HTTPS Email
I have an ASA5505, ASA7.1(2), ASDM 7.1(3) which functions as the DHCP server on my mini-network. I have a base computer with Windows 7 installed. WIndows 2012R2 server resides in a VM and Windows 10 on another VM on this same base computer (VMWare). The 2012R2 VM is a domain controller with the WIndows 10 VM being a member computer of the domain. The base computer does not belong to the domain. Both the VM's and the base computer belong to the same subnet on the network. I have an IBM Domino server installed on the 2012R2 VM and have added HTTPS webmail. I have no problems connecting from a remote location or from the WIndows 10 domain client through the ASA to the mail server and loading email ... I cannot get the non-domain member computer to connect to the webmail server. I do not see anything being rejected in the syslog screen so I do not know if it is the ASA blocking access. Any ideas will be most appreciated.
Sorry I don't understand your question.
E-mail is either POP3 or IMAP or Mail For Exchange. No https there.
If you want to access the e-mails from your web-based account, you need to find the POP/IMAP settings and configure your phone accordingly.

Does Entourage support http email?
I have Quest DSL and an MSN mail account. I can't get it to send or receive mail through Entourage or through the mail package that came with the computer. Quest says they aren't sure a Mac supports the http mail server that MSN is, but they weren't sure. Any help out there on how to set up Entourage to send and receiv mail with an msn.com mail account? Thanks.
Mine is set up like domo67 and I have no issues. I did however add my user name and password to the outgoing section even though it was indicated as "optional". I have not gotten any error messages, and as long as I have edge available it will DL my mail each time as well as send it.

Transport Gateway HTTP versus Email
Which mode is generally preferred for the Transport Gateway: HTTP or email? Are there advantages to using one mode over the other?
I seem to remember talking with someone from Cisco about this and remember that they had some good arguments for which mode was preferred, but I just can't remember the content of that discussionWe need to separate out the whether we are talking about traffic from the end device (router, switch, UCS) to the transport gateway or traffic from the transport gateway to Cisco Smart Call Home backend or the end device directly to Cisco's Smart Call Home backend.
The transport gateway is essentially a proxy server for your end devices so that the end devices themselves do not have to talk across the internet. Any network engineer worth their salt will block traffic generated by their infrastructure devices (routers, switches) to the internet for security reasons. The only exceptions I might consider would be firewalls that sit at the boundary between the internal network and the internet. I might allow those to communicate directly with the Cisco Smart Call Home backend via HTTPS. But I probably would prefer they talk to the Transport gateway and allow only the transport gateway to talk across the internet to the Cisco Smart Call Home backend so you can track outbound communications easier.
For the traffic from end devices to the transport gateway, I recommend HTTPS. The drawback is It is more complicated to setup with the certificate. This would encrypt the traffic between the end device and the transport gateway. Or we can assume that the internal network is safe from eavesdropping. In that case, any method (http, email, https) to the transport gateway is fine. I don't like to make that kind of assumption.
When would I use email? Well, some devices like the UCS can only do email so there is no other choice. The UCS can send email to the transport gateway's email account and the transport gateway can download it. Unfortunately, the end devices only do simple SMTP on port 25 which is sent in the clear (unencrypted) from the end device to the email server.
For the traffic from the transport gateway to the Smart Call Home backend, the transport gateway always encrypts it via HTTPS to send to Cisco's Smart Call Home backend.
So you might ask, "Can the end device send *email* to Cisco's Smart Call Home backend directly?" Yes, but this is not recommended because it is sent in the clear (unencrypted) across the internet.
You also might ask, "What about anonymous Smart Call Home?" Well, in that case, the customer does not have a smartnet contract and is helping Cisco by reporting crashes on their end device (Like Windows error reporting and Apple Error Reporting). The end device will automatically setup and make an HTTPS connection directly to Cisco's Smart Call Home backend when it reports an error.
Cisco is transitioning the software to having the customers turn on anonymous Smart Call Home for easy HTTPS setup and then configuring registered Call Home. This completely removes the certificate setup by the end user. -
How Can I Use a Gmail Account with Multiple Email Addresses in iPhone Mail?
So I have a Gmail account with 4 POP accounts that it checks... Is there a way to get "Reply From" from multiple addresses?

What is POP, POP3, and IMAP When I Setup My Email Account in the HP ePrint App?
I have done as much research as I can do in regards to setting up the HP ePrint App Email Accounts. If you do not see your email information listed here, feel free to post it below or contact your internet service provider, phone or email company, or whomever else that might know this. I am certain there are many more that could be added but this is a rather extensive list. I hope you find what you need to finish setting up your email applications.
I have noticed information differs from website to website but as I have learned over time, with domain masking and companies buying out other companies, I just researched all the information I could find and that way if one of the hostnames or ports don’t work, then you can continue to view further into this page to see if that information is the same. At that point, if you can’t find what you need here, I would say you have done all that you can do before contacting the appropriate support team for your email information.
Most of the links are active and the ones listed below should send you directly the pages I pulled this information from but only a few of them were from the actual support sites themselves (Apple support was vague, as well as Microsoft, Macintosh, and commonly used ISPs). Save yourself some time by searching here first. I hope you find what you need in this one-stop-shop and if you get an email address not listed here please post it below and I will add it to this original document.
Lastly, as this information is from forum-based and other unofficial websites, I would like to add that this is a copy/paste/edit-for-easy-reading document I created in my spare time. This is a very long document so I do recommend using the search and find quick keys to search for the email you need but the top part of this has definitions as to what servers, ports, and hostnames are and the basic setup in case you need to know what these options are used for and what they mean.
Below are the most common settings needed to set up most POP3/IMAP Email Clients or Devices:
The following information below can be found at http://www.swestcom.com/Support/q4.htm
“What is POP3?
Post Office Protocol version 3 (POP3) is a standard mail protocol used to receive emails from a remote server to a local email client. POP3 allows you to download email messages on your local computer and read them even when you are offline."
"What is IMAP?
The Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP) is a mail protocol used for accessing email on a remote web server from a local client. IMAP and POP3 are the two most commonly used Internet mail protocols for retrieving emails. Both protocols are supported by all modern email clients and web servers."
"Main difference between IMAP and POP3:
The POP3 protocol assumes that there is only one client connected to the mailbox. In contrast, the IMAP protocol allows simultaneous access by multiple clients. IMAP is suitable for you if your mailbox is about to be managed by multiple users."
"What is SMTP?
Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) is the standard protocol for sending emails across the Internet. SMTP uses TCP port 25 or 2525 and sometimes you can have problems to send your messages in case your ISP has closed port 25 (How to check if port 25 is open?). To determine the SMTP server for a given domain name, the MX (Mail eXchange) should have more information."
"When setting up:
POP - choose POP and the incoming server port will default to 110
IMAP - choose IMAP and the incoming server port will default to 143
All other settings are the same.
Username = [email protected]
Password = the password you set up when you configured your mail box
Incoming Mail Server = mail.yourdomain.com
Outgoing Mail Server= smtp.yourdomain.com
Outgoing Server Requires Authentication (typically found in advanced options or settings)
Do NOT check "Log on Using Secure Password Authentication"
Use the same Username and Password as Incoming or select "Use Same Settings as Incoming"
Outgoing Server Port= 2525 or 587This is subject to change based on the individual preferences of your ISP"
Note - Substitute your actual domain name for "yourdomain.com" and substitute the first part of your email address for "user."
Email Ports
For networks, a port means an endpoint to a logical connection. The port number identifies what type of port it is. Here are the default email ports for:
POP3 - port 110
IMAP - port 143
SMTP - port 25
HTTP - port 80
Secure SMTP (SSMTP) - port 465
Secure IMAP (IMAP4-SSL) - port 585
IMAP4 over SSL (IMAPS) - port 993
Secure POP3 (SSL-POP) - port 995.

Have you ever wished you could use your AOL email account with something else, something more powerful, something more convenient than AOL, something like Outlook, Windows Mail, Outlook Express, or The Bat!? Thanks to the wonders of IMAP, you can.
If you set up your AOL email account in any email client capable of IMAP, you can receive and send messages easily. Even the AOL folders — Spam, Saved, Sent Items and your Trash will be there automatically. Of course, you can also use POP to fetch incoming mail in an uncomplicated fashion.
For instructions on how to assist you with this you can also follow this link: http://email.about.com/od/aoltips/qt/Access_an_AOL_Email_Account_with_any_POP_IMAP_Email_Program.htm
Set Up POP or IMAP E-Mail on an Android G1 How do I set up POP or IMAP E-Mail on an Android Device?
From the home screen, tap Applications > Settings > Accounts & sync > Add account > Manual setup.
On the Incoming settings screen, in the Protocol drop-down menu, select IMAP or POP3. We suggest you select IMAP because it supports more features.
In the Email address and Username text boxes, enter your full e-mail address, for example [email protected], and then select Next. Your user name is the same as your e-mail address.
In the Password text box, enter your password.
In the IMAP server or POP3 server text box, enter your IMAP or POP server name. For information about how to look up the server settings you need to complete this step and other steps in this procedure, see “How do I find the server settings” later in this topic.
In the Security type drop-down menu and Server port text boxes, specify the POP or IMAP settings that you looked up in step 5, and then tap Next. Your e-mail application will check your IMAP or POP settings.
On the Outgoing server settings screen, the Login required option should be selected for you, and the Username and Password text boxes should be filled in.
In the SMTP server text box, enter the SMTP server name you looked up in step 5.
In the Security type drop down menu and Server port text box, specify the SMTP settings that you located in step 5, and click Next.
In the Account name, text box, enter a name for your account (for example “Office 365 email” or “Work email”). In the Your name text box, enter the name you want displayed when you send e-mail to others (for example “Tony Smith”), and then select Finish Setup.
What else do I need to know?
If your e-mail account is the type that requires registration, you must register it the first time you sign in to Outlook Web App. Connecting to your e-mail account through a mobile phone will fail if you haven't registered your account through Outlook Web App. After you sign in to your account, sign out. Then try to connect using your mobile phone. For more information about how to sign in to your account using Outlook Web App, see How to Sign In to Your E-Mail Using a Web Browser. If you have trouble signing in, see FAQs: Sign-in and Password Issues or contact the person who manages your e-mail account.

The following information is according to a forum comment at the bottom of this webpage concerning HOTMAIL and mail server settings:
“As other web based email services, Hotmail is using the HTTP protocol for connecting you to your mailbox. If you want to send and receive Hotmail emails using an email client software, then your software must support Hotmail HTTP access for your email account. Some email clients, such as Outlook Express or Microsoft Outlook, offer builtin support for Hotmail accounts, so you only have to select HTTP when you are asked to select your email account type and select Hotmail as the HTTP Mail Service Provider.”
Mail Server Settings for Hotmail using the Microsoft Outlook Connector
If you are using Microsoft Outlook & the Outlook Connector, you can define your Hotmail account just like any regular POP3 email account:
Hotmail Incoming Mail Server (POP3) - pop3 . live. com (logon using Secure Password Authentification - SPA, mail server port: 995)
Hotmail Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) -smtp . live . com (SSL enabled, port 25)
Additional information from this website has not been confirmed or validated as of yet but it does include additional information or perhaps corrected information. If the above steps do not fix the problem with setting up an email account for the HP Apps then read on:
Yahoo! Mail Settings
Yahoo Mail offers standard POP3 access for receiving emails incoming through your Yahoo mailbox, by using your favorite email client software. To setup your email client for working with your Yahoo account, you need to select the POP3 protocol and use the following mail server settings:

View Solution.Just to recap, this is a collection of ports I have collected over time for people who needed this information when setting up the HP ePrint app so that they could view their email from within the app. I am certain other applications also need this information. Although lengthy, I could not find a more comprehensive place to retrieve this information. Feel free to post additional information, faulty information, or other related topics below as this is simply a collection of data and it would be practically impossible to test all of them. Thank you!

We are a small company and we use Mac computers.
We installed Thunderbird, and we have a problem with a shared email address "contact@":
When I sort through the emails reveived in contact, it automatically removes them from my colleagues Inboxes on their computer.
We have no problem with our personnal email addresses and are extremely happy with Thunderbird.
What can we do to avoid Thunderbird from synchronising with the other computers in the office and wiping out the emails in this common email box?
Thank you for your helpYou may be able to resolve the issue by adjusting:
Specify when messages are automatically marked as "read"
Menu location: Thunderbird | Preferences | Advanced | Reading & Display
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/configuration-options-viewing-messages
There is an outdated article at:
http://email.about.com/od/mozillathunderbirdtips/qt/et_mark_read.htm
that may provide helpful background, although the menus have changed so the options probably have too. -

Hi. Welcome to the forums.
Please edit your post and remove your email address.
The email is legitimate. BT tends to use that email.planning-inc.co.uk - despite being informed numerous times to stop doing so due to the inherent phishing nature, and that the html doesn't show that website.
I have been saying for years (mainly in the btinternet forums) that they should use bt.com domain, and if they want to use tracking - then they can clearly use forwarding through there.

Convert PHP Email Code to Using SMTP Authentication
One of my contact forms no longer is able to send (it used to until some server updates were made), for it keeps posting the following error:
Warning: mail() [function.mail]: SMTP server response: 501 5.1.7 Invalid address in C:\contact.php on line 71
This form does work on three other servers, so obviously the form is in working order but not on this particular server.
I was recommended to "set the PHP script up to log in to the SMTP server" using this example:
http://email.about.com/od/emailprogrammingtips/qt/PHP_Email_SMTP_Authentication.htm
I've only gotten this far and cannot figure out how to actually create it to SEND:
<?php
// set flag to indicate whether mail has been sent
$mailSent = false;
if (array_key_exists('eList', $_POST)) {
// mail processing script
// remove escape characters from POST array
if (get_magic_quotes_gpc()) {
function stripslashes_deep($value) {
$value = is_array($value) ? array_map('stripslashes_deep', $value) : stripslashes($value);
return $value;
$_POST = array_map('stripslashes_deep', $_POST);
$email = $_POST['email'];
// check for valid email address
$pattern = '/^[^@]+@[^\s\r\n\'";,@%]+$/';
if (!preg_match($pattern, trim($email))) {
$error['email'] = 'Please enter a valid email address';
// validate the input, beginning with name
$name = trim($_POST['name']);
if (empty($name)) {
$error['name'] = 'Please enter your First Name';
$lname = trim($_POST['lname']);
if (empty($lname)) {
$error['lname'] = 'Please enter your Last Name';
$department = $_POST['department'];
if ($_POST['department'] == '') {
$error['department'] = 'Please select a Department';
// check the content of the text area
$messageBody = trim($_POST['message']);
if (empty($messageBody)) {
$error['message'] = 'Please enter your message';
// initialize variables
if (!empty($_POST['url'])) {
$to = '[email protected]';//
$subject = 'Suspected as SPAM';
$host = 'smptout.serverserver.net';
$username = 'username';
$password = 'password';
} else {
$to = '[email protected]';//
$subject = 'Here we are';
$host = 'smptout.serverserver.net';
$username = 'username';
$password = 'password';
$SpamErrorMessage = "No URLs permitted";
if (preg_match("/http/i", "$name")) {echo "$SpamErrorMessage"; exit();}
if (preg_match("/http/i", "$lname")) {echo "$SpamErrorMessage"; exit();}
if (preg_match("/http/i", "$email")) {echo "$SpamErrorMessage"; exit();}
if (preg_match("/http/i", "$messageBody")) {echo "$SpamErrorMessage"; exit();} // check for spam
//build the message
$smtp = Mail::factory('smtp',
array('host' => $host,
'auth' => true,
'username' => $username,
'password' => $password));
$message = "To: $department\r\n\r\n";
$message .= "From: $name $lname\r\n";
$message .= "$email\r\n\r\n";
$message .= "Question/Comment: $messageBody";
//build the additional headers
$additionalHeaders = "From: Contact <[email protected]>\r\n";
$additionalHeaders .= "Reply-To: $email";
//send the email if there are not errors
if (!isset($error)) {
$mailSent = mail($to, $subject, $message, $additionalHeaders);
// check that the mail was sent successfully

How do I delete an obsolete email address?
I use an iMac OS X 10.9.4 and mail 7.3 (1878.6)
I need to delete those email addresses I don't use any more in the 'tom' list in the 'from' list in the composing screen of Mail.
Thanks.Removing e-mail address cache
or...
To remove an email address from the auto-complete list in Mac OS X Mail:
Start typing the recipient's address or name in a new message.
Select the desired address from the auto-complete list as if you'd compose an email to them.
Click the small down arrow in the recipient.
Select Remove from Previous Recipients List from the menu.
You can also search for the unwanted address directly in the previous recipients list:
Select Window | Previous Recipients from the menu in Mac OS X Mail.
Highlight the address you want to remove.
You can highlight multiple addresses by holding down the Command key.
Click Remove from List.

How do I set up a new sub group email on the macbook ?
I will begin by freely admitting that I am not computer literate...I switch on and use. The present email has been in existence for so long I can't remember how it was set up, think the laptop did it by itself.
The problem...
I want to set up a sub group email address for the small club that I am treasurer for and then use this so members can pay subscriptions via paypal.
I followed the yahoo instructions to set a new email address and this was OK, the address is shown at the foot of the my account page on yahoo as the only sub group. ISP is BTinternet.com so that uses yahoo.
Easy so far.
Remember opening sentence !
How do I set up my existing email page to show when a message has been received on the new sub group email. I use macmail on a macbook , not PC outlookexpress. In other words, how do I open/access/show this new email on the macbook ? I don't want to compromise the existing email set-up, just have a 'secondary' or 'sub group' account.
Thanks
BrianYes, you just setup another account in Mail, on the Second page where it has Description you need another Name in there than the Other one has.

How do I... Unblock an email address
I have managed to put an email address of a friend to reject all messages. The messages they send to me get sent back to them with a message of undeliverable.
Any ideas on how to resolve the issue?
I have checked junk mail.
I have added the address to my address book.
I dont know if bounced it (accidently).
Thank you.It makes no diif that EE has taken oven Orange. EE still handles all the email domains back to Freeserve ones.
Are you logging in here: http://email.orange.co.uk/ ?
You need to contact EE to unblock it. There is a so-called "email" form that you can use for BB: https://explore.ee.co.uk/broadband/email-us . Also see below in my sig. -
I can no longer directly email pdfs from mac preview
Since upgrading to Lion I can no longer open a pdf file in Mac Preview and then select "Mail Selected PDF Document." When I do so I receive an error message: The "New Email With Attachement" service could not be used.
Anyone know what the problem is?It could be a POP account which means the first device which accesses the account gets the email unless the settings have been changed. Here are links to show what is involved. It may not mirror your circumstances though.
