HTMLDB and JDeveloper Suite installation/configuration

Hi,
I have downloaded and installed 10g and HTMLDB on Fedora Core 1. Both installed OK and the database works fine. HTMLDB, however, is giving me troubles. I have followed the steps recommended in both the HTMLDB admin manual and at http://otn.oracle.com/obe/obe10gdb/install/htmldbinst/htmldbinst.htm (they seem to contradict each other in terms of URLs) in order to access the HTML Admin page, but no luck. Apart from the welcome page (http://localhost:7777), I don't seem to be able to access anything else (the HTTP server always returns "Page Not Found").
I am quite familiar with http servers and their configuration but never used the Oracle supplied one.
Just wondering if someone more experienced in this area could shed some light.
Also, I'd be interested if anybody installed the JDev 10g suite on Linux. I have tried, using the same tricks as for the DB installation. After the dependencies are successfully checked (gcc, shared libraries, etc) the runInstaller crashes, throwing a Java exception and advising to send the log file to Oracle. I had a look in that log file but it does not contain anything helpful - so I did not send it.
Again, maybe somebody else has had more luck.

There are a few issues around vista, it is supported though.
this note is for 10.1.3.4 but is still relevant for initial install of 10.1.3.1.

when you get errors like you got, what you need to do is go to the following directory
SOA_HOME/opmn/bin
run the 2 commands
opmnctl shutdown
opmnctl startall
then retry in the configuration wizard.

HTMLDB and Collaboration Suite Files

Hi,
I'm interested in writing an application for document retention, and one of the necessities is that the files that it uploads be placed within a CS Files area. Is this possible. Our reasons behind this are being able to have a front end to the upload of the files in order to associate descriptive fields with the file, but having the capability of viewing the files (those that they will have the privelege set for viewing) within the CS files structure (as well as a mounted share). If this is possible, can the file privelges be set so that only certain files are available for public viewing, while others are only vieweable if you have MORE prievelges (DBA, etc.).
I hope I'm making sense here.

You may already have studied the techniques Raj described at Downloading BLOB from a table. to move your uploaded files out of your wwv_flow_files view and into some other location. So, if I understand your question, it is how do you get that content (along with descriptive tags) into the CS files area and how do you control permissions on it. That should be described in the CS Files documentation. I know it supports several protocols, so there should be a PL/SQL API that you can use from your HTML DB application to copy the BLOB from wwv_flow_files to the CS Files tables. As far as permissions go, as I understand it, you don't actually set permissions on files, but you just put the content into CS Workspaces or CS Personal Areas that are appropriate for the type of access you want to allow. Individual users can access these areas according to their profiles in the Oracle Files User Store. Lots of resources on OTN about CS, e.g., http://otn.oracle.com/products/ofiles/pdfs/ofiles_migrationwp.pdf.

I am new to Oracle Coherence. I was looking for examples implementing Oracle Coherence step by step so as to get a basic understanding using JDeveloper but most of the examples available are using Oracle Service Bus and Eclipse.

Please find the answers to your questions below:
1) Could you please let me know how to use this system property -Dtangosol.coherence.override in my application so that I can coordinate between the cluster used by my application and the one started for using Coherence Node.
You need to specify this property in the Java Options of your server or cache node startup script.
2) I was trying to understand how to use this tangosol-coherence-override.xml but the document is pretty confusing. I am not able to understand that whether I am suppose to use it at server level or at application level.
I would suggest extract the coherence.jar and you it would be important for you to have a look at the tangosol-coherence.xml and tangosol-coherence-override.xml. This file is used to override any of the properties specified in tangosol-coherence.xml for your cluster configuration for example, clustername, multicast ip and port or WKA for unicast, logging and so on.
3) Another point is how to coordinate among tangosol-coherence-override.xml, coherence-cache-config.xml and -Dtangosol.coherence.override system property from my application
Ideally you should specify in the java options of your application startup but you can also sepcify using System.setProperty("property", "value") in you code for specifying the various properties
4) How to use the cache updating mechanisms from an application?
I am not clear what do you mean by cache updating mechanisms? If you mean how you can update the cache from application then you can use simple Put, Entry Processor and so on. Refer NamedCache APIs to start with for operations but there many other ways to update the cache from within application or otherwise

if you're using the same computer hardware to reinstall your cs3, you don't need to deactivate first.

JDeveloper Suite Personal Edition and Windows NT

I recently purchased the personal edition of the JDeveloper
Suite. It states that the operating system must be Windows NT
4.0. I will be moving from Windows 95 and have little
experience with NT. Does this product require NT 4.0
workstation or NT 4.0 server software? If both are acceptable,
is one preferable? Also, which is required fot JDeveloper Suite

In fact this will usually work (Windows 9x), but it isn't
certified or supported by Oracle. My personal experience is
pretty good (Windows 98) although when JDeveloper does hang it
will more often than not hang the OS (which almost never happens
to me on NT).

OSB and SOA Suite in the Java Cloud

Hi All -- the question is rather to a technical support personnel of the Oracle Cloud,
Is it possible to deploy and run the OSB and SOA Suite applications on the Oracle Java Cloud? To be more precise:
1. Is the WL server in the cloud configured to contain the Oracle Soa Suite?
2. Is the WL server in the cloud configured to contain the Oracle Service Bus?
If not: would it be possible to configure the Cloud WL domains the way that these are supported?
What we need are two servers (or two clusters): a SOA Suite application runs on one, while the OSB application runs on the other.

there will be convergence of the 2 products that basically address 2 different use cases (see Statement of Direction).
In my opinion new tools will be added to Jdeveloper to develop and deploy on Oracle Service Bus (OSB). In present OSB version, OSB tools are not part of Jdeveloper and transformations use XQuery instead of XSLT (as for Oracle ESB).

Oracle SOA Suite Installation with traditional Oracle Infrastructure

Dear All.
Good day, I have a question related to the Oracle SOA Suite, I need to know if I can use Oracle Application Server 10g Release 2 ( the traditional version) which contains the Oracle Infrastructure & Oracle Middle tier on the same product, Business Intelligence & Forms version, to work with Oracle SOA Suite 10.1.3 Release 3, to give the authinticatio & authoraization using Oracle Internet Directory not using the Java SSO.
Is this has any effect of development the BPEL Processes or the web services? such as using specific Java containers??
can I use this OAS 10g Realease 2 to deploy the web applications (J2EE) and integrate them with BPEL processes deployed on the Oracle SOA Suite Installation??

Hello.
When you install SOA Suite you get typically a "home" and "oc4j_soa" container. You can deploy apps into the "home" container if you wish. Technically you could also deploy into oc4j_soa, but I strongly suggest leaving it alone!
You can also do a 2nd Oracle install in a new Oracle Home to just have a J2EE server, in order to deploy web apps. Or, you can use WebSphere, Sun, or WebLogic, too. You can add a new OC4J container to your Oracle app server home. That is what we do typically - that way large apps can have their own JVM and memory, you can restart an OC4J container to "reboot" a problem app without impacting apps in other OC4J containers, etc.
You can configure OAS to use OID or any 3rd-party LDAP for authentication/authorization, including Active Directory. At our site we use OID Directory Integration and Provisioning (DIP) to import AD users/groups into OID. This way corporate users/groups/logins are all available to OID, making SSO that much more powerful, with no need to create new accounts just for OAS.
The install docs and/or MetaLink (My Oracle Support now) should have details on what versions of OAS work with OID. As I mentioned, we have Business Intel. & Forms (10.1.2) and SOA Suite (10.1.3.3) both using OID 10.1.4.0.1 (which itself is on top of OAS 10.1.2.2).

Problem in installing Oracle database 10.2.01 and SOA suite

However, i used the Oracle database from other system and installed SOA suite on my system. It was working fine until recently when it failed to start. I had only one option i.e. to deninstall the SOA suite.(i used the oracle deinstaller to deinstall the SOA suite) . When i tried to reinstall it again, i got a warning saying "DHCP configuration was detected on this host. The installer also detected that the local host name and the network hostname differ". When i ignored this warning and continued the installation, the set up falied to detect the Oracle database which i had used earlier(problem 2). Do I need to clear any logs or do i have any way to sort out these two problems. Please help. ?:|

PC Suite installs ok, but "operation failed" on si...

PC Suite installed fine, no error messages. Previously, I had no troubles.
A day or two ago, the version of Nokia Software Updater was itself updated, to 1.4.98EN
Now, whenever I attempt to install a sis or sisx file, from Windows, I get an "operation failed" error, from Nokia Application Installer. This happens whether or not I have PC Suite configured to install apps to either the phone or to its memory card.
Also, When I connect my phone to my PC, I can no longer browse either the phone's memory card, from Windows. Windows Explorer can detect the presence of the memory card but, when I select the memory card, Nokia Phone Browser gives me the error "The operation could not be completed".
However, Nokia Phone Browser can access the phone's memory, just fine.
Has anyone else encoutered this, particularly after Nokia's updater was updated? Is there a solution?

Good catch, cricfancy. I missed the PC Connectivity solution. This time, I sorted the installed applications by Publisher and found all that were from Nokia, including the PC Connectivity Solution.
I uninstalled all of these:
Nokia Software Updater
Nokia Photos
Nokia PC Suite
Nokia Flashing Cable Driver
Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver
PC Connectivity solution
Rebooted PC
Ran CCleaner Registry Cleaner
Rebooted PC
Reinstalled Nokia PC Suite 7.1.18.0
Nokia PC Suite requested direct cable connection to the E71 phone
During the Nokia PC Suite installation, Windows Media Player spiked an error (I didn't realize any portion of WMP was even running). That's been happing a lot, recently.
Windows installed the connectivity drivers and Nokia PC Suite indicates the phone is connected.
PC requested a reboot.
All the USB drivers Windows was unable to install, the last time around, are now installed correctly.
And the result is:
I still cannot browse the phone's memory card, from Vista. Phone's memory is visible to the PC, just fine. Interestingly, the Settings for Nokia PC Suite (destinations for music, video, installs, etc.) defaulted to folders on the phone's memory card. When I drag and drop media, on to Nokia PC Suite's Windows desktop app, the files transfer just fine to the phone's memory card. But, this does not work for text or MS Office files (Excel, Word, etc.). Those spike a "unable to copy the file on the phone" message, from Nokia PC Suite.
It appears, for the time being, that my only alternative is the use Mass Storage as a way to access the phone's memory card, from Windows Explorer, in order to transfer data files that aren't media.
And, "operation failed" is still what comes up, from Windows, when I attempt to install .sis files with a double-click in WIndows Explorer.The workaround, though, is to drag-and-drop the .sis file, from Windows Explorer, on to the Nokia PC Suite desktop app.I can live with that.
I'm going to consider this problem to be more-or-less closed. I mean, I understand the workarounds needed.

Here are the hardware configuration:
Intel i3, 4 GB DDR3 RAM, 1 TB HDD, 375 GB free disk space on it.
I have downloaded Oracle EBS 12 for Linux 64 bit.
I have Windows 7 64 bit installed and VMWare workstation 8 installed on it. I installed Linux 6 64 bit on VMWare. Do not know where to go from here, please help me in installing Oracle EBS on Oracle Linux 6. I have searched in different forums, I notice that Linux needs to be configured before installing EBS 12 and I also notice that 300 GB need for EBS installation but where it should created?
Please help to complete this EBS installation, I appreciate your efforts.
Is Ubuntu 11.04 compatible with Oracle EBS 12?

Working With CVS and JDeveloper 10.1.2 URGENT

Hi Guys,
Can somebody help me out? To work in Team Development we have chosen CVS. I have two versions CVSNT, 2.5.02 and 1.11.13. I have followed every step from the help file, and installed them (first 2.5.02 and then 1.11.13, after un-installing 2.5.02). Now whenever I click CVS Server node from the Connection tab, it always display a message Alert:
The CVS executable is not installed or not located in your system environment path.
although I have added the path in the path variable.
I was going through the article:

where it recomended the CVS version:

that i download from cvsnt.org
cvs it's in path variable.
and front-end i use Tortoise CVS that is better because it's integrated in Windows Explorer.
otherwise in JDev select menu Versioning->Select System-> check CVS and then
in tab Connections in CVSServer right click and select new cvs connection.
configure and work.
try to have only a cvs.exe in your machine.

SOA suite - WSM Configuration fail

Hello,
I was trying to install the SOA suite through Configuration assistance but installation failed at the WSM configuration. The error shown in the log is
"Unable to locate a valid OC4J URI. The server is probably down". I am trying to install this on Vista OS.
Does anyone have idea about what could the probable problem be. I would really appreciate any assistance.
