Https changes into http in workshop 8.1

Hi!
I've come across a problem in our application, that when I access a page/pageflow/portal
using https, the links that I have in f.e. any JSP-pages are rendered in http
and not in https as i would hope to.
Is there some easy configuration that is needed? Workshop help mentions at least
for couple workshop-specific tags that they are supposed to be using the protocoal
that they received the call with, but at the moment it's not working correctly.

Hi,
when I drag a pdf file (when working in Preview) into iBooks Author, the background colour in the pdf file changes into the background colour of the book.
This happens not consistently, sometimes the background of the pdf file does not change (and stays white), sometimes it's like the text in the pdf file is 'lifted' of the file, and put on the page in iBooks Author (with a brown/beige background).
All the pdf files are scanned pdf's, nothing comes out of Pages, Word, Excel,...
Anybody?

I have the same question (posted here: https://discussions.apple.com/message/25644741#25644741).
I believe this is because the PDFs have transparent backgrounds. As far as I can tell, the only way to fix it is to export the PDF as another file, such as an image file. Or perhaps convert it to Word and import it that way.

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. This article has some steps to try if your iPhone is unexpectedly powering off:

Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.

Related Issue column in tracking list gets changed into drop down list in Infopath

Hi All,
i have created Tracking list in sharepoint 2010. which has column[Related issue - lookup for field in list[title] by default.
this field will have a multiple selection check box,2 buttons [Add and remove] and text box[which show the items selected in check box].
my issue is ,when i try to modify my list in Infopath. this column[Related issue] gets changed into drop down list item.Is is possible to get the same [old format] back. if so pls guide me..

The
multiple-selection list box control should be by design in InfoPath form, which is corresponding to the SharePoint "Related Issues" field, in my opinion, it cannot be converted to [old format] in InfoPath form, you may need to use SharePoint Designer 2010
to customize your Issue Tracking list NewForm.aspx/EditForm.aspx per the way in the following article, then "Related Issues" field will still be the old format,

See if any of this info will help:
Using Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.

2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop. When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done. 3 - however, if you get the navigation window

that indicates that PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file. You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements 9 the Saving File preferences should be configured as shown:

I also suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always. In PSE’s General preference pane set the Color Picker to Apple as shown:

NOTE: If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and PS without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in main window". That will let you either edit in iPhoto (double click on the thumbnail) or in PS (Control-click on the thumbnail and seledt "Edit in external editor" in the Contextual menu). This way you get the best of both worlds.

Folder changed into .bundle file... can't open.... new to macs....

Hi. I use a music program called Ableton Live 7. My library (presets, samples, etc.) was located in the Library/Application Support Folder, but now it has magically changed into a .bundle folder and renamed itself "Ableton Live Engine."
Ableton Live 7 itself works fine, and under it's preferences it says it's library path is still in the Application Support folder.... what gives? I need to get back into my Ableton library folder so I can copy some of the files to a DVD for backup.
I'm brand new to macs. Macbook 2.2ghz, 1gig ram, I'm using.

How do I adjust the page orientation in Pages? I want to keep the pages above the section break as portrait, and the ones below I want to change into landscape. Is this possible? I can only get it to be one or the other but not both.

The work around is to do two documents, one in portrait format and one in landscape format. When finished export to Pdf. open in Preview by select both files and use Cmd + O or doubleclick. You can now in Previews thumbnail column the pages from one document into the other and then save.
If you have created only one with i.e. all pages in portrait format but with the content for the landscape pages rotated on the pages, you can rotate the pages in Preview. Two ways to get the same result.

How to Repair A File Changed into an Alias?

hello,
so i have a really frustrating problem. and here it is:
--oct 25 i backed up all my files onto an external hard drive (EHD)
--i upgraded my osx from snow leopard to mavericks
--attached my EHD to laptop to retrieve files
--discovered that several folders and documents had been changed to aliases.
not sure why this happened because i have drag and dropped files and folders directly from my desktop to my EHD without any changes. in fact i created a folder and some files on my desktop and drag and dropped them into the same EHD without any issues.
--i thought it might have something to do with mavericks.
--i resintalled snow leopard. still have the same problem & i cannot open the files or folders that have been changed into aliases on my EHD.
for one folder's type description, it says it is a unix executable file not an alias. even though there is a little black arrow showing on the folder icon.
when i try to open another folder with a black arrow it says: the alias "_______" cannot be opened because the original item can't be found
another message i am getting when i try to open a word document, .docx, with an arrow is: item "_______" is used by Mac OS X and can't be opened....
i compared two documents--one with an arrow and one without---there were several differences of course. the arrowed document has changed and the UTI, type, creator and format are the changes. now the format is HFS+ not MS-DOS.
does anyone know what kind of problem this is and how to fix it?

You can put its code into the XML by using a textual encoding such as Base64. However, as images tend to have quite a lot of bytes and textual encodings tend to increase the amount of data even more, I'd rather deliver a pack of files and just state path/name of the images in XML.

Confused; auto writing changes into xmp

I am not sure which settings to use for the catalog settings options concerning writing changes to the xmp data or not. Kelby says he leaves the "Automatically write changes into xmp" unchecked because it takes additional processing time. Martin Evening says if you check it then try to edit in photoshop, it will automaitcally open in Camera RAW, not photoshop. I am new to CS5 and recently got it because I wanted to move up from Elements. He also says that the best option is to leave the "include Develop setting in metadata inside JPEG, TIFF, and PSD files" off, because they may not look the same in other photo apps. This whole issue is confusing to me. Can anyone simplify it? I am a serious amateur, and don't plan on giving any of my raw photos to "clients".

To xmp or not to xmp, that is the question. Alas, poor Kelby. I knew him well.
Kelby says he leaves the "Automatically write changes into xmp" unchecked because it takes additional processing time.
Of course, the normal interaction between Lr and Ps doesn't require xmp files. xmp files carry metadata in a format available to other applications. I don't anticipate ever using other applications. But you never know. So I do have Lr write to xmp. Most of my xmp files are 13.7kb. Some as low as 10kb, some as high as 15kb. How long does it take to write 15kb of data? Not long. But over an import of hundreds of images it will add up. Add up to what depends on your machine. And whether it matters depends on your particular needs. I have a fast machine and am not in a hurry to begin with. And I can't predict the future. So I write them. If I ever get in a hurry, I might not.

This may be true when opening the image from applications other than Lr. If you want to edit a RAW image in your Lr catalog in Ps, the most straightforward method is to select the image and hit Ctrl+E. Lr will render it and open it in Ps. Not ACR. Whether you have "Automatically write changes into xmp" checked or not.
It's important to note that Lr does not open the RAW image in Ps. It renders a copy and opens the copy in Ps. When you save the copy after your Ps edits, it will be saved as new file in Psd format (or Tiff, depending on your Preferences). By default, the new Psd file will be added to the catalog with original name with "-Edit.psd" added to the end. That's it. No xmp's, ACR's, or but's about it.
The link between Lr and Ps is too fundamental to derail with your Preferences.
He also says that the best option is to leave the "include Develop
setting in metadata inside JPEG, TIFF, and PSD files" off, because they
may not look the same in other photo apps.
It's true that the may not look the same in other apps, but this isn't necessarily a deal breaker. There are advantages to maximizing your compatibility. But I would suspect that the vast majority of Lr/Ps users never edit their images in other applications. So turning it off would present no downside. Same with the xmp files. Particularly considering the fact that the Develop Settings can be written into the files later if you need to edit an image in Acme Photoswap.
So I would say in general, Scott and Martin are giving good advice.
