HTTP Status 404 indicates a resouce is not available - how to do you overcome this issue?

Web site offers visitors the opportunity to the Newsletter 1) Trouble viewing the Newsletter.....
2) View it online 3) Download a Printer friendly copy. Trying any of these options generates an Apache Tomcat/5.5.27 - Error report. This in turn throws up a report along the lines of HTTP Status 404 indicating a resource is not available. Are there any fixes possible from my end or should I notify the Newsletter sender of error at their end?

I think it means that it could not find what it's looking for. Check the links.

  • Please help "http status 404 - the requested resource is not available"

    After restarting apache and tomcat all pages under webapps/ROOT became unavailable, but pages in other webapps are still available. Almost looks like there is filter somewhere. Does anyone has any idea where should I look? Thanks!

    additional info:
    all pages in webapps/test were also not available, but when I renamed webapps/test to webapps/newapp then it owrks fine. Definitely there seem to be a filter somewhere but where??? Please help!

    The server is failing to download some updates.
    This error is happening everyday. Please advise for a fix.
    If this is happening on an UPSTREAM server it is because you have approved updates that are no longer available from Microsoft. Almost always this involves approvals of *EXPIRED* updates (which have been pulled from the catalog and cannot be downloaded).
    If this is happening on a DOWNSTREAM server it's because something/someone deleted the files from the upstream server. It can also happen if the entire upstream ~\WSUSContent folder has gone amuk.
    For an upstream server, find the expired updates, remove the approvals, cancel the downloads, and then decline the updates.
    For a downstream server, figure out what the affected updates are and fix the upstream server.

  • Error Message: The attempt to connect to the report server failed. Check your connection information and that the report server is a compatible version. The request failed with HTTP status 404: Not Found.

    I have a web page that contains a ReportViewer control.  I am trying to display a report, which is an .rdl file located on the SSRS server, in this ReportViewer control.  I have set the ReportPath and ReportServerUrl correctly.  I am
    getting an error message.
    Am I suppose to use an .rdlc file rather than a .rdl file?  Does the web server configuration need to use a certain account?
     I am getting the following error message:
    The attempt to connect to the report server failed. Check your connection information and that the report server is a compatible version.
    The request failed with HTTP status 404: Not Found.

    Hi bucaroov,
    The error "The request failed with HTTP status 404: Not Found." means the ReportServerURL configured in the ReportViewer control is invalid.
    Please follow these steps to solve the issue:
    Logon the Report Server machine.
    Open the Reporting Services Configuration Manager.
    Copy the Report Server URL from 'Web Services URL'.
    Logon the application server(in this case, it is the server that host the web page), check if we can use the URL we got from step 3 to access the Report Server. If so, please replace the ReportServerURL in the ReportViewer control with this URL. If it is
    not available, could you please post the error message.
    Additionaly, we don't need to provide the extension for a server report. The ReportPath should be like: /<reports folder>/<report name>

    Snippet from the link below:
    If you get a “404: Not Found” error, it ‘s because by default there is no script map for .svc file with default IIS 7.0 installation, so you need to register .svc extension in IIS:
    You need to update IIS script maps to register .svc extension In a command prompt (ran as administrator), execute the following command:
    “%windir%\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v3.0\Windows Communication Foundation\ServiceModelReg.exe” -r -y"

    For some reason, don't know why, I'm running my ANT script and below is the message I get.

    Does anyone have any idea what's wrong? The ant script has been working great in the past 3 monthsHow many times have I wondered something similar...
    The basic fact is that the ant build file will take input and generate output. The past three months the input has been fine, but now "something" is breaking "something". So:
    does /onlineRegistration point to an index.htm/index.html/index.jsp file? Does it exist after the deployment?
    Are you using precompiled JSP's by any chance and perhaps that is blowing up?

  • HTTP Status 404 - wwv_flow_custom_auth_std.logout is not allowed.

    Hi,
    Toady, if i tried to log out from my Application(s) or Apex Developer this error occur:
    HTTP Status 404 - Requested url http://XX.XX.XX.XX:XXXX/apex/wwv_flow_custom_auth_std.logout is not allowed.
    My spec:
    APEX 4.0.2
    Apex Listener
    Apache Tomcat
    Firefox 3.6.23
    I use apex one year and i had no problem with it.
    I changed nothing :(
    Where should be the problem ?
    I tried to restart the database and reconfigure Apex listener.
    I do not know, if this is the right forum section. (maybe it should be in the Listener forum ?)
    Regards
    J :D
    EDIT: Redeploy of the apex.war solved this problem

    Oracle Security patches applied to Oracle-Application-Server-10g/10.1.3.5.0 .
    APEX version is Application Express 4.0.1.00.03
    The APEX application after the patch was applied on OAS was raising Error (Getting Http-400 Bad Name In The Request: Not A Legal Plsql Identifier ).
    Implemented metalink Doc ID 1327343.1 to resolve this error.
    Created a new procedure without parameters which calls the original procedure using parameters. Changed the DAD.conf to reflect the new Procedure
    for the variable PlsqlDefaultPage instead of the format PlsqlDefaultPage f?p=AppID:PageID.
    Apparently, there is this custom login screen which is called On-Load before Header on the Default Page 71 like this. And instead of rendering page 71 gives out the error.
    begin
    if app_security_pkg.is_user_authenticated(null,null)
    then
    wwv_flow_custom_auth_std.login( p_uname => v('APP_USER_NAME')
    , p_password => null
    , p_session_id => v('APP_SESSION')
    , p_flow_page => :app_id||':71'
    end if;
    exception
    when others then
    dbms_output.put_line(sqlcode);
    end;

    Hi,
    For a better troubleshooting, I suggest you to do as follows:
    1. On server side you can access the Workflow.asmx from IE to make sure there are no problems in code logic.
    2. On client side you can also access Workflow.asmx from IE to see if it returns error.
    3. Check the link below:
    http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg02092.html
    If you want to operate the workflow in Client-Side,  we can use Client Object Model in SharePoint 2010 to achieve it.
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/microsoft.sharepoint.client.workflow(v=office.14).ASPX
