HTMLDB installation in Unix

Hi,
I installed htmldb in sun solaris Oralce 9204-64 bit. Installation is great and get it configured. When I tried to access the login page, the login button looks ugly and when I clicked it gives me an error.
I use the same install file that I use for my windows htmldb, is there a different file to use for unix? where should I go from here?
thx,
Lisa

Hi Lisa,
Sounds like your system can't locate the images, style sheets and Java Script files. Please make sure that you have added the /i/ alias to your apache.conf file, that the path is actually pointing to the directory where you put the HTML DB image folder and that you have re-started apache after modifying apache.conf. For more information, please check the installation information in the readme.html that came with the HTML DB download file.
Hope this helps,
Marc

  • Newbie Quesiton on HTMLDB Installation

Installed HTMLDB with Oracle 10g companion disk.
    (1) Seems htmldb installation could not installed on the previous existing oracle home.
I installed Oracle 10g release 2 db server before, I tried to install htmldb into this home, but not allowed. I wish to make sure, is that mean HTMLDB must be installed in a seperate Oracle Home.
    (2) There is a separate HTMLDB.zip download available in Oralce website, could I just unzip this to my previously installed oracle home, and config to make HTMLDB works, how to achieve it.
    (3) After installed in a seperation home, I could not access previouse database connection.
    C:\> sqlplus scott/tiger@ora10g
always report "ORA-12154 : TNS not able to ..." error.
How could I solve this problem.
    Thanks in advance.

If u dont have Oracle HTTP server before u install Companion CD u must have HTTP server for accessing HTMLDB so that HTTP server with HTMLDB 1.5 is installed in Diff Oracle Home.
If u have database server 10g before then just download the zip file ,extract it and login thru sys as sysdba account and run the htmldbin.sql there .U should follow the process in the documentation of HTMLDB .Just do that and then u can login to any scott or sys account with the existing database 10g server.

  • Problem with Oracle 8.1.7 Installation on UNIX AIX 4.3

    Hi,
I tried to install Oracle Enterprise Edition on UNIX AIX system. After all pre installation task, when I run the installer (./runInstaller) I have the following error message:
    java.lang.InternalError: Can't connect to X11 window server using '192.168.0.150
:0.0' as the value of the DISPLAY variable.
Please help me to fix my problem
    Thanks
    Omer

Is the machine you're trying to install on the
machine your display is running on?
    If not, doing a
    'xhost + name_of_machine_you_are_installing_on'
on the machine your display is running on should do the
    trick.
    Hope that helps.

  • SRM-MDM installation on Unix OS

    Hi Gurus,
We are facing some problems in installing MDM Server on Unix machine. I have downloaded the SRM-MDM Catalog 2.0 content from market place. It contains the folder Master_Data_Server and two .tar files. We are not getting the ...VM.bin file specified in the Installation Guide after using untar command.
    Your inputs are highly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Jitesh Talreja

    Hi Jitesh,
did you try an older version of SRM-MDM 2.0, whether the file is contained there? I could not find anything about it in any guide.
We had a message about a file javavm.tar (if I remember right), which was missing during installation of Web AS under Windows. However, this file was eventually not required.

  • Where is the virtual images directory for an ORACLEXE HTMLDB installation?

    Hi,
I've already got a standalone installation of HTMLDB which has an /images/ directory on my file server containing all gifs/themes/templates/css files etc. I've created an application that I'm going to use for my business and I've changed some of the underlying giff's and css files.
On another machine I've just installed Oracle Express Edition (as it's free for commercial use) which has an integrated HTMLDB environment, that is the same as the standalone one as far as I can tell, except that it does not appear to have an /images/ directory stored on the file system??
I've done a complete search and nothing is found. If I type http://127.0.0.1:8080/i/ into my web browser all the files and directories are displayed! Does any one know the location of these files or how the HTTP listener is translating /i/?
I need to mod these existing files in order to correctly display my business application from my other standalone installation of htmldb.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Kev

    Hi Kev,
you can find detailed instructions here: http://daust.blogspot.com/2006/03/where-are-images-of-application.html
I'll update the instructions if you have more questions,

  • HOWTO: start/stop htmldb processes in Unix

I've installed 10gR2 DB, and then installed HTMLDB from the companion CD. I could access the server no problems, so my configuration is good and working.
The issue is how do I start/stop the processes. It appears (from this forum) that Windows installs create a service but that's of course no good to me as I'm on AIX.
I'm a database guy, not an iAS guy, and it took me a while to figure out the way to make this all work.
First, set your ORACLE_HOME to the HTTP home (not the DB home).
In ORACLE_HOME/opmn/bin is the magic command:
    ./opmnctl startall
    or
    ./opmnctl stopall
    Seems to do the job.

That's almost right - that command will start & stop the Oracle HTTP Server (Apache). If Apache is down, then there is no way to access HTML DB via a web browser. However, users - if they had access - could still access the database, of course.
There is no such thing as the "HTML DB Process", as HTML DB is nothing more than a schema in the database.
    Thanks,

  • Client installation on Unix (HPUX)

I can not install the client on an HPUX box, here is what I have done:
I have downloaded and extracted 10g Enterprise/Standard Edition into /home/oracle/Disk1 [the client software should be here?]
I have successfully installed the 10.2 Server on my HPUX (11.11) box.
The Oracle database installation guide 10.2 for hpux PA-RISC, indicates in section "1.3 Oracle Database Installation Types" states 'Oracle Client is installed separately. You cannot install Oracle Database Client during an Oracle Database installation.' This section also lists Enterprise, Standard, and Custom as the types of installation. I used Standard when I installed the server.
I now want to install the client.
The Oracle database client installation guide 10.2 for hpux PA-RISC, indicates in section "1.3 Oracle Client Installation Types"; Instant Client, Administrator, Runtime and Custom as the types of installation. So... I am expecting to see these options when I run the installer..... Here is what I am doing:
    1. CD to /home/oracle/Disk1
    2. ./runInstaller
    3. Installer comes up with the following options:
    a. Basic Installation
    i. Enterprise Edition
    ii. Standard Edition
    b. Advanced Installation
I have tried various combinations of the above options, but I never presented options to select CLIENT like installations.
If you have any ideas, please help... Thanks

You must download a separate cpio.gz file for the client

  • Oracle HTMLDB installation

I have two server environments, Database servers and application servers. I see that Oracle HTMLDB is a database centric web application builder (the database and application are clubbed together on the same server).
Is there a way that I can install the application part on the application server and use the database on a database server. If there is a way then how do I establish a connection between the two servers (database and application).

    See
    http://asktom.oracle.com/pls/ask/f?p=4950:8:::::F4950_P8_DISPLAYID:376767427785#33065882053450
read the entire thread in fact. It goes into great detail as to why the concept of app server was born, how the database server can itself be considered as a scalable, flexible app server, etc.
HTML DB obviates the need, in most cases, to even have a app server because...it is an app server!
