HTMLEDITOR DOESN'T WORK ON NETSCAPE!!!

Hi all,
I am using Netscape4.74 as my browser, an applet which uses some swing components and HtmlEditor kit components. I have archived all required class(swing classes and HtmlEditor class) in a jar and supplying it to my applet through archive attribute.
It is working perfectly fine on a Internet Explorer5.50, but if I try the same on Netscape4.74 all the swing components appear without any problem but the problem is with these HtmlEditor stuffs. I am trying to display a simple html code(with html,head,body and my text enclosed within p tag and closing tags for all these) but that doesn't appear atall.
I thought I have done some mistake in my code, so I tried to run an applet from the site

to my suprise even this applet doesn't work on a Netscape4.74. They are sending complete swing jar still it doesn't work.
Can You guys tell me what might be the problem, should I include some other plug-ins..or something else.
Please help me, I have tried alot on this. Direct me to any link where I can find some information on this.

I finally got it to "seemingly" work
but by NOT using 1.4.1 attribute..

Java 1.4.2 Plugin doesn't work on Netscape 7.1 on Linux

Hi,
When I run the Java 1.4.2 plugin on Red Hat Linux 7.3, I get the following error when Netscape starts up:
INTERNAL ERROR on Browser End: No manager for initializing factory?
System error?:: Success
After that Netscape just quits. If I remove libjavaplugin_oji.so, then Netscape starts fine but doesn't have Java. Netscape 7.1 doesn't work with Java 1.4.1_03 on Linux either.
Netscape 7.02 does work with both versions of the Java plugin on Linux. Has anyone gotten Netscape 7.1 running with Java? Does anyone have suggestions?

It didn't work for me .... The applet started then netscape came back to the prompt with the following error. (System is Suse Linux 9.1 and Netscape is 7.2) Any Ideas??
I am also listing the sybolic link to the jre.

Why the html textarea tag doesn't work in Netscape 4.76 running SunOS5.5.1? I can get focus into it but can't type anything.

Netscape sacks why my JApplet doesn't work??

It's me again. I got it to work in IE5.0 to work with japplet after downloading the JRE and HTML converter but but it doesn't work in Netscape 4. I see the the applet got message on it saying "downloading applet" but never finished download. What do you think is wrong with it?

Try to copy %JAVA_HOME%\jre\bin\npjava32.dll to the plugins folder of netscape and restart your browser.

Flash Player doesn't work on Safari, Netscape, nor Mozilla

I've downloaded the flash player but it's funny that it works
on Internet Explorer but it doesn't work on the other browsers. I
downloaded it from here --->

Why is that? I don't like to use Internet Explorer and I rather use
Mozilla or Safari.
Then, why my computer says "You don't have sufficient disk
space to complete this installation. Please free 5000 KB and try
again" when I tried to download it from Safari/Mozilla????... the
computer has around 142 GB free to use. I'm so confused.

With that issue, the most common problem is that drive C: is
not the hard drive. FP is hard-coded to C: and won't dl to another

1.1 bytecode doesn't work on W2k ie5?

One step forward and two steps back...
I compiled my applet using the -target 1.1 option, so that everyone could use my applet without plug-in. I could get it to work with a plug-in, but students for some reason had a hard time following the directions involved in loading the plug-in and complained bitterly...
So I asked the forum for help, and the suggestion was to compile to 1.1 bytecode. But for some reason, the applet did not work in ie5 on windows 2000. Netscape 6.2 asked me for the 1.3 plug-in when I tried to run it there. (But it already had loaded on it the 1.4 plug-in). The applet did work in Netscape and ie 5 in win98, and (ironically enough!) in ie6 on winxp!
1) I thought 1.1 bytecode was universal for everything above ie3 and netscape 4!? Is this a false statement?
2) Is there something with w2k that causes this?
3) Is there some way to fix this problem for ie in w2k? (Other than to use the plug-in?) Ie returns the error message "applet not inited".
I am not entirely sure that the applet will run on a computer that doesn't have a plug-in loaded (as I don't have any computers that don't have some sort of plug-in on them).
The idea was to get my students to be able to run the darn applet with practically anything... but if this doesn't work I'm going back to using the plug-in.

Actually I don't think w2k is the problem.. I just tried it on my w98 computer with N 4.7, which has plug-in 1.3 and it looks like it is giving me a null pointer on an image which I load in the initialization of the bFieldPanel class.

Java Plugin won't work in Netscape 7.1

I'm using Windows XP Home with Netscape 7.1, and the Java plugin won't work.
Java Plug-in 1.4.2_05 for Netscape Navigator (DLL Helper) is listed 7 times in Help>About:Plugins;
The Java Plugin works in Internet Explorer (I use the Test Java Virtual Machine to determine this). With Netscape, I just get the "Click here to get the plugin" window, and believe me, I've clicked here many times, and gone through the installation process, and it still doesn't work. I've uninstalled Java, rebooted, and installed it with the browsers closed, and it still doesn't work. Everything else in Netscape seems to be working properly.
Under Edit>Preferences>Advanced in Netscape I have "Enable Java" checked.
I posted this problem in the Windows-BBS Netscape and Mozilla forum, http://www.windowsbbs.com/showthread.php?t=33994, and tried everything suggested there, but it still didn't work.
Anybody have any suggestions?

I was facing a similar problem. I think the problem is with different versions of JRE. For example, I was trying to associate with Netscape the JRE version of 1.4.2_01 without any success. But on associating jdk version 1.4.2_05, it started working fine.

I do have java runtime installed. I used java SDK 1.4.1. What runtime do I need installed for applets made with this version of java? I have the 1.4.1 runtime installed. It doesn't make sense to me that it would work in Netscape but not Internet Explorer. Any help would be great. Thax

LC + ActiveDirectory + LDAP over SSL = doesn't work

I installed Active Directory Certificate Services. Now I want setup LDAP over SSL. Unfortunatelly it doesn't work. I pressed "Test" and always get "Invalid username or invalid password" (

Cache doesn't work with Apace-WebLogic bridge

Hi.We noticed a problem with the download performance of our Java applet with Netscape. It's a tiny applet of 300K that takes only 2 seconds to load using IE, because it is already cached, and with Netscape it is always reloaded and the cache doesn't work.The applet is located on a WebLogic server, and we access it through an Apache server that redirects all requests to the WebLogic server. We noticed that when we access the WebLogic server directly, Netscape cache works fine. However when using the bridge, Netscape ignores the cache, while in IE the cache still works.The Apache server is installed on RedHat Linux 7.1. The bridge is a WebLogic module developed by BEA (the makers of WebLogic) that extends the Apache functionality and enables it to act as a proxy and leave the client (browser) totally unaware of the redirection. The requests are sent to the Apache server and the responses appear to be coming back from it as well.We need to understand why the cache doesn't work when using the bridge. Can you please tell us if you know of this problem or not, and if not -- point us in some direction to check for the problem.Thanks.

My Flash doesn't work on IE 8

I am a webmaster with an existing flash on

No changes to the flash in about a year. Works great on IE 7,
Firefox, Netscape, Opera, etc....
Downloaded IE 8 Beta 2 this morning and the flash doesn't
work.... Displays an x in the box (like a missing pix on an html
page).
Called Microsoft and they basically told me take a long walk
off a short pier.... So much for them caring about how their beta
works....
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Well, all your object embed tags are correct so it's
obviously the Beta problem.
Nothing can do about it.

OAS 4.0.7 doesn't work anymore after installing Developer 6

Hello,
After I installed Developer 6, my OAS 4.0.7 doesn't work anymore.
I can't start the ORB processes.
Has anybody encounter this problem? I am running Oracle 8.0.5,
Designer 2.1.1, Developer 6, and OAS 4.0.7 on my PC at home.

I'm in the process of installing D2K6, have
just installed OAS 4.0.7, and wanted to get

Help me cure my installation upgrade issues -- itunes doesn't work!

After installing the update (6) of iTunes, all I was getting was the brief flash of the program that others described. I have read through the various postings and have tried...
the various cures, such as deleting files and deleting Norton (even though I have anti virus, not Internet security), checking the task manager, deleting the SC Info.sidb file, I tried installing Quick Time indepedent from iTunes, I tried installing an older version (4) of itunes after deleting qt and itunes, and now that doesn't work.
Any ideas would be most appreciated!

Thanks for your suggestions, but somehow I fixed it. After all of the failures to successfully install it, and deleting all prior and current versions, and deleting Norton Anti Virus, and checking the task manager, and looking at the msconfig... I then downloaded version 6 with explore, instead of netscape, and instead of saving it to the hard drive, I just elected to open the program. And... it worked! I have no idea if this is going to work for anyone else, but after 3 days of tinkering, this is the only thing that worked for me.
