    #ASG port = port_num
Has anyone encountered this issue ??

Port numbers less than 1024 are privileged ports on Unix/Linux. In order for OHS to run on one of the privileged port (e.g. 81 and 441 in your case) you must enable OHS to run as root. By default OHS runs a non-root user, the user that installed Oracle Application Server.
So to start with installer do not specify custom (static) ports and complete the installation. OHS will be assigned some non-privileged port by installer. Post installation follow the instructions here to change the ports to 81 and 441:

  • Http server configuration with mod_ntlm and mod_plsql

I don't know if this is the right place to ask, but I will try anyway. We are trying to configure Oracle http server to use mod_ntlm to authenticate users for html-db application. After we configure the server to use mod_ntlm for mod_plsql content(pls), all the requests failed with 400 Bad Requests error. It looks like the mod_plsql does not recognize the http header for NTLM authentication(which is encrypted). Anyone knows how to make mod_ntlm and mod_plsql work together in oracle http server(i.e. Apache)? Thanks.

sorry, 291509, but this is the wrong forum for your question. one of these forums is used to determine the appropriate forums for posting. i'm, of course, not sure which one that is, but i'd start there if i were you.

  • OEM discovers HTTP server but with wrong port

    Oracle 9i
OEM discovers all my nodes but shows my HTTP server running on port 80 when it's actually on 7777. How to correct this? Where is OEM getting port 80 from? I have looked at the httpd.conf and other config files and can't locate the problem. Please help.
    Thanks
    Dave

    David,
Did you ever get this problem solved? I am having what sounds like the same thing.
In my case the http server discovered is at port 443 which is the SSL port. What should be there (I think) is 7777, the actual port.
    Can anyone help?

  • Prob with arch installation

i'm trying to install arch on ancient computer (p3 )
the prob is that the installation stuck in the part of the partitions
i choosed the first option "Auto-Prepare" (i dont need the data on the hd)
then i see message "formating..."(i dont remmber exactly the message)
and that it, i wait almost 1 hour and  it's still "formating"
    maybe my hd is damage?

If that is not too frustrating, you may try manual format with cfdisk - it's not that bad. Also you may just remove all partitions with cfdisk (you can do it in advance in another virtual terminal etc alt+ F2), write the changes and then use auto prepare. This hang, however, is quite not normal.
It's good also to mention which install cd image do you use (like version..).

  • Embedded http server problem with port 80

    Hello Guys/Gals,
I have just installed the latest version of Oracle XE and APEX on redhat linux. I am trying to get rid of the 8080 port in my url. So I am trying to change my port to 80. I logged into pl/sql as system - exec dbms_xdb.sethttpport('80'); that seems to run fine. If I look at my lsnrctl status - I do not see the line for it listening on port 80 like it does when it's set to port 8080? I changed the owner of lsnrctl to root? I read that in an article to set port < 1024? Can someone please help me out. I am sure it's a permission thing but I can't figure it out. By the way everything works fine when the port is set to 8080 but???
    Thanks,
    Dan

Update I belive I got it to work. Here is what I think I did to make it work.
    chown root:root $ORACLE_HOME/bin/tnslsnr
    chmod 4755 tnslsnr
I logged into sqlplus as system -
    exec dbms_xdb.sethttpport('80');
Then added the following line to the $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin/listener.ora LISTENER section
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = dpmsurf)(PORT = 80))
    (PROTOCOL_STACK = (PRESENTATION = HTTP) (SESSION = RAW))
the stopped and started the listner
    $ORACLE_HOME/bin/lsnrctl stop
    $ORACLE_HOME/bin/lsnrctl start
Now I can run with out putting the port in the url .
    Thanks,

  • I use the MAIL app with Microsoft Exchange server- prob with attachments

Occasionally I get an email in MAIL that I KNOW has an attachment but it doesn't appear in my MAIL client. I see no attachment icon at all. I have to go to WEB-MAIL to retrieve it and sure enough it's there. Has anyone else encountered MAIL's idiosyncratic behavior in this regard?
Another "sometimes" problem is with HTML emails. Sometimes they come in with no graphics, mostly text, lines etc, and sometimes they even look like CODE.
I think (hope) these things will be solved with Snow Leopard, but in the meantime... Anyone?

I gave up on mail for exchange and use Entourage for my exchange mail - not helpful I'm afraid but mail simply does not work well with exchange in my experience (and in lots of other's)

  • Exchange Server 2010 with SP3 Management Tools

Recently I have installed brand new Exchange Server 2010 with SP1 in my test domain. Afterwards I upgraded it to Exchange Server 2010 with SP3. On client machine (Windows 7 Pro with SP1 x64) I run setup.exe for Exchange Server 2010 with SP1 installation
DVD to install Management Tools. All checks passed successfully but after installation was completed there was an error in EMC:
The World Wide Web Publishing Service (W3SVC) isn't running on any Exchange servers in the site.  If you want to connect to Remote Powershell, this service must be running.  Make sure that the W3SVC is running on at least one Exchange server.
Of course service is running. I read this has something to do with different versions of Exchange Server itself and Management Tools. Since there is no installation of Exchange Server 2010 with SP3 how to solve this? I assume if I have installation of Exchange
Server 2010 with slipstreamed Service Pack 3, management tools installed from this installation would work.
Also does this mean that, if I have working tools for Exchange Server and SP for it is installed later, tools will stop functioning?

I would install SP3 on all servers and workstation as SP1 and SP2 aren't supported anymore and see how it is behaving...

  • Oracle HTTP Server for APEX3.2

I am a DBA but new to APEX.
On page 4-15 of APEX3.2 Installation Guide, it says
Install from the Database and Configure Oracle HTTP Server
This section describes how to configure Oracle HTTP Server with mod_plsql
distributed with Oracle Database 11g or Oracle Application Server 10g.
It seems that Oracle HTTP Server is neither distributed with the database CD nor Example CD. Am I right?
Also, can I use HTTP Server bundled with OMS to serve as HTTP Server for APEX? Will that impact Grid Control?
    EPG is not considered.
    Thanks,
    Kevin

    Hi
When using Grid of course, there is a HTTP server
When having the Rdbms, you need the companion cd or use one of products that has already HTTP server .... ( Example ; IAS, etc )

  • Installing standalone HTTP server(w/11gDb,3.2ApEx) & architecture questions

    Hi,
I'm a newbie to ApEx and am in the process of laying down ApEx infrastructure (11g DB w/ 3.2 ApEx).
Since we want to have the database server behind the firewall, one of the options is to set up 3-tier architecture (ie: DB server, Oracle HTTP server, and user's web browser) ALL on separate hosts. However, it appears all the ApEx installation guides (11g DB w/ 3.2 ApEx) ONLY mention about installing DB/ApEx together with OHS on the same host (ie: OHS is distributed with Oracle 11g, OHS is installed in an Oracle home...etc). This is NOT what I want. Please note that ApEx automatically installs with Oracle db 11g or later.
Q1) Where can I download OHS, NOT bundled together with 11g? Does 10g HTTP server work with 11g DB?
Q2) What's the procedure of setting up OHS on its own host (so that the host can be outside of the firewall)?
Q3) My understanding is that ONE ApEx with ONE database (ie: ApEx resides inside the database). Can I have ONE ApEx pointing to MORE THAN ONE database?
Q4) My understanding is that ApEx is covered under database license, regardless of whether OHS resides in same host of the db server or not. Correct?
Q5) My understanding is that basically I have 2 options of setting up the fore-mentioned scenario OHS as follows:
Option#1: Using the 3-tier architecture or
Option#2: setting up OHS together with database in the same host, but use Proxy server
Which one is the best practice? Pro's and con's?
I also searched on this forum, but it does not appear to have answers to my questions.
Your expertise and insights are appreciated :)
    Helen

Thank you, Varad for your prompt reply.
    3 more questions:
    Q1)
Database + APEX + OHS on server 1 (within the firewall)
Apache 2.2 in the DMZ - serves static pages, non-APEX apps and forwards requests to APEX applications to the OHS running on the db server.Say I have a production db + ApEx + OHS on prod_server, and a test db + ApEx + OHS on test_server, should I have ONE Proxy server for BOTH production AND test, or each environment should have its own proxy server? The SA said that we "should" have one for each and can be on virtual machines but on the same physical host. What's your take on it? From what you mentioned, you folks seem to run everything together within the same Apache web server. But if I make a configuration change (say, in "httpd.conf"), and I need to reboot the Apache web server to take effect, then all the services will be affected, correct?
    Q2)
I suggest you first get your database and APEX configured and working correctly and accessible from the OHS. You then install Apache on your DMZ box(download from http://httpd.apache.org) and configure it forward requests destined to the APEX application to the back end OHS. At a minimum your Apache config fille will have entries similar to (assuming external users enter the URL http://www.acme.com/apex to access the APEX applications)
    ProxyRequests Off
    ProxyPreserveHost On
    ProxyPass /apex http://Oracle_HTTP_server:8080/apex
    ProxyPassReverse /apex http://Oracle_HTTP_server:8080/apex
.....After the above change, what needs to be included in ApEx Application Builder -> Application xxx -> Shared Components -> Proxy Server -> ?
The "ServerName" in the VirtualHost section?
Q3) Currently I'm on ApEx EPG. And I know that Oracle is pushing towards EPG. But it appears that it's a GOOD idea to move to OHS instead of using the embedded gateway for several reasons. One of them is that it does not seem (or I could not find) the typical Apache configuration file ($ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache/conf/httpd.conf). What's your take?
    Thanks much again :)

  • HTTP server licensing

Can the oracle http server included with the companion cd be used without specifically licensing the product?
We would like to run the oracle http server with the mod_plsql module on a dedicated server but I'm unable to find licensing info on that individual product.

You would require proper license to even use standalone OHS from companion CD. Depending on the version of standalone OHS, you might need at least either Oracle Application Server Java Edition (which I believe isn't offered anymore) or WLS SE (as per new licensing terms).
I would suggest you to get in touch with you Oracle sales rep to get it cleared.
    Thanks
