Http listener to port 8087, can't edit Database_homepage.url to fix link

Installing Oracle XE on windows, I've used the instructions in the User Guide at "Changing the Listener Port Number for HTTP Connection Requests" to have the http listener run on port 8087. The last and optional step is to edit the file Database_homepage.url so that it knows about 8087. I'm not able to edit that file, I guess .url extension is a shortcut, and no text editor I have will open it. There must be a workaround, does anyone know what it is?

I have no idea how I could not have figured that out...probably a good thing that I took most of the day off today. Thanks.

Hi Liam! What I mean is that I have a parent page with a link in my breadcrumb that I would like to remove the URL on it, no <a href>. So the actual word would appear in the breadcrumb but wouldn't be clickable.

SJSAS 8.0.0_01 - Virtual-server/http-listener

Hi!
I want to set up three domains to be mapped to three different webapps on the same physical server. Since every HTTP-listener belongs to one virtual-server and there can't be two listener for the same port, how can I set up three different listener using the same port and different virtual servers?
A different problem: Why can't I choose a webapp that is deployed within a Enterprise Application to be the default webapp of a virtual server?

No, there is no listener interferring on the same port, that is for sure. Actually, you can't even create a listener for a taken port.
Unfortunately I can't edit the router configuration, but that's a different problem.
Here's an extract of the listener/virtual server configuration of my domain.xml, perhaps someone can see my mistake.
This is how I tried to set up the port 8008 for two different domains to different webapps ( which gave me a adress-is-already-in-use(8008)-error):

No Http server on port 8080 with 10g Express Edition ( TNS-12631 error)

I downloaded the Oracle 10g Express Edition for Microsoft Windows and tried to install the software on 3 pcs.
2 pc works but mine is not working.
All works well during installation but when I want to connect to the home web page, it displays error (http://127.0.0.1:8080/apex)
It isnormal because I have no process running under 8080 port.
But I don't know why there is not an http server on port 8080.

For example, I have Tomcat installed on my PC and I can launch it easily.
So that means that port 8080 is completly free.

10g Express Edition install doesn't start HTTP server on port 8080

I've just done (several) installs of 10g XE on a Windows XP (SP2) box which appears to install correctly, but there's nothing listening on port 8080 (which is available)
The services OracleServiceXE and OracleXETNSListener are both started (and can be stopped/restarted too).
Looking in C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\10.2.0\server\config\log\postDBCreation.log (and other log files in that directory), I see some worrying lines like this:

Also running SQLPLUS from a CMD window fails:

Interesting error. See http://oracle-unix.blogspot.com/2007/08/ora-12638-credential-retrieval-failed.html for a blog entry (and workaround).
As for the 8080 web connection failing, I assume that this is related - the listener unable to hand off the web browser request to the Dispatcher.
Also note that by default it only listens on localhost port 8080. So using the hostname or IP of your machine won't work until that default config is changed.

FRM-10142- The HTTP listener is not working in mypa at port 9001 in form11g

I new in forms 11g and I upgrading the forms 6i to 11g and I installed the forms11g successfully when I run the form after compiling it it give me the error.

Unknown port number or missing HTTP listener

I try to make a Application Server Connection (with JDeveloper), but I get the message "unknown port number or missing HTTP listener". Could anybody tell me how could I fix the problem ? More details will be appreciated because I have no background in Oracle AS.

Portconfig error for http listen port

I know that this has been posted alot, I tried to do whatever following all the suggestion in other threads, still no luck.
I installed 10gas (10.1.2) infrastructure 10.1.2 on Solaris 9, and everything was running well. When I tried to change the http listen port from 7777 to 80 following the instruction in the administrator's guide (ch4 Manage port),
log in as root, execute the following command
# cd $ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache/bin
# chown root:root .apachectl
# chmod 6750 .apachectl
log in as the installation user (oracle) and execute the following command to configure ...

Changing the HTTP Server Listen port to a value < 1024 on Unix systems requires that the HTTP Server be changed to run as root. As specified in the the Managing Ports chapter of the Oracle Application Server Adminstrator's Guide, this can be done as follows:
cd $ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache/bin
chown root .apachectl
chmod 6750 .apachectl

There is only one port for listening, the listen port.
The Port entry is what OHS returns to the browser.
Example:
Webcache runs on port 80, OHS runs on 7778.
Then Listen is set to 7778, and Port is set to 80.
This will ensure that all URLs constructed for the browser are not pointing to port 7778 even though OHS is internally listening on 7778.

The http listener is not running in domain-name on port 8889

Normally it should show as 8889, y is it showing 12320???
Did you restart your OC4J and rerun your Forms?

IChat File Transfer port issue (can't listen to port 5190 and 7777)

Greentings ladies and gentlemen,
I need help opening port 5190 and 7777 for ichat server file transfers. As for now, my situation can be described as below:
(1)I have a ichat server in a mac mini(2010, newest model as for today) running a fully updated version of MACOSX SERVER 10.6 inside a lab in my university.
(2)As for the ichat server itself, text, voice, video between 2 or more persons are all working great. As for clients the latest version of ichat and pidgin(text only) are being used. The only problem is the lack of file transfer between ichat clients.
(3)The server is behind a router (YAMAHA RTX 1200). I am 100% sure that the router is correctly configured to allow packets in and out of the port 5190 and 7777, among the other necessary ports. All the other ports are open and working correctly. I also manually disabled the firewall of a windows7 laptop and tested packet transfers on both ports and both worked fine.
(4)As I said before, the server is inside my university lab. I made sure that all ports between 1023~65535 are open in the univesity gateway/backbone network.

As you can see my firewall settings are not being reflected on the actual server firewall.
Is there any way I could just force the server into listening the port?

First off, realize there is no association between your firewall rules and netstat.
Just because your firewall is letting traffic in that does not mean it will appear in your netstat.
netstat -a will show you a list of ports that are in use - i.e. there is some process listening to (or writing to) that port. That is independent of whether the firewall permits the traffic (e.g. the firewall could well allow traffic in on 5190, but unless there's a process listening to 5190 you won't see it in the netstat).
Secondly, IIRC iChat file transfers are client-to-client therefore it might not be your server, or your server's firewall or your server's network that's the issue - the client will need to have a firewall configured to allow incoming traffic from other iChat clients.
Does that help shed some light on things? (it isn't clear whether your post is referring to the server or the client side of things).

Can not seem to connect to an HTTPS with a port number

I am building an application that needs to connect to an https with a port number...
If the url is 'https://xxx.yyy.zzz' and the port is 5000 what would I use? I have found examples with out a port number but not with a port number...

That is definitely not correct in this situation.
I think what is throwing me is that they specified
the the host as 'https://xxx.yyy.zzz' where really
they want an SSL connection... I think anyways...
Generally there are two situations.
1. There are two possible connections/protocols. One is SSL only and the other is https.
2. They got carried away with the documentation. They added a section describing how SSL works. The protocol within SSL is still http. That is the definition of https though.

HTTP Listener Problem

i write this post also Apex forum but i couldnt get any answer for weeks. I guess this is a hard question.
Re: i can't reach the remote host
as i posted above url, i cannot reach the remote host via typing host address in browser. I can connect in sqlplus, plsql, there is no browser. But i cannot reach that remote host from browser.
I did:
installed the apex 3.1.1 successfully and i validate it.
i also run the apex_epg_config file.
set the http port with dbms_xdb.sethttpport functionso, browser said to me "cannot find server". I am posting result of "lsnrctl status", so it might guide you.

i think that a line that includes http listening is missing. Because i have another machine, i can connect it from sqlplus,plsql,browser. And i typed "lsnrctl status" in its terminal the http listener line is seeming as this :

In general, APEX can be accessed either by using the Listener/DBMS_XDB or the Apache HTTP server access.
It appears that you want to use the Listener/DBMS_XDB access. In which case, the theory is:
User requests connection to host:port
Listener on 'host' listens on port, as directed by DBMS_XDB
Listener passes request to DBMS_XDB (using shared server technique) which passes it to DBMS_EPGTo get listener to monitor the port, you need to use DBMS_XDB to register the http (or ftp) port to the listener. That is done using the dbms_xdb.gethttpport and verified using dbms_xed.gethttpport

HTTP Listener problems

Good day all,
I have some problems regarding HTTP Listener:
1. I cannot startup my www listener on port
80, only Node Manager listener can be
started. It gives out the errors:
OWS-08811 & OWS-08851.
2. I even cannot either view or edit the
configuration for my HTTP listener.
When I clicked on the properties such
as Network, Server, etc, it just doesn't
show up the configuration that I needed
to see.
I have already checked the environment variable: WV_GATEWAY_CFG, and it is in the right path. What could possibly went wrong?

As far as I know, there is no utilities to view the configuration as you have mentioned. All configurations are in configure files,
they are
httpd.conf
jserv.conf
jserv.properties
zone.properties
If someone does know such a utility, please tell me. :-)

I am getting the following error while installing the oracle apps via rapid install.
RW-50015:HTTP Listener is not responding

Hi,
thanks for the responce. the following is the error portion of the autoconfig file.
i actually ran autoconfig script after unlocking the apps user. still there many places script is erroring out due to account is locked.
any help would be greatly appreciated.
