HTTP Proxy Blocks RTSP Streaming

Hi all, at my work we have a proxy server required to get on to the web. I setup OSX in the network pref with the HTTP proxy but when i activate this all of my rtsp streaming fails. I notice there is an independent setting for an RTSP proxy but we don't have this.
Not that ut helps but our XP machines are setup for the proxy and they're QT streaming is fine.
Cheers

Sorted, had to type the name of the server that i wanted to bypass the proxy in the text box under the prefs.

  • Recieve http or/and rtsp stream on iphone possible?

hi i made up a LAN at home with own server and some media on it.
I was setting up a stream on the pc with VLC media player.
I created a homepage on the server which is linked to the vlc streams.
The question is: Is there a possibility to use the Link on the homepage to stream the media to the iphone.
I tried with android and Nokia and all other stuff and it worked fine. But iphone got troubles.
The Point is i want to open the homepage click the link and see the stream. Can i set the iphone to open the homepage with safari but when i click the link to open a specific app to recieve the link? (the other phones automatically open their mediaplayer and play the stream.)
All in one: is it possible to recieve a http or rtsp stream with iphone via homepagelink? (also for ipod touch)

  • -5408 error on all RTSP streams via QuickTime (after a near-disk failure)

    Hi Folks.
Today I had a near catastrophic failure on my startup drive: following a simple permissions repair routine, after a shutdown the startup drive failed to mount. It took DiskWarrior to get it back again, but most of my preference files were corrupted. With Time Machine most of these were restored successfully however.
Everything is back in order, except that when I try to connect to any QuickTime compatible RTSP stream, I end up getting a -5408 error.
The streams I am connecting to are from IP cameras which have RTSP and h264. I know they're working fine because I have another MacBook beside me also running 10.6.8 which is pulling them down fine, doing exactly the same thing.
I also know that the streams I am connecting to are using TCP, not UDP. Normally when buffering it starts at about 3 seconds and goes down, but at present it is switching transports immediately and counting down from 8.7 seconds before timing out.
This is happening in any browser with the QuickTime Plugin, and QuickTime Player itself (both the X version and the old 7 version).
So it would seem to me that TCP is being blocked within the OSX system when trying to use port 554. And I do not have firewall turned on.
I know this has been caused by something being affected due to the need for a recovery, but short of installing a clean version of Snow Leopard, I wondered if there was a way of checking transports and seeing if this can be fixed more easily.
    Hope you can help.
    Paul C.

Well, given no-one could shed any light on this, I'd like to let you all know that I worked it out myself.
    Here's how the story ends:
A few days after the near-disk-death experience, I went to use my Express Card modem to connect to 3G wireless and found that all of my network settings preferences were gone (airport/VPNs etc...). It couldn't even recognise my Sierra Wireless express card at all. This was even after restoring my entire preferences folder in my Home folder using Time Machine, which got most things back to normal.
Some research in these discussion forums found that network settings are not stored in your home folder's library, but on your startup drive's /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration folder. It has these files in it:
    preferences.plist
    com.apple.airport.preferences.plist
    com.apple.PowerManagement.plist
    com.apple.network.identification.plist
    com.apple.smb.server.plist
    com.apple.nat.plist
    NetworkInterfaces.plist
    com.apple.Boot.plist
So I used Time Machine to restore an older version of that folder, and hey presto, all my network settings returned.
And then I connected to a page where RTSP wasn't working in via QuickTime, and it worked.
I'm still not sure which file contained the problem with RTSP over TCP, and that still doesn't explain why a different user on this same machine I setup had no problems.
Not that I care anymore, because my MacBook is now back the way it was. It seems...
I highly recommend DiskWarrior for when strange things start happening to your Mac, or if a drive/partition disappears. It can find and restore things that other 'salvage' type disk recovery apps cannot.
    PC.

  • Need confirmation that my rtsp streaming settings for the WVC54GCA are correct

So I recently set up the WVC54GCA for remote viewing over the internet. I use Verizon DSL with the Westell Versalink Gateway 327W, with the latest firmware (4.4.3) I was able to forward an alternate HTTP port (1025) enabling both TCP/UDP to my cams static IP. I was also able to forward the RTSP port (554) enabling both TCP/UDP to my cam's static IP. My problem is that my router will not forward any more ports, other than 1025 and 554.
There is a setting on the camera for RTP data port (listed as port 5000) and I cannot forward port 5000. I have tried changing the cam setting to a bunch of different ports other than 5000 (6881, 1024, 1900, etc.) but no matter what I try, none of the other ports can be opened through my router. It appears to work via the routers firmware (i.e. it looks just like the setting for 1025 and 554, which do forward) but when I check the port using canyouseeme.org or GRC the port is listed as closed or stealthed.
I am able to view the cam from my office at rtsp://camname:554/xxxxx using Quicktime or Realplayer.  However, neither my phone nore my buddies can connect.
My question, since I can view the mobile streaming feed outside of my LAN using Realplayer or Quicktime, is "Am I configured properly for mobile (rtsp) streaming?"  Is this a cellphone issue rather then a configuration issue?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Sorry for the above post, I confirmed my cam is properly streaming mobile video.  The video feed was accessed using a Samsung Omnia and Blackberry Curve.
I am now home and confirm that even though I set up port forwarding for port 5000, that port is listed as closed via canyouseeme.org.  The feed works though, so I'm happy.

  • Http proxy

I got a proxy (https) and I added to my wifi setting.
It always wants me the username and password, I write these correct but it appears again.
What I have to do to use it?
I tested the proxy on my desktop and it worked there but not on iPad?
    Please suggest me.

i dont think there is have had a quick google and cant find anything but might be worth spending a bit of time searching, theres mixed opion how apple handles https proxy some say that even though you put the details in under http the device detects weather its http or https but other say apple can handle https, we use a http proxy at work and I get the user authentication popping up when certain apps are open i.e facebook but that cause facebook is blocked. on your desktop did you put the same address and port for http and https traffic? also is your desktop a pc or mac?

    Hi,
You have to do the Proxy settings in System Management----->System Administration.

  • Simple http proxy

What I'm trying to do is write an http proxy. It should resend client's requests unaltered to the designated http server (Host parameter in the request) , then stream the content back to the client. For certain responses (text/html) I'll need to alter the streams reaching the client. Can anyone help with some suggestions? I'm a bit stuck here, especially because the same code runs on linux (jdk 6) but with tons of broken pipe exceptions, and it won't send anything to the browser when the proxy runs on windows. Which is the best way to stream/process the response I get from the remote server?

You're telnetting and HTTP'ing to the same port, right?
What do you mean no input? From the browser, from the server's point of view?
    Or vice-versa?
All the details of how a proxy should work, is spelled out in the HTTP RFC doc. I can't recall the RFC number.
Do a Google on "HTTP RFC" and you'll probably find it.

  • Packet Data, HTTP proxy

I know the blackberrys connect via port 554 through RTSP Proxy.  I was wondering by editing the NV items of the 8130 if you could configure the 8130 to connect to a HTTP Proxy throught port 8080 to connect to the internet by editing the NV items.
On  NV item number 924, the IP address is 68.28.31.20 and I wanted to know if it would be possible to change that IP to a HTTP web address for a different Internet proxy and only allow packet data to be transfered by using the dial code #777?
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Ravi
You can use the java HTTP adapter post method. You need to write a UDF inside the message mapping to get the payload data from the URL parameter.
For example if the parameter 'keyvalue' contains the data, then you need to use that name in sender HTTP adapter URL parameter section.
    example:
Once you do that the payload data will come in the message header in sap PI.
Then you need to write an UDF to fetch the value from header
    sample code:
You can use maximum 6 parameters in the URL.

  • Teamviewer with HTTPs Proxy on Ironport S160 not working

I activated the HTTPS Proxy on our Ironport S160 . To start with I created decrypt rule that puts all request on passthru.
Now everything is working except Teamviewer.
I created a UserAgent identity für DynGate and included this identity in the no.de rule.
A GREP gives me this output
    CONNECT tunnel://master12.teamviewer.com:443/ - PASSTHRU_CUSTOMCAT_7-no.dp-useragent.dyngate.id-NONE-NONE-NONE-DefaultGroup
    CONNECT tunnel://95.211.37.202:443/ - PASSTHRU_WEBCAT_7-no.dp-useragent.dyngate.id-NONE-NONE-NONE-DefaultGroup
Could anybody give me a hint as to what i need to to get Teamviewer working.
If disable the https proxy Teamviewer is working again.

    Hi Donny,
    thanks for your repley.
Since this went a little deeper into the ironport config then my expertise in this matter, I consultet our Cisco partner.
He found out that there is a setting that is only available through the cli that applies to this problem.
Advancedproxyconfig->MISCELLANEOUS->Would you like to block tunneling of non-SSL transactions on SSL Ports?
    ->Yes
I can´t say much about it but it might point someone else with the same problem in the right direction.
Anyway Teamviewer 9 is now working with https proxy enable. Teamviewer ist set on passthru.

  • WSA certificate options for https proxy

Should an L1K intermediate cert from Entrust be recognized by the WSA? When I try to go to a website that is using an L1K Entrust cert the WSA is blocking the site.
    Date: Wed, 18 Feb 2015 02:36:23 GMT
    Username: <removed>
    Source IP: 192.168.201.70
    URL: GET https://<removed>/
    Category: Government and Law
    Reason: UNRECOGNIZED_ROOT_CERT
    Notification: CERT_INVALID

WSA does has Entrust cert however not for L1K.
You might want to export that certificate to your local machine and imported to the WSA HTTPS proxy Custom Trusted Certificates.
Normally i used Firefox and not using WSA as proxy as initial connection then get the cert from the remote site and save it locally then import it to the WSA HTTPS cert.
You might want to review the HTTPS log as well in WSA and set the log level to debug to get more details as why is failing.
    Hope this helps

JMF does not. JMF only plays RTP-protocol streams.I doubt it.....though I have never tried to play RTSP streams using JMF but seeing following links I do think client side RTSP is supported by JMF:

  • Https pages blocked

    Hello,
Recently, safari (I've tried firefox too) cannot open web pages with https such as my bank, hotmail, and every other website I use that has secure pages. The message is: "safari could not open the page ... because the server is not responding." I have tried empty cache, reset safari, repaired permissions, all to no avail. Can anyone please help me?

It seems to be a "security" problem introduced with 10.5.6.
I opened a case with Apple 2 days after the 10.5.6 update came out (I applied the combo update), the only thing you can do is to try to remove the phising check in the Safari prefs, but please be aware that this is not solving the problem.
I was the first one writing (look for my other posts in the forums) of this problem, and now seems that thousands of upgraders (to 10.5.6) are suffering the same issue.
on my macbook all the "standard" operations (init, reset, cache, proxy, security, little snitch, permissions, repair, new user..etc.etc.etc.) didn't solve the problem.
on my g4 powerbook with 10.5.5 the issue is not present.
with my macbook's wife, from scratch to leopard 1.5.6, very same problem, symptoms are:
    - around 70% of https sites blocked (problem may be on the new OS process demanded to manage certificates).
    - Inability to read and handle the cookies from https sites (it seems that Mac OS believe that the source who want to modify the cookie is not safe... don't ask me why!)
    - slowness of dns lookup (it applies on ISP's DNS and also on other DNS sources. eg: OpenDNS).
    Temporary solution?
use an "alternative" way to surf... (Parallels, VM..., Sun's VM).
it seems that Opera is "less" affected by the problem (I'm not sure if they use the internal OS procs to check https sites).
The problem, let me highlight again, seems to be on how MacOSX now treats https/certificates/phising/proxies...
Hope to have a solution soon.

  • How do I create a Https Proxy server

    hi,

This is very URGENT for me.
    Thanks
    Sujith Varghese

    Hi Varghese,
Reading the thread I am able to make out u r facing the same problem as I do.
    current scenario#1:
    Machine#1 client (using URLConnection("https://...") ----> Machine#2 (Server https port)
    what I want scenario#2
    Machine#3 client (using URLConnection("https://...") ---> Machine#1 (Proxy for https)----> Machine#2 (Server https port)
    In scenario#1
    - I have a Client machine at Location#1 which can connect to on Location#2
    - I only have SSH connection to machine at Location#1
now this scenario#2 is what I would like to run so that
    - I am able to connect to mc#2 at loc#2 from a machine at loc#3 with mc#3
    - effectively starting a https proxy at location number mc#1 at loc#1.
Hope that clears the problem domain.
any help will be greatly appreciated.
