HTMLDB Install Failures 10G

During the install of HTMLDB from the 10G companion CD a raft of ORA-03114: not connected to ORACLE errors occurs. I traced the original error back to the impor_export.sql script. Specifically the create or replace java source name "Utitlity" part. Once this fails the session is disconnected and the rest of the process goes down the tubes.
I tried to re-run these scripts from the command line and then I tried to run just the java source install and it always fails.
I can go through and run the rest of the scripts, but this doesn't seem to help.
I got to:
http://localhost:7778/pls/htmldb/htmldb_admin
and there is nothing there.
In fact http://localhost:7778 only shows the
"welcome to the Oracle HTTP Server" page - there is no links to the DAD configuration or anything else.
I still get errors in the section of the install that comes after htmldb_lang.
I was wondering if anyone knows why the install fails, starting with the create java source "Utility" or why the html_admin pages aren't showing up.
This seems strange to me.

I dropped the two users (flows_010500 and flows_files) and made sure the two entries (db and htmldb) were in both the tnsnames.ora files. I then went and ran 10_comp_home/marvel/ins.sql
When it got to the java source "Utility" part, it once again failed and the remainder of the install failed with the same error:
...Utility
ERROR:
ORA-03114: not connected to ORACLE
create or replace and compile java source named "Utility" as
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel
...htmldb_custom_auth
ERROR:
ORA-03114: not connected to ORACLE
No errors.
...htmldb_lang
ERROR:
ORA-03114: not connected to ORACLE
Then it gets to the ldpap part of the script, asks for some input and then tries to do these again and fails again (of course).
So I am really at the same point that I was earlier - I can't get past this part of the install successfully.
I did try to connect to the both the db ad htmldb via sqlplus (e.g. username/pass@db and username/pass@htmldb) - and both worked, so I am pretty sure that the tnsnames entries are working fine.
Any thoughts?

    This appears to be because of low semaphores setting. Did you reboot your server after making the /etc/system parameter changes ?

    Check also if the t-bit is set:
    [root@vtl1g121 ~]# ls -dl /tmp
    drwxrwxrwt 11 root root 4096 Apr 10 11:44 /tmp
    This is needed to mark the filesystem/directory as temporary.
    Sometimes this can cause such problems also

    Hello, it took a little searching, but I found this in a note in the GRID installation guide for Linux/UNIX:
    Public IP addresses and virtual IP addresses must be in the same subnet.
    In your case, you are using two different subnets for the VIPs.

  • Installing Oracle 10g on Windows VISTA or Windows 7

    Hey,
    I am planning to purchase a laptop and i am concerned about installing Oracle 10g .
    So which of the Following OS is compatible?
    1) Windows VISTA
    2) Windows 7
    Many Thanks!!

    I found this solution in http://msutic.blogspot.com/2009/08/how-to-instal-oracle-client-11g-on.html
    It work for me. I´ve installed a Oracle 10.2.0.4 (vista e w2k8 x64) in a Windows 7 64 bits.
    Thanks to Marko Sutic !
    ========================================================
    To workaround this problem I've decided to edit refhost.xml file adding entry for Windows 7.
    * in production there are 2 files refhost.xml. I´ve edited both.
    Location of this file on my system:
    .\stage\prereq\db\refhost.xml
    .\stage\prereq\db_prereqs\db\refhost.xml
    This is excerpt from newly edited refhost.xml file:
    <CERTIFIED_SYSTEMS>
    <!--Microsoft Windows 7-->
    <OPERATING_SYSTEM>
    <VERSION VALUE="6.1"/>
    </OPERATING_SYSTEM>
    </CERTIFIED_SYSTEMS>
    New lines are added at the end of this excerpt after <!--Microsoft Windows 7-->. Notice version value=6.1.
    In addiction to Marko Sutic tip, I´ve edited too the file ./install/oraparam.ini adding the new value (6.1) to the message:
    [Certified Versions]
    #You can customise error message shown for failure, provide value for CERTIFIED_VERSION_FAILURE_MESSAGE
    Windows=5.0,5.1,5.2,6.0,6.1
    I´ve finished now the installation, and all sounds good.
    good luck

  • How to install Oracle 10g into Linux

    Hi All,

    Thanks Laura, tried the first one and it works. But I guess I am stuck again with the following error. Do I need to access to the server directly? Currently I am just connecting to the server via the VPN connection.

    Depending on the Unix Shell, you can use one of the following commands as examples to set the DISPLAY environment variable:
    - For csh: % setenv DISPLAY 192.168.1.128:0.0
    - For sh, ksh and bash: $ DISPLAY=192.168.1.128:0.0; export DISPLAY
    Use the following command to see what shell is being used:

    To enable client users to access the X Server, open an xterm, dtterm or xconsole as the user that started the session and type the following command:
    % xhost +
    To test that the DISPLAY environment variable is set correctly, run a X11 based program that comes with the native operating system such as 'xclock':
    % <full path to xclock.. see below>
    If you are not able to run xclock successfully, please refer to your PC-X Server or OS vendor for further assistance.
    Typical path for xclock: /usr/X11R6/bin/xclock

    And another workaround that seems to work can be found here:
    http://blogs.sun.com/roller/page/fintanr/20040803
    To quote from that page:
    Oracle 10g install on Solaris 10 workaround
    Quick work around for installing Oracle 10g on Solaris 10 (in our case on a v20z).
    After creating your staging area you run the Oracle installer and get an error similar to the following
    $ ./runInstaller
    Starting Oracle Universal Installer...
    Checking installer requirements...
    Checking operating system version: must be 5.6, 5.7, 5.8 or 5.9.    Actual 5.10
                                          Failed <<<<
    To work around this you need to edit the oraparam.ini file, in our case this is /export/ora/Disk1/install/oraparam.ini.
    Edit the section
    [Certified Versions]
    #You can customise error message shown for failure through CERTIFIED_VERSION_FAI
    LURE_MESSAGE
    Solaris=5.6,5.7,5.8,5.9

    [Certified Versions]
    #You can customise error message shown for failure through CERTIFIED_VERSION_FAI
    LURE_MESSAGE
    Solaris=5.6,5.7,5.8,5.9,5.10
    And thats it, just run through your install as normal.

  • 11g Install Failure, Listener Error.

    11g Install Failure, Listener.
    ORA-12514: TNS:listener does not currently know of service requested in connect

    I am attempting to install 11g, 11.1.0 onto a stand alone box which has Windows XP SP2 as the OS.
    The box is at present not networked and as is not on a domain. The computer name is homedb.
    I have installed the loopback adapter on 10.10.10.10 and updated my hosts file, the computer can resolve this to the computer name and vice versa.
    Upon installing 11g and the starter database, the install continues normally, succeeding with the Oracle Net Configuration Assistant. However when the Oracle Database Configuration Assistant is run, 89% of the way through an error is thrown as follows:
    Enterprise manager configuration failed due to the following error -
    Listener is not up. Start the listener and run EM configuration again.
    Refer to the log file at C:\Oracle\cfgtoollogs\dbca\emConfig. Log for more details.
    You can retry configuring this database with Enterprise Manager later by manually running C:\Oracle\product\11.1.0\db_1\bin\emca script.

    I have re run the db configuration again but it would not start because apparently there was no listener, running the Net Configuration Assistant makes no difference.
    All firewalls and anti virus software have been disabled for the purposes of this install.
    Do I need to manually register the listener with the database, if so how do I go about doing this?
    I have installed 10g on a standalone box before with no trouble, what have I missed here?, any help greatly appreciated.

    To answer my own question I fixed this by issuing the command
    netsh winsocks reset
    Winsocks deals with windows networking and can become corrupt through installs of software, virus cleaning, etc.
    Hope that helps,

  • Installing Oracle 10g on winxp 32 bit and getting error

    Hi,
    I have win 7 64 bit os installed .On which i have installed 32 bit winxp on the oracle virtual box.I m trying to install Oracle 10g on this.
    For which i have downloaded Oracle Dev Suite from oracle website.
    I have also installed Oracle SQL developer for writing queries.
    When i right click on Çonnections in the Connection pane i say new connection
    After which a window opens which asks me to fill database connection parameters viz.
    Connection name : HR_ORCL
    User Name : hr
    Password hr
    Connection Type : Basic
    Role : Default
    HostName : Localhost
    Port 1521
    SID : orcl
    And then i hit test when i get an error :

    What is causing this problem
    Help !!!

    I downloaded the oracle 10g developer suite disk1 and disk2 from the below link .

  • Unable to connect to database after htmldb install

    Let me clarify:
    I am using 10g (10.2.0.1.0)
    I just installed Application Server 10.1.3.0.0
    I two database instances one being the original I created on initial install of 10g.
    One additional database I wanted to use for the HTMLDB application.
    I successfully installed and can connect to the application server on http://myserver:7777/em
    And I can connect to the OEM for the database on http://myserver:5500/em.
    When I tried to login via command prompt to install the HTMLDB tools I get the following error.
    ERROR:
    ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified
    I have checked my tnsnames.ora, listen.or and sqlnet files. They all appear to be correct.
    I can even login through the net manager.

    You don't tell us the OS (what always is useful), but if it is Windows, a new installation changes the default ORACLE_HOME. Now Oracle searches in <NEW_ORACLE_HOME>\network\admin (in your case the new home is HTMLDB's home) for its net configuration files. You could copy the configuration files from the old location or set TNS_ADMIN to <OLD_ORACLE_HOME>\network\admin.

  • Re- Install Oracle 10g

    Greetings ,
    We recently had a hard disk failure on a test enviroment.The drive has been replaced.We would like to re-install oracle 10g on the new drive.
    Is the any method after the installion of replicating/copying the tablspaces as well as users from the live enviroment which is currenlty locted on a Linux platform?

    Yes, you can clone the live environment using RMAN

  • HTMLDB install

    i am about to test htmldb on 9.2.0.4 (32bits) on solaris 8. i see 10g for 64 bit solaris for download only. is this the one i should use? can someone clarify this for me? Thank you in advance

    you're probably not going to have much luck with the 64bit download, but you could try this work around (i haven't tested this, but it makes sense.): try grabbing a 10g companion cd for something like windows or linux. run that cd from a machine with a matching OS but point the installer at your solaris box. the htmldb install's done over sqlnet anyhow, so the db stuff should go okay for you. after that you'd just have to configure apache, and you should be up and running.
    good luck,

  • Error in installing oracel 10g ..need help

    hi,

    but wen i tried to install 9i it threw errors and 10 g also got corrupted.
    so i completely uninstalled 10g and tried to install new copy then it is throwing an error " cant continue installation as oracle serviceXE is already presesnt in your system.try to stop it and reboot and try installation."
    i uninstalled oracle 10g and service xe service is disabled in my services , but still i get the same error..
    i would be glad to hear a sollution to this problem..
    its

    The only certified product is the Oracle XE, 9i is not certified, that's why probably you got that error.
    The services entry is not found under the Oracle registry key.
    If I'm not mistaken it is found under
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services.
    But before you delete anything from the registry, I strongly recommend you take a backup of that specific entry, in case anything goes wrong you can restore the key.
    Delete the oracle service entry and try.

    Hi
    Here's the resolution that can work for you:
    Disable the "Print Spooler" service before running the installer.
    1.Open Control Panel: Start --> Settings --> Control Panel
    2.Double-click "Services"
    3.On the list of NT Services, right-click "Print Spooler"
    4.Select "Stop"
    5.Select "Properties"
    6.Under Startup Type, select "manual" or "disabled"
    7.Reboot your NT Server
    8.After rebooting, verify that the Print Spooler is still "stopped".
    9.Delete Program Files\Common Files\Installshield\Engine folder
    10.Re-run the installer.
    11.After installation, re-set the Print Spooler service to Startup type "Automatic" and start the service.
    Also, have a look at the installshield page: http://consumer.installshield.com/kb.asp?id=Q108167
