in the tool is exactly when you get on save. There is no "tada" magic FP or Animate can do to make web browsers offer all the capabilities you get with the Flash player. Today authoring content for the web means doing so without plugins.
As Marie and others in this thread pointed out (thanks!), myself and the Animate team are genuinely interested in constructive feedback on the tool. The feedback we've received to date has helped shape and craft the tool into what it is today. Find a bug? Tell us about it! Feature request? Let us know! (Hint: "Make it more like Flash" isn't a feature request. "I want to mask objects like I can in Flash" is a more constructive example on communicating feedback)
